There Ain't No Recession

Late add to my post on Recession Indicators wherein I focused on baseball and playoff basketball ticket sales: As of this AM the Dodgers are not close to selling out on opening day, something that hasn't happened in my lifetime---and the opening series is against the supposedly hated Giants. The Lakers are still trying everything to sell out their playoff games which are priced at the low low prices of between $10 and $350 per seat from their office (never ever have tickets been available from their office, you had to pay a ten time mark from a broker). Now you just know it's the expensive seats that are not selling out. Keep in mind that season ticket holders have for years known that they could sell their playoff tickets at prices that mean their entire season ticket cost can be paid off by selling two playoff series games, sometimes with the tickets for the first series played against weak opposition. Not now, and this means bad news for places like St. Louis, New Orleans, and other blue collar spots. This could be great news for Cleveland where LaBron James is set to move to New York and a sky high salary----well, maybe not. New York is staring down the Abyss of tax bankruptcy. Stay tuned.
