Finally the top people are saying we need more troops in Iraq. This is going to bite Rumsfeld and Bush in the ass because top people have said this from the start as I commented on last week. It is clear that the Army was right, the bozos were right, and Rumsfeld was wrong. The reporting from Iraq is all the lazy fucks reporting from Baghdad instead of risking their lives reporting from other places. It seems that this indeed was Tet Reporting converting riots into a civil war and an uprising ("popular revolt"-Webster) that wasn't. The Falujah thing was an insurrection by Baathist remnants. We don't have the troops to handle this. Unless the Iraqis themselves decide they want democracy enough to fight for it, this thing will end as another Muslim Cleric dictatorship (see my April 03 essay) sponsoring terrorism, becoming terrorist, and getting WMDs from Iran. Bush could easily be toast because this is entirely his show. He can't blame Clinton for Iraq. Our intel, as well as the intel from all other countries, will remain poor. I hope you read not just my essay, but ALL the links from Herb Meyer at NRO. He is the best. It was he who spotted the economic decay of the Soviet Union when nobody else saw it. He tells the hows and whys of "spying".
