Ingmar Bergman is dead and I doubt that many people under the age of 80 have seen his movies, all of which were dark, cryptic sub-titled artsy fartsy crap loaded to the gills with "symbolism.". He's been artistically dead since about 1970 and to even mention him in the same sentence with John Ford, Huston, Kazan or any one of a hundred Hollywood titans is just silly.

God, his movies sucked.
Russ Meyer was a better movie maker Ingmar Bergman.
Actually, Bergman would have been even less of a director without his cinematographer Sven Nykvist, who WAS a genius.
