IN PRAISE OF DENNIS MILLER

I think he is the most pompous and ponderous so called comedian on the planet. He uses literary references that almost nobody "gets," he has no punch lines, just punch paragraphs, and he has a superior than thou attitude. That said, with nothing to do the other night I pulled up his Las Vegas act on HBO on demand. Wow. He was funny, most of his punch lines were just that, and his political commentary, when he'd do it, was sharp. He still makes obscure literary references, but he held the number down to two. If you have HBO On Demand, take a look; it's free and worth every penny.
