Ace Links to a Sarah Silverman bit that, as usual with her, starts off funny but then goes nowhere. Which leads me to a comedy trend: no punch line, loud loud loud, and a shove it up your ass attitude. Ho ho? There was a time when "fuck you, asshole" was actually funny, when "suck my dick" was the über joke, and various obscenities were actually funny because they were "daring," which says more about us than about the material or performer. But that stuff hasn't been daring since the days of Lenny Bruce in the late 50s. "Daring" is to actually get funny about deep philosophical subjects without getting so confrontational that the comedy plays only to the choir. You need a Will Rogers or Mort Sahl type in order to communicate with everyone.
A Yuppie is someone who believes it's courageous to eat in a restaurant that hasn't been reviewed yetAnd finally:
Liberals feel unworthy of their possessions. Conservatives feel they deserve everything they've stolen
Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for.
Ohio claims they are due a president as they haven't had one since Taft. Look at the United States, they have not had one since Lincoln.
The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets.
Comedy: it's changed. It isn't funny anymore.Tell me the above material isn't as funny as "fuck you."
