HiDef TV Prices in the tank

Retail sales getting better?  I was in the local Target store on Saturday and it was packed, which is unusual for a beacheous Summer day with temps in the 90s.  Big surprise to me was the low low prices on the HiDef TVs with many under $500 and some more just under $400. But were people buying?  I didn't see a lot of full shopping carts.  Depressing further was the huge number of For Rent signs hanging from virtually every apartment building.  This is a high middle class neighborhood and it is rare to see even one apartment for rent per block.  Vacant condos litter the entire area.  This city is home to at least a third of the best restaurants in Los Angeles and many have closed.  Eeekkkk
