Obama's Frisco Speech has a Stench that Won't go Away

All of us have cringed at the occasional rudeness of friends and co-workers toward waiters. USA Today, not meaning to of course, ran a piece that has been picked up around some of the worst places as proof that Obama doesn't pass the "Waiter Test."

Office Depot CEO Steve Odland remembers like it was yesterday working in an upscale French restaurant in Denver.

The purple sorbet in cut glass he was serving tumbled onto the expensive white gown of an obviously rich and important woman. "I watched in slow motion ruining her dress for the evening," Odland says. "I thought I would be shot on sight."

Thirty years have passed, but Odland can't get the stain out of his mind, nor the woman's kind reaction. She was startled, regained composure and, in a reassuring voice, told the teenage Odland, "It's OK. It wasn't your fault." When she left the restaurant, she also left the future Fortune 500 CEO with a life lesson: You can tell a lot about a person by the way he or she treats the waiter. The rule, and it is written down, is: “A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter, or to others, is not a nice person.”:

So the question before the house is "Does Obama Pass the Waiter Test?" and we all know the answer to that one. His Frisco gaffe may cost him an election. The bloggers piling on especially include Iowa Hawk and of course the tried and true Scrappleface

Very late add: Best Overview is HERE at one of my favorites. Complete with cartoons and links. And really big writing.

The Obama Question: Manufactured Angst?

This is the "get Obama" moment for many Democrats and Republicans, a chance to "brand" him in false rage about what he meant when he spoke in Frisco to his kind of people. Now folks, there ain't no blue collar people in Frisco as you'd know if you checked the insane rents there. He was speaking to his true base, the limousine liberals and tax cheat Lefties, all of whom want to reap benefits off of your dime.

I've mostly thought of myself as a Conservative guy, meaning that I don't like government sticking their noses anywhere near me, unless I need some money or a good deal. I’ve always known there was a certain amount of hypocrisy about the “movement” and never got really riled up about it. Tell me again that business is "Conservative." Lecture me how they are fiscally responsible when we see the spectacle of billions in bailouts being given to banks, stock brokers, and other hustlers because their corrupt business practices have resulted in an economic meltdown that may rival the Great Depression in its affects before this current crises is over. If it is ever over.

Whenever I'm around "real" Conservatives" I find myself in almost complete disagreement with what they say. I realize that there are such things as Easter Catholics, Jack Mormons, and Christmas Christians; meaning there are tons of people who are "Just in Case" believers who think that if there really is a God they can show up for church on Christmas and fake him out when the time comes; if we play our cards right a Heaven full of virgins will be ours. It goes with the territory that there are Jews who show for temple on Yom Kippur for twenty minutes or so and then write checks to the Temple for big amounts so God will ignore the fact that they are economic predators, spousal cheats, and otherwise moral cripples. I know most of us are conveniently this or that or partly that or this. One hundred percent is something you get on a test you cheated on.

There ain’t no “real” conservatives any more than there are “real” liberals. Conservatives (and liberals) have been broken up into private clubs. It's no surprise that like any other private club everywhere many Conservative clubs have twenty or so litmus tests you have to pass in order to be an ordained a "true" Conservative. A True Believer. You "must" believe in God and show it,; prove that you are against government intervention except when....; always know that the military is almost never wrong, that private charities can solve all social problems, or that ending Welfare for bums and cripples is a must. Especially we must be against abortion (unless it is our daughter who gets knocked up). These conditions are mandatory for a Conservative. And those conditions are just a few of the twenty or so necessary Conservative mantras many of which I don’t support or am only mildly in sympathy with.

Which brings me to the latest in the Obama litany of philosophical inconsistencies, which were it not for YouTube would never have been known. I think the uproar is the most pretentious of the failings about all of us. Boo hoo, shock awe, and omagod. He is insensitive to the life styles of small town America.

Who the fuck isn’t? I’m from a town of 5,000 on a rainy Sunday when nobody could leave it and we would have just loved to have posed for a few sacred photos of us being noble. We didn’t give a fat fuck for anybody in any town other than our own. We hated the dagos and wops (they were NOT Italian Americans) who lived in a toilet twenty miles away, the assholes living five miles away (and the most bitter of our high school football rivals), the fucking Catholics in the mostly Catholic town that was forty miles over the hill, and positively despised everybody in the nearest big city that was 155 miles up the road. We were hunters, farmers, bums, drunks, doctors, lawyers, cops, shop owners, pot growers, and craftsmen. School was out for the first day of trout season and the first day of duck hunting season. Nobody was in a union; in fact we all hated those big city commies. Church attendance was fairly high but I never heard my friends claim they believed anything that was said inside of them, and in fact we thought most of it was bullshit. Many young people joined the military to “get away” from the stifling confines of small town life (and the lack of really hot looking big city pussy).

So Obama’s so called “insulting” depiction of us would have passed over our heads with only a few shrugs of resignation which would have indicated that we knew he was no more than “another one.” No votes would have been lost or gained because we’d have already determined that he was a phony among phonies and just one more fake to deal with along with every other elected piece of shit everywhere. The really important things in life concerned sex, the summer heat, the latest “scandal” in town (there was always a whispered hot scandal of one kind or another) and the condition of the sardine, which was our only actual industry. The one that employed fifty percent of the locals at dam good pay for two months out of the year.

We always knew that everyone thought of us as hicks, boobs, ignoramuses, and gun toting spoilers of the environment. The environment: meaning the trees, bird shit, howling fucking coyotes, stinking skunks that got into our houses, raccoons that are the meanest motherfuckers on the planet, the stars, the clouds and especially the “land,” something all the out of towners claimed to adore without taking the trouble to actually live and work on it. Whenever they showed up and asked directions we’d mostly give them the wrong ones.

Nobody actually called themselves conservative. We said the Pledge, sung the Anthem, learned a little history (which we knew was big city PC crap), paid sincere homage to the guys killed in wars, knew the country was in good shape excepting New York and San Francisco, went to the car races and movies, the concerts and local football games, and especially the high school plays, band displays, art festivals, and any other activity that our kids were involved in.

I find the Conservatives know jack shit about any of that stuff and don’t really care. They are mainly interested in making a buck scaring the shit out of us. Bottom line: the only people actually bothered about what Obama said are the speech writers who may be fired for writing it.

Beneath the Smoke

The Anchoress links to this first rate insight into how Obama built his legislative record.

Illinois Senate Majority Leader Republican James “Pate” Philip was replaced by Emil Jones Jr., a gravel-voiced, dark-skinned African-American known for chain-smoking cigarettes on the Senate floor.

Jones had served in the Illinois Legislature for three decades. He represented a district on the Chicago South Side not far from Obama’s. He became Obama’s kingmaker.

Several months before Obama announced his U.S. Senate bid, Jones called his old friend Cliff Kelley, a former Chicago alderman who now hosts the city’s most popular black call-in radio program.

I called Kelley last week and he recollected the private conversation as follows:

“He said, ‘Cliff, I’m gonna make me a U.S. Senator.’”

“Oh, you are? Who might that be?”

“Barack Obama.”

Jones appointed Obama sponsor of virtually every high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and-file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and had spent years championing the bills.
A truly fascinating piece that describes how a powerful Chcago pol who was Illinois Senate Majority Leader simply substituted Obama's name for the original bill sponsors on twenty or more laws that now bear Obama's name and not the original sponsors. He's done nothing and he knows nothing, is increasingly heard in the land.

Obama Tide on the Wane?

Most of you who read me know I live on the West Side of LA, the liberal bastion of SoCal, so naturally most of my friends and acquaintances are liberal to left. I go to a few parties in the area and have never found either Che or Weather Underground celebs to be on the guest list of any of them. I was at a gathering over the weekend that was attended by more than a hundred liberals all of whom had parked their their Mercedes Benz and Porches in front of the party. Hybrid versions were presumably on order.

I was among the the three conservatives who know how to keep their mouths shut if we ever want to work in this town again, who carefully nurtured our latte’ on the rocks while pretending to love some of the neo Socialist Realism art on the walls (my particular favorite was the water color of President Reagan performing fellatio on Lenin while being anally violated by a muscular labor leader). The political conversation from the Liberals who always have big mouths to match their big bank accounts and are decidedly college grads was the major surprise. Obama has been the choice of at least half of these people, half only because the sort of feminist women crowd wanted Hillary, but not excitedly. This time it was very different, anti-Obama was the clear and overwhelming topic of conversation mainly because many "said" that he was associated with the old violent Left and had stories to prove it.

But if you really know politics you know that people never vote for the reasons they tell you and under the constant babble the real reason most had turned against the Messiah was their investments. They were worried about their investments (aside from gold) they have set aside for their kids college and their own eventual retirement. These are people who can not only add, they can multiply and divide too. This very bright bunch have added the costs of Obama's programs and they are all aware that there isn't enough money in America to pay for half of what Obama says he wants to do. Most of the guests seemed to be almost in shock, clearly shaken by the prospect of an Obama presidency; there was lots of talk about what country would be safe for their money, the falling dollar, and fear of a financial melt down. The universal opinion was that Obamanacs didn’t care about anything because they had all found God. I've never heard any West Side gathering that tilted Republican but this one certainly did.

This trendy crowd was not show biz or artsy fartsy at all. Most were working professionals in various enterprises or business owners. Normally the party conversation is about movies (every conversation in LA is partly about movies) Iraq, crooked politicians, and sports. Most notable with this gathering would be the women who were very vocal in their condemnation declaring flat out they would probably vote for McCain. Many of the animated conversations had the tone of "did you hear?" regarding another scary story about Obama. His wife was universally disliked (everybody was aware of the huge money she made in Chicago) and held in virtual contempt.

So what's important about this crowd? Seventy five percent of the men spend at least half their work days on the phone talking with people in all parts of the country. I'd suggest that an anti Obama tide is out there among the not very blue collar people that may show up on Tuesday. Don't be surprised if Hillary actually pulls out two states tomorrow. I think Obama is on his way to being toast.

Very late Add: Posted 11:10PST Rasmussen backs up this opinion with data.

All Public Servants Can Afford a 1.65 mln Dollar Mansion

Don't Ask Don't tell: Obama may be involved in a real estate fraud or two with this guy Rezko or he ain't. He may be involved with another recognized crook or he ain't. He may be involved with crooks who are in bed with the Queen of England, or he ain't. But nobody in our wonderful media bothers to ask how the hell a life-long public servant can afford a $1.65 million dollar mansion.

Our MSM is spinning this particular tale as just a house purchase and anybody who dares say anything else is (or course) a racist. They do their best to make this real estate deal seem so complicated that only those of us in the genius class can hope to understand it, and besides Obama did nothing.

However, once again the Brits, in the form of Times of London, really does nail it down so us stupid failures can grasp it.

A British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions of dollars to Barack Obama's fundraiser just weeks before an imprudent land deal that has returned to haunt the presidential contender, an investigation by The Times discloses.

The money transfer raises the question of whether funds from Nadhmi Auchi, one of Britain’s wealthiest men, helped Mr Obama buy his mock Georgian mansion in Chicago.

A company related to Mr Auchi, who has a conviction for corruption in France, registered the loan to Mr Obama's bagman Antoin "Tony" Rezko on May 23 2005. Mr Auchi says the loan, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA, was for $3.5 million. Three weeks later, Mr Obama bought a house on the city's South Side while Mr Rezko's wife bought the garden plot next door from the same seller on the same day, June 15.

Mr Obama says he never used Mrs Rezko's still-empty lot, which could only be accessed through his property. But he admits he paid his gardener to mow the lawn.

Mrs Rezko, whose husband was widely known to be under investigation at the time, went on to sell a 10-foot strip of her property to Mr Obama seven months later so he could enjoy a bigger garden. This is understandable but our ever vigilant MSM is selling the story as "Obama Regrets buying a House." If this story keeps being told by people who can write and care about the truth Obama will have some serious trouble. But not to worry, our ever vigilant media will get us all to the Promised Land. The balance of The Times piece is here.

St. Obama ad nauseum
More and more people think about this guy and come to the conclusion that he's scary. Roger L Simon is just the latest to voice his perceptions of a messianic movement, hence unthinking and dangerous. He sees a similarity to the RFK hysteria. I refer you to the McGovern "youth movement" that yielded the worst defeat for Democrats ever.

Had lunch with two totally sort of kind of Left people who think quite a bit. When I mentioned Obama they both shook their heads as if this was a subject with that certain stench to it, like a dead rat inside a wall that you know is there but cannot find. The woman went so far as to say she was going to vote for McCain.

This guy does not wear well. Thoughtful people tend to think. His Beatitudeiness will become just another "black candidate" without some sort of killer VP to restore sanity to the ticket. Hillary might prevail in Ohio and Texas, but I seriously doubt it.

Victor Davis Hanson (big surprise) has a dam good and balanced evaluation of the Obama campaign and its underlying message. MUST READ

Are we waking from the Obama Trance?

The Awakening? Lots of middle of the road to slightly left types are slowly beginning to ask themselves if they are sleepwalking through this campaign. The lack of substance beneath the mist cast over the landscape by the Obama dream machine is troubling to many. He is a blank page on a word processor; just type in what you think and feel and that’s who he is. He’s a “fill in the blanks” candidate. Large numbers of actual women are fainting dead away from hearing him–so part of the problem may be in the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote (note: doubt has been cast over the legitimacy of the fainters. All incidents are exactly the same, Obama's reactions ditto). The haze around the brains of too many of the sons and daughters of the usual suspects who don’t know or care what Obama’s position is on anything just so long as he’s black and sounds good is a huge part of Obama. The Sandman has put them all to sleep so they can dream their dreams of what Obama stands for.

But the magic sand gently sprinkled upon their eye lids is beginning to lose its powers. Some of the sleeping dupes are stirring. According to eye witnesses, when Obama is stripped of his teleprompter and notes he reveals himself to be a nasty liberal devoid of humor or grace.

The people saying that are dead wrong....But a few of The Dupes are asking questions......

"Wait a second," some are saying. "We're talking about the presidency of the United States, not the mayor of Scarsdale or a city councilman from Carmel. Just what are we doing?" It's as if an entire population has allowed itself to become hypnotized by the stage magician and as a few of them wake they are astounded to see their friends happily crowing like chickens or braying like goats just as the magician told them to do after they willingly allowed him to place them in a trance.

And so it is. Victor Davis Hanson is seeing him as a real life Bill McCay, the lead character in the 1972 movie, The Candidate, where Redford as McCay allows himself to be manipulated by others so he can win an election but wakes up after "winning" and asks of the his now invisible handlers, "What do we do now?"

The Candidate is a very poor analogy for the phenomenon that is Barak Obama. For one thing this guy is not being manipulated by some off stage mystic. If anything, Obama is the mystical Rasputin himself, come alive on stage in front of us. He paints in our minds the Romanov villains of this country, which he says are Big business, big pharm, big insurance companies and so on, and we all know what happened to the Romanovs. So Obama shows us what is wrong with this country. What is his solution to what’s wrong with this country? I mean what exactly is he going to do?

First, its clear that we leave those Iraqi towel heads to be slaughtered by the Iranians, Syrians, and AlQaeda as we cut and run. He has also told us that medical care is our problem that will be solved by single payer universal medical care. He intends to solve the problem of education, not by doing anything about unfit parents and unfit teachers, but by hiring more teachers who will join their union so they cannot be fired. He intends to give us all a tax break by reimbursing us for all the FICA deductions now being stolen from our pay. To be clear, the FICA tax is a United States payroll (or employment) tax imposed by the federal government on both employees and employers to fund Social Security and Medicare—federal programs that provide benefits for retirees, the disabled, and children of deceased workers. Social Security benefits include old-age, survivors, and disability insurance (OASDI); Medicare provides hospital insurance benefits.

Since we won’t have to pay for this stuff, either our employers will pay or the General Tax fund will pay and nobody asks how all this will work, but he tells us WE won’t have to pay it any more. Oh, thank God for Obama.

OBTW, LGF has a post up that spells out a horrible tax proposal by Obama. One that puts us under the direction of the UN and will cost us 800bln plus. He wants to tax EVERY AMERICAN overseas and put the money into the UN.

Please don’t wake up yet, the election is eight months away.
