THE Movie Site
Here's a site called Moon in the Gutter by a guy who adores almost all movies, movie posters, (especially the slinky ones featuring Natasha Kinsky on right and chicks like Rachel Weisz top) and focusing once in a while on movies you never heard of unless your taste ran to the bizarre..
Released in the spring of 1976 to near universal disdain and almost killing off the film career of Margaux Hemingway before it even had a chance to truly begin, Lamont Johnson’s LIPSTICK remains one of the best, if most under-appreciated, revenge flicks of the seventies. An exhilaratingly seedy film.....Exhilaratingly seedy....get the picture? No? He proves by example that women with their clothes on are a hell of a lot sexier than those who stand around naked. A movie site that recommends the first episode of "Mod Squad," a virtually unheard of Josef von Sternberg movie with Dietrich called Dishonored, has a section devoted to the fantastic (before booze) Mickey Rourke, and features The Pope of Greenwich Village as a movie of the week, a movie I thought was liked by only me and which I still think is one of the best movies of the 80s.
The downside is that he thinks George Clooney and the hate America Michael Clayton are both great, and for all I know he thinks Stalin is one of the all time unappreciated directors, but it makes no difference. The entire site (and a few others he also writes and links to) is one of those that you can spend several hours looking at and bookmarking some terrific movies. Something for the real hard core movie buff by a guy who will out movie buff anyone on the planet.
I got there through a circuitous maze starting with DuToit's great b&w layout (no longer there) on Barbara Leigh
