Notes on a Zig Zag paper: For those of you who need just one more reason to completely hate the UN, just go here. Simply pukeification....
OK, I confess, Kobe Bryant is the best player in the NBA. I have blocked him out of my mind because of that rape in Colorado a couple of years ago, but I actually saw him play last night....the Lakers have nothing but him and they only lost by one point. He has a fade away jump shot in which he "fades away" at least eight feet, making the shot undefendable. I think he scored 49. Give the rapist his due....
IMAX changes the way a movie is viewed. I saw 300 in the process yesterday. A pretty graphic action movie is transformed into one of the goriest blood fests you can imagine. Decapitation takes on an entirely new dimension. Like a guy could really actually die from being decapitated. Who knew? BTW, domestic gross is now over $170mil, not too shabby for a $70mil largely computer created movie. Producer share is usually 55% so you know, the producers have picked up around $169mil due to the movie biz practice of "creative accounting. What is never figured in grosses is the snack bar receiveables. Think how much you spend for two popcorns and two cokes and then multiply that by the total number of seats in the house and you'll get the picture. Keep in mind that the raw syrup that are the core ingredient of snack bar type colas costs seven cents per cup....and they sell that seven cent unit for $2 and up. Ditto popcorn. When I did my own movies I gave up trying to figure a cut from snack bars because it was too easy to cheat.
If FOX and O'Reilly would stop talking endlessly about Rosie O'Donnell would anybody watch her? Those FOX assholes are creating a monster out of an ant. As a guy who went nuts over that Nissan that "talked" to you if a door was open, nagging voices enrage me. A talking Nissan pissed me off so bad that I ripped that bitch's voice out of a rental with my bare hands. Nagging screeching women are not a part of my universe. If I was in the hospital they had The View turned on I'd overdose
It is universally agreed upon that the Republican Congress of 1930 and the Republican President, Hoover, caused the Great Depression to go from a blip 9% unemployment to a catastrophic 30% by enacting prohibitive tariffs via a bill called Smoot Hawley. The Democrats are about to do the same thing by using "socialist style" interference with the domestic affairs of foreign countries as a condition of trading with us. Suddenly going "green" and telling Peru that if they don't stop cutting mahogany we will not trade with them; chalk one up for the Liberals if this comes back to bite us. Current trade "policy" is a substitute for the old foreign aid policy, a euphemism for loans that could never be repaid, a financial drain which we didn't directly feel. BTW, the Great Depression actually started in 1926 with a collapse in farm prices due to world wide over production; the tariffs enacted to protect farmers grew like the fairy tale beanstalk. I once checked old Wall Street Journals and I believe corn was a nickel a bushel (currently $4) and wheat may have been less.
Late Add: Austin Bay has a late piece on our tariff pressure being brought to bear on China over paper. This is very dangerous stuff and with the Democrats running things it could cause a real catastrophe. Politicians posing for Holy Pictures....after all it is Palm Sunday.....
Sometimes a blogger (or bloggerette) brings shit up that I haven't thought about lately and applies it to a different subject. The Advice Goddess, which is a new link on my sidebar (left), seems to fill the bill here. Semi thought provoking to those of us with reptilian IQs, a classification that fits me to a "T," whatever the hell a "T" means.
