MOVIES More "if it don't feel good don't release it" for this Holiday season. Eddie Murphy, Elf, Cat in the Hat, and then a nothing box office. As I said earlier, whoever thought of releasing a nasty piece of shit like "Bad Santa" during the Holiday should be shoveling shit in Louisiana. With even more "bad news" movies about to hit with big big budgets and Academy nominations "guaranteed" one wonders if the movie business is starting to come unraveled. I don't know whatever happened to "Peace on earth to Men of Good Will" but Hollywood doesn't give a shit about it.

Markets and Economy
CAR CORPORATIONS COULD FAIL

More and more
economists see the huge pension and health care costs being bourne by Ford and GM as a disaster. Many are flat predicting that both companies may fail as early as this year and many big funds are shorting both companies. Health care costs could be a HUGE election issue. Markets seem to be shrugging off bad news right now but the cheap dollar is a VERY serious problem. Watch your numbers. My bet is that the dollar will turn, Europeans will jump into the market, and it will rally 500 points in two days. I never make buy recommendations but right now I'm a buyer of deep out of the money S&P call options. Look to triple your money, but be sure you play with risk cap, money you can easily afford to lose.

ON SICK LEAVE TIL JANUARY Posts will be ocasional til then. Had a heart attack.

If there was NO government subsidy of any drug purchase, no insurance to reduce cost, and only the consumer to pay for prescriptions, how many "new" drugs would be produced? GO HERE

THE REASON BUSH IS PLACING TARIFFS ON FOREIGN GOODS has finally dawned on me. It's the terribly serious "Out Sourcing" problem that is now hitting hard. I linked you to Winds of Change yesterday which has a pretty good thread on the subject.

What is not included in all discussions is the root cause of this "out sourcing". The huge benefits package that corporations are now paying out is destroying most of the big companies, even though they report big profits. Medical Care, Retirement, and law suits are about to kill the Golden Goose and we have to fix it. Tariffs are at best a temporary band aid. Germany and France are having the same problems except in those countries the Government is stuck with the retirement packages. This SHOULD be an election issue except that the Democrats only want tariffs. Somebody will finally talk about this. I think.

A note on film criticism in general (see my opinion of Master etc. below). These people are all Left Wing Liberal Democrats. What they want to see is movies that show this country and the people in it as awful. That is why they praise movies like Mystic River, Dead Man Walking and so on. ESPECIALLY if they feature America hating stars. Every once in a while they will get on what they feel is a "band wagon" and approve a movie they feel everyone will like anyway; Master and Commander is an example. They automatically fall in love with boring movies that just talk and talk and talk, always about how bad everything is and never about how good things are or can be. Movie critics are a part of the "America is always Wrong" Media Elite. They adore Station Agent because the people are slobs, drug users, and they talk and talk and talk. Anyway, you get it.

Master and Commander is not doing the business expected and it just goes to show that audiences somehow or other sense when a movie isn't all that great. This movie, which has a ton of good things about it, is a total and complete mess where it counts most; the ending. (And at the box office.)

A note to director peter Wier: Bad guys wear black hats and good guys wear white hats. That's so the audience can tell the good guys from the bad ones. D.W. Griffith understood that; Erich van Stroheim got that; Cecil B DeMille too; but not Peter Wier. The final battle scene is a total mess because some genius came up with the idea to disguise the English as French. You cannot tell who is who, even Russel Crowe is clouded in smoke sometimes. Who are the French? Who are the Brits? Everybody knows that the French wear blue and the Brits wear red. Except for this fucking mess. Never in my life, except for the equally flawed "Heaven's Gate", have I seen a movie that had a major battle that didn't "work".

To top it off, I couldn't understand all the Goddam Brit accents which meant I was lost a good deal of the time. A decent movie but hardly the sensation that critics say it is. Wait for the video if you have a good system at home because at $8 to $15 it is not worth it. Cat in the Hat and Elf are doing the big box office right now.

And who ever the fuck thought that "Bad Santa" during the Holiday Season was a good idea is probably working at Disney. Picking up cigarette butts at one of their Theme Parks. The "critics" hated Cat in the Hat, audiences love it (any of these fag critics have kids?). Not too thrilled with Gothika, audiences love it. Only Elf has both critics and audience approval.

So what has happened to "Mystic River"? It may be that audiences absolutely hate the Hollywood Left movie stars because this very good movie (about disgusting people) is doing nothing. Matrix etc. is another violent movie released for the Holidays and it is bombing big time. I'd say this is not a Holiday Season for any movie that isn't an upper for the family. Nobody is going to take the kiddies to see Master and Commander, Matrix etc., Bad Santa, or any of the gore and whore pics the genius crowd in Hollywood decided needed to be made.

Drug Legislation
IS THE CHOICE GIVE THEM MONEY OR LET THEM DIE?

Price controls on prescription drugs will destroy research and development for new drugs. Would that be a bad thing?
If there was NO government subsidy of any drug purchase, no insurance to reduce cost, and only the consumer to pay for prescriptions, how many "new" drugs would be produced?
If you ran a shoe store in a working class neighborhood would you stock a hundred or so shoes that sold for $500 a pair? Would you choose to become the only Rolls Royce dealer in Arm Pit South Dakota? So why would anyone choose to sell a product to an entire population that would cost $1,000 a month til death? $5,000 per month? $10,000 per month? No normal business catering to the entire population would consider it because only the upper income people could afford it.

The prescription drug business is not "normal" business. We have a prescription drug business that produces ever new and ever "better" drugs that cost more and more. These "drugs" will keep people alive, reduce or eliminate pain, and in some cases actually "cure" disease. They are truly "miracles". Part of the "profits" from drug sales go to research and development for more new drugs that will cure more disease and will be even more expensive and thus affordable to fewer and fewer people, at least at first.

If there was NO government subsidy of any drug purchase, no insurance to reduce cost, and only the consumer to pay for prescriptions, how many "new" drugs would be produced? Thomas Edison, the inventor of inventing, would only "invent" things he thought he could sell. Our drug companies, due to the economic climate, don't think about "selling" a "miracle" as much as they think about getting either government or insurance to pay for them. Government will now pay for my erections, my depressions, even my sexually transmitted diseases. Who cares how much they cost? My iron erections are important to me; I can't live without them. Once assured that government or insurance will foot the bill, the drug companies invent.

The only Rolls Royce dealer in Arm Pit sells $200,000 cars to people who's purchases are paid for by somebody else. His Rolls Royce business is booming.

It's time to ask ourselves if we need more and more new drugs. Because the end result of the drive to "reduce costs" will be the end of research and development. The real question should be: is this bad? Then, if we decide we want new drugs in the pipeline all the time, what will be the cost and how will we pay. Another farm "program" where the favorite disease of each Congressional rep will be funded? (Barbara Boxer will demand abortion pills; Nancy Pelosi a face lift drug, and so on) Pressure group diseases? We already have AIDS research driven by a small pressure group of homosexuals who just "have" to have their sex lives subsidized by the rest of us. Alcoholics who "won't" go to AA for free are now "cured" by government programs and drugs that cost thousands and thousands of dollars per "cure".

There is no clear answer here, but it's time we asked the real question: Do we want more and more new miracles invented or not?

A really good thread over at Winds of Change regarding the out sourcing of "good jobs". My response to the very good discussion and blog piece is basically outsourcing is the reason Bush is imposing tariffs right now. He is ahead of the curve here. I agree with a lot of people that this should be a huge election issue but it isn't YET. This is mainly because the Democrats are so nasty, so anti-American, anti-defense that they don't see the country. They only represent the people who want to destroy capitalism.

Tariffs is the answer Bush has in the works for this issue. Read the thread, linked by Reynolds, Quick, and just about everybody. This IS a problem.

A terrific Rose Bowl game has been avoided because the only remotely good team in the PAC 10 will play Oklahoma. What is left in that sorry excuse for a conference is nobody. The BCS has destroyed the Bowls, given us nothing at all to replace "voting". Get ready for Bowl games comprised of teams people do not want to see. USC vs Oklahoma and then what? Oklahoma by 28. Except.....I am informed by several computer types that LSU may end up the BCS #2; this is because (get this) Washington State lost. AND Oregon State lost. In fact this computer nerd tells me he thinks that LSU is a lead pipe cinch if they run the table. This would make the Rose Bowl of USC vs Michigan the game to watch. Don't blame me, I'm only the messenger.

Roger L Simon reports on the EU coverup of the EU ant-semitism report that they requested. Ship of Fools? I don't know but I think Hayek covered it and I posted about bureaucratic planners below

An erection is no big deal til you can't get one
"CIALIS" FOR YOUR PHALLUS

THE fuck drug, Cialis, the three day (72 hour-4,320 minute, 259,200 second) woodie is here. The miracle drug. The fountain of lust. The ultimate erectile function. "Cialis for your phallus" will be the new cry. Can you imagine? Every guy over the age of twenty five is going to be limping around with a three day iron club that won't go away. We won't be able to work, run, or do anything but fuck. Heaven is here. Wife cheating will be OK. "Geez honey, I just had to. I couldn't help myself." Three days of fucking? Fuhgedaoudit.

Markets and Economy for the Small Investor
VOLUME UBER ALLES

To most of us, volume is one of THE necessary criteria for investing.
Volume has been a concern for quite a while now. It is always down a little during the ten days before Thanksgiving, and off big time during Thanksgiving week. As I've been stating repeatedly over the past couple of weeks, the combo of protectionism, the unending scandals in the investment field, plus the collapse of the dollar is now hurting big time. Foreigners are especially hurt by all this and are pulling out of a market that guarantees they will lose due to the currency risk; this risk added on to the criminal nature of the banks, brokers, and institutions is not designed to make an investor feel confident. This atmosphere is made much worse by the inexcusable "virtual pardon" given to Putnam by the SEC. Those guys belong in jail. Instead we see the "old boy network" at the SEC is still in charge. Were it not for Elliot Spitzer, the AG of New York, this criminality would continue unabated..

Most in the financial community who are honest are in despair. Most of us blame George W. Bush. And, as I said yesterday, if there was anyone else to vote for that person would probably win, or at least assure the victory for the Democrats. These tariffs are particularly bad. The Republicans caused the Great Depression with high tariffs (Smoot Hawley) and they are on the same path now. Trade wars are just that: wars. People will get back at you and once the process starts it is all over. I cannot tell you how bad all this "protectionism" is for markets..

All calls for a 10,000 Dow by Christmas are out the window. The Indexes do NOT look strong due to the volume collapse. This is now NOT a market for new investment based on the overall market being strong. This is a HOLD market so long as your individual stocks look good and are performing well. All the indicators are still strong; jobs are getting better and the Fed is withdrawing liquidity from the market, meaning real rates will rise over the next few weeks.

I always look at market numbers, and only market numbers. One of the key numbers is volume and I don't like what I see. The stock market is almost, ALMOST, always ahead of the game; it said the economy was getting better long before many of the numbers said so. This market will tell you, and may be telling you right now, that things are not all that good. Bush will have to back off the tariffs, or else. IBD has a major story in Monday's edition. I cannot understand what is happening, as I speculated yesterday: maybe Bush IS a moron.

Again, this financial opinion is aimed at the small investor, those of you with less than $50K in the markets. Especially those of you with $25K and less. Your purpose is to build AND to PRESERVE CAPITAL. Don't get drunk on stories. Stick with numbers.

My spam is down more than 80% over the past month. The ISP I use has a spam blocker that seems to work other than to allow ads for illegal drugs, huge dicks, and those all important Nigerian biz ops. So I sit here with a ten inch cock, loaded out of my mind, but broke til that Nigerian money comes in. If you don't know what I'm talking about link HERE to the Drudge referral. That guy will never be convicted. Jury nullification if I ever saw it.

Oh those 750 SAT scores--four football players arrested for murder. And Ohio State AGAIN and isn't that program dirty as hell? They are obviously accepting "students" who cannot possibly cut it in class hoping their play will make up for it. The University (oxymoron???) is responsible. And if you want to know why Los Angeles wants nothing to do with Al Davis returning with his football team, check out this story about Raider fans. The attitude of management attracts hooligans and gangsters.

"Follow the Frogs" There is an allegory to use when you look at the Democratic Left formula to end capitalism and impose "equality" (egalitarianism; taxation of the rich; property seizures, etc.). So far their plan hasn't worked. "The Frog" analogy was taught in some vicious Right Wing class I took one time (the professor has probably been shipped to an academic gulag like Cal State Weed where he can teach home economics to unwed mothers) . The frog allegory works this way. If you dump a frog into boiling water (equality) the frog will jump out. However if you pretend to be nice and put the froggie into cold water and then turn the heat on under the pan, the frog will fall asleep before he knows he's cooked. Too many of us have seen the burner under the pan and so those of us who are uncooked know the game. We ain't voting to sit in the cool water like we're told.

IF SNOOP DOG RAN IRAQ

To paraphrase Hayek: The guys who can do the best job of using real power are the most brutal among us. The dopes who are the most humanitarian are rotting away in monasteries, homeless shelters, mental hospitals, and the State Department. We are asking the hot house flowers who belong in the aforementioned institutions as either inmates or caretakers to use actual power to subdue Terrorists, Baathists, and criminals in Iraq as well as build "infrastructure".

What would Mother Teresa do? What would "It Takes a Village" do? Why they'd take up contributions from around the world using TV commercials featuring starving little Muslims (The Left Comics do a telethon and raise millions: Q. What is red and orange and looks great on a Jew? A. Fire.....ha ha ho ho and the millions roll in), endangered species in the swamps (100,000 march to save Marsh Arabs and their fishies), and zoo animals being ignored (million person march to save helpless animals). They'd collect the money and throw it at hospitals, schools, roads, and sensitivity training to Terrorists.

What would Al Capone do? What would Snoop Dog do?

"Listen you towel headed cock sucker. You Allah loving piece of shit. You do what I tell you to do or you sleep in camel shit and your ugly wife sucks my dick. Get it?"

Businesses under the Snoop Dog government would suddenly start all by themselves. Capital? Doesn't anyone with a Ph.D. from "Haavahd" know that labor is capital too? Cocaine is capital? That capital is whatever can be exchanged for goods and services. "Come up with the $20 you owe me or I break your fingers," works. Waiting til he gets his welfare check will result in waiting til he gets his next one, and his next one, and the one after that, until you get tough. Roads? Well if you have to get your goods from Baghdad to South Bum Fuck you will cause roads to be built. If Snoop is getting a piece Snoop will get the roads built faster than a track star on steroids. Another way of saying that throwing money has got to stop. Snoop has got to be paid enough by our government so he builds roads without bribes; a cost to the taxpayer of not more than $200,000 (as opposed to $87 billion).

OK. What we have now is that Mother Teresa has built schools and hospitals. It's time for Snoop to take over. What people don't want to think about, mainly because the Media is doing the talking, is that the Marshall Plan, which threw a ton of money into Europe, did next to nothing for Europe in 1947. It simply put a floor under most economies allowing them to build quickly; in other words it prevented starvation for a year or two. The French built France, the Germans built Germany, and so on. Only if left alone will Iraq build Iraq. Our only job is to get tough with the bad guys so it can be allowed to happen, without government interference.

The way Hayek saw the Humanitarian "nation building" is summarized HERE, and to sum up his "Road to Serfdom" here are the Twelve Steps to the end. See if it sounds familiar:
1. Planners (the ones who should be in institutions) promise utopia. Their plan works good in rural areas. Some workers are happy too. Everybody votes to elect the planners.
2. The "planners" can't get together on the new Utopia. Each has his own "plan" and won't budge.
3. Under presssure they come up with a plan. The citizens don't like the plan. What is good for rural people isn't good for city people.
4. The "planners" who can't bring themselves to force anything on anybody, start "hoping" for the best.
5. The planners now try to "sell" their plan. They use media. They now are close to controlling media. The first step to a dictator.
6. The Gullible Find Agreement. But the rest are pissed and form protest meetings. The least educated---thrilled and convinced by wild oratory, form a party.
7. Confidence in Planners fades. The more that Planners improvise the more disturbance to normal business. Everybody suffers. People now feel (rightly) that planners can't get things done.
8. A strong man is given power "temporarily". He will hammer out a plan and enforce it. They all believe they will take it back when they want to.
9. The party takes over the country. By now, confusion is so great that obedience to the new leader must be obtained at all costs. You may even join in order "to help the country".
10. A NEGATIVE aim welds party unity. The early step of all dictators is to enflame the populace against some entity. The Nazis were against the Jews. The Soviet against all business and capital (anybody they labeled).
11. Nobody opposes the leader because to do so would be suicide. The "Plan" now works.
So here's the "Plan".
A. Your profession is now planned
B. Your wages are planned
C. Your thinking is planned. The Planners can't have people revolting against the Plan, so while they mean well you can't think. Posters, TV, newspapers all tell you exactly the same thing.
D. Recreation is planned. National teams, the sports played, who plays them etc., are now part of The Plan
E. And of course discipline is planned. You can be shot for things that aren't a part of The Plan.
That, in Mr. Hayek's view, is the result of the "Humanitarian" planners running things. Sound familiar? Putin? Sadddam? Idi Amin? All sounds good when it starts.

Snoop and Capone would do it different. So would Patton.

A very late add: According to the Financial Times, the EU "planners" have covered up a report on EU anti-Semitism that made them look bad. Controlling the media is a step toward the Serf State of Hayek. Link courtesy of Roger l.

Corruption and Protectionism a Platform for the GOP?

The Systemic corruption in the investment world is going to bite this time. It seems that there is no end to this "tunnel". Corruption is everywhere. When you combine this with the obscene slap on the wrist that our "Regulator" handed Putnam (a civil suit settled for cash for a series of felonies), people are losing confidence in Wall Street and losing it fast. And pay attention: Greenspan has warned about protectionism as he warned about "irrational exuberance". Nobody in the Administration is paying any attention at all as nobody paid attention to the earlier warning. When you combine the ineffectual enforcement of the investment laws with the horrid protectionism you have a formula for a real collapse in the market. The dollar is in freefall, our Iraq situation is not getting better, and the increase in Terror Attacks seems unending; not the ingredients for a stock market to rally. Bush appointed another "weenie" to run the SEC and if it weren't for Elliot Spitzer, the AG of New York State, Putnam would be off scott free. I'd say that if the Democrats had a normal Democrat running, Bush would lose in a landslide. These issues are too big not to be addressed by a party interested in the welfare of the United States. LATE ADD: Market is down and all the "talk" is about the protectionism. Japan is retaliating, Europe is retaliating, and so is China. This tariff policy is insane and if Bush doesn't step in to stop it, God knows what will happen. This is crazy. Maybe Bush really is a moron.

I get the feeling, only a feeling, that Michael Jackson is being rousted. By an obsessed DA and a great white shark Media. Something just doesn't seem right about this thing.

DEMOCRATS PREACH TO CORPSES

The AARP/Democrat/MediCare Beef and what it means. Well, first it means the Democrats are losing power and are looking for any issue to galvanize their base. Most importantly it means that the Depression Era elderly are all dead and buried. This was a class that saw themselves as victims of a failed economic system and their only salvation was Franklyn Delano Roosevelt, the New Deal, and government "protecting" them. The Elderly, AARP members, and the rest are now the 50's generation and part of the 60s. They are smart, they have made money in markets, they are more highly educated, and most importantly don't want to sack their children and grandchildren. They are at least half Republicans and they understand the limits of a Welfare State. Blue State Democrats are basically Left Wing Capitalist haters more interested in destroying Capitalism than anything else. The AARP now represents a different constituency than they did a decade ago; like in night and day different. You have to be eighty years old to actually have lived in the Depression; faced a future with no future at all, no food, no job, no nothing. Those people are all dead. It's a new AARP and the Democrats preach to corpses.

PARIS HILTON IS A PIG and anybody who could fuck that ugly piece of shit deserves Oscar consideration. As a man who has fucked and will fuck almost anything let me just say: Rick Salomon for Actors Studio "Man of the Year". I've seen better looking girls begging for booze money outside AA meetings. Miss Ugly USA.

A Word about the FOREX trading "scandal"----BULLSHIT. I, and everybody I know, has ratted these cocksuckers out to everybody we could over the past ten or so years. These types had offices in every center in the U.S. The so-called traders were semi-literate baboons who could con people over the phone. No newspaper (surprise surprise) bothered to look into any FOREX boiler room anywhere. This "surprise" is only a surprise because the lazy fucking reporters at major media refused to report documented abuses for more than ten years. One more case of our media letting us down, and I mean letting us down, because of their refusal to report anything out of the main stream. BTW STILL nothing on the Weekly Standard pieces on the CIA memos anywhere but on the Web, Part Two of which is HERE if you didn't link yesterday.

Republican and Conservative orgs are now being banned from college campuses (a piece from Front Page HERE) in what could be the best thing to happen to Republicans since Lincoln. Nothing, and I mean nothing, gets kids going than something that is banned. Think back on your own ill spent youths. Republicans are rated "X". Babes, booze, sex, and Republicans; if you had any doubt that the Republican Party is the future, this seals the deal. Paris Hilton's picture will replace the elephant on all Republican Literature.

The reasons for the ban at this particular college, and one that will spread, is that they refuse to sign the "Diversity Pledge", which is a PC statement that they will admit anybody who wants to join. Meaning a Republican Club has to admit Communists, Terrorists, Nazis, and so on. Stupid on its face. The Democratic Clubs and orgs all sign it, but that says more about Democrat principals than any of us want to know. The reasoning behind Republican refusal to sign the "diversity" pledge is solid, and every group with any guts at all should refuse also. Read the piece and you'll see.

A PROVOCATION FOR TURKISH INTERVENTION IN IRAQ???

The bombings in Turkey have a stench to me. The government there is Islamist, they basically stabbed us in the back over Iraq, it is a power in the Mid-East, and if aroused can cause major problems for Iran and Syria. Alqaeda? I don't think so. Something else is going on here. I don't pretend to know what. It's a lead pipe cinch that the bombs themselves come from Iraq. There is no Baathist presence in Turkey; the Kurds populate much of the south of Turkey, there is a form of democratic government there that is very stable, and they have a reputation for toughness that is legendary. I don't get it. UNLESS there is some sort of effort to provoke Turkish intervention in Iraq, an event that would really destabilize the country since Iraq doesn't want them.

Any pretext of Conservative GOP is toast. The energy bill is a horror of pork, the quotas, the steel tariffs, the insane spending (aside from military), the ongoing destruction of the dollar which is a destruction of every investment anyone has proves it. Why vote at all? We have a voracious electorate focused on devouring our country of all nutrients. Again, these "quotas" on Chinese clothing is a massive tax increase on those Americans who need to shop for the best prices.

11/19/2003

If a Conservative media outlet reports something, it is not news. That is about the only thing we can conclude from the continuing Media blackout of the Weekly (Daily??) Standard report on the CIA memo. Major circulation blogs like Sullivan, Reynolds, and Slate have reported it but NOBODY else. This is like a giant middle finger by the main media toward everyone in America. They don't care. It's not news unless it confirms their anti-Bush agenda, I guess. Confirms our worst opinions about media bias. The Second Part is out this AM, HERE.

MILLIONAIRE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD SCABS STRIKE AGAIN---"Master and Commander" ANOTHER DISGUSTING EXAMPLE

More blog bullshit about movies--- this time calling attention to Master and Commander being a "Hollywood" movie about old time masculinity. If it's masculine it ain't from Hollywood---- The writer of the novel is a Brit, the writer of the screenplay is Australian and he also directed. The star, Russel Crowe, is Australian too. The story is British, almost all the actors are either Brit or Aussie. Only the money was American. This movie, a hell of a movie, is really Australian. It's as Hollywood as Brisbane or Ensenada (Fox Studios Baja). Behind the camera it is Hollywood because nobody can do the tech stuff like Hollywood, if Mexico is Hollywood because that's where most of it was shot. No swishy bullshit in this movie, story, or presentation. BTW casting calls for this movie emphasized that SAG had no jurisdiction, meaning union rules didn't exist (viva Mexico), a typical Hollywood stunt.
Bouley (casting director) says the film is not under Screen Actors Guild jurisdiction, and stresses that the casting call, which will be held between 4 and 8 p.m., is open to both professionals and amateurs.
So there. The big actors, all members of the SAG, once again fucked all their "fellow" union members so they could line their pockets, as did Writer-Director-Producer Peter Wier; so I guess it is American as apple pie, burritos, and scab labor. Millionaire Liberals strike again.

Dollar Collapse Means You are Losing Your Asses

BUSH PUTS TARIFFS ON CHINESE CLOTHING Bush has stuck the poorest Americans with a monster tax hike. He is NOT a free trader and these tariffs are the worst thing since Hoover. A depression maker. The stock market did NOT go down over the past two days because of terror fears and the dollar has not collapsed becaue of them. Both are in the toilet because of these tariff policies; and the dollar is now a concern, losing almost 3% on Tuesday alone. No matter what you think you are making in the stock market, those profits are being wiped out by the collapse of the dollar. Your investments have lost 10% in the last two months, mostly because of Bush policies. Really really watch yourselves. Bush is not a Conservative and not a good president. Jesus, who can we turn to? Everything I've been saying about the markets is now on hold. This is shockingly bad policy. Astoudingly bad, but the Big Media is mis-reporting what is going on as usual.

It's the tarrifs, stupid. The tarrifs.

Late add in response to emails Tariffs are economically destructive because they raise prices. Tarffs are a direct tax on consumers. This is a tax hike, and a tax hike on the poorest of Americans (the ones who supposedly are too poor to pay Federal Income Tax), the ones who shop for cheap clothing at places like Wal-Mart a seller of $14 billion worth of Chinese clothing to American buyers. It is a massive tax on about a hundred million people. Listen to the markets, not the pols.

11/18/2003

The Mass Supremes has now written law and they proudly proclaim same. A "Gay" marriage composed of two men who sodomize each other, suck each other, have no children, and engage in nothing other than those disgusting activities are not like me. Not like me and my wife. Not like me and my family. This is another move by the Left to "secularize" this country, to demean marriage into mere copulation rights. This is great for rug munchers and shit stabbers and nobody else. My longer essay is HERE.

If you don't drop by HERE at least once a week, do it now. I am in love with the coyote hat, an Xmas must have. And Ashley Judd is a must want. And here are some stats from there:
Here are the statistics from the National Safety Council: In the year 2000, firearms killed 600 Americans accidentally. That's 600 out of nearly 280 million. Here are the other numbers of accidental fatalities for that year: autos, 43,000; falls, 16,200; poisons, 11,700; drowning, 3,900; ingestion of food or other object, 3,400. The only number of fatalities lower than accidental firearms deaths is that from poison gases – 400.
So babes, barbs, and boom booms it's all there. A good week.

Hate Never Dies----- As we are bombarded with the insults and ruthless attacks on Bush and our country for DARING to oust one of the cruelest dictators who ever walked, I had some thoughts. I'm an older fart than most and I cannot remember national political discourse this foul in my lifetime, one that includes Joe McCarthy. I leave out the locals who yelled racist crap in the South to other racists with no wide circulation beyond the tree stump from which they orated; people I happened to hear in stunned disbelief when I toured the South in the late 50s with my Jewish dad.

I think what we have today is the old racist and anti-Catholic/anti-Semitic "locals" that nobody "important" used to hear getting a world wide audience. Now these hate filled quasi-educated soldiers of the Left get to shoot off their mouths from a tree stump that spans the globe. The Mayor of London is a small time pol. Jessie Jackson ditto; the mopes at Move On.Org are the local racist Jew baiting cheering audiences who used to applaud, and vote, for the small time race hustlers. Now those audiences get to speak. All get their hate filled fifteen minutes, but on an international stage. The problem is that the combined fifteens of the Left drown out the rest of us. We might do well to remember our past and reflect about some of the vicious and corrupt bastards we elected when nobody but us heard what they stood for.

We live in an age where pornographers are glorified as artists, empty suits are self praised as intellects, and murderers are elevated to political prisoner status by our Media. A Media that includes the Web, the Blogs, and the various "writers" appearing within.

Then we have these fucking elections. Elections. Without THEM the rest of us would have no voice at all.

But we do have them.

At least for now.

More on Bobby Jindal loss in LA; the Times Picayune in New Orleans now confirms my speculation below that the Republican loss was a direct result of whites refusing to vote for him. Glenn Reynolds will probably discover it tomorrow.

I guess Glenn Reynolds doesn't read me either. I had all this stuff on the leaked memo last week too. I'm on top of it, or at least I'm hanging on to its tail.

Spin till you're too dizzy to think. Read every headline about the Democrat winning in Louisiana and it reads WOMAN elected and FIRST WOMAN elected governor. What it won't say is that the loser was an Indian Republican (like in real India, like near China India) and that it is just possible that racism played a huge part in his loss. The Republican, a guy named Bobby Jindal, is going to be a major player in both Republican and national politics. A real talent that will not be kept down. Smart as hell and I mean really smart. So the liberal press does their thing spinning it as WOMAN, not Democrat, wins; leaving out Bobby and who he is. That and the continuing blackout of the CIA memo says volumes; still not in the Times, NY or LA.

I scooped the Big Media by almost a week-- I pointed out that the EU tariffs were targeting states that were marginal for Bush last Tuesday. Today Andrew Sullivan spots the story in the Guardian and it's actually news to him. Hey, you saw it here first. My story says that the DNC gave them the data. Where I supposedly missed was some the states now being mentioned (totally stupid, but it's the Guardian and Sullivan so what do you expect?), as well as the facts that now they WILL target cotton, a product in such short supply right now that cotton prices are at the moon and cotton farmers have already sold their crops forward for cash; meaning Sullivan and the Guardian are assholes, as usual. Topping that, the biggest cotton producing states are safe for Bush; Texas and Mississippi, while the other one, California, is safe for Democrats. Here's the Guardian breakdown of total fiction:
Florida and its citrus products. The state was the scene of the "hanging chad" saga in the 2000 presidential election, after Mr Bush and Al Gore virtually tied there (GOP currently up by 20% in polls and California, the other big citrus state, too Democratic to count);
· Wisconsin and its apples and paper. (I think all foreigners are morons. Do they know how much paper weighs? Wisconsin is shipping paper to Europe is like sending lead by FedX. Maybe they mean tissue paper) Mr Gore won this state by a tiny margin; (the Brits seem not to notice Washington, the biggest apple producer of all and how do you block apples from one state and not all states??)
· Tennessee and its chemicals. Mr Bush scored a narrow victory in Mr Gore's home state; Total and complete stupidity. Texas and Louisiana currently produce about 70% of all primary petrochemicals in the U.S. Bravo Guardian, the New York Times of the EU.
· Iowa and its agricultural equipment. This state will play a key role when the nominations battle starts in January. Iowa is not even LISTED in the government stats as being in the top producers of Farm Equipment, with Kansas and Wisconsin far and away the largest, and California having the most plants.
A trade embargo on agricultural products doesn't work because all commodities trade on the world market. You buy orange juice on the world market, if Brazil is short they will fill the order with U.S. juice. Same with every commodity. When you boycott a manufactured product like steel or tractors then it works. The boycott on chemicals might work, only the states hurt are on the Gulf Coast. At any rate I guess guys like Sullivan only believe it when they see it in jolly old Empire News.

BIG MEDIA BLACKOUT

If there is a leak from the Senate Intelligence Committee about CIA knowledge of Iraq and nobody from Big Media reports it, was there a report at all? I guess that's what the "plot" is. Hard to believe but what else are we to think? Weekly Standard is now up. So you can read the ENTIRE LEAKED INTEL MEMO for details about Iraq/Terror links and planning. The comments over at Roger L Simon all said there would be a media blackout on this story. I at first figured it was a bunch of paranoid Right Wing assholes, that of course the New York Times and LA Times would report it. WRONG. Neither paper reports it. So far this only a web story, or more precisely a Blog story. Nobody at all is carrying it. A Senator leaked it. The Standard is a Right Wing paper so I am assuming that Pat Robertson, the Republican Head of the committee, leaked it. But these Senators are total complete slime. This was a TOP SECRET memo. Jesus.

STAY OUT OF IRAQ OR ELSE Another word from the dumb money, namely me; all the smart guys are saying the bombing in Turkey is stupid and the sign of desperation. WRONG I think it's a sign of increasing strength, money to buy the stuff, and a statement of daring and bravado. Kill the Jews, nobody can protect them; not America, Turkey, the U.N., nobody; and BTW stay out of Iraq or this is what will happen. I think it may be exacerbated by our failure to subdue Iraq, but I doubt that this is stupid or desperate. These guys are serious. It's a statement.

11/15/2003

My view regarding Democracy in Iraq has been posted at the Wall Street Journal reader response page. I've been saying for six months that a Western style democracy is a near impossibility in Iraq due to their long history. I opined here that a form of the Millet System could work because it worked for a thousand years.

Markets and Economy
A HEALTHY PAUSE

A chart pattern known as
consolidation or trading range is what is happening right now. It's a pause. The market is tired and taking a rest. Keep in mind that all "trading range" patterns can break DOWN as well as up. Technically the market looks to break out and not down, but just pay attention to your individual stocks and stops, watch the averages and you'll be all right. Keep in mind that volume begins to tail off prior to Thanksgiving and tends to explode right afterwards. I made the biggest score in my life the day after Thanksgiving back in the 80s.

My worry about the market is here and those things are still right in front of us. Don't get sloppy.

A RAPACIOUS ECONOMIC THUG TURNS LEFT AND TOSSES $15 MILLION OF HIS $15 BILLION INTO THE POT

George Soros (AKA Schwartz) and his $15 million donation to the the Democrats could be a preemptive strike to avoid prosecution. $15 million could just be starters. This is the guy who almost single handedly destroyed the currencies as well as the markets of most of S.E. Asia in the late 90's. After virtually destroying Thailand he sacked Indonesia and Malaysia. Then turned his pillagers eye toward Hong Kong and China which he felt was right for picking. But it was at Hong Kong and China where his rapacious sweep was stopped cold; the Chinese stood up, backed their own currency and propped up their markets with the nation's treasury. Soros was stopped and he knew that China was his last game; he knew everybody would stand up and fight from then on. Now he is repenting. Or is he? I think it is possible that countries he sacked are considering actions against him here in the U.S. courts. He is going to wave the Jewish victim flag, the honest businessman flag as if plundering the weak is honest business, and he will yell and scream that any action taken against him is a plot by the Administration to get at the Democratic Party. George Soros is an economic thug. To quote a New Yorker article<
(excerpted by Connie Bruck)....this particular philanthropist's career consists in getting rich by taking money away from others in a vast, international poker game, in which no goods or services trade hands, and in which the only goal is to pauperize all opponents....
He made his money by destroying countries, not by building anything. Many people view his so-called philanthopy this way (Bruck again)
that George Soros disburses his funds primarily to buy a controlling interest in the government of the nation that he purports to help, even while scattering beads and mirrors to the natives in the streets. Their turn to top up George Soros's coffers will not be long in arriving.
Everybody better watch it. He has a long history of contributing to governments and then controlling them. There is no reason to doubt that he is doing the same thing here. $15 billion is a small price to pay for owning the U.S. It is doubtful that this website will be left standing for long so go there.
He [Soros] is portrayed as someone ... who can be offended if a leader of a country where he is involved philanthropically is insufficiently subservient; who will consort with an autocratic regime in order to see his programs carried out; and who is intent on imposing his influence generally on an ever-expanding area of the world.
We will see how this plays out. Soros is a powerful guy. Do a Google search on him and all you see is that he's a philanthopist. Total bullshit, but check it out. Tke a trip HERE for a partial rundown of his destructiveness. Late add I've made corrections to some poor writing courtesy of several emailers and comments on Bill Quick's site.

Porn babe Mary Carey concedes CA governor's race to Arnold. She also gives you a rundown on her TV show called "Can You be a Porn Star". She is also doing a political movie:
"I am also going to start taping "Run Mary Run" which will star me and ron jeremy as (Cruz, I guess) Bustamante. It will have some footage from me on the campaign trail mixed with some hot sex scenes...."
That girl has at least half a brain inside that bat cave. She had several decent ideas, including this plank in her platform:
. I will coordinate the state’s unemployment and jury systems, so that anyone who applies for unemployment will instantly be called for jury duty. This will save California state and local governments millions of dollars, because we won’t have to pay for jury duty. It will also relieve those with jobs from the stress of serving on lengthy juries.
Not bad Mary baby. Not bad.

Nice debate in comments section over at Roger Simon's place abut the Bush speech, which I think was a great speech but is not getting traction at all from the Left or in the Media generally. I think it's a speech that will be quoted decades from now and will be recognized.

Huge crises for the elederly gripping the world and nobody running for president comments. Every day the oldest person in the world dies. A genocide that is taking place during the Bush Administration. How long will it be til we run out of the Oldest Person in the World? Go to a Left Website, maybe they know.

I'm an old fart but even I have never heard our political "debate" as low as it is now. Julian Bond calling Rice a murderer can't get worse. I am an eclectic history reader and our newspapers used to be just as rough (check out what they used to say about Lincoln); our political figures did so too but with lofty language in public. During my span of political consciousness, which goes back to Kennedy, this is the absolute worst. The Right went almost this far accusing Clinton as being an accomplice in the death of Vince Foster, but no political figure of any stature took part in this (as far as we know). Bush came into office attempting to raise the level of discourse. Obviously his opponents view his level as free license to engage in gutter attacks before approving audiences without any fear of hurting themselves politically. I hope they lose, but Iraq has got to be solved. Lots of links at Bill Quick's joint.

The stronger Democratic candidate is now Gephardt. The best thing that has happened to him is the Unions deserting him. Do not confuse this with the union members deserting him. Union leaders around the country are assholes and in many cases have wrecked the companies their members worked for. The UAW is in the process of destroying the American car companies to the degree that they are flat out not competitive with Toyota, Honda, and now even that two bit Korean company called Hyundai. We are very close to the point where American cars have less than half the American market. Thanx in large part to the UAW.

HAPPY DAZE???

As the Dow draws ever closer to 10,000 there are some very serious threats to both markets and the economy that are directly in front of us. The most serious is the imminent collapse or overthrow of the Saudi monarchy. This has only the remotest possibility of a happy ending. The terrorists can attack the refineries in the northern part of the country and end oil production for years with just one attack. We cannot develop alternative fuels fast enough. Those alternatives are at least ten years away.

The next is the obvious failure to deal with the Iraq situation, a situation that grows worse every day. There seems to be no resolve to do what has to be done, until perhaps Tuesday. The Iraqis themselves are being encouraged to just sit on their asses and watch. You can't be a nice guy and fight a war. The Iraq production of oil cannot exceed two million barrels per day til 2007 at the earliest. They don't have the infrastructure to produce more. Iraq oil cannot replace the Saudi oil.

We have a serious potential problem of foreigners owning 25% of our debt and the biggest owner of the debt is China. The Treasury only issues short term notes and this means we are refunding every month. Rates must rise. Must.

The steel tariffs are as bad as anything because Bush seems hell bent on keeping them. The EU- WTO has given us a chance to back off from a stupid and corrupt policy. All we have to do is obey the WTO. Gold going to $400 an ounce is a reflection of the outright fear internationally of what Bush is doing. Make no mistake, the tariffs were a bad idea to begin with; a bribe to a labor union that didn't work. Now those tariffs threaten free trade around the globe. This is worse than you can imagine. You could see a major sell off in the markets if this continues. There is not an economist or financial guy that I know of who supports this really stupid tariff. Watch the main indexes because if they go, your stocks will go. Worse, confidence in Bush may evaporate.

Very dangerous time right now. Saudi monarchy, Iraq turning very ugly, China owning too much of our debt, but the most threatening to our markets TODAY is the steel tariff.

THE NFL: THE MOST CORRUPTING INFLUENCE IN MEDIA?

Real censorship, and it is corporate, at ESPN. A show called "The Playmakers" has been ordered off their air, presumably because the NFL doesn't like it and has by implication threatened to cancel ESPN's Sunday night games for next season. And because ESPN is owned by ABC, the NFL can stick ABC with the worst possible games on Monday Night. Both the players union and the league wants this show off the air. Now. The NFL is forming its own TV network and will carry the games there UNLESS the series is pulled.

Now this is real censorship. Where are the whiners from the Left? Nowhere, because their private agenda is not involved. Where is the Right? Same place. This is the worst any of us can remember. Only NBC is free from the corporate arm of the NFL. Everything about the league is controlled. Everything. Money corrupts and too much money corrupts absolutely. The NFL will not be covered honestly by FOX or any of their sports channels (Sunday Games), CBS (ditto), ABC (monday Night), ESPN (Sunday Night) or their various cable news channels. The NFL is the most corrupting influence in the media, at least the most corrupting that we can see. How much does the sponsorship by ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) affect the way PBS doesn't cover farm subsidies? It's happening folks.

Response to emails regarding the ethnicity of employees where I am working. I used to work at a company where most of the employees were minority, therefore some of my comments on this site related to what those employees said and thought. I got into a beef with a manager who fucked me on my commissions( for the second time) and I was fired; actually I told the guy to go fuck himself and things went as those things go from that point. Now I work in a company on a much higher level and almost everyone is white. It's called changing jobs. As an add here, it's nice to know that the manager has since been fired for incompetence. He was replaced by the "efficiency expert" the firm hired to help them determine how to improve the company. Life in the Big City.

YOU CAN TAKE THIS TO THE BANK Bremer was called back to Washington, not over Iraq, but over the potential collapse of the Saudi government. Remember, you heard it here first. Nothing about Iraq that couldn't have been covered on a secure phone line. It's the Saudi's and their 5,000 corrupt princes. Oil could see $50. I am hedging with calls. That bombing had a purpose.

ESCAPED PRISONERS DO NOT BECOME SUICIDE BOMBERS. NEITHER DO BAATHISTS. SO WHO COULD THEY POSSIBLY BE?

Ten days into the war, I wrote that our intel had to be bad or we'd have found the WMDs already. (I've had archive problems so it is gone, but trust me I said it. I wondered about it here, I think mis-dated as March 3, should be March 23rd) And on March 29th I wrote this one about the lack of planning that was ALREADY obvious to anyone caring to look. This AM Andrea Mitchell (Mrs. Greenspan) is reporting that FINALLY everyone in the White House understands we are still in a WAR, Mission NOT Accomplished, and we have a BUNCH of serious problems. Let's see what happens. I cannot bring myself to believe that "suicide bombers" are just Baathists; they have to be Muslim terrorists dying to meet with Allah and some hot virgins. Nor are they escaped criminals looking for a score, an absurdity on its face. This intel is just worse and worse and it is OUR fault; we voted for the people who castrated our CIA. You and me.

Those of us who have read Bernard Lewis and who hasn't, as well as some of the other non-Edward Said things, know that Muslims HAVE had a sort of popular government in the past and that deliberations by leaders who listen to others is not totally foreign to Muslims. It was called "The Millet System" and it worked for a hell of a long time. What is NOT familiar or even in their consciousness is parliamentary or republican democracy. If you have read about the Caliphate circa Ottoman Empire, you know that there was plenty of room. Also we must understand that outside of Japan and India (especially India), there are no "democracies" outside of the Western European world. I just hope these suits in D.C. will accept something other than Western Style Democracy which evolved from the "Parliaments" set up by the princes and nobles to "advise" or "consult" with the King and broadened to include knights in around 1264; and they actually started voting on things. They evolved into a near democracy in Britain by 1750; in other words the process took 500 years to catch on. We have to look at the Iraqi past and what they can come up with. This situation is much worse than FOX would have us believe. AND BE SURE TO READ DAVID PRYCE JONES this AM in the Journal.

Mark this down as "don't confuse me with the evidence". Hollywood is still hunting for the great white male. Where is he? Why isn't he watching the parade of fruits on TV every night? I covered it all pretty well HERE a while back in an admittedly foul post. I work in an office that is 95% white male and NOBODY watches anything but football (the black girls are watching NBA a little). Ask yourself one single question: "Do I want to be like (fill in the character)?" A collection of fags who do everything but wear dresses. None of them could get jobs where I work, or any place I've ever worked. The exception would be some of the cop shows that are on very late at night, and since we all work New York hours out here nobody stays up to watch them except on re-runs. TV is for women who fear men and men who fear men. PERIOD. And those commercials; MEN????, give me a break. Madison Avenue fruits meet Hollywood fruits and they come up with fruits. The only "man" in commericals is the infomercial guy with the beard who sells the various hot products and he is NOT a person hired by either Hollywood or Madison Avenue.

Oh those clever Europeans: Note that the retaliatory tariffs are all aimed at products produced in states Bush MUST win in '04; Florida, Texas (citrus, not cotton yet), Kentucky, and North Carolina. One would think they were given the data by the DNC, but that's impossible. Nobody would be that low. But because the steel workers Union called Bush an unacceptable candidate, you can bet the U.S. will cancel our steel tariffs. The whole purpose was to buy votes and it didn't work.

Catching the Terrorists in Iraq in a good piece in the WSJ today. What I want to know is, WHAT IS THE PUNISHMENT? Do we call in the ACLU to prove that our troops didn't read the fucks their Miranda Rights? Are we spiriting them away to San Francisco for a "fair trial" from the Barbara Boxer-Nancy Pelosi judicial system? When Saddam caught somebody there were public beatings, killings, and rapes; he knew how to get the message out. What are we doing? But a good link none the less.

Iraq like Viet Nam continued: the Left will continue to impress the American public with news of deaths, stories about widows and orphans, and attacks on our leadership. THAT is what they did in the Viet Nam era to create "Viet Nam". They lied about our successes there and focused on every negative. Viet Nam is an idea. An "idea" of American defeat. The "idea" is that America is wrong, bad, and must be defeated and "brought down to humility". The enemy of the Left is capitalism, they want to destroy the economic system of this country. As an exercise for yourself, point to ONE successful socialist country. Single industry countries don't count; Norway, Sweden, or "no industry" Denmark. Capitalism is the only system that has lifted people from poverty to prosperity. It is the hatred and envy of successful capitalists that fuels the Left. They hate successful individuals. Hate. It follows that they hate any society that lifts individuals. Their purpose is to bring the successful individual(s) down to the lowest level so that the people "on the bottom" will feel better about their own sloth, incompetence, and hate. A capitalist Iraq is to be feared as is a capitalist Afghanistan. The way to prevent this from happening is to convince America that "this is all another Viet Nam". It can only become one if we believe the fictions being spun by the press.

All the guys who are smarter than me, which means everybody, are saying that Al Queda made "a big mistake" bombing the complex in Riyadh. These "smart guys" are always wrong. This means it was NO MISTAKE. The purpose of terrorists is to terrorize. Terrorizing an unpopular Saudi government, people who profit from that government, and people cooperating with that government was the purpose of the bombing. It was a success. The target is the Saudi family. The country is Wahabi . I would opine that toppling the Saudi family is one of the easier jobs in the world and would be more than a feather in the caps of Al Queda, it would be a full cap and uniform. Get ready for more because the oil is a major target. These "smart guys" are now pointing to the Saudi Press featuring the bodies and outrage as some kind of proof. Hello! Knock knock! It's a police state. The Saudi Family IS the press. Like believing Pravda. The "message" has been delivered, and there will be more. Being a Terrorist is like "never having to say you are sorry".

Markets and Economy
7% GROWTH IS SUSTAINABLE

All you have to do is look
to Australia where TAX REDUCTION policies of John Howard have resulted in a 7% growth rate over the past four years while unemployment is at 5.6%. The Left doesn't want to look at this, or anything else other than high taxes to fuel the Welfare State. You who are small investors want to keep your eye on both the market averages, volume there, and the techs on your own stocks. All preconceptions about growth could be going right out the window. Rates are going up. I trade and I can tell you that the Eurodollar is screaming that rates will rise, and rise soon. (Eurodollar is a short term rate of U.S. Dollars on deposit in foreign banks. The rate is the LIBOR rate, which is the London Inter Bank Offered Rate) and those rates are going up. We HAVE to match them. Not until after Christmas, I'd say middle of the first quarter of '04. England and Australia have just raised their rates and Britain usually leads the U.S. in rates. Pay no attention to the "brilliant" jerkoffs on the Saturday "Market Reports". You need only to focus. One Day At A Time. I'll talk about cars AGAIN later this week, and they are a problem down the line, still.

More on Maurice Claret you know, that Ohio State "super star" moron who was missing classes, was kicked off the football team for a while, and was the "counseled" by that lion of virtue, Jim Brown (God only knows how many arrests for beating up women).
* In 1965, an 18-year-old accused Brown of forcing her to have sex after giving her whiskey, but a jury found him innocent of assault and battery in the 10-day trial.
* In 1968, he was accused of throwing a model from a balcony, but when the 22-year-old woman refused to name Brown as her assailant, the charge of assault with intent to murder was dropped.
* In 1969, he was acquitted of assaulting a man after a traffic accident in 1969.
* In 1971, charges that he battered two women were dropped after they failed to testify at his trial.
* In 1978, he was fined and served a day in jail for beating up a golf partner.
* In 1985, Brown was charged with rape, sexual battery and assault, but the charges were dropped when the 33-year-old woman gave inconsistent testimony. The next year he was arrested for allegedly beating his fiancée after accusing her of flirting. He spent three hours in jail, but three days later the 21-year-old woman said she didn't want to prosecute.
* In 1999, Brown was convicted in Los Angeles of smashing the window of his 25-year-old wife Monique's car, but was acquitted of making terrorist threats against her. The judge sentenced him to three years' probation, stripped him of his driver's license for a year, and ordered him to attend special counseling for domestic batterers.
This is who is "counseling" Maurice. No surprise that Claret is now falling asleep in classes, not going to classes, not doing his work. Of course it's AWF (All Whitey's Fault) because Claret is being taught that he's on a plantation. And he is being taught by this icon of the Sporting Class that keeping one's "manhood" is primary. So both Claret's stupidity and "manhood" are now intact. What NFL team is going to take a chance on this latest edition? Go here for one of a hundred links.

Gephardt leading in Iowa may mean something, or it may mean that this meaningless small state that doesn't even hold a primary ELECTION is just crap. They don't caucus for another couple of months (January 19th) but Dean may finally be scaring the shit out of the rank and file Democrats. If this happens, it would mean the hard core Left would be outnumbered at the caucus level. Actual Elections count everywhere but with Democrats in this chickenshit little state composed of tax payer subsidized farmers and Agri-business on the corporate dole. All they care about is continuation of the ethanol abomination, sugar subsidies (subsidized sugar at 18 cents per pound is the only way farmers can sell corn syrup sweetner to everyone), and government labor unions. A nothing state. No, a Nothing Welfare State. For a primer on farm subsidies go here to my essay titled "Do you Really Care how Many Africans Starve?"

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BECOMES THE "MAD MAGAZINE LEFT"

Alfred E. Gore (What? Me Worry?) leads the Dems against the War on Terror It's as if 9/11 didn't happen; that the attacks on U.S. soil before 9/11 didn't happen.
...using the war against terrorism as a pretext to consolidate power.
"They have taken us much farther down the road toward an intrusive, 'big brother'-style government toward the dangers prophesied by George Orwell in his book '1984' than anyone ever thought would be possible in the United States of America"
Alfred E. Gore continued to rouse the Democrats at the "Moveon.org" sponsored event (rumors that ANSWER was a co-sponsor could not be confirmed).
He brought many the crowd of 3,000 to their feet (most in the crowd had two left feet) when he called for a repeal of the Patriot Act, which expanded government's surveillance and detention power, allowing authorities to monitor books people read and conduct secret searches. (this passage taken directly from the ABC report, leaving no doubt as to THEIR view of the Patriot Act)
Then, after the next attack, the Democrats will create a commission to study things.

The Democratic Party, the New Mad Magazine Left.

Back in the real world, the one inhabited by people not in Left Looney Bins here is what an innocent little ice cream store in Brooklyn was subjected to. Back on Jan. 18, FBI agents converged on an ice cream shop in Brooklyn. The Bush Agents arrested a Yemeni proprietor who lived three floors above. Based on a tip, they had learned a suspiciously large amount of money -- $20 million -- passed through his tiny business's bank accounts between 1997 and early 2003. That's TWENTY MILLION through a little ice cream shop in Brooklyn that grosses $180,000 per year.
But a review of court files by The Associated Press revealed that prosecutors believe Elfgeeh was an associate of Sheik Mohammed Hasa Al-Moayad, a prominent Yemeni cleric charged with funneling millions to al-Qaida in the years before the Sept. 11 attacks.
Attorney General John Ashcroft (The Fascist) touted Al-Moayad's arrest as proof "the FBI can better prevent terrorism and save American lives."
The real problem here is that this shop continued to launder drug money for two full years AFTER passage of the Patriot Act. Watch for Alred E. Gore to lead the Left in defense of ice cream stores nation wide. HERE for entire story. Laid out pretty good. We ARE in a war, folks.

TALES FROM THE NCAA MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON IN MIAMI

Here is "spin" , another word for lying. Kellin Winslow (Jr.), the pampered but talented son of former NFL great Kellen Winslow (Sr.), said this to the press after the poor baby lost a football game:
''It's war. I don't give a fucking you-know-what about him or about you. They would kill me. ... You print that. You make money off that. ...

''If I didn't hurt him, he'd hurt me. I'm going to come right back at him. I'm a fucking soldier. Now get away from me or I'll go off. They're out there to kill you, so I'm out there to kill them. We don't care about anybody but this U. They're going after my legs. I'm going to come right back at them. I'm a ... soldier.''?
So after this draft dodging piece of shit dares to compare himself with soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and tells us all he's out there to kill people, he "releases" another statement to the press. One that is obviously composed by professional writers somewhere else. We are supposed to believe that this quasi-literate thug actually said all this:
In a statement released through the university Sunday, Winslow apologized for his comments. `After speaking with the press, I immediately regretted my comments and felt embarrassed for my family, my team, the University of Miami, our fans, alumni and myself,'' Winslow said. ``What I have learned from this experience is to take my triumphs and failures in stride. My outburst should in no shape or form be a reflection on this institution or the Miami football program.
``As for my reference to being a soldier in a war, I meant no disrespect to the men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in the armed forces. I cannot begin to imagine the magnitude of war or its consequences.''
Sounds like Trent Lott, Howard Dean, and others. What was Winslow pissed about? The officiating. They picked on him, and only him. More and more these pampered assholes begin to just piss me off. Fuck Miami, the place "daddy" had his baby attend because they had the most black coaches. Why did the officials "pick" on the piece of shit? Well the punk had a costly 15-yard penalty called against him for unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth quarter. What was the "technicality"? Winslow pulled off his helmet and stuck out his tongue at the entire Tennessee bench. He had been "trash talking" (that's when blacks call each other "nigger" and stuff like that). Officials noticed it and slapped him with a 15-yard unsprtsmanlike penalty. He should have been tossed long before that for standing over and taunting a shaken Corey Campbell after a hard-hitting block in the third quarter. Another whining fucking black thug from the place all of them go, the University of Miami; just another part of the maximum security NCAA penal system.

OK, it's official, NEWSWEEK has joined the VietNamization of the Iraq war. A propaganda piece worthy of Stalin, Goebbels, Aljezeera. The media now in attack mode. Total focus on "victims" like pregnant mothers, sobbing wives, the whole nine yards. This is how the media slanted the Viet Nam war and they are at it again. Make no mistake, the Left is now on the attack through their media and they will do whatever it takes to convince America that Iraq is "another Viet Nam", a Viet Nam that they created back in the 60's too. They write novelas, short fiction pieces, sob stories for the feminine male and the male fearing females.

OK, OK, to answer the raging question of the week, one that is more important than Iraq, the economy, and even scoring on good drugs.

Q: Why are white males depicted as spineless, harmless, boobs on TV and movies?

A: Fags, feminists, and the army of weak, feeble, devitalized, burnt out, degenerate, dissolute Ivy fakes that occupy the Hollywood, Madison Avenue, Publishing Corporation chairs in this country. The list of quasi-masculine leaders, from the Corporate Criminals to the Mutual Fund scumbags, from the New York Times liars to the total weenies on the college faculties, there are no white masculine figures in power. None. Fags and feminists, together with the race husters of blacks and Hispanics, feel most comfortable with castrated white males being shown on media. They hire the casting directors who are dyke clam lappers and fag shit stabbers. That's it. The new fiction hustled by the usual suspects.

Meanwhile at real work, nothing but alpha white males making money; building the tall buildings and bridges, fighting in wars, and building the world. We're out there and we don't watch TV. Want to see what these fem bitches think? Go to workingmom and puke. (Now taken off line because she got some nasty posts, the stupid bitch) And would somebody bag these football challenged douche bags that "work the sidelines" at football games???? I hit the remote every time the stupid bitches show their vapid faces.

If Little Green Footballs, AKA LGF is not on your weekly read list, go there today and see if this is one of those blogs that actually has original stuff. One of the first blogs and still one of the best.

Does Princypoo in Jolly old Britannia wear the old pearl necklace. get punked in the mouth, bob on the knob, play hide the sauce with the help, swallow the sword, blow the whistle, cop a doodle, deep throat the guys, get his fast food at the Crotch Hotel, get his facials at the Salami Salon, go down for the cream sauce, play hide the sauce with the help, really do some lip service, puff on some tubing, smoke the sausage? Does he?

Does Princypoo do the back door boogie, is he a shit stabber, does he part his cheeks for the guys, bone the bums at the club, take a broom in his bat cave, ram the dam any time he can, chase the brown clown, play a little too much leap frong at school, do the chocolate cha cha with his butt buddies, cruise that old Hershey Highway, play drop the soap a few times a day, go up the chute with the help, get his back door greased, or worship at the brown altar?

Naw. It's just a rumor with photos. Go HERE for buggery in Windsorville. And Royal butt rape? It's HERE.

Unlimited fossel fuel source? Actually any carbon? At least Samizdata says so and these guys are usually right on. Documented too. And it's a U.S. product. In MO no less
"We've done so much testing in Philadelphia, we already know the costs," he says. "This is our first-out plant, and we estimate we'll make oil at $15 a barrel. In three to five years, we'll drop that to $10, the same as a medium-size oil exploration and production company. And it will get cheaper from there."
Could be a major hype but read the story. Sounds incredible. And the discussion at Samizdata is as stimulating as the article. Go there. Backers include heavyweight financial types like Buffett, ConAgra, the Feds, etc., no lightweights wanted.

And is Saudi Arabia running out of sand? Construction is booming due in large part to the U.S. success in Iraq and sand for cement is literally jumping off the desert.

HOW THE LEFT MEDIA VIEWS THE JOBS DATA
Frisco: After playing it pretty straight for a few paragraphs, they start whining.
too little, too late to improve prospects for job seekers, including the 2 million workers who have been unemployed for more than six months.
first recovery since the Great Depression in which jobs have failed to regain all lost ground 31 months after the beginning of a recession...
Not as good as when Clinton was President.
Then moving right along to our pink pals at the Washington Post; they play it very straight for the first few paragraphes (this is the standard reporting tactic) but then....
...even with the gains of the past three months, the number of payroll jobs is still about 2.4 million lower than it was when the slump began in March 2001 while the jobless rate, at 6 percent, is nearly 2 percentage points higher (than under Clinton).
(Quoting Pete Stark, D. CA)This level of job creation, while better than expected, is probably not strong enough to keep up with the growing labor force, let alone erase the enormous jobs deficit any time soon. . . . Unfortunately, we are still a long way from a robust jobs recovery
And on and on in paper after paper. Things are still bad, hopeless for most people, impossible for economy to grow enough to "save" everyone. The NYT actually plays the story pretty well, saving a separate two column bash for the whining Democrats who actually read as a pathetic bunch of bozos. Only the Temple of Evil in Los Angeles plays the story straight, actually adding all the other elements like productivity into their report. Prepare for a huge drop in readership there. The Left will now attack our country by claiming the recovery is too slow, Clinton did better (with higher taxes), people are still miserable and need to be "rescued" (by you know who), and the deficit.
The rest of us can just go out and make money. AND BY THE WAY Here in LA there is nothing, like zero and nada, on sale anywhere. The stores are all getting full pop. While we may piss and moan about it when shopping, this is actually great news. It means people are buying and stores don't have to cut margins. Another good sign.

NOTE ON MARKETS after all the data has been digested. It is truly amazing that our country, you know the one the Left hates, has generated 20 million new jobs in each of the last two decades.....while Europe has created ZERO. That's right, only the U.S. out of all the other Western countries has generated jobs. We are the jobs creation machine of the free world. Want to bet that 20 million more won't be created under Bush?

Note that the bozo element jumped into the NASDAQ after all the employment numbers came out, and that neither the bonds or the NYSE moved at all. Bonds and NYSE is where the sharp people trade, the people who watch their data, and they were in the markets BEFORE the data came out. They all had the info on employment because they watch the news or subscribe to services. Keep in mind that NASDAQ is dominated by dumb money, really dumb money.

Andrew Sullivan does his best to marshall the Gay Mafia against the National Review for DARING to satirize the now politically correct Gay Relative in politics. Read this and see if you think it is anti-Semitic or anti Black. This from the fruity clown who tried to equate the activities of homosexuals with Jews. Face it, Sullivan is now mostly a "Fag Rag" ; he has a fixation on his lack of heterosexuality to the exclusion of all else. Let's just give them all special parking spaces and be done with it; pink with a lollipop decal.

Muslims have tiny dicks and it's all the fault of touching Jews. So THAT'S my fucking problem. Reports from Salaam del al Kahleef (Dick like a Moth), Durha mos Rasheed al Mohar (Needle Dick the Bug Fucker), and Shirka obah Kamahl Ladin (Sodomizer of baby humming birds) detailed at the "Shrinking Dick Syndrome" site. Now if we could only figure out how the WMDs disappeared in Iraq.

Unemployment 6%
LIFT OFF

Today will mark the official beginning of the new boom; a boom that started last March. The train has left the station, the airplane has left the runway, the ship has left the dock. 125,000 new jobs. Total employment increased by 441,000 in October to 138.0 million, seasonally adjusted. 6% unemployment is factored into stock market, as I said it would be in my post below. It will take a few hours to digest all the numbers but the Left will manage to spin this as a negative somehow. The folks at the LA Times, NY Times, and the networks are dressed in black, sad as can be that our country is doing well. They will do their best to convince you that these numbers are phony. That's life in Leftyville. Last night's TV guys on Kudlow and Cramer had it early. My tip came on Wednesday afternoon as I was driving home. There was the usual ad for buying electronics and televisions from a local chain, but the ad was tagged by a request for salespeople needed at all stores. Then yesterday AM as I was driving to work I heard the same type ad from a place that sells big screen TVs in four locations also saying they need salespeople. Haven't heard stuff like that for years and years. Maybe Iraq will turn too. Let's hope so. COMPLETE REPORT:

Thursday evenening musing Look for a huge Jobs number tomorrow. Greenspan has the numbers on Wednesday and he gave a speech indicating a boom. Two econs on TV who we must presume use private data to call these things are also calling for a boom: 100,000 new jobs last month. This, the day after a truly great speech by the President, will mark a change in the political dialogue. We'll see.

Finally, and at long last, etc. etc. etc. President George W. Bush makes a truly great speech. A speech that has depth, focus, imagination, and just plain balls. Really really good. He lays it out there, points to the jerks that have ridiculed the possibilities for democracy around the world; and then points:
The great democratic movement President Reagan described was already well underway. In the early 1970s, there were about 40 democracies in the world. By the middle of that decade, Portugal and Spain and Greece held free elections. Soon there were new democracies in Latin America, and free institutions were spreading in Korea, in Taiwan, and in East Asia. This very week in 1989, there were protests in East Berlin and in Leipzig. By the end of that year, every communist dictatorship in Central America* had collapsed. Within another year, the South African government released Nelson Mandela. Four years later, he was elected president of his country -- ascending, like Walesa and Havel, from prisoner of state to head of state. As the 20th century ended, there were around 120 democracies in the world -- and I can assure you more are on the way. (Applause.) Ronald Reagan would be pleased, and he would not be surprised.
It is indeed astonishing; consider that the 1970's started with only 40 democracies. Bush lets the Euro sophisticates have it in the ass:
In June of 1982, President Ronald Reagan spoke at Westminster Palace and declared, the turning point had arrived in history. He argued that Soviet communism had failed, precisely because it did not respect its own people -- their creativity, their genius and their rights.

President Reagan said that the day of Soviet tyranny was passing, that freedom had a momentum which would not be halted. He gave this organization its mandate: to add to the momentum of freedom across the world. Your mandate was important 20 years ago; it is equally important today. (Applause.)

A number of critics were dismissive of that speech by the President. According to one editorial of the time, "It seems hard to be a sophisticated European and also an admirer of Ronald Reagan." (Laughter.) Some observers on both sides of the Atlantic pronounced the speech simplistic and naive, and even dangerous. In fact, Ronald Reagan's words were courageous and optimistic and entirely correct. (Applause.)
Read the whole thing. Guys like me have been screaming for a speech like this. I just hope it is the first of a hundred. A terrific speech and lots of you can be proud at last.
commitment to democracy is tested in countries like Cuba and Burma and North Korea and Zimbabwe -- outposts of oppression in our world. The people in these nations live in captivity, and fear and silence. Yet, these regimes cannot hold back freedom forever -- and, one day, from prison camps and prison cells, and from exile, the leaders of new democracies will arrive. (Applause.) Communism, and militarism and rule by the capricious and corrupt are the relics of a passing era. And we will stand with these oppressed peoples until the day of their freedom finally arrives. (Applause.)
I could go on, but read it. You will feel good to be an American. And glad you are not a Democrat. As a final little dig; the Arabic version is supplied:

No shit, Allah.

Now that these liars at NPR have received $200 million from the wife of the McDonald's founder Ray Kroc, maybe they won't steal our tax money any more. Don't count on it. These Left scumbags will never stop begging. and never stop stealing from us.

Markets After today's monster numbers, tomorrow will be an anti-climax. I don't look for a big number, mainly because there is a huge difference between first time claims (today's number) and Jobs, which means who is actually working and how many NEW jobs may have been created. Today's Jobless number just tells you that fewer workers have been laid off and are filing first time claims. The December Jobs (people actually working) number should be very big. If we get something like a 5.7% or lower tomorrow there will be a monster move in bonds and stocks, otherwise it will be factored in. As an add Those of us who took one or two courses in economics and left them totally confused, or those of us who never took any at all can take advantage of a great teacher. Larry Kudlow who writes for NRO can teach you something each week. He has a great way of explaining seemingly complicated data so that an economic illiterate can get it. Take a look every week. Today is a great example. And if you don't recognize that we are in a BOOM, something is wrong with you. If you ar 50 or older this is the last chance of your lifetime. If you are in your 20s you will have other chances. But this economy is taking off RIGHT NOW.

In response to several emails inquiring why I haven't linked to the Kim du Toit Pussification essay on manhood. I haven't had time to read it. First, my latte machine screwed up and just absolutely destroyed my morning. Believe it or not I missed my aerobics class. Then my girl friend needed her dog walked and her parakeet fed. Then my ex-wife demanded I pick up one of my kids from Ritalin treatment and drop him off at therapy and I just got home and found that my favorite TV show, which is Oprah, won't be on. I'll get to reading Kim's little essay tonight. If my girl friend will let me. I hear the essay is just fab. Except that he talks about guns which frighten the dickens out of me. And I hear he also talks about balls. Talk of balls always makes me tingly.

IF YOU WANT SOMETHING TO SUCCEED, JUST BAN IT

Reagan bio-pic cancelation is BAD NEWS because all censored material in this country takes on a life of its own. Anything that is censored or taken away from us by THEM becomes desirable and coveted. It makes no difference who THEM are; the Church, the Left, the Right, the cops. Any time a book or movie is banned it becomes wildly popular. This will be THE biggest selling video of all time and the biggest rental. Forcing cancellation of this show was stupid. Really stupid. All involved will now become the "Horst Wessels" of the modern American Left. The producers will be heroes and the actors will win awards. Censorship in this country is stupid. Thank God. Nice job everybody.

Keep in mind that the examples of Left censorship in my post below have all resulted in success for the banned material. Right to Life is now a majority in spite of, or because of, a complete blackout of their POV. The media hostility toward Republicans has resulted in a Republican majority. You can say with confidence that if you want something to succeed in this country just ban it.

TRAITORS: (Check the debate over at Quicks digs) is there any other way to look at the leaked Democratic memo from the "Intelligence Committee"? These are people who can't be trusted with our security. They will be happy every time a soldier is killed. This isn't just sad. It is horrible. Read the entire memo and see for yourself if any other conclusion is possible.
We have carefully reviewed our options under the rules and believe we have identified the best approach. Our plan is as follows:

1) Pull the majority along as far as we can on issues that may lead to major new disclosures regarding improper or questionable conduct by administration officials. We are having some success in that regard.

For example, in addition to the President's State of the Union speech, the chairman [Sen. Pat Roberts] has agreed to look at the activities of the office of the Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, as well as Secretary Bolton's office at the State Department.

The fact that the chairman supports our investigations into these offices and cosigns our requests for information is helpful and potentially crucial. We don't know what we will find but our prospects for getting the access we seek is far greater when we have the backing of the majority. [We can verbally mention some of the intriguing leads we are pursuing.]

2) Assiduously prepare Democratic 'additional views' to attach to any interim or final reports the committee may release. Committee rules provide this opportunity and we intend to take full advantage of it.

In that regard we may have already compiled all the public statements on Iraq made by senior administration officials. We will identify the most exaggerated claims. We will contrast them with the intelligence estimates that have since been declassified. Our additional views will also, among other things, castigate the majority for seeking to limit the scope of the inquiry.

The Democrats will then be in a strong position to reopen the question of establishing an Independent Commission [i.e., the Corzine Amendment.]

3) Prepare to launch an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority. We can pull the trigger on an independent investigation of the administration's use of intelligence at any time. But we can only do so once.

The best time to do so will probably be next year, either:

A) After we have already released our additional views on an interim report, thereby providing as many as three opportunities to make our case to the public. Additional views on the interim report (1). The announcement of our independent investigation (2). And (3) additional views on the final investigation. Or:

B) Once we identify solid leads the majority does not want to pursue, we would attract more coverage and have greater credibility in that context than one in which we simply launch an independent investigation based on principled but vague notions regarding the use of intelligence.

In the meantime, even without a specifically authorized independent investigation, we continue to act independently when we encounter footdragging on the part of the majority. For example, the FBI Niger investigation was done solely at the request of the vice chairman. We have independently submitted written requests to the DOD and we are preparing further independent requests for information.

SUMMARY: Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's concern regarding the insurgency in Iraq. Yet we have an important role to play in revealing the misleading, if not flagrantly dishonest, methods and motives of senior administration officials who made the case for unilateral preemptive war.

The approach outlined above seems to offer the best prospect for exposing the administration's dubious motives.

Barbra Streisand is pissed because the Reagan hit piece was cancelled. Where the fuck was she when Dr. Laura got chased? When they all tried to get Rush a few years ago?

Let's be real here: getting CBS to cancel the Reagan Docudrama is censorship. However, the three (now four or five) networks have always been "censored" because they do not exist in a free market. A truly free market in TV would mean every station in America would be able to bid money for the rights to carry a program and the producers could sell their wares to the highest bidder. A "chain of stations" would be forced to bid against another "chain". Programs that didn't deliver would be canceled immediately. "Free" television has always existed in a censored environment. Always. Why else have none of them shown a three month old aborted fetus for the last 20 years?

Money is the only assurance of a free market, of ideas, and of "art". The consumer pays for what he or she wants to see. In every area of subsidized "art" you have a perversion, a censorship, an exclusion of that which the elites don't like. Norman Rockwell is a bum, to everyone but the people. Rap music is shit, to everyone but the audience. Rock and roll etc., etc., etc. Mount Rushmore would be destroyed by our elites.

A nearly free market exists in movies where, in spite of the power of studios and theater chains, a flop is a flop and is jerked from the theaters after the first weekend. Movies nobody believes in become hits by making it in small theaters and going "main stream". The market rules most of the time. Even when a picture doesn't do well in theatres it may be a monster hit when it goes to video. So the market does eventually select the winners in the movie business.

We now know that for decades the big book publishers refused to publish right wing books. We know even now that many bookstores "hide" Conservative books because they don't want them to sell. Brentanno's in Beverly Hills is one I am very familiar with and Conservative books are not displayed anywhere in the front of the store. Amazon has filled the niche and so a free market now exists in books IF you go to Amazon and only if you go to Amazon.

You cannot find many Conservative books in public libraries. I was looking for Cigar Aficionado in the Beverly Hills library and was told, "we don't stock publications that advocate smoking". So nothing to do with tobacco farming or genetically engineered foods are carried either. I couldn't find "Clash of Civilizations" in any bookstore or Library in the LA area. The very Left public libraries engage in Politically Correct censorship a-la Ms. Streisand all around the country.

Now the Left, the same bunch that bans books and magazines they don't like from the Public Libraries, the same bunch that makes sure no fetus is shown on TV, the same crowd that wants God taken out of all our public buildings, the homosexual Left that chased Dr. Laura off the air, those lying scumbags will tell you there is no Left Agenda or Leftist censorship. But if anyone dares to stand up to the Libel and slander of a former Republican President who is dying and can't defend himself, oh my God (God in the Left Wing religion is a Welfare Check) it's the return of Hitler .

I personally wish CBS had shown it their Reagan hit piece. It would have revealed for all to see just how low this segment of our "arts" propaganda machine, which is composed of homosexual activists, Marxists, socialists, and environmentalists will go. Did I say homosexual activists? You bet I did. The focus on a remark about AIDS that he never made is proof. The same can be said about the focus on other "homophobic" things he never said or did. The disproportionate influence of homosexuals in Hollywood is huge.

I wish it had been shown uncut. Not so we could see Reagan as he really was, but so we could observe how the Left really is.

In defense of Streisand artistically: she is like Walt Disney in that neither of them ever did anything that might cause anguish or hurt with their "art". Streisand has done nothing you couldn't take a six year old to see nor has she done a recording not fit for an infant. Nobody went after her because the "suits" trusted her. She was so good she could stay "clean" and still make money. Why she stopped singing and started to politicize is a mystery, but her stand on censorship wouldn't hold water had she decided to do a "hit piece" on Mother Theresa. She comes from a different place artistically than 99% of the "talent" in Hollywood. Too bad she quit.

I have posted a cautionary late add to this post which stated the huge layoff numbers yesterday.

Iraq, and a disquieting series of observations by Michael Ledeen at NRO. The tough part about this intellectually honest observer is that the CIA hasn't changed at all, the "suits" in D.C. don't want to hear "bad news", meaning anything that alters their perceptions, and that they refuse to recognize reality. Go there. The guy is on the Right so when he goes off you know it's probably true.

CLUELESS ELITE UPDATE Dean gets it when he remarks about getting the vote of the guy who has a Confederate Flag decal on his truck window. The dopes who attack him for the remark are the losers here. Everybody else in the country knows exactly what he meant; the guys who are concerned with the country, their private lives and beliefs, and who need a strong economy and government in order to make it from day to day. These are the guys who buy the beer, go to NASCAR, fish for bass, go deer hunting, usually work with their hands, and actually sweat while working. He gets it. Nobody in the media, including the clowns at FOX, gets it. Hello??? Anybody home?? People who sweat while they work are the majority of voters. Dean is the only one of those candidates who has a chance to carry more than the elite blue states. Trust me, the Confederate Flag remark makes him a real force and Dean knows it. Only blacks will vote for that clown Sharpton who belongs on Saturday Night Live and couldn't be elected in the Third World; almost nobody is going to vote for either Kerry or Kucinich; and only Gephardt (who wasn't there yesterday) and perhaps Lieberman has a real shot now. Mosley Braun??? Edwards??? Come on. Dean gets stronger and he is no dummy.

Here's a POV on the Reagan movie "leak" from a pal of mine who is a union red hot, on many committees of the Craft Unions here in town, and who knows the ins and outs. Nice guy but totally union nuts. I asked him about the leak. When reading this keep in mind that run away production, the shooting of movies in Canada with American Actors earning big wages and freezing local union labor out of jobs, is a huge issue. It must be said that the bitterness of the Craft Unions has now crossed over into outright hate directed toward the insanely high paid "creative community". So, leaving out all the fucks, mothers, corporation assholes etc. adjectives, here's his version of the leak.
1. The producers are playing Bush and the White House trying to find the leaker. They have even hired a private dick.
2. The picture was shot in Canada with Canadian crews (that's why no Hollywood leaks) and it is POSSIBLE that an American Craft Union person got a hold of the script from a copy machine or something and made copies that were leaked to the NYT and Drudge.
3. The producers are suspecting anybody American. Meaning they are looking for a neo-con actor, or craft union sympathizer among the thespian set. When they find the he or she that person "will never work in this town again", or so they say.
4. All the Craft Union guys are happy as clams that this happened.
I've inferred from what he said that it was a Craft Union person who "found" a script, but he would take Craft Union credit for it no matter what. But I will tell you this, the Craft Unions are really really pissed at the Directors and Actors over runaway production and fifty years of Screen Actors Guild strike breaking so more of this may happen. They may even sabotage some shoots. This is about to get ugly. Arnold taking a pay cut to keep production of "Terminator Two" in Los Angeles is causing even more anger at those who "run away". This still doesn't explain how a couple of bozos can walk into CBS and orally "pitch" a story, be given $10 million and told to go and shoot it. EVERYBODY, including everybody you ever heard of, has to present a "treatment" on paper for approval and then follow it up with a shooting script that is always looked at by somebody. You have to PROVE that the picture can be shot for the money:

SUIT
How are you going to shoot this "army" scene? 70,000 people. Looks expensive.

HOT PRODUCER
We're gunna get a bunch of Mexican illegals, tell 'em if they run around for us they'll get to be citizens. All it will cost us is water and some warm beer.
SUIT
How you going to shoot this scene where the submarine implodes and everybody dies inside? This has got to cost at least a mil, maybe a mil and a half>
HOT PRODUCER
(leering in a conspiratorial tone)Listen. I got this drug addict over at Universal who's gunna let us in at night to shoot everything there. We'll shoot it and then bill it to "Cat in the Hat". Nobody will know. It'll cost us a few loser actors, some water, and some fuckin' film I am stealing from Paramount.
SUIT
(Eyes shifting carefully)You have a big futre here my boy.
Another way of saying that every scene and every shot is analyzed for cost and content. This whole thing is so fishy I can't tell you. There is nobody I know in this business, and I know tons of people, who believes that this movie was shot with no one at CBS knowing about it. Don't expect any reporters for the LA Times to sniff this out, but somebody somewhere will. Eventually.

Tired of GOOD economic news? Try this: Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported job cut plans rose to 171,874 in October vs. 76,506 the previous month. This is the highest pace of announcements since October ’02 when 176,010 job cuts were announced. Challenger says that “With factors like technology, outsourcing and consolidation working against job creation, any job market rebound we see in the near future will be relatively small.” Layoff announcements were widespread. Six sectors had layoffs exceeding 10,000 , indicating broad based lay off plans. Not news that is needed for a sustainable recovery.
Late Add Keep in mind that this data is fed to an employment agency and the people giving data want to hire people at the lowest possible wage. It follows that an employment agency will be deliberately fed data that will show the fewest possible openings. This agency is not famous for delivering data that turns out to be accurate. The reason people picked it up is that a CBS Market Watch writer picked it up.

Lots of "old Democrats" think Dick Gephardt is the real deal because he has made very forceful statements on Iraq. But all you have to do is read his latest rant on the economy to know that the "old Democrats" are dead. Anybody who compares this economy today that has 6% unemployment to the 25% unemployment rate during Great Depression is not in touch with reality; BTW the 25% doesn't cover the fact that there were very few women in the work force at that time, and no hope for work. When a man lost his job there was no family income. And talk about Deflation? Prices fell 42% between 1928 and 1933, nobody could make money and business start ups were almost zero. Most of us who went to college between 1950 and 1996 were taught that 6% unemployment was zero. Anything lower than that would blow the lid off of inflation; it is only after the Clinton "bubble" or boom that we see that we can get real close to 3% without causing inflation. Gephardt is not the ideal candidate, he is just a union guy mouthing the union line.

WHERE HAS OUR PRESS BEEN FOR TWENTY YEARS?

PBS ACTUALLY DOES A FIRST RATE JOB on the Mutual Fund scandal, spelling out each nuance. Leaving out their usual propaganda, it is a first rate job and I learned a thing or two I didn't know. Things like "stale pricing" will really piss you off; phony interest bearing loans might get to you too. A few things involved in "Late Trading" are so obviously criminal in nature that I was surprised; in my world a "late trade" might mean a few minutes but these guys were trading as much as five hours late.
Funds promise investors that they don't allow short-term traders to buy and sell shares. It's going to hurt you. It's going to hurt our returns and raise our costs. We are going to stop them at the door and tell them to go home. Well, in fact, these funds not only did not stop them at the door, they invited them in with open arms.
Very good. Go there now if you are interested because PBS has a habit of pulling their stories down pretty fast. The good thing here is that this stuff is easy to stop and you can bet it will be stopped, but the "hidden" costs which all of us who have been in the financial business have known for years, is something else. My real question here is, where has our media been for twenty years? Everybody in the financial field has known about these hidden costs, knew there were SOME crooks in the business, and that many funds are very bad. They have been doing the usual Liberal Waltz against business, free markets, and the rich while ignoring hard to report stories. And make no mistake, this story would have been hard to find but anybody digging would have found it. This is a result of news reporting by jerkoffs who work the phones instead of working the street. Can;t have college grads doing legwork, can we now.

MARKETS: OK, the really bad news first: the Mutual Fund Scandal is much worse than I thought. twenty five percent of brokers engaged in illegal trades; Up to 10% of funds allowed late trades; and preferential treatment at half of the funds. This is going to get worse before it gets better, and as I posted last week, this could damage markets more than anything Hillary and the Democrats could ever do. CBS Market Watch has a good overview.
GREAT News is that 47,000 new factory jobs were created, with the ISM Index rising to the highest point since 2000; the new orders index rose to 64.3 percent in October from 60.4 percent in September, the highest level since June 1994; spending on construction projects rose 1.3 percent in September after a 0.7 percent rise in August. This is great news, again. JOBS will be out Friday.

The ABC News/Washington Post "poll" numbers are out and they bury conclusions of the poll deep inside their web page. Number one is that this poll was insanely long. How many people would put up with it ? My bet is very few. Second, the poll is a land line poll so cells aren't contacted. It is so complex that I don't know that any real conclusions can be drawn from it.
If it is true, as the numbers suggest that young people are turning Republican, this means that they are junking all the Left Wing propaganda they are being taught in school, something I predicted would happen but I thought they'd have to turn thirty before it took place. Predictable left slant to the results, not mentioning anything good for Republicans.

Quote of the day:
"The only people who would be hurt by abandoning the Kyoto Protocol would be several thousand people who make a living attending conferences on global warming."

IRAQ TODAY IS THE SOVIETS AND AFGHANISTAN, NOT VIET NAM The Russians won each and every battle there and lost the war. No plan, no intelligence, no clue.

Talk about being wrong, I really was on thinking that the CBS Reagan movie was all a publicity stunt. I said that nobody would be that stupid. Well it looks like they are and were. The "spin" on this was that the original producers "pitched" (meaning an oral presentation) a love story. What they delivered is a "hit piece". Well if this is true there will be a law suit. Nobody just "pitches". A "pitch" is always followed up by a "treatment", or a multi-page outline of the story. This still smells, but the story being told is that the producers are Left Wing maniacs and CBS is shocked. I know many people who work as editors and line producers, some at CBS, and they are really in the dark too. Everybody is saying the same thing: "I don't know. I never heard about it." Meaning this "hit piece" was done in secret, impossible in Hollywood. This is a very curious situation. Keep in mind that the craft unions are no pals of the SAG/Directors Guild/Writers Guild who they regard as trendy Lefty strike breakers, and guys on the set would have shot their mouths off long before the movie was "wrapped". Barbra now claiming she never read the script is a lie on its face. Having been married while an actor, my wife always read every script and every wife and husband always reads the script. People would be just as pissed if the same thing had been done to Jimmy Carter and his wife. If true, and I still think something is fishy about this, Hollywood has really gone ethically south.

Thinning the Forest Bill clears the Senate but don't count on anything. Get ready for the lawsuits to stop any cutting. The real agenda is to stop American workers from earning good wages earned by cutting down trees for lumber companies. The enviornmental lobbies don't care a dam about forests. They are Marxist Agenda groups interested in destroying the logging business.

More talking heads on Sunday and I am fed up with hearing Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice, Wolfowitz et al. I want to hear the President. The President, whoever he is. This is total bullshit. We have NO PRESIDENT. He is absent. I'm fed up. And I am on the RIGHT. This lineup of aparatchiks that none of us voted for together with a line up of writer-philosophers who claim to "speak for him" are not the President. He is the only one who can articulate policy. I don't think he has a clue. I'm very depressed at the endless deaths of our troops who just respond and react. Remember the Soviets in Afghanistan. They won every battle and lost the war.

"Open your eyes ref, you're missing a good game." That applies to the worst officiating of a game I have ever seen. I am referring to the USC vs Washington State football game this Satuday past. Just horrible. Washington State was not good enough to win but the refs GAVE USC two scoring gifts they had no right to receive. The PAC Ten ought to bury the whole crew. They changed the game with their bad calls, and I am a USC fan. Ruined a good game for everybody.

Server problems kept me off line

Markets and Economy
9800 AND THE MARKET TIMING "SCANDAL"

The Market Timing "Scandal" explained.
There is nothing wrong with market timing. It is a time honored method of trading. Many funds allow their customers to trade in and out of various funds they own. You can "switch" from high growth to a money market fund. You can see a market going higher in Europe and switch to a stock fund here. All legal as hell. Many of you do it all the time and you ain't going to jail. Many funds prohibit this kind of trading because it can distort their funds big time. $100 billion moving in and out will really disrupt markets. So most now ban the practice for the good of fund owners.

What this "scandal" is about is that fund managers traded "in and out" for their own personal fund accounts with fund money for themselves only and not for the fund members. In other words the "timing" profits should have been shared with fund holders. Period. They also gave preferential "trading rights" to a few favored friends in the funds. That's it. Read the Alan Reynolds piece below. Should you sell your mutual fund? NO NONO.
The notion that mutual fund investors are routinely losing huge sums to prescient day traders is a dubious theory backed by questionable estimates. If there really are such losses, they pale in comparison to the losses investors will suffer in the future if the result of all this poking and probing is that many people become scared away from the largest, most successful mutual funds. The fact is that our nation's most popular mutual funds have performed remarkably well over the past five years despite unusually challenging times. Whenever forced to choose between economists' estimates and stock market facts, stick with the facts.
Like the numbers as I keep preaching. And don't think guys ain't wrong a lot when they do this stuff. It is risky business.
The Market at 9800: Technically, meaning charts, it looks like it is consolidating around here. But information moves markets and the information everyone is waiting for is JOBS. The actual GDP number excluding inventories is a monster 9.2% and this won't continue. The numbers next December will be huge, and the weekly numbers will become significant. A big shift can give the market a boost or a wound. Remember that the White House has all the weekly numbers a full 24 hours before release and lots of private forecasters deliver good numbers to their clients. Watch your own numbers carefully. Don't listen to the Left who manage to find disaster in every nugget of gold or the Right who see diamonds in every lump of coal. Watch the numbers and save your politics til after the close each day. JOBS is everything. Iraq is BAD. GDP is GOOD. Period.
