Markets as an indicator: Usually the most reliable of all indicators, and right now it seems to be telling us that there is no recession in our immediate future. Everything bad is already in the market, things can only get better on the fuel front (every day another refinery will come back on line), and I have to assume that the sky high natural gas and heating oil prices are also in the market. I don't know what the smart money knows that I don't know, but we have a clear signal of no recession. Gold is telling us that inflation is a major worry, and the commodity price index is on the moon. Just watch the market and pay no attention whatsoever to the news.

JOHN McCAIN IS HIS BIO

McCain's "killer ap" in the language of Apple's Steve Jobs, is his bio. That is who he is. No matter what, that killer bio must be punctured or else.

In the spy biz there is a mantra that goes something like this; “Never trust anyone who has been through torture and come through on the other side without spilling his guts.” The reason for this “rule” is that once a man goes through the unspeakable horrors of endless torture and doesn’t break there is nothing left for him to fear. He is not controllable. He will do whatever he wants to do. He fears nothing.

John McCain spent five and one half years in a Viet Cong prison where two to four guards beat him every day for a year; on some days ten of them beat him. He spent two years in solitary confinement; due to his plane crash he had his leg broken so badly that his lower leg was at ninety degrees from his knee and his arm was broken. When he was rescued and placed on display in the middle of the street a VC soldier stuck a bayonet through his foot and slammed in the shoulder with a rifle butt. He went years without treatment for any of his injuries.

LIBERAL REPORTER: Senator, how is it that you come out against tobacco but not alcohol?

McCAIN: (Laughing) Boy you sure know how to ask the tough questions. Show me where whiskey engages in false advertising and I’ll get some of my friends to tell their children to stop drinking.

That’s a tough question for a guy like McCain, ain’t it? When his captors discovered he was the son and grandson of admirals, he was offered a chance to go home, but he refused to break the military code that POWs are released in the order that they are captured.

TOUGH LIBERAL REPORTER: Where do you draw the line between illegality like robbing a bank and immorality like the war in Iraq?

McCAIN: I infer from your question that robbing a bank is not immoral, so the question confuses me.

Can you believe that some Liberal draft dodging wimp can ask a question to a guy who has been tortured and didn’t break and expect to trap him? After McCain had been tortured for a year the abuse continued. Still they refused to give him medical attention.
“I didn't believe this. I thought that if I just held out, that they'd take me to the hospital. I was fed small amounts of food by the guard and also allowed to drink some water. I was able to hold the water down, but I kept vomiting the food. They never did anything for my broken left arm. It healed by itself. They said I needed two operations on my leg, but because I had a "bad attitude" they wouldn't give me another one."
TOUGH FEMINIST REPORTER: Does it bother you at all that women in the armed forces might be captured and raped?

McCAIN: Being captured and not raped ain’t so hot either....

Of course the feminist reporter laughs because she has nowhere to go to get an answer. McCain knows the game. When he got a question in the Hanoi Hilton and responded in a way the VC didn’t like it was different:
“When I said something to them they didn’t like the guards who were all in the room, about 10 of them, really laid into me. They bounced me from pillar to post, kicking and laughing and scratching. After a few hours of that, ropes were put on me and I sat that night bound with ropes. Then I was taken to a small room. For punishment they would almost always take you to another room where you didn't have a mosquito net or a bed or any clothes. For the next four days, I was beaten every two to three hours by different guards. My left arm was broken again and my ribs were cracked."
TOUGH HARD LEFT REPORTER: When Hillary Clinton won in New York against Rick Lazio, what was your reaction?

MCCAIN: She won because she ran against Lazio. If she had run unopposed I think she would have lost.

Finally he was about to break; about to do what they wanted him to do. McCain:
“Then the "gooks" made a very serious mistake, because they let me go back and rest for a couple of weeks. They usually didn't do that with guys when they had them really busted. I think it concerned them that my arm was broken, and they had messed up my leg. I had been reduced to an animal during this period of beating and torture. My arm was so painful I couldn't get up off the floor. With the dysentery, it was a very unpleasant time.”
TOUGH NETWORK TV REPORTER: McCain Feingold has turned out to be a joke. How are you going to fix it?

MCCAIN: A joke in like ha ha ha, or ho ho ho? Or a joke like “Say what you will, Michael Eisner made the monorail run on time."
"Thank God they let me rest for a couple of weeks. Then they called me up again and wanted something else. I don't remember what it was now-it was some kind of statement. This time I was able to resist. I was able to carry on. They couldn't "bust" me again. In other words, if you are going to make it, you get tougher as time goes by. Part of it is just a transition from our way of life to that way of life. But you get to hate them so bad that it gives you strength.”
And so it is with John McCain. It is a laugh when a bunch of liberal wimp reporters “grill” him about something. He laughs, not because he is a good humored happy guy, but because he was tortured for five years by the VC and comparing them with being roasted by these reporters is really a joke to him. We will never know the inside of this man, we will only know what he chooses to reveal. He has come out on the other side of torture and he is his bio. He is fearless. What’s to be afraid of? Losing a fucking election?

So in the language of the spy business being fearless as a result of coming out on the other side of torture can be a problem. The man could be truly fearless and actually afraid of nothing. If so, he is a man that can’t be trusted. He has no constraints upon his urges, thoughts, and desires. No need for party loyalty. As it becomes obvious that the Republican Party has no leadership at all, no candidates capable of marshalling the troops, McCain is the default candidate.

So get ready for a guy who can't be trusted, not because he is dishonest but because he has no code other than his own private one.

Note: Both questions and McCain responses have been made up

Puke if you're a Republican as they team with all the Dems and attempt one more hijacking of the budget....BUT, just as 10,000 Swedes were chased through the weeds by one lone Norwegian, a single first term Republican put his foot down. Oh, are they pissed...Details at Brothers Judd. Also at Town Hall, in a piece by Novak.
The bill's Democratic sponsors railed in outrage against Ensign, a 47-year-old first-termer from Las Vegas, Nev.,
Ya gotta read it. McCain involved too.

Hey! There's a serious film fest that doesn't require a commie message in a movie in order for it to be shown. This year it will be quite large and if you're in LA give it a shot. At Libertas, HERE. Their terrific home page is HERE Here's hoping that there is NO conservative litmus test as a price of admission and that only movies deemed good will be shown, but alas if you read what is showing at the festival, you'll see that there is a litmus test. Since these are movies that are largely frozen out of Main Stream Distribution I'll give them a pass for now. I hope this is one small step for a really inclusive film festival.

Judith Miller??? I told you all about it on July 9, almost two months ago. A total phony.

GRATUITOUS JESSICA FLASH

Jessica Simpson (above being felt up by a stranger) was spotted at La Poubelle, a French eatery in Hollywood, drinking late into the night with hard-partying pals Johnny Knoxville and Orlando Bloom. Word is that she got smashed and had to be helped out. Where was I?

Paranoid Black so-called leaders now fear that the disbursement of the poor Blacks of New Orleans into areas where their lives can be better, their wages higher, the education of their children better is a threat to their racist power. Louisiana, a red/blue state will now be a red state. The next governor will be GOP, as will the next mayor of New Orleans. The Black Leadership needs Blacks to be in chains in order to maintain power. And there are no chains as strong as the poorly paid slaves to the "tourist industry," which needs maids, bus boys, bell hops, janitors, and other really good jobs; and who best to fill them? Why uneducated Blacks naturally. Why the hell should they want to come back to that? To vote for the Black leadership that has put them there? Well, the tourist industry ain't coming back real soon, so the Black Leadership wants Blacks to return so they can go on Welfare and continue to vote for them.

MY HOSTILITY TOWARD THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS ALMOST OUT OF CONTROL

The Hellerstein decision which orders the DoD to release all Abu Grahib photographs and videos is literally a death sentence for many of our troops. We all know the pix are bad. We have seen plenty. To release additional videos and pictures now will be worse than the Newsweek "boo boo" which killed 27 people almost immediately. At least 100 people will die, and most of them will be U.S. troops. We all know that "Civil Rights" now stands for anti-America, anti Military, and pro murder of our guys in uniform.

This entire Administration is contemptible. Not one word in protest of this virtual murder of our troops. Not a single Republican leader (ho ho that's rich) speaks out; not Bush not Cheney not McCain, nobody in the White House, nobody in the House or Senate.....NOBODY. This is an administration sell out of our troops, the same troops these assholes sent over there. Bush is the worst president since Nixon, and there is no contest. Will they appeal? Yeah, but no rush.

Now for something completely different.....Sit down, snort this: N'Awlins police who confiscated weapons from anyone in N'Alins they could grab has been ordered by a court to give them back. At Right Wing Nation.... Second Amendment? Just upheld. Again.

Putsch attempt fails, Schroeder will use the 3 October German Unity Day public holiday as a dignified backdrop to stand down. Really big news, ain't it?

9/29/2005

For a graphic on how the people living on the East Coast will be destroyed this winter unless something happens, take a look at this chart. Normal prices used to be well under a dollar.... This is a time bomb with at best, 45 days til it goes off.

We are having some pretty big brush fires---30,000 acres and counting --- in various places around LA right now, temps in 90s humidity 13 and under. But you ought to hear the "victims" pissing and moaning about the government not saving them. The Fire Department is discriminating against them, rich people had their homes saved but theirs were left to burn, nobody cares, etc. etc. etc. And the news media is not fishing for blame the government complaints, these people just expect the government to save them. Keep in mind that these homes were built in areas that are insurance rated (ISO) 100% sure to burn, these people built there anyway and we the taxpayers pay for their insurance. Oh, and did I mention that these assholes have not left a RAGING FIRE in spite of mandatory evacuation orders? Once again YOU the tax paying suckers are going to pick up the tab for a bunch of self indulgent Lefty Socialists.

A 21st Century putsch is taking place in Germany as our pal Gerhard refuses to give up power even though he LOST an election. Hitler used guns and kidnapping when he tried to seize power in 1923, Schroeder is going to use the splinter extreme Left to grab power now. Why should I care? For the life of me I can't tell you.

Debbie Schussel rips the TV feminist soaper, Commander in Chief, as only she can. Read it and see if you don't largely agree. This is a flat out propaganda piece put out by Jew baiters, endorsers of War as long as one lone woman is threatened in a country,
Davis' emasculated husband on the show is relegated to First Girlie Man--reminiscent of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's wimpy husband, Dan Granholm Mulhern, who--yes--took his wife's last name. Sad. Very sad.
Fun read. Accurate take too.

Ann Coulter unleashes her bile..........on Republicans and George Bush. As his supporters drop off one by one over Bush's obvious ineptness on almost every level. She tries to blame Karl Rove. A man with a real ability to grow and stand for something wouldn't need a Karl Rove. Bush is turning into the raving mediocrity many of us feared he actually was when we shut our eyes, held our noses, and voted for him.

Tom DeLay, Cutting to the Chase: When everything is peeled from the onion, when every blogger, right wing pro, and propagandist gets through trying to make this guy look clean, the bottom line is that he is a slime ball; a guy who will cut corners to do whatever it is he wants to do. Too many Republicans are with him in this ethical sinking ship of sharp deals, deceptive practices, and just plain dirty dealing. The Republicans have been in power too long, and if you think the Congress is Republican you must start taking your meds again..... They are big spending lying liberals cloaked in the flag pretending to stand for something other than retaining power by stealing whatever money they can.

Right Wing News has an even worse opinion of DeLay than I do. I think it's about time Conservatives stood up for what is right and not about winning....

The bad guys...NO THE REALLY REALLY BAD GUYS are about to take over the Internet. The UN, which is controlled by terrorists and fascists is trying to take over the Internet and there is only one purpose: end freedom of speech forever. What can we do? First you can read this piece in NR and then get into action because these bad guys ARE going to take it over if possible......CBS has it here; ABC has this to say:
Facing heated protest, the United Nations on Wednesday defended Tunisia's hosting of a U.N. summit about Internet access in the developing world, even though the north African nation has been repeatedly accused of rights abuses that include blocking Web sites it dislikes.

Also: Tunisia Monitoring Group had tried to raise its concerns in a meeting Monday on the sidelines of a Geneva preparatory conference. But as panelists spoke, representatives of Tunisian non-governmental groups at the event stood up and shouted them down.
Make no mistake, this is a really big deal

The really really Good Guys won one; Ground Zero will not be an anti American Hate Fest..... And the petition that a hell of a lot of us signed was a major factor; the gutless GOP governor only pulled the plug AFTER Hillary Clinton gave him permission.

9/28/2005

Did you expect Commander in Chief to be anything other than feminist liberal drivel? Libertas lays it out there perfectly.....

FREE ENTERPRISE IS FOR SUCKERS

Here is the solution to the gasoline price gouging situation. First let’s find out why gasoline prices are high and what can be done about it.

We cannot do anything about the price of crude oil itself. That price is being dictated by supply and demand forces. Nor can we do anything about the freight costs of getting crude from field to refinery. But we sure can do something about the refined products that come out of the refineries, which is exactly where the problem lies.

Crude oil as pumped from the ground eventually arrives at an oil refinery where is is chemically changed to crude products like gasoline of 15 or 20 boutique grades, heating oil for homes (mostly on the East Coast), jet fuel, and less used products like kerosine etc.

Cutting to the chase, the top five oil companies own around 58% of the refineries in the U.S. (Up from 35% ten years ago); the next tier of five companies own around 27% of the capacity; so today the Big Ten own nearly 86% of the 144 total refineries.

The refinery business was unprofitable ten years ago because there was not enough demand and too much competition. That is when the Big Ten launched their campaign to drive the independent refiners out of business. They did this with what is called “predatory pricing,” which means that they sell their refined products at such a low price—below cost if necessary---that customers who want to remain competitive won’t buy from the smaller companies that must charge a higher price in order to stay in business; they became environmentalists by urging the government to enforce pollution laws they knew the smaller refineries couldn't afford; and they just absorbed the "botique" requirements for esoteric additives for certain areas, something else the smaller refineries could not afford to do. The purpose of the Big Ten was to cartelize the oil refinery business, crush the independents, and freeze out any new business trying to compete. The refinery business offers the ideal arena for monopoly practices because it takes a huge amount of capital in order to enter—$4 billion and four years for a refinery—and who will enter a business controlled by a few companies who have as a stated purpose the elimination of all competition?

So today they are a “success.” Ownership of refineries is concentrated among an ever shrinking number of huge multi-nationals. Profit margins that were as low as a few cents per barrel fifteen years ago are now approaching 88 cents per gallon of product today in the relatively few refineries remaining. It is the obscene profits of the cartel refining business that has driven up the cost of fuel. Fifty cents per gallon of gas could be cut from refining margins and the oil companies would still be making a killing.

So what to do? Claim that this is capitalism at work and let markets decide winners? How does this work with oil companies that have a mantra that goes, “Free enterprise for you and monopoly capitalism for us?” Markets always “work,” but by working it doesn’t necessarily mean that only prices and profits are what we see there. We can also see abuses of the system. We can see monopoly capitalism taking over. We can “see” illegal trading by looking at charts and volumes in markets. We can recognize insider trading by corporations. We can see obscene profits too.

Cartel situations have appeared before, the most recent was in the 1940s when it became plain that the movie studios owned everything from production to the exhibition business, a system that froze out all competition in each segment of the business. The government looked at the situation and got what has come to be known as a “consent decree” in which the studios were forced to let loose of theatres and distribution. The consent decree just said that the studios could produce, or exhibit, or distribute movies, but they could only do one of the three. Bingo, suddenly there was independent production, independent theatre ownership, and new distributors were born overnight. Competition reared its ugly head and things were never the same.

We need a “consent decree” for the oil refinery cartel. We need a consent decree that prevents a company from being oil producers, refiners, and distributor-retailers at the same time. A decree that says you can be one of those entities but not more than one. PERIOD. Competition is what all these big business types hate and I mean hate.

We have to assert ourselves and remind these multi-national oil companies that competition is not for us suckers.

It's for them too. Especially for them.

If you're not reading Debbie Schussel on a daily basis you are missing something. She not only blasts, she blasts with complete sourcing and references. Take a look.....

Ditto Malkin who also sources everything, which leads me to the obvious question: if shitty little bloggers can source stories why can't MSM? Both these women get paid a little bit for their work so they are not bloggers in the classic (three years) sense, but they sure ain't raking in the gold.

And Believe it or Else, Bush's popularity is rising again as is consumer confidence and investor confidence. I think just being there helps him, but today there are reports of moronic bureaucratic demands for paperwork before rescue work can be done.
John Owens, emergency management coordinator and deputy police chief in the town of 57,000, said pleas for state and federal relief were met with requests for paperwork.
Bush is a leader? Not my kind.

There is a pretty good (but long) piece in the Journal today about Iraq, Islam, conflicts and so on. But this one little bit caught my soul
.....unerring feel for the ways of the Arab world put it thus to me: "Iraq, the Internet, and American power are undermining the old order in the Arab world. There are gains by the day."
I am reminded of a conversation I had with a native Southerner decades ago concerning bigotry and backwardness of the Old South and why all this suddenly changed. "Television," was the one word answer, "Television showed all of us what the North and West had that we didn't, a hell of a lot of us transferred out of LSU and into colleges in the West and North." Back then it was TV that spread a different truth to the less than wealthy in the Southern states, today it is the Internet that is spreading a different truth to the Arab educated class. Keep paying your ISP bills and God only knows the end of it.

Yesterday I asked readers to inform me about the reported 100,000 demonstrators in D.C. and the blogger reported figure of 2,000. One of the comment guys lured me to this site which has pictures. Looks like two thousand to me, so who cooked up the hundred thousand? The pix above show the most people.

SORRY TO TELL YOU THIS, BUT THE "ATHENS" OF AMERICA IS NEW YORK, NOT NEW ORLEANS

Malkin links to a terrific piece in the WSJ about the corruption inside the South in general, with a magifying glass focused on Louisiana, and on New Orleans in particular. Go there. You might like to know that Mississippi is actually more corrupt than Louisiana and I don't think it's an accident that both are in the guts of the "Old South," an area manifesting no idea of the future other than what can I steal today. One huge disagreement I have with John Fund is this statement contained in the middle of his piece
The area has given the country so much--in music, in cuisine, in style.
Permit me to differ with this statement. Other than Tennessee Williams, who wrote some of his stuff there, New Orleans and Louisiana are both artistic and cultural zeros.

Here's an ammended rundown that will show anyone that New Orleans is not an area that has given us much of anything but corrupt politics. It is a cultural sewer and as far from the "Athens of America" as it is possible to be.

First, ART: you know like in real painting and sculpture from American artists who have lived and worked there. Here is a list of the ten best painters as selected by American Artist. I won't list them all, but none are from Louisiana or Mississippi.
Edwin Ahlstrom who was educated in Chicago and now paints in Maryland; Lani Browning who was educated in D.C. and also teaches in Maryland; Ed Cooper who paints in Virginia. Then we can go to the famous Robert Motherwell from New York; Georgia O'Keefe educated in Texas, Chicago, and South Carolina and worked mostly in New York. In fact if you do a Google search you will not find a single outstanding painting or painter from New Orleans OR Louisiana.

Sculpture: Augustus Saint-Gaudens; you might think that an artist with a French sounding name would have to be from Louisiana. Wrong thought. Again, he did his work in New York. You can search and search and find nobody of stature from Louisiana.

Music: one might think that New Orleans is a source of marvelous composers from Louisiana, but that thought is wrong as well. Only Jazz has a connection with Louisiana, but you can search and search and you will find that almost none of the great jazz artists wrote their music there. Instead it is once again New York, Chicago, and a little bit of Kansas City.

In point of fact, New Orleans has produced zero in dance, plays (none of Williams plays premiered there and the city offered no opportunity for him), movies, novelists or photographers. William Faulkner was born in Mississippi and did all his writing there; Tennessee Williams was born in Mississippi, went to the University of Missouri and then graduated from University of Iowa. He did his first work in St. Louis, his first "break" came in Memphis, but it was the Group Theatre in New York that first awarded some of his early work. Williams actually did settle in New Orleans later in life and wrote from there (the nature of playwriting dictated he live in New York) as well as Key West in Florida. His He did his main writing in Key West and New Orleans. Movies were made of most of his plays.

Any claim to a cultue in Louisiana or New Orleans is bogus. Instead, The “Athens of America,” if you need one, is obviously New York or Chicago.

Once again I say that New Orleans is just another culturual sewer, more a Sodom and Gomorrah than a Paris, Rome, or New York. Bury it.

To show their total dedication to saving gasoline, the White House announced this morning that they will require all rescue vehicles in the hurricane zones to operate half days.

Re; the current bullshit regarding the trillion dollars in bonds held by China. I've traded commodities for twenty years and have learned many a hard lesson, none harder than trying to figure out why the Chinese are long or short a market. They always try to manipulate prices with major buys of major commodities with no delivery intention. The "opinion" of their bond holdings has been that they need to shore up their currency with dollars if something happens. You simply CANNOT sell a trillion dollars worth of anything, ever, without depressing the value of that commodity. Why in hell would China do that? The only country that can quickly buy up that amount is the good old USA and we could do it in a nano-second. This is much ado about nothing started by the usual Bush bashing subjects.

I've been super busy and all I caught about the D.C. anti-war rally was the figure on the networks of 100,000 marching for the new Jesus. I saw MTP and Bill Kristol and Russert used that number. Now everybody on the web is saying the figure is 2,000. What the hell am I missing? Comments and emails welcome because a lie of 98,000 is more than just bias. There is this from USA Today....
District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Chief Charles Ramsey estimated that Saturday's anti-war crowd numbered at least 100,000. Protesters gathered on the National Mall and on the Ellipse outside the White House.
Then there's this one from BuzzFlash
On Saturday, more than 100,000 protesters congregated for a rally and march around the Executive Mansion, the largest such gathering in DC since the Iraq war began. It was hard to move in the crowd without accidentally being clobbered by a poster, flag or that ubiquitous weapon of mass obstruction, the backpack.
And this one from the Georgetown University paper
Emotion ran high as anti-war activists from all over the country stood together while calling for peace and justice in Iraq. Metropolitan Police Department officials said that over 100,000 protesters attended the demonstration, which lasted all day Saturday and featured a number of speeches, musical performances and booths dedicated to raising awareness of the Iraq war and other related issues.
WTF??? Are these lies??????

Bush has a big bounce in the polls, at least at Rasmussen..... He also shows that 60% think the economy is going south (it will for a couple of weeks because of Katrina).

DON'T BLAME ME, I'M JUST A VOTER

Like the last dinosaurs thrashing around for a vanishing food supply, Louisiana politicians now demand (yes, demand) $250 BILLION from We the Dopes. Did they spend months examining the damage and getting opinions on the costs? You just don’t understand. They know the costs of everything including the bribes necessary to get approval.

At long last our ever alert media is breaking out of their ideological straight jackets like a slick David Copperfield magically breaking his bonds and posing for applause from a paying audience. MSM is modifying their attendant predisposition for endorsing large federal outlays for every headache and in some cases, shock of shocks, they are actually beginning to report about the totality of the corruption in Louisiana. The preposterous demands from the corrupt Louisiana legislators (who the fuck are they to demand?) for $250 billion in Federal Money are simply the last screams of the dying relics of the political Jurassic Age that is Louisiana; politicians who are engaged in the last grab at money so they can continue to steal as before. One last attempt to “deliver the pork” so they can be reelected by their equally corrupt citizens.

It ain’t gunna happen. Blanco and Landreau are toast. Nagin may actually be reelected by a grateful and corrupt citizenry hoping that their lives of strip clubs, whore houses, whores, public drunkenness, drug dealing, and other public works will get back to normal, this time on Federal money.

We have continuing reports of the corruption in the levy contract award system; the lack of supervision of canal and levee building that has resulted in a flood control system that is under code or contract specifications; bribery to public officials by business and labor groups in order to “get” what is “theirs,” which means getting the most money for the least effort; corrupt police departments; corrupt justice system from top to bottom; and a system for government hiring that guarantees the least qualified have a place.

How do you corrupt the Army Corps of Engineers? The state suspended the Levee Board's ability to refinance old bonds and issue new ones. As the Times-Picayune reported, Legislative Auditor Dan Kyle "repeatedly faulted the Levee Board for the way it awards contracts, spends money and ignores no-bid contract laws." Blocked by the state from raising local money, the federal matching funds went unspent.

By 1998, Louisiana's state government had a $2 billion construction budget, but less than one-tenth of one percent, or $1.98 million, was dedicated to New Orleans levee improvements. By contrast, $22 million was spent that year to renovate a home for the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Where did all the money go? Again, the Times-Picayune says much of the money went not to flood control, but to lawmakers' pet projects, from a $750 million for a new canal lock to a $2.5 million Mardi Gras fountain project that ran $600,000 over budget.

Nine months before Katrina, three top Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness officials were indicted by a federal grand jury in Shreveport and charged, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana, "with offenses related to the obstruction of an audit of the use of federal funds for flood mitigation opportunities throughout Louisiana."

Even the Corps of Engineers are afraid of Congressional anger. All Army Officers can be ruined by a bad fitness report or an angry Senator. Remember Senator Landreau ordering the Corps of Engineers to re-work their cost estimates (inference “or else”)?

The people who are the cause of all this are the citizens of the state who voted for each and every one of these odious scum suckers who occupy every elected office in the state. Voters now want to avoid responsibility for their own lack of interest, their own greed for goodies, and instead they want to be rewarded. The citizens of Louisiana are at fault as is the lazy media who didn’t report on the continuing corruption.

Now they want to be rewarded for their approval of corruption.

Read this one from Debbie Schussel and tell me again why I should vote for Bush or the GOP.

Hysteria Watch: in spite of reports to the contraty in the MSM, retail gas prices are down in LA ten whole cents per gallon.

IMPROVE YOUR SOCIAL LIFE BY HAVING YOUR FRIEND DATE BETTER LOOKING WOMEN

Read this one and then ask yourself if our entire political system has
not been corrupted to its core. The citizens of Bozeman Montana (you know, like people who don't collect bribes) signed a petition asking the local crooks to return to the Federal Government four million dollars in Federal pork designated for a parking garage as a part of the "Highway Bill."

Good for Bozeman citizens.

However, the entire political class from city council to their elected representatives and Senators will not allow it.
All five (local) commissioners, including Mayor Andrew Cetraro, voted to endorse City Manager Chris Kukulski's recommendation not to return the money. He said even if they gave the money back, there would be no guarantee it would be used for hurricane victims.
And then there is this bit of contempt for the citizens, from the city manager of Bozeman
Commissioner Steve Kirchhoff said he resented the "political slight of hand" the issue was creating for the commission. "I don't like people telling me where my priorities should be," he said. "I don't think anybody is trying to skirt over a national tragedy."
Let's see, the citizens have no right to tell their public officials what to do. So the "fight" continues with every elected official refusing to cut "pork" in their district while remaining open about cutting unnecessary spending in someone elses district.

It's like losing weight by having someone else skip their desert.

Canadians actually grow a set of balls? Well, yeah! They just threw out Shria Law and all other religious law and will now only apply the laws that apply to everyone. Muslims threaten to burn their burkas in protest.

Weather forecasts and Energy Futures.....I told you Friday that crude was down around $2 before Rita hit (now down $5; from $68 to $63) and that the futures markets were better at weather prediction than the "experts" on TV. Why? These oil companies hire private forecasters with better track records than NOLA and the rest, although the Government forecasters have gotten much better over the past decade. It is clear that the energy companies and speculators had different weather info on the strength of Rita than the rest of us were getting and told their clients to short the market; they did so. Retail prices for unleaded are off as much as 20 cents in some places. BTW: gold is down from $470 to $460 in the same period.

STREISAND DECLARES 'GLOBAL WARMING EMERGENCY': Probably just that belly full of hot air backing up on her.

College Football: Went to the Oregon vs USC game played in the jet engine of sound known as Autzen Stadium, and once again saw, this time from really good seats in a stadium built exclusively for football, the best running back I've seen since OJ. Be it returning punts, kickoffs, receiving passes, or running from scrimmage (all of which he does on virtually every play) USC's Reggie Bush has it all; moves, speed, and endurance beyond imagination. After a couple of hours functioning in every capacity he was as fast in the fourth quarter is he was in the first . And those moves. My God. If USC comes to your neighborhood you have to see him because TV makes all football players look like less than they are. Why? No depth perspective. Tune in tonight and check out what the yard lines actually look like on TV. Shouldn't they be drawing closer together the further away they are? Not on TV. The TV tube distorts perspective so that the more distant the lines the wider apart they appear to be. This distortion explains why so much of TV appears phony. It is phony when compared to movies in theatres, real life, and great art. The distortion in football means that you have no idea of what a sudden cut to the right or left actually looks like. You have to be there. Have to.

And you could do worse than this satire at Wuzzadem of the moronic "coverage" of Rita by the talking heads.....

9/23/2005

Off to Oregon to catch the USC-Oregon football game BUT as I'm stuck in a pause zone before I leave, note energy prices are down big time and the commodity markets are far better weather forecasters than the TV talking heads: crude better than $2, unleaded down twelve cents, and even better is heating oil. Port Arthur is the place threatened now, but a category Three won't hurt anything there. We may have dodged an atomic bomb, and what the fuck do you do about hurricanes anyway? If some genius can figure a way to cool several hundred miles of sea water he might make a few bucks (whoopsie; sexual harassment: if some PERSON can figure a way......).

A must read WSJ essay that starts thusly:
So we are sending all the king's horses and all the king's men to fix the Humpty-Dumpty of New Orleans. Put it back together on a sinking wall of mud and see if it falls off again.
Every paragraph is quoteable, every sentence loaded, and every liberal do-gooder big spender will hate all of it. The WSJ has out done itself. Do yourself a major favor and read it. More and more of us just look at that sink hole of corruption and think, "stick a fork in it." All this talk about culture is total bullshit, and I think you may agree after reading the essay.

Bulletin from the ever reliable Fark:
Rising waters spill over New Orleans levees, Mayor Ray Nagin calms fears by telling residents that it's just the rinse cycle

FROM: You Walk Me Past the Nicest Parts of Hell
Q: What city is described?
The sin practically runs down the gutters and into the canals here. The whole place stinks of gorgeous intoxicating iniquity. I come alive here. This is humanity at its best. Carving out new values. Revelling in the doom tolling twilight of the old hollow idols.
Could it be Carmel-by-the-Sea? San Francisco? N'Awlins? It could be anywhere I mentioned. This writer is talking about a place in Europe. But it could be far too many places in too many Western countries today.

To the Left, this guy is responsible for 9/11. Join with others to stop their Hate America museum at the 9/11 site.

Way back in the mid 90's
when the GOP was beginning to shop for a guy who could be elected president, the talk was all about Bush, not George W, but handsome articulate multi-lingual Jeb who had just won the election for governor in Florida. The thing was that Jeb barely squeaked in while his brother George W. ran over the supposedly popular up and coming Ann Richards in Texas like he was the steam roller and she was just a daisy; even better, he had the coat tails that pulled in state majorities. Both guys proved to be good governors but Jeb had much more trouble in a racially polarized state (Cubans, Blacks, Mexicans, Whites, Jews) than did W, in a basically Republican state. So the "smart" money went with the guy who was piling up the big numbers and ignored the one who many felt was the vastly superior talent.

Cut to now. Check out brother Jeb. He is a dam good governor and administrator, a terrific communicator in two languages, and has a command that is rare in politics. Compare his recent hassel free evacuation of south Florida where all highways seem to automatically open up opposing traffic lanes so people can get the hell out with Texas where they had no plan to open up four lanes of freeway. Then check out Florida papers this AM and you will see more (dare I say competence) of what I mean. Not only does Florida handle hurricane and disaster evacuations and rescues like they were 6th grade fire drills, Jeb is also on top of the future. Right now he is warning Floridians about an upcoming possible fuel shortage in his state and has already laid plans to get some for Floridians BEFORE anybody thought there might be shortages. Contrast this with the brain dead mayor of N'Awlins and Louisiana's weepy eyed governor, both of whom still don't get it. The contrast between he and his brother George, are like Lincoln compared to Millard Fillmore. I think the wrong Bush is in the White House, but what's done is done. Jeb has zero chance of being nominated, and it's too bad.

Crude down a buck as Rita looks to skirt the refinery concentration in Galveston and moves east. Unleaded gas is down seven cents. Bloomberg reports at 8:30 AM EDT:
Gasoline and crude oil fell on forecasts that a weakened Hurricane Rita, still as strong as Katrina, will skirt the main U.S. refining region near Houston, causing less damage when it reaches eastern Texas tomorrow.

Heather MacDonald blisters the "new" New York Times that has stooped to a new low, even for them. They have a huge front page spread in the Metro Section today including pix, featuring a gay pickup spot at central park complete with instructions on how to "meet." The paper, which is losing circulation each and every day, includes WITHOUT SUPPORTING DATA, the statement that a homo in the parking lot "says" that ten percent of his "contacts" are married men with baby seats in their cars, in spite of the fact that survey after survey indicates the homosexual population at two percent. Besides being an obvious attempt to "main stream" homosexuals and homosexual prostitution, the paper wants to smear the middle class families living in the suburbs. She concludes
Either the Times is even more clueless about the narrowness of its world view than previously thought, or it knows how out of mainstream it is and hopes to shock the leaden bourgeoisie with its trivial sexual obsessions. Either way, its judgment—news and otherwise—is appalling.

Libertas, the conservative movie site, has a terrific list of little known thrillers you might look at. Most I haven't seen, and those I have seen are indeed what he says they are. Making a list and checking it twice before renting all of them.

Michael Yon has a new post up today.

Ranger Jarhead is back up. The photos that may have caused him problems are up as well.

They're baaaaaaak. Them Taliban hunks didn't vote and failed to kill enough voters to stop the election, but they vow to continue the fight. Bett Midler wanted two of them to join her on stage for the concert to raise funds for victims of Katrina, but that prick Bush wouldn't let them in without de-lousing, a process the ACLU condems.

Can Bush turn it around---or perhaps I should ask what difference would it make if Bush turns it around? It may be that the perfectly horrid Democrats may be seizing defeat from the jaws of victory. Starting with Bett Midler's obscene tirade at the "concert" to raise money for hurricane victims, the bogus Senate hearings that attempted to smear a basically honest man; and the media smear against Bush may actually be life savers tossed to the drowning man. The negatives pile up day by day: his brain dead response (response?) to the Pentagon's refusal to allow Able Danger documents to be released to the Congress reads like he's afraid to stand up to Rumsfeld; refusal to stop the border problem reads like kissing ass for the criminal illegal alien vote; refusal to apply fiscal discipline to Congress reads like no guts; the ton of political cronies appointed to agency appointments reads like there is not an ounce of interest in honest and competent government; and Katrina revealed how his bad appointments failed in an emergency that everyone with a TV set knew was coming. But as I survey the field of brain dead Democrats, I say to myself, Them?

Google and copyright.....as those of you who read me know, I am a staunch defender of, and advocate for, copyright. So Google wants to scan all the books in a library and make them available to everyone. So what? What is so fucking sacred about a building with books in it? Because what? These superior than everyone else authors don't want their materials available to the great unwashed unless we trudge over to a library and get a book for free. And suppose the book is out, or even if I have to wait til another person ahead of me gets it and reads it, then what? Reserve it so I can read it in a month when the library informs me they have it. And then trudge over to The Building and check it out for "free." These holy sages don't want to make it easier for me, for old folks, for the infirm, and the fucking lazy to just click on Google and download the book and read it for free. They see a difference. What that difference is, I cannot for the life of me see.

I can see something wrong with scanning a library and getting a new book without paying for it, but a book that has been out for a couple of years? Fuck them. Welcome to the 21st century.

So what is Louisiana going to do with our tax dollars? Why they are going to toss them to Hollywood by giving the mega millionaires tax breaks to shoot movies there. This open handedness happens as the California Legislature refuses to pass a tax break for the zillionaires. But not to fear. The way it works in the Golden State is that when our honest legislators want money, they either bottle up legislation special interest groups thought they had in the bag til the affected industry coughs up big money for their "campaigns," or refuse to hold hearings on laws til the affected industry coughs up. So California will subsidize movies right after the honest legislators collect their bribes.

Suddenly the wild pennant races are all but over. Only the AL Central and the AL East, if you actually believe Boston can win, are still close. It's been a great ride.

Bet you didn't think of this one..... Farmers are worried as hell about their crops. Reason? The costs of drying the soybeans and corn have gone to the moon. So they are taking the risks of losing their entire crops by allowing them to dry "naturally" in the sun. Rain will spoil that one. Not to worry, they have insurance and farm subsidies to take care of them.

Have Bloggers struck again? It looks like the virtual avalanche of hostile remarks about the shack job of Chertoff's Chief of Staff (Julie Myers), who is also the neice of the head of the Joint Chiefs, to head ICE has had an effect. Even the National Review has come out against her. This is really bad for Bush because his base is fed up with him, his mediocre people, and everyone's inability to communicate. I don't know if Bush can turn this around. Everyone I talk with is just "up to here" with his lack of response to almost everything. It's like we are all got tired of excusing his inadequacies at the same time.

Too good to be true from Dumb Ass Daily Here's part of the deal, but only part: Principal, sex, lesbian sex, cocaine, gun in school, prescription drug abuse, drunkeness both in class and school hallways, teachers bringing cocktails to school during lunch hour, plus true love. Ya gotta go there. Oh, did I mention marijuana? That too.

Then there is the story
about strippers in New Orleans back in business entertaining the troops, cops, and others in the bars and strip joints.

I just yawned and changed the channel when I read about the Dems in Maryland getting the credit report on GOP gubernatorial candidate Michael Steele. I stopped yawning when I read Malkin's step by step reporting of a felony. If you haven't been there go take a look.

Another clueless Republican: Texas governor. Looking at the tube of traffic at a standstill trying to evacuate while the opposite bound freeway has one or two cars heading south. Obvious question: why not reverse traffic? What an asshole. He tells everyone to leave and then makes it impossible to leave. One driver interviewed on the News said that he covered eight miles in eight hours. This was the training ground for our president. Any democrat will stomp the moron governor. Oh, and there is no gas in the gas stations either. Great planning.

Mickey Kaus has a very long piece about unions and the Davis Bacon Act, a piece of legislation that demands government hire union labor. He touches on the UAW's stranglehold on the remaining U.S. carmakers. I was at a management comference about fifteen years ago, and a woman named MaryAnn Keller (an insider advisor to business then) asked, "Can any car company make money if they have a UAW contract?" She went on to predict the stock prices for the industry we have now, and the eventual collapse of the entire business if they couldn't get out from under the UAW. Well here we are and Business Week pretty well lays it out, (link to a very old article).
Logic says that when your cash holdings exceed your entire valuation in the stock market, some Wall Street shark is going to swoop in, snap up the good parts, and toss the rest. Companies with bloated factories and workforces got religion the hard way 20 years ago, in the days of "Neutron Jack" Welch. And with today's more active boards, CEOs who consistently lose ground to the competition usually don't need Donald Trump to tell them they're fired.

But GM, of course, is no ordinary company. With sales of $193 billion, it stands as an icon of fading American industrial might. Size and symbolism dictate that its fate has sweeping implications. After all, GM's payroll pumps $8.7 billion a year into its assembly workers' pockets. Directly or indirectly, it supports nearly 900,000 jobs -- everyone from auto-parts workers to advertising writers, car salespeople, and office-supply vendors. When GM shut down for 54 days during a 1998 labor action, it knocked a full percentage point off the U.S. economic growth rate that quarter. So what's bad for General Motors is still, undeniably, bad for America.

And make no mistake, GM is in a horrible bind. That $1.1 billion loss in the first quarter doesn't begin to tell the whole story. The carmaker is saddled with a $1,600-per-vehicle handicap in so-called legacy costs, mostly retiree health and pension benefits.I
Junk Bond status? We're UAW, we don't care about stuff like that. UAW contracts will not allow GM to cut back because the contract demands that GM run at 80% capacity, no matter what. Bye bye GM.

NOT FROM MSM:
One child was killed and another was injured when terrorists used them as human shields during coalition forces raids of three terrorist safe houses Sept. 20 in Mosul, Iraq's third largest city, officials in Baghdad reported today.
Those brave Freedom Fighters did a bad? No. Keep watching FOX and the rest of the MSM and doze off. Full Story is HERE...the kid lived.

And horrible news
for our patriotic Left: Elections in Afghanistan were successful, giving them their first elected government in history.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2005 – The people of Afghanistan successfully voted in new leaders Sept. 18. Limited violence was reported near only a handful of voting stations, military officials said.

Afghan National Army, Afghan National Police and international military forces ensured more than 12.5 million registered voters had an opportunity to participate in the National Assembly elections in a relatively safe and secure environment.

"It's a historical day that we have today. ... It will be good for our future, and we will have a good future," Jahwedolah, an Afghan police patrolman, said.
To the Left this is just a fake since terrorists still rule and the Parliament will have to deal with them and can't blah blah blah. And for those of you who read the Left, when Daoud Khan supposedly was elected? He was the only one allowed to run.

The clueless Whitehouse allows every myth about their Katrina response to go unchallenged. It's not the responsibility of bloggers or talk radio to do what any president with so much as an ounce of moxy would do on his own, but WuzzaDem did it last week and now has an add. Face it, Bush is mediocrity personified and almost everybody he appoints to anything is worse than he is, especially his communication "staff." I don't think he's dumped that stupid Myers babe he evacuated from his bowels and just dropped into ICE either.

Bengal qb Carson Palmer re-considered; emailer Ron M. reminds me that Palmer had a big rep for being stupid while at USC. He continually lost track of downs, couldn't remember routes, and made some major mental blunders (he single handedly lost the 2001 Oregon game USC had in the bag) that cost games. All that was before Norm Chow and Carroll established themselves and Palmer became All Galaxy. Don't get too excited Bengal fans, the "old" Carson Palmer may still lurk within. Cheer, and pray too.

While Bush snoozes his poll numbers collapse, in part because the hard core of his base is against the flood of Mexicans streaming across our borders and he refuses to do anything about it. Per Rasmussen Reports:
Immigration Laws Seen as Threat to National Security and Economy

Seventy-six percent (76%) of American voters say it is too easy for people from other countries to enter the United States. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that just 11% take the opposite view and believe it is too hard.

The survey also found that 63% believe that "current immigration laws" are a threat to national security. Just 20% disagree. Sixty-two percent (62%) consider the laws a threat to the U.S. economy while 23% disagree.
There is a lot more. And no, Bush won't wake up because, believe it or not, he actually is awake right now.

FOX so-called News is doing re-runs of yesterdays "shows" while CNN and MSNBC are doing hard coverage of Rita shortly before 6AM EDT. It's like the Bush White House has taken over. I'm telling you FOX's days as top news dog are over over over. And FOX coverage of the plane crash landing yesterday featured long long shots of the plane making the Airbus look like a humming bird while MSNBC and CNN were all over it with close ups of the landing gear etc. Short Murdoch's News Corp? Better look at it. FOX cannot maintain ratings supremacy with re-runs and lousy coverage. Roger Ailes has moved on up and is no longer minding the store.

Emailer J Thompson informs me that the water is getting cooler in the Gulf near shore south of Galveston where he lives. If this represents a cooler ocean a hundred or more miles out into the Gulf then Rita will weaken before it hits shore. From his PC to God's ears....

6AM ADD: ...POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC CATEGORY FIVE RITA OVER THE CENTRAL GULF
OF MEXICO...SLIGHT WEAKENING IS ANTICIPATED TODAY. Now possibly a three when it hits.

The Hard Left drive to take over the 9/11 Memorial continues in high gear while too many of us are rivited on Rita. The leftist- influenced and leftist- financed International Freedom Center at Ground Zero in Manhattan will be a Hate America fest if we don't get involved in fighting it. Go here, they need some bucks too. These Lefty Pricks are trying to get more and more state tax money for themselves and NY Governor Pataki, another gutless Republican (are there any other kind?), is caving:
They need the extra half-billion (in tax dollars) to build cultural centers, to include one that will be a "public square on hallowed ground," meaning a platform for political debate on a memorial site. This self-proclaimed International Freedom Center will also contain extraneous – to 9/11 – history lessons.
And those lessons are all about how bad America is and how we deserved 9/11 because (fill in the blanks).

U.S. Army has lowered standards to a dangerous level. Right Wing Nation reports that enlistees no longer have to be high school grads nor do they have to pass a GED test. People this stupid are the ones who gave us Abu Grahib. I served with a ton of them before there were high standards and we are talking people who cannot and will not conform to anything. Rapes, fights, general property damage when they go out on a bender, continuing AWOLs is SOP for these types. The Army will pay for education so these morons can pass the test, but it shows that recruiting has hit the skids.

While Rita roars Claudia ponders:
Would we create a U.N. in which the financial accounts are secret, the auditing is inadequate, and the standards are double or worse--lax for the highest officials and severe for lower-tier staff who lack patrons in the right places?
What would the UN look like if it was placed into the 21st Century, yesterday at WSJ

LET THE REFUSENIKS DROWN

Now about the morons who won't evacuate---I don't know why we have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to resuce the bastards from floods after Rita leaves. Let the fuckers drown.

As of around midnight on the 22nd it looks like Rita's eye will hit south of Galveston, which means the winds will be in the catgegory 4 area at most when it hits the port. The oil pumping stations in the area are designed to withstand category 3. It's the floods, stupid, not the wind.... And nobody is measuring water temps in front of the path and water temps have everything to do with the strength of a hurricane.

9/21/2005

Greenspan raises rates----why? Because he wants to be right about the housing "bubble" and he wants to wreck the housing market with high rates. When he went after the Dot Com bubble several years ago he did the same thing. I don't know why the entire board, save one, went along. This could be an economy wrecker, not anything new for Greenspan. Mad Money's Cramer thinks this will be a huge bull for the stock market. Not if Rita has anything to say about it.

How warm is the water in the Gulf? The people living on the west coast of Florida NEVER go into the ocean to cool off. It's like taking a bath. Temps as high as 90 degrees, always in the high 80s cheap gasoline for a raging hurricane

Houston: built below sea level too and on a fucking swamp. If you've ever been there between June and October you know that it is the birth place of the giant mosquito and they swarm. The reason is the water that carries the larvae can't be sprayed because everything is water. Eye now projected to hit South of Houston-Galveston. Map Here

THE OUTSIDE THE BELTWAY PRESIDENT PAYS THE PRICE AND SO DOES THE COUNTRY

One good (bad?) thing as a result of the FEMA leadership is that Conservatives are lining up like a firing squad on W's horrible choices for various agencies. Debbie Schussel, the right wing bomb thrower, is the latest to open fire and boy does she do a number. She not only buries the completely unqualified new head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Julie Myers, who has been appointed to head the most important law enforcement agency in the War on Terror, she goes after everyone. And she is correct.
Agents wondered what this 36-year-old's credentials were--besides being General Myers' niece and the (shack job) bed partner of Chertoff's Chief of Staff (to whom she was then engaged and is now married). The clueless Myers needed days and days of tutoring from ICE executive management for her nomination hearings.
She then moves on to Garcia the former head of ICE.
Instead of investigating radical Islamic groups' money-laundering to Muslim terrorists, ICE Special Agents in Charge, like Brian Moskowitz (who oversees the heart of Islamic America--Michigan and Ohio), are hanging out at Hezbollah mosques (future column), pandering to "former" Islamic terrorists, and enlisting them in Arabic-speaking agent recruitment efforts. With Garcia's tacit approval, Moskowitz shut down many investigations into Islamic terrorist money-laundering and illegal Islamic immigration, hanging out with individuals tied to these operations instead.
Be sure you read the piece, it's terrific.

I have blogged since I started about the horrible Bush appointments and his "stand by your man" code of governance. The list of Clinton holdovers he should have fired include the inept "Chloroform(ed)"Norm at Transportation; the clod Tenant at CIA; and Louis Freeh, the Inspector Clouseau FBI director under Clinton and held over after the election of "reformer" Bush; Freeh was as responsible as anyone for 9/11, a guy who never should have had the job in the first place. There are more Clouseaus too numerous to mention. Worse, if possible, are W's appointments: the totally "in the tank with the accounting crooks' head of the SEC, Harvey Pitts; CFTC Chairman Walter Lukken, a guy with no experience in the corrupt commodities exchanges. Then we have the near insurrectionist horde of Clinton holdovers at DoD that could have been and should have been fired if not arrested for forgery; Richard Clarke who actively worked to sabotage the entire administration, and on and on and on.

Meanwhile, people siding with Bush and exposing what was going on, people like FBI Agent Coleen Rowley, who detailed the incompetence and national security risks of a Bush appointee, simply disappear.

Why the semi-competent appointments? I think this is the price we pay when we elect a Washington "Outsider," a guy who knows nobody, a guy who has to rely on his assistants to guide him to the "right" people. Picking that political crony, the sitting governor of Pennsylvania Tom Ridge, meant that we got Joe Smiley in charge of a very serious agency. Qualified? Yes, he was a proven good administrator but his manner was totally wrong, smiling through a terror threat is not what was needed.

Bush knows nobody, knew nobody, and picked agency heads out of a hat. Be wary of "outsiders." Knowing nobody can be a terrible handicap, as a lot of people in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama found out.

Footnote: Didn't he have an ultimate insider in Dick Cheney? And what about his old man, the former prez? Yes on both counts, but.....Cheney had been out of the loop for more than 8 years as had his father. Using Cheney and his Dad, and also James Baker was using old news. They knew dead guys, old guys; nobody knew the young guns. Then there is the fact that the president himself was not bringing forth the candidates. Cheney and Bush I bring forth either the guys each would have if they were president, or who they think is best for Bush II. We need people as president who know the bureaucracy, know who is available to run things and run them right. Wasn't done. Isn't being done as the appointment of that former shack job for Meyer's son as ICE head.

PORKBUSTER WATCH

Here's what I suspect and why:
I was going to do my part in PorkBusters so I went to Tax Payers for Common Sense, pulled down the appropriations link, and looked for the Pork in my city. Guess what? Zero. Zippo. Nada. I think that when a congressman gets a huge amount of money for a pork project he agrees to support others for a period of time without requesting more for himself for a while. My city fucked the U.S. Taxpayers out of nearly a billion dollars for a "street improvement" on a State Highway that runs through the center of town. This project took nearly five years and inconvenienced everybody. Businesses had to close down and many had to leave the city because customers couldn't enter. What we got out of your money is a couple of miles of crummy trees on each side of the street, new sidewalks, new drainage, and within a mile and a half of high end restaurants and stores, you guys gave us a median strip of grass (not the smoking kind) and a widened street. I think our guy (Henry Waxman, he of AIDS research and Smoking is Bad) simply made a deal whereby he would request zero for a while. I then started to check parts of LA close to me. Guess what I found? HiWay improvements, Freeway repair, a Children's Hospital research grant, sewer improvements, and stuff like that. Getting rid of "pork" just ain't that easy because so much of it is necessary (you can argue that if it is so necessary the city should pay for it). Only in rural areas can you find the awful Pork. I used to live in the now mega millionaire hang out of the Monterey Peninsula of California. Now there is where Pork-a- Plenty is spent. 400K for a nature trail, 150K for aquarium improvement, and plenty of shit like that. I think that most useless spending is done in sparsely populated areas. Especially sparsely populated areas where rich people who want low taxes live. Anyway just my thought.

In case you're wondering....
What happend to all the Right Wing Bomb Throwing Bitches links? After reading all of them for three weeks, I decided they all had one thing in common: they had nothing to say. So I dumped them. They should stick to recipes and kitchen cleaning tips. And if Ann Coulter writes one more column like last week's totally inane ramble, I'll dump her skinny ass too.

Germany, not that I give a fat fuck, is approaching Conservative Government as our true friend, Gerhard Schroeder, "went off" on a TV show yesterday and really pissed people off.
Despite coming in behind conservative challenger Angela Merkel, the Chancellor - in an interview with all leading candidates after Sunday's elections - insisted he had won and should remain German leader.

This means Schroeder is locked in battle with Merkel who insists she should head the next German government. With both sides digging in their heels the impasse is likely to remain for weeks and could even force new elections - which some analysts say is Schroeder's secret goal.
People of all political stripes are shocked, shocked, at the PMs tactics
Arnulf Baring, a leading German political historian, termed the Chancellor's performance "shocking".

"He spoke on election night as if he was on the verge of carrying out a putsch," said Baring in a B.Z. newspaper interview, adding: "The way he is treating democracy and majority rule is truly threatening."
Read the whole thing if Germany interests you. Me? I'd rather go to a porn site.

Obvious racism in (shock awe) France. The French are going to pay "professional women" (read white) to have babies. Muslims in France are producing an average of six kids per family and French (white professionals) only a baby and a half.
With some 80.7 percent of women aged between 25 and 49 participating in the workforce, France has one of the highest rates of working women in Europe. But the report said that this is not incompatible with a high birth rate and that -- with the proper policies -- the two can go hand-in-hand.
Proper policies mean subsidizing child birth, you know like Hitler used to do, in order to stop France from becoming Muslim, an event that could happen by 2025.

Senior Excercise Program for Seniors in Katrina Shelters, courtesy of FEMA: Do these excercises three days a week. Just don't overdo it.
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-LB. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax.

Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-LB. potato sacks. Then 50-LB. potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a100-LB. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

ROBERTS WILL TRY TO GET EVEN

The way Senators
tried to embarrass, humiliate, trap, and in general trash Roberts has got to come back and bite, just a little. The guy is not going to ignore liberal cases as if they were just cases. He has to bear a little bit of a grudge. As does Clarence Thomas. These stupid Democrats are guaranteeing a very Conservative court because of their actions. You can bet Roberts will get even.

Crude up a buck overnight as Katrina heads toward the oil producing area of Galveston - Houston. Not to worry, the islands in front of Galveston will weaken the hurricane and Houston is too far inland to be nailed by the category 4 predicted; most it will be by the time it gets there is a two. Oil prices will come down pretty hard after the weekend.

Yesterday I posted a short piece (within a longer piece) about the phony Cindy Sheehan "rally' (150 people is really a cocktail party) deliberately held without a permit so Cindy could be arrested in full media view and so that her followers could call the police Nazis. Well I was wrong. Her followers are calling the police "Stalinists." Remember, the only purpose for Left "rallies" is to get face time and the best and easiest way to do it is have a rally without a police permit. Yesterday's short post:
When the movement starts to fail deliberately stage a rally without a permit in a large city; the resulting arrest will make a victim out of you and restart the flame. Sheehan had a "rally" (150 people) in Appleville yesterday without a permit and got arrested. Headlines abound: Post NYT and so on. It's an old tactic of the Left and it still works, at least in NY papers. First story was in the always reliably Left, Village Voice.
And the entire MSM, including the increasingly clueless FOX, ran with it.

STUCK ON STUPID will become the phrase that everyone will stick on every stupid reporter from now on. Radio Blogger posted the General Honore press conference where these stupid reporters kept asking the same question over and over. His response? "You're stuck on stupid." If you haven't been there already, the interview is HERE. The Video is HERE.

BLACK REFUGEES SPLURGE ON LUXURY GOODS----ON OUR DIME

As the reaction to the hate speech by Black "leadership" and the news of refugees buying luxury items with their new credit card handouts abound, "No More Money for New Orleans, None, Not One Thin Dime" appears and you can look for more as the nasty entitlement attitude becomes the norm.
Meanwhile, the rest of the state of Louisiana and the entire state of Mississippi (remember them?) get little or no play in the media. New Orleans is only a small area of the disaster, its population not even a majority of the affected people. Yet they seem to be getting the vast majority of the attention and money. And they are wasting it, while still accusing US, the American taxpaying public, of racism and stinginess.

By the way, before the "stupid white guy" knee-jerking starts, remember that I am NOT white.
Further down
Hurricane "victims" stuffing money handed out to them by FEMA, the Red Cross, or both into the g-strings of strippers. These same victims holding up drinks while they're out "clubbing" with that same money. More "poor people who've lost everything" photographed leaving stores with Louis Vuitton bags and other "necessities" of survival such as jewelry and electronics.
The refugees may have seen the last of "stupid whitey's money."

For those of you who don't get ZNet bulletins, be sure you read this one. Spyware is really hitting us hard and there seems to be no solution. I have a blocker that seems to work, but who knows for sure?

Have major medical exams and stuff today so no real blogging, just a few good links: After days and days of blog pissing about the fake Tim Russert interview on MTP, NBC is now "reviewing" the time line. Think this would happen without blogs exposing the whole thing? The coup dee grass of the outing is RIGHT HERE.

Clinton's bullshit about how he "would have handled the storm" if only he or somebody just as sensitive to people's needs had been in office, is being put to rest by his very own words when he was president and faced with a similar storm. As usual, he is lying. Again. Still. A well footnoted and linked post is HERE

Whoopsie, me wrong again when I said HERE that the one good thing about the Katrina screw up was that at long last political appointments to agencies would end. Nothing mediocre ends when W is in office. Michelle lays bare another mediocre Bush appointment of some woman whose only qualification is that she is the daughter of the head of the Joint Chiefs. Bush appointments have been bad, and even worse he sticks by these bums no matter what.

More Bush New New Deal is being jumped on all over. His "plan" (which in reality is just some nut case "idea" that popped up because he had nothing else) for placing God only Knows how many trailers for use by Katrina victims is being roasted to a black brick, no roast is better than HERE.
.....buying 300,000 trailers, which will end up costing one hell of a lot more than 5 billion by the time they're done, must be one of the biggest wastes of money in all of American history. Come on, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you could give these 300,000 people rental vouchers that pay out, let's say, $4200 a family for 6 months, rather than spending -- real world, as opposed to government estimates -- $25,000, $30,000, $35,000 (if not more) per family to put these displaced people up in mobile homes.
Want to know why people don't flee hurricanes even when "warned"? The hysteria about this crummy storm (that isn't even a hurricane), media howls to get out of the way of nothing but high winds and a few waves, and dire flood warnings over nine inches of rain tells it all. This storm is nothing to anybody who has ever been to sea, lived in Florida, Hong Kong, or anywhere else. Just awful. And it's why nobody pays attention to hurricane warnings.

Crude down a buck (actually a buck nine at post time) overnight
as storm stays pretty weak. Category two and lower pose no threat at all to oil rigs or refineries.

Three Brit papers are now carrying the story that we are burning their Hurricane Aid because of USDA ban. Link to Daily Record story....See my post of yesterday.

Drudge broke it on the web, I think.

How bad is Yahoo? Cleveland is battling Chicago for the league championship and Yahoo doesn't even carry the score of the game at 1:21AM PDT. Too late to short the stock because it's sinking like a stone. Fall started early summer. Investors must have realized just how bad Yahoo was becoming at their stated tasks way back then. Here is their "Sports" page at 2:07 AM PDT

IT'S OFFICIAL: FIREFOX IS A BOMB PER SYMANTEC

ZD Net is reporting that Mozilla browsers (Mozilla, Firefox, and probably Netscape) are more vulnerable to hackers now than IE. Mozilla has always scared me with their casual approach to handling problems. I may have to just stop using it altogether. The actual warning is from Symantec which originally reported many eons ago that Firefox was more secure than IE. Per another ZD Net article,
Firefox not only has more vulnerabilities per month than Internet Explorer, but it is now surpassing Internet Explorer for the number of exploits available for public download in recent months.
The piece then lists comparisons of attacks between Firefox and IE and the difference is startling. May make you switch back to something else too. Mozilla is a fringy operation, to put the best possible light on them.

Late Add: there are now twelve stories about it on Google.

More Bush Administration SNAFU (Situation Normal, All Fucked Up) as apparently the brilliant bureaucracies have blocked all Brit Hurricane aid of food, which is the exact same food all our GIs, and theirs, are eating in Iraq. Brits are fuming because it is "reported" that the FDA and the USDA are planning on burning all the food donated.
One British aid worker last night called the move "sickening senselessness" and said furious colleagues were "spitting blood". The food, which cost British taxpayers millions, is sitting idle in a huge warehouse after the Food and Drug Agency recalled it when it had already left to be distributed. Scores of lorries headed back to a warehouse in Little Rock, Arkansas, to dump it at an FDA incineration plant.
Another triumph for an incompetent bunch of administrators appointed by "you know Goddam Well Who." This is developing into a public relations disaster too because lots of international aid is involved. It is really stupid IF TRUE.
"Everyone is revolted by the chaotic shambles the US is making of this crisis. Guys from Unicef are walking around spitting blood. "This is utter madness. People have worked their socks off to get food into the region. "It is perfectly good Nato approved food of the type British servicemen have. Yet the FDA are saying that because there is a meat content and it has come from Britain it must be destroyed.
Nice work, George. The Secretary of Ag is a guy named Mike Johanns, former governor of Nebraska and not a farmer or agri-bus guy. He is another political guy and he bowed to Northwest state interests in banning all meat that is more than thirty months old and it is apparently this rule that the USDA is using to block the Brit aid....
Washington, DC – Secretary Mike Johnanns responded to concerns of the of Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Larry Craig and Idaho Congressmen Mike Simpson and C.L. “Butch” Otter and many in the U.S. cattle industry in delaying a provision of a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) rule that would have allowed for the importation of beef product over 30 months of age.
They are alleging that the FDA is involved too but the head of FDA, Dr. Mark B. McClellan, is not a political hack but he's not a food expert either. I don't know why they would be involved in this, IF THE ARE. Anyway, one good thing that may come of all this is that the appointment of political hacks to every cabinet post may be examined much more closely in the future. Then this is more bad news for the GOP which looks incompetent at many levels. Late Add: Whoopsie, wrong again, Howard. Michelle lays bare another mediocre Bush appointment upcoming of some woman whose only qualification is that she is the daughter of the head of the Joint Chiefs.

Don't have the time to cover the total flip flop of Clinton over the War in Iraq but Junk Yard is doing it as well as anyone. He points out that Clinton was the last of the big name Dems to remain separated from the Hard Left within the party. I think this means Hillary will similarly leave the center as well. Knowing those two sleezebags, there must be a poll somewhere showing that the Left IS the Democrat Party now......Power Line also opens both barrels, and I mean both barrels.

And more about the Louisiana locals stealing Federal money and the AP trying to lie about it in their own story about the looting......

Libertas is touting the new four disc set of Ben Hur. Take a look, and for those of you who think it was just another sand, sandal, and Bible movie from DeMille---------you are dead wrong. Rent a $3 disc from your local video store and you might consider Libertas's recommendation of the new four disc release.

Radio Equalizer is worth a trip today if only to read this piece about all us Righties uniting to keep Air America up and running. It seems they have jumped so far off the deep end that they are running the GOP campaign for them. Latest is airing the accusation that the Bush Administration blew up the dykes---whoopsie, dikes---in New Orleans....

Rasmussen polling
indicates sagging approval for throwing money at N'Awlins flood relief. And sagging approval for Bush among conservatives. Actually Right Wing News has a better overview. I think every time that crook Nagin opens his mouth support for throwing money at him decreases exponentially.

All the smart guys are observing that Germany is NOW paralyzed. Hey, Germany has been paralyzed for five years, assholes. The new election simply gets our pal Gerhardt out of the equation.

Crude prices explode this AM supposedly fearing the new storm. I say supposedly because nobody really knows why and the storm is there so blame it. More likely is the increasing skepticism about Saudi ability to pump oil. Many believe that their fields have seen their day and are now facing declining production. This is without exploration, but an oil field beneath an oil field has never been found.

San Diego vs.
Denver 14 to 3, 1:29 2nd
St. Louis vs.
Arizona 7-3 0:45 1st
And it goes on like that for all the NFL games posted on Yahoo at 7AM PDT this morning. Not one score is complete and of course none are accurate. And Yahoo is expected to challenge ??? as a news site? Short the stock......

Pro Football observations: I've been watching Bengal QB Carson Palmer since he was a kid at Rancho Santa Margarita Catholic High School in SoCal where he was only amazing. Never have I seen a high school kid throw a long pass as far and as accurately as he could. I guess his pro career has finally taken off and all of you are about to see a passer at least as good as Manning. What? Yes, at least as good as Manning. When he was at USC, once Pete Carroll showed up in 2001, after Palmer had served under one of the worst coaches Division I has ever seen, he became the terror of the Left Coast. Prediction: Duh Bengals are gunna be good for the next eight to ten years.

College: I made the observation before the season started that UCLA was running an underground football enrichment program in a lead lined cellar in Westwood and that they were going to be real real good this season. They are real real good this season. How good? Well, they have a cream puff sked til the end of the season (unless Arizona State turns around) when they play USC so we'll all find out in late December, but they have a big and nasty defense of young guys who can only get better each week.

EL PORKO GRANDE'

Joining the Pork Post, a blog movement to stop pork spending, is too stupid for words. Every pork in my district is a work project involving contractors, workers, and in some cases cities and towns. "Let's stop adding a wing onto the Children's Hospital," "Demand an end to road improvement in (name the racial ghetto)," and so on forever. Most Pork is jobs. Now there are undoubtedly those cities and towns that, like N'Awlins, are corrupt to their core and the Pork is just money to stick in some politico pockets, but actually find them, and after finding them try to get rid of them, just try. It's also easy to find a few easy to laugh at projects: therapeutic horseback riding and a school mariachi music curriculum are two that are easy to laugh at, but you can bet a few well known doctors will rise up to defend the medical benefits of riding horses, and educators will scream racial discrimination over the mariachi music pointing to "European classical music instruction" as an example of white music being forced down the throats of helpless minorities. Things like The recovery of Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse ($500,000); and $100,000 for the Alabama Quail Trail would need years of examining now that they are rolling. And the 50K for a tattoo removal program in San Luis Obispo County, California will create jobs. 50K is an interesting figure because most Pork is chump change, it's the total that is staggering.

Below are two of the roughly 250,000 Porko Projects. Pretend they are in your hometown and you'll see what I mean. The truth of the matter is that at least fifty percent of all Grants are phony anyway. However here a a very few places to save, starting with money they can't find:

The Missing $25 Billion Find it, I dare you..

Buried in the Department of the Treasury’s 2003 Financial Report of the United States Government is a short section titled “Unreconciled Transactions Affecting the Change in Net Position,” which explains that these unreconciled transactions totaled $24.5 billion in 2003.

The unreconciled transactions are funds for which auditors cannot account: The government knows that $25 billion was spent by someone, somewhere, on something, but auditors do not know who spent it, where it was spent, or on what it was spent. Blaming these unreconciled transactions on the failure of federal agencies to report their expenditures adequately, the Treasury report concludes that locating the money is “a priority.” The unreconciled $25 billion could have funded the entire Department of Justice for an entire year.

Medicare Overspending

Medicare; THE sacred cow of all cows, wastes more money than any other federal program, yet its strong public support leaves lawmakers hesitant to address program efficiencies, which cost taxpayers and Medicare recipients billions of dollars annually, money legislators won't find or even focus upon.

For example, Medicare pays as much as eight times what other federal agencies pay for the same drugs and medical supplies.[6] The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently compared the prices paid by Medicare and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care program for 16 types of medical equipment and supplies, which account for one-quarter of Medicare’s equipment and supplies purchases. The evidence showed that Medicare paid an average of more than double what the VA paid for the same items. The largest difference was for saline solution, with Medicare paying $8.26 per liter compared to the $1.02 paid by the VA.

These higher prices not only cost the program more money, but also take more money out of the pockets of Medicare beneficiaries. In 2002, senior citizens’ co-payments accounted for 20 percent of the $9.4 billion in allowed claims for medical equipment and supplies.[8] Higher prices mean higher co-payments.

Medicare also overpays for drugs. In 2000, Medicare’s payments for 24 leading drugs were $1.9 billion higher than they would have been under the prices paid by the VA or other federal agencies. Although Medicare is supposed to pay wholesale prices for drugs, it relies on drug manufacturers to define the prices, and manufacturers have strong incentives to inflate their prices.[9]

Nor are inflated prices for drugs and supplies the most expensive examples of Medicare’s inefficiencies. Basic payment errors—the results of deliberate fraud and administrative errors—cost $12.3 billion annually. As much as $7 billion owed to the program has gone uncollected or has been written off.[10] Finally, while Medicare contracts claims processing and administration to several private companies, 19 cases of contractor fraud have been settled in recent years, with a maximum settlement of $76 million.[11]

Putting it all together, Medicare reform could save taxpayers and program beneficiaries $20 billion to $30 billion annually without reducing benefits. That would be enough to fund a $3,000 refundable health care tax credit for nearly 10 million uninsured low-income households.

The Heritage Foundation has a complete and sickening list, including grants of money to colleges that don't even exist. I dare you to cut it.

The Mayor of N'Awlins, a crook facing indictment, is trying to provoke a Constitutional crises by insisting on repopulating the city. Forcing a change in focus outside of themselves is a tactic typical of all dictators everywhere and all crooks everywhere. He clearly must be stopped by any rational judgement, but forcing the Feds to intervene will provoke all the Bush haters in the press. We cannot just give this horror story in the making any money, nor can we cut the refugees of the city adrift. It's a vexing problem never faced by our government other than in times of War. And be sure you drop by the WSJ and read The GOP's New New Deal. The spending binge is out of control.

MORE of where our 200 bil in tax dollars will be going. Write your representative because these Louisiana people are pure criminals........ My reps are Boxer, Feinstein, and Waxman (known as the California Communist Conspiracy), and many of you are represented by the New Republican Socialists, so I.........

How about them Trojans? A guy in my building had an extra ticket so I went to the USC vs Arkansas "football game." 90,000 plus of us stayed through the third quarter because we were in awe at what we were seeing. I never saw the Army teams of the 40's that were populated with draft dodging great athletes who played 4Fs at other schools, nor the Oklahoma teams of the 50s, but I cannot imagine a deeper roster of athletes ever. Two games do not a season make, but Holy Shit!

The next Left attack will focus squarely on the lack of "experienced" people in FEMA, real and phony examples of their failures, and it's all Bush's fault. Well OK, the things that are true are Bush's fault---but then the things that were good are Bush's accomplishments, no? Not to the CNN-MSM crowd. CNN is as good a place as any to start and they are featuring quite a few "urban legends" (lies) as examples. Perhaps the "new Greyhawk" will begin focusing on those lies as they do HERE, bit I look for pro journalists like Malkin to get on their case. Why not me? I do trabajo and don't have the time.

Anybody know what happened to Rangerjarhead? The site wasn't that controversial and had no fucking porn or cursing at all....

I join with many of you mourning the closing of Kim DuToit's site, which was informative, entertaining, and the only place to go to find out if that gun you just bought from this black guy who had six of them in the trunk of his car would really kill a "fuckin' million 'a them motha fuckahs....." or blow up in your hand. Come back soon Kim.

And speaking of closed sites, the new and improved Mudville Gazette is just not the same. It's entire purpose for being was its posts about the war in Iraq by somebody who was actually there. Bunch of clueless (and boring) women writing it now with the emphasis on other things. The current posting about Katrina is interesting ...... but who ever went there to find out about the VD rate in Houston?

And porn being available to all the kiddies everywhere via cell phone will cause hard core liberals to praise freedom of speech and leave the rest of us honestly wondering about the effects of porn on the culture in general. The real facts are that most women fear porn, and rightly so. The obvious male sexual demands stimulated by porn evolve very quickly into insisting that their sexual partners perform the same acts as the porn babes do. Face it folks, most women do not want men ejaculating in their faces and hair, do not want ever larger dildos inserted in various places of their anatomy, and cannot reach orgasms lasting several hours complete with screams and have them on a demand basis. They don't want simultaneous multiple partners (gang bang), double fucks (simultaneous front and back sex), whipping and other fun stuff. Real women also get older than 23, eventually. Twenty three is the age at which most porn "queens" leave the business because their charms don't work once the inevitable crows feet show up; and since Hi-Def video is now the format for all porn, one tiny crows foot looks like a Grand Canyon has rooted on your face. The porn fixated male becomes disinterested in "real" women and prefers the fantasy. Porn in the workplace has long ago been an obvious source of "production fall off" as well as grist for the feminst law suits, but now we can get all the writhing climaxing fellatio hungry women we all desperately want by using our cell phones. I have this hunch that there will be a major split in the male female view of most things in our society as a result. I do not know why men don't feel threatened by the porn actors, all of whom have huge accoutrements that stay rock hard for days and spurt that white stuff ten or more times per hour, but we don't. Nor do I know whatever happend to penis envy, that catch all mental disease of the fifties and sixties that made tens of thousands of shrinks rich, but it seems to have vanished down an Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole along with all the other fashionable "mental diseases" that are now cured by the right pill, soon to be replaced by the right recreational crime or some such shit.

Very late add: Many of you have emailed me with different info, and I first want to thank you for not posting porn links in my comments section. Emailers have informed me that there are hard core porn sites for "Young Men and Older Women" meaning women up to 30; "Young Men and Young Mothers" meaning women up to about 40, "Young men and their mothers" which means women up to about 50, many with graying hair and not great bodies. Their conculsions indicate something other than a craving for younger women. It's still fantasy sex (I don't for a second believe that there are hundreds of hours of real mother son sex) and the other sexual fantasies are still women in roles that cannot possibly be filled by wives (in all but a few cases). Thanx for not posting the actual sites, I like to think I appeal to mature teens too.

While we haven't heard much about FEMA in the last few days, just wait a while for a full investigation. This posting from the Counterterrorism blog (by way of Mudville) reminds us all of the incredible mismanagement of the entire "rescue" operation. If you made a little movie out of this one the critics would call it "hopelessly contrived," it is that unbelieveable. I hope you have read my post containing the letter I received from a military guy who ran rescue ops many eons ago. You have to have people who will just do it, and risk the consequences of "breaking rules."

Things in Iraq: from Mudville the news that former (ho ho) terrorist Sadr may have seized an entire part of the country while we slept. This guy should have been killed when we had the chance. This is another political war (for us but not for them) and it's why we haven't won it.

Where our 200 billion is going: New Orleans' famed French Quarter cleaned up its bars and clubs on Friday to get ready for business ... Next: bring on the whores but be sure they get government sponsored health care, unemployment insurance, etc.

And this AM
the influential Reynolds joins in the "wait a second before giving these crooks in New Orleans our money." He is just waking up to what I have been blogging for a week. He doesn't link to me because I don't kiss his ass, but you read all the details here more than a week ago. HERE and then there's HERE and HERE which appeared on the 12th and is the one the ever alert Reynolds finally reveals today word for fucking word but credits it to somebody else. Thanx Glenn. Integrity will always win out. If you read it on Instapundit and didn't know it already something is wrong with your information path.

Slight Add: I noticed a sudden surge in my page views about a month and a half ago and that's why I suddenly have over a million page views (thanx again). Maybe it's the Reynolds effect.....

ANYBODY SEEN THE ACLU SETTING UP A FEEDING LINE?

Some white bitch who actually lives in Louisiana says that white people were also rendered homeless and adrift but that the MSM refused to leave New Orleans to report it
I’m sorry if all the reporters are seeing are black faces but if they would take their cameras to places like Slidell, Mandeville, Metairie and CHALMETTE! they would see a several thousand white faces being affected by this. Most of the tip of the boot that is Louisiana south and east of Baton Rouge is under water. Those people are stuck too waiting for help, dying, but all the news people can focus on is the Superdome.
Sort of like the assholes staying in posh hotels in Baghdad, ain't it. She also claims that the cars we see parked after the water receeds might indicate that people with plenty of money didn't leave because they just didn't want to leave. Oh yeah, and there's this one too....
Two of the post-Katrina debit cards worth $2000 each were used to buy $800 Louis Vuitton handbags in New York. Just heard that on FoxNews. The reporterette said that the cards couln’t be used to buy alcohol, tobacco and firearms, but there were no other restrictions. Just remember, folks, that most of the people […]
Site has been linked on Left, Mostly Cajun..... I forget who tipped me to it, I started this post at 4:30AM PDT and then went to sleep. Oh, and there is this one, then I'll stop and make you go there.....
WHAT I HAVE NOT SEEN:

The ACLU setting up a feeding line.

People for the American Way helping in the shelters.

The NAACP doing any work whatsoever.

The American Atheist organization serving meals in the shelters.

Jesse Jackson directing traffic at the gas stations.

I could go on but you get my message. It’s the Christian people and others with love and compassion who do the work.

COME ON DOWN, Y'ALL

Idiot Watch: Mayor Nagin is inviting everyone back to N'Awlins, however,
there is no garbage collection, no cops, no health care services, and no ambulances. And this idiot gets 200 bil.......

More Idiot Watching: Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, along with various Demagogic Democrats (a redundancy) bring in the special interest groups before one dime gets down there.....
We are concerned by Bush Administration initiatives this week waiving wage protections, (high minimum wage that state cannot maintain) environmental safeguards (meaning anything those insane whackos say it means), and protections for veterans, minorities, women, and the disabled. The Gulf Coast region does not deserve to be treated as a laboratory for political opportunism or ideological experimentation. Now is the time for unity. It is a source of sorrow to our nation that so many were left behind as the waters rose. We must now commit that none will be left behind as the waters recede."
Don't worry Nancy and Harry, you will do your level best to add costs to all projects, delay as many projects as possible until your corrupt pals are in line to collect the Fedbucks, and attack anyone who dares arrest a Black person.

Protection for Veterans???
WTF? Oh yeah, you guys who hate the Military are going to make sure they are put in the right places.

Protection for Women? You can bet that Harry and the boys will see that the lap dancers, strippers, and whores (whoopsie, sex workers) are protected round the clock by concerned Democrats. Waitresses will be forced by the Tip Police to reveal all tips to the IRS nightly.

Protection for the Disabled?? Let's see, life jackets for all wheel chairs, seeing eye dolphins for the blind in case there is another flood, and baby sitters for all the low IQs.

This could cost 400 bil before the Democrats are though. Face it, the purpose of all these "protections" is to convince the above groups that they are helpless without the Liberals around to save them, no matter how much it costs. Schultz has a great take, HERE.

NEW ORLEANS POLITICAL CLASS ABOUT TO GET EVEN RICHER

Three building contractors die and end up outside the Pearly Gates at the same time where they find St. Peter inspecting a badly damaged Pearly Gate support. Peter welcomes the contractors and asks each of them to bid on the repair of said support. The first contractor, a Black from Dallas, looks it over carefully and tells Pete that he can repair it for $9,000; the second, an Irish guy from southern Illinois, looks it over and tells Pete that he can repair it for $9,200; the last contractor, a guy from N'Awlins, glances quickly at the damaged portion before sidling over to St. Pete and mumbling that he can repair it for $30,000. Peter is aghast at the bid. "Why is it that those two guys bid right around $9,000 and you bid $30,000?" The N'Awlins contractor pulls St. Peter further aside and whispers, "Ten for you, ten for me, and ten for the nigger to do the work."

And so it will be with our two hundred bil. No more than $65 billion will show up in actual construction, the rest will vanish into the pokets of the totally corrupt Louisiana political class. Huey Long, governor of Louisiana in the 30s as well as Senator from the same state at the same time, made this famous political statement which was repeated by his brother, Earl:
"Don't write anything you can phone. Don't phone anything you can talk. Don't talk anything you can whisper. Don't whisper anything you can smile. Don't smile anything you can nod. Don't nod anything you can wink."
Not that the current N'Awlins road company version of the Three Stooges (Blanco, Landrieu, and Nagin) follows this sage advice, but giving any one of these so much as promise means it will be used to bribe somebody. This is the place where the District Attorney hired a Dead Beat Dad to serve as his office's enforcer of payments by deadbeat dads (guess how many he found?). This, and far far too many tales of derring doo doo by the soon to be filthy rich with our tax money Louisiana political class, can be found HERE, at The American Spectator.

Warning: NOT SAFE FOR WORK

The Well Reviewed Bush speech ---and why not, since it fits the Big Government socialism solution that is so well loved by the MSM---is just Great Society redux, deja vu, and total bullshit. I was mostly bored so I was cutting back and forth between the Utah vs TCU football game and didn't watch every second of it, but I knew what he was going to say anyway. The delivery surprised the shit out of me. The absolute worst speaker to occupy the White House since Coolidge(You heard Cooldge speak, Howard? No, but my grandson did...) hit a line drive home run for style. I did not watch a second of the ABC post speech smear attempt (by far the best link of the attack) so I can't comment. However, it looks like many bloggers are really going after the network for bias (snore, wheeze, dribble---SOS from the same boring bloggers). I still say that people are not going to sit still for the most corrupt city in the third most corrupt state receiving Federal money. This mayor has proved he's not very bright and now we give the asshole $200 bil? And Blanco? Trust me, when the polls start coming in next week and people start to think about it, N'Awlins may not rebuild so fast. And when Blacks start to demand that THEY get all of the rebuilding money or else....???? I mean this is the blackmail opportunity of a lifetime for the likes of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Chicago Trib is also very dubious tonight. MSNBC poll says 54% do not want the parts of the sick city that already flooded rebuilt; AP poll says the same thing. This ain't over til it's over.

If the government’s failure to get help instantly to Katrina victims reflects American racism, why have the images of thousands of poor, displaced blacks triggered the greatest outpouring of charity in American history?
So begins a piece by Heather MacDonald, one of my favorite attack dogs, in City Journal. Well worth your time. As is this short piece in which Heather demonstrates once again that the New York Times not only lies, but deliberately twists data to show police bias against Blacks when the data actually shows the opposite.

9/15/2005

Is it me, or has Ann Coulter lost her bite? Today's piece is strictly for the Junior High paper.....

ROBERT WISE IS DEAD

Robert Wise, a great director and the guy who directed Sound of Music and West Side Story among a ton of others is dead. He was 91. A monster talent, he won his first Oscar for film editing on Citizen Kane and he edited another Orson Wells movie called The Magnificent Ambersons. He directed every kind of movie you can imagine. His credits include: The Body Snatcher, Run Silent Run Deep, Two Flags West, Tribute to a Bad Man, and my favorite of favorites, Curse of the Cat People. He may be best remembered inside the Hollywood elite for what transpired on the editing of Orson Wells' Ambersons, a movie Wells accused Wise of ruining....
After wrapping production on Ambersons in early 1942, Welles traveled to Brazil to work on a film promoting Pan-American relations on behalf of the State Department. Around the same time, RKO screened Ambersons before test audiences, who panned it.

At the request of the panicked studio, which was already losing money on the over-budget Ambersons, Wise reluctantly agreed to cut out 40 minutes of Welles' 132-minute original and reshoot some scenes, including the ending. An infuriated Welles futilely sought to have his cut restored and later remarked: "Ambersons was a much better picture than Kane--if they' just left it as it was."

Sensitive to charges he mutilated a masterpiece, Wise allowed that Welles' original version was better as a "work of art," but said the changes were necessary to keep the audience in their seats because in the days after World War II, no one wanted to see a dark tale about death and dying. The studio had even considered shelving the film altogether.
He will always be remembered for Sound of Music. Always. And that opening shot, the shot of all shots, is pure art and pure Robert Wise. RIP Mr. Wise and thanx for the memories......

In response to several email queries and some comments asking in effect "what blog ad revenue?", I did some checking with pals of mine in hated Madison Avenue; McCann Erickson and BBD&O, my ex brother in law's hang out. The huge increase in "blog ads" and web advertising can be seen chiefly in the company sponsored web pages now up. There are literally millions of them now, up from a few hundred five years ago. Hollywood is particularly involved with interactive websites for virutally every movie. Because pros are now manning the corporate web advertising the writing creates Google links that "guide" the searcher to the corporate site. In addition there are the infamous "swaps" of links within articles (far too many bloggers engage in endless traffic building links too), and what is known as photo linking, a device that automatically switches a person clicking on a picture to a corporate site while not knowing about it. My friends tell me that there is not a blog out there with enough traffic to justify a media buy, other than a ton of porno sites that may, or may not, also link corporately (photo linking anyone?). As an addition, both my pals say they don't believe the web views count at all because none measure what is read on the sites and there is no way to break down the numbers demographically. So there. BTW, I infer from their remarks that corporatations are planting paid links on porno sites because of the huge traffic. My pal at Erickson did say that running simultaneous ads on ten or so blogs with high traffic has been considered but the "click throughs" on tests were lousy.

According to the Biloxi Sun Herald...
Hurricane Katrina's combination of 160 mph sustained winds, a 35-mile-wide eye, a 30-foot or higher tidal surge and a storm track that cut a 300-mile-wide swath over a densely populated area produced a startling statistic Wednesday: More than one-third of the estimated 171,000 dwellings in Mississippi's six coastal counties have been destroyed.
No bullshit, just the facts....

Thanx everyone, just passed my one millionth visitor. Actually passed it few weeks ago but I don't look at the total count that often, currently it's 1,084,617+.

JUST IN CASE you don't link to all the links on Malkin's site you better go here and read up on the phony story about the Feds barring the Red Cross from delivering food to refugees. Home page for the site called WuzzaDem. The guy is sort of an urban legend buster of Katrina bullshit stories and he is doing a hell of a job. Go HERE for his long expose' of a guy who conned Tim Russert with an awful lie about his mom dying in a nursing home while the Feds ignored her. GOOD FUCKING BLOG, and another lesson about the bullshit and lies we get from the MSM. And for some very entertaining reading click on all the pictures----this is a top notch site and he's doing something that is nearly impossible to pull off, he has killer satire and hard news. READ HIM---And this is classic; Bye bye Scrappleface who ain't very funny anyway.....

BUSH KISSED BLACK ASS AND THEY HATE HIM ANYWAY

Pretty long email from E. Schultz who says he's military with lots of disaster experience in both the Phillipines and India. I have excerpted the good parts and made slight editorial corrections in the interests of clarity.

You cannot escape the fact that the Federal organizations didn't have the leadership ready to cope with the situation. A leader has to have the courage to say "forget Posse Comitatus, let's get the job done and done now." You can't let a political governor who has lost her nerve to block you by not "inviting you in" as the law says she must. A true leader simply throws all away and does the job. When I was in the Philippines as an American in an area where we weren't liked because the Communist guerillas ran the countryside (Huks and PKM), I simply loaded up our guys and went in with guns at the ready and started to get people out. I had been taught how to evacuate a population quickly. And by the way, we marched them out because we only had enough trucks for the sick. Many Huks and PKM accused me of having another Bataan Death March. Had I wavered and thought of their sensibilities thousands would have died. The New Orleans victims could have been marched out in a pinch even though racial leadership, both locally and in Congress and the press, would have accused the government of a death march of Black People. You must have the instincts to get the job done. One of the first things I was taught was that the rescue party has to know that when the resident population is scared and thinks they are going to die they will follow any leader who looks like he knows what he is doing. The blame for the attending refugee situation after Katrina has to be placed directly at the top for failing to supply the decisive leadership necessary in any civil disaster. I was ready to kill any communist who challenged me. Period. I believe it was my attitude that prevented them from acting against us because at the time they ruled through armed insurrection. (But) they were as scared as anybody.

Posse Comitatus and DoD restrictions on rescue leadership are hot air. Sure the opposing party will go after you when it's over. I'm sure that there are members of Congress who would have called for the impeachment of the president and the jailing of the Army leadership; the military hating press would have been up in arms. The president is supposed to have the courage of leadership and ignore them. The Commies were all over us after we got everybody out alive, but nobody was interested in listening to them. As a personal observation, I think Bush has appointed too many weak and indecisive people to positions that require tough leadership, leadership with the courage to act in spite of what they think the press and Democrats will say.

He goes on to observe that there were plenty of troops, supplies, and vehicles to get our National Guard and the 82nd Airborne anywhere they were directed to go and plenty of experienced leadership within both groups. Nobody directed them. It is his view that local people are not supposed to be competent leaders of large operations because they are focused on their own local situation and covering their own butts. He says surprise leadership like we saw with New York mayor Guiliani is not normal and that weak leadership like that of Blanco and Nagin are to be expected. Strong Federal organizations must be ready to run right over them and do the job. It is precisely because the locals are weak that the government must be ready to step in; the military must assume incompetence, corruption, and weakness in all local politics everywhere in the world, including here. He points out that Eisenhower put 20,000 troops into Mississippi just to enroll one Black kid in a school in violation of every law we had, but Ike was a leader and nobody dared question him. And he was ready to do it again if necessary. And again. So the integration of Southern schools continued. He also asks rhetorically if Truman was a leader or a weak politician afraid of what the opposition party would say? Then there was this interesting passage.

Five or so months after the operation I received a phone call from somebody in the State Department telling me that I did a hell of a job but I could never be told that in writing because to do so would cause a Political rukus. I wasn't going to get any medals or commendations for my fitness file because I had violated so many local laws and insulted so many local leaders. The guy told me that the phone call would have to suffice and that the President (
Ford) thanked me. I received my promotion to colonel out of the blue a few months later and I always assumed that was my medal.

We've got Bush folks, and he's anything but a decisive leader. And as far as trying to kiss it up with Blacks, just look at what is happening even though they were treated with the utmost care and understanding. They hate white people and nothing will ever change it.

So far, the official toll across five states is at 710, with New Orleans accounting for most of the dead. Those numbers, while horrific, raised the possibility that earlier fears of fatalities reaching 10,000 or more might not prove true.----Washington Post 9/16
No shit, you scumbags. Big disappointment to the Left Media that was looking forward to 10,000 bodies so they could accuse Bush of genocide. Note that since the New Orleans body count is low they now total up all states. Wonder why......

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, Reynolds has an informative series of posts today. The letter from a Mississippian is particularly good. I know that most of you don't go there any more but make an exception today.....

BTW, an interesting comment on one of my posts declaring sickness of continuing support for Katrina "victims" probably missed FOX and Friends this AM where he/she could have seen another Black demanding a handout for everyone. I too am fed up with these freeloading Blacks seeking nothing but more money for doing nothing. I gave to the Salvation Army and Red Cross but "no mas." Sorry, color me angry.

Consumer Alert: Braun Oral-B Be careful when you buy any Braun-Oral B product. The hard plastic packaging is not openable. Went to my mother's house and couldn't open it either, got a couple of teens to try their luck. Finally risked damaging the Oral-B and inflicted multiple stab wounds to the box. Still zero. I finally had a hole big enough so that two pair of pliers could tear the hard plastic enough to open it. We extracted the tooth brush piece by piece.

Honest to God. Make a clerk open it before you leave the store..... Braun-Oral B tooth brush.....

MAJOR HOLE IN OUR SECURITY EASY TO FIX

More Able Danger: If you read this link from Maxed Out Babe you can't help but notice the similarity between this and the failure of government to come to grips with Katrina. The problem is that everybody has to have "authorization" before acting and a legal interpretation to see if acting is OK within the Constitution and the law. We have the Posse Comitatus Law which effectively prohibits DoD from EVER sticking their noses into a local situation in any law enforcement capacity for any and all reasons (weakened lately). So there was leadership castration during Katrina when it was clear that the Federal Government should send in the troops, if only...... But, without local authorization they could not Constutionally do it. So it seems with Able Danger---there was a clear problem of law violation if American Citizens were inadvertantly caught up in a domestic counter intel operation that was part of DoD. The DoD cannot spy on Americans.

What to do? When these narcissistic politicos stop preening before the TV cameras, which could be a week after the 12th of Never, the Patriot Act has to be amended so that under very specific conditions the Feds can enter an AREA designated as a disaster zone without any authorization from local government. Similarly a spy op conducted by the DoD that inadvertantly catches U.S. Citizens or protected Green Cards who are acting to harm the U.S. must somehow be authorized. A quick visit to a judge in such a case can fix it. If a judge decides that the operation violates the Constitution then it gets shut down. Period. But not until a judge rules.

Do you find Pajama Media as pretentious and narcissistic as I do??? I think there is some kind of law at work here that says you work and work until you achieve a position for which you are totally unqualified. None of these guys have that much to say; and they're in it for the money. There is different law for that which says, "the biggest mistake in your life is to do something just for the money" if you do, you will be unhappy forever. Kim duToit lost his investors because some of them didn't like what he had to say on his blog. You can bet that the Pajama Party has sold out before it started just so they could get advertising. There is another rule for that kind of thing that goes "never shit in the money man's hat," or something like that. This "blog" will be like Politically Incorrect, THE most PC show on television.

The difference between a "levee" and dikes (not the minority group), flood control walls, canal walls and storm surge walls? A levee is made by piling dirt to varying heights and ten to twenty feet wide at the base or more; the top is more or less rounded. Levees did not break during Katrina; the levees overflowed. Flood walls etc. are concrete or even steel walls built to whatever specs are desired and are nice and tall, not very wide at the bottom and can break under repeated stress at various places. It was these "walls" that breeched and one was rendered useless by a runaway barge weighing several thousand tons that crashed into it. Levees are an ancient method of controlling floods, long before steel and concrete were available. The old Ancient Egyptian song (2000 B.C.), "Waitin' for the Pharo Ptolemy" mentions levees many times.
..go down on the levee,
I said to the levee,
and we'll join that shufflin' throng.
Hear that music and song.
It's simply great, mate,
waitin' on the levee,
waitin' for our pharo Ptolemy
Egyptian levees on the Nile are still in use today. So what is a dike? They differ in that they are used to restrain sea water from invading established land mass. Historically, a dike is used to divert or restrain flood waters from tidal bodies of water such as the system of dikes which protect the Netherlands. Earth levees can break if subsoil erosion is not corrected. Here is a NYT piece from LSU profs written in 1992 that expanded on the much published Times Picayune piece written in 1977. Many of the "possible" solutions they proposed included insane costs as they acknowleged in the piece. In response to some nasty emails questioning my intelligence regarding industry in New Orleans I suggest you go to the interactive map at the above link. You will find that New Orleans city is like an old world castle isolated by levees from everything else. The oil rigs, refineries, gas fields and port are not a part of the city, but lie much further south and yes there are a lot of good jobs in those areas but there is no indication that the workers live in New Orleans or that any of the towns on the route to the port pay any taxes to the City of New Orleans. Late add: Maxed out has a pretty good overall view of levees vs flood walls: bottom line with her as well is that the levees held and the walls did not.

STUFF WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR

Emailer Neils R
has focused on Snopes (urban legend site) and their time line vs Katrina. Urban Legends has been, for a long time, the leader in exposing vast internet fictions. They are not known for being accurate on short term things like T.O. and the Eagles, the Supreme Court Hearings, etc., but they have an up to date Katrina time line that they say exonerates Blanco, Nagin, and the Mississippi; says that there was no such thing as a Florida/Louisiana phone call on the date claimed and so on.
Claim: New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco refused President Bush's pleas to declare an emergency in Louisiana before Hurricane Katrina struck.

Status: False.
Worth a read. With all the media bullshit it's very hard to come up with anything remotely truthful.

Check out Right Wing News today, lots of good stuff there including the long article about the hired pickets the union hired to picket WalMart and his take on Louie the Farrakhan. And I missed this gem yesterday early.

Bush Administration hiding 8,000 bodies in New Orleans, says Governess Blanco. Developing.....

UN's Kofi Anan, also blaming Bush, threatens that if the reform summit fails, he will blame the U.S. because "They are the host. You cannot be a host and destroy the party." Rosset once again has the goods.
It seems at this stage that no one expects managerial competence or integrity from Annan. It is enough that he presides over a global icon, runs programs disbursing billions worth of other people's money, and performs well at parties. It is perhaps pleasing to Russia, France, and China that last October he denounced as "inconceivable" the idea that their positions in the debate over Saddam's Iraq could have been influenced by Saddam's payoffs (and ensuing opportunities for blackmail).
Claudia, once again, strikes....
The U.N. is the leading global clubhouse legitimizing the dictators whose policies produce the world's worst poverty. (Watch for their motorcades on Fifth Avenue this week).

Good one from George Will....
The idea that Hurricane Katrina would change the only thing that matters -- thinking -- perished even more quickly, at about the time Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, a suitable symbol of congressional narcissism, dramatized the severity of the tragedy by taking a television interviewer on a helicopter flight over her destroyed beach house.
Tip from Don Surber Will is at WaPo and requires registration; his Sac Bee column will probably appear tomorrow is up now.

In case you haven't heard the news about the Salvation Army being barred from the Super Dome (I hadn't) it's getting a variety of coverage on the Web. Huffington's take blames FEMA and Bush, naturally; others blame FEMA, and still more blame Governess Blanco.
1. Louisiana officials turned back both Red Cross and Salvation Army conveys of food and water for people in the Superdome. Before 1,400 firefighters from around the country were allowed to help in New Orleans, the Federal Emergency Management Agency had them sit in a conference room in Atlanta for an eight-hour training session that included — in an act of staggering callousness and stupidity — a sexual harassment class.

2. Red Cross and Salvation Army Barred by Louisiana Officials
For two days now Fox News' Major Garrett has reported on first the Red Cross, and then the Salvation Army, being denied entrance to New Orleans by Louisiana State authorities. According to Garrett and the Red Cross website, officials didn't want the food, water and sanitary supplies to get to the Superdome and Convention Center because it might encourage others to come to those sites rather than evacuate the city. The result of the decision to withhold aid was thousands of New Orleans refugees

3. But they couldn't get in to meet those needs. They asked to get in. They were prepared with their...the Salvation Army has these ever-familiar portable kitchen canteens, is what they call them. They can actually make food, produce food on spot, and distribute it there. People line up. We've seen that at hurricanes and other natural disasters. They were ready. Not allowed in. At first, it was this idea that we don't want to create a magnet at the evacuation site. Secondarily, it became an issue of well, there's lots of water, and we can't assure your safety, so on and so forth. Here's another key point, Hugh. I was very specific with the American Red Cross, president and CEO Marty Evans, and said wait. Tell me clearly. Were you prepared to go in before the levees broke? Before water became an issue of any kind? She said absolutely. Were you denied access before the levees broke? She said we were denied access from minute one....
The Left is blaming Bush FEMA 100%, Global Warming 100% and closing their eyes to anything else. Nobody is ever going to get the truth out. The Left will always insist that the illegal president is at fault and the Right that Mayor Nidel and Governess Blanco are at fault.

There's a great obscenity filled interview that was on FOX last week. It's here at Opinion Journal. $2,000 in a bank account? What's fair is $20,000. Read it.....

OH GOODY! WE GET TO REBUILD THE BARS AND WHORE HOUSES

Hey, here's a great idea. Let's raise taxes so "we" can rebuild New Orleans..... 200 billion ought to do it.

Hate to bring you the news, but as a taxpayer from a different area let me say I don't want to pay one thin dime for the "rebuilding" of the economic and artistic sewer we call New Orleans. What is that place? Whores and their pimps and their houses; endless bars where tourists get stinking drunk, a gambling casino, and high end restaurants. That's it. Oh, and a forty day drunken orgy once a year that attracts alcoholics and pickpockets. New Orleans was tourist places that paid the absolute bottom wage for people who are dirt poor to begin with. Industry left that disaster waiting to happen cesspool ten years ago. There is nothing there other than a guaranteed series of floods forever. And subsistance jobs for the desperately poor.

Right wing types cry for private money to "rebuild" that shit hole. News Flash for the patriot set: private money won't touch the place. I wonder why? Hell it's only twenty feet below sea level and dropping more than an inch per year; there is the 100% chance of another flood, and another one after that far into the millenium. There is no political class worth a dam there other than crooks in prison and crooks waiting to go to prison. And name one insurance company that will write casualty insurance there. Corporate America, unwilling and unable to pay the soaring flood insurance rates, left New Orleans more than a decade ago.

I got it. Let the hundreds of thousands of poor people dance while the jazz bands play, maybe us morons will toss enough coins to them so they can eat for half a day.

Let New Orleans sink into the foul pestulence of chemical toxins, rotting houses, and already rotten politicians. Many of the people who have left are already working at better jobs in other states, as in anything is better than a minimum wage in New Orleans.

New Orleans is dead, has been dead for at least 25 years.. Stick a fork in it.

9/12/2005

Ten thousand New Orleans dead remain in the minds of the media. The New York Times has a feature article in tomorrow's edition that reports
"The areas worst flooded, as our guys are getting in there, they're not finding anything," said Captain Kahn, referring to the bodies that were anticipated. Fears were reinforced when previous rescue workers found swollen dead bodies last week in St. Rita's nursing home here. The home's officials have said that 32 of the 60 residents perished.

Dire warnings, from marine planning sessions, of a devil's brew of toxic floodwater, decomposing bodies, feral swamp creatures and hostile, gun-toting locals have just not materialized.
The Times piece reports that the Marines are more concerned with snipers and looting than in finding bodies that don't exist. Maybe they will find them in Jersey next to Jimmy Hoffa.....

Gradually, as in very, there is some media disagreement about the guilt of the Feds in New Orleans as I said yesterday. Today The American Spectator joins in by way of a piece titled Mass Media Riot......pointing out among other things that the media is using Katrina to undermine Bush, not report the facts.

Michael Yon has another good piece up......

If you missed Louisiana's soon to be ex-Senator, Mary Landrieu on FOX News Sunday yesterday, you missed a performance by one of the most pathetic politicians in the system. Blaming everyone and refusing to take so much as a shred responsibility, she even blamed Bush for the failure to have the city planned buses available. Her incompetence has not gone unnoticed: Demagogic Loser says the (Michigan Post;), IBD did a number on her Friday Investors Business Daily "Nine months before Katrina, three top Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness officials were indicted by a federal grand jury in Shreveport and charged, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana, "with offenses related to the obstruction of an audit of the use of federal funds for flood mitigation opportunities throughout Louisiana." NewsMax does the best overview of her moronic Sunday performance.

New Orleans bounce back? Let's face it, other than getting drunk, getting laid, listening to jazz music, losing your money at gambling casinos, and buying trinkets, what the hell is in New Orleans worth saving. There was so much wrong when New Orleans was "right" that the city is probably toast forever because it should be toast. City Journal has a very good piece up HERE...
The truth is that even on a normal day, New Orleans is a sad city. Sure, tourists think New Orleans is fun: you can drink and hop from strip club to strip club all night on Bourbon Street, and gamble all your money away at Harrah’s. But the city’s decline over the past three decades has left it impoverished and lacking the resources to build its economy from within. New Orleans can’t take care of itself even when it is not 80 percent underwater; what is it going to do now, as waters continue to cripple it, and thousands of looters systematically destroy what Katrina left unscathed?
Nicloe Galinas, the writer, points out that New York, a vibrant powerful city with giants in leadership, still hasn't recovered four years after the lesser disaster of 9/11 and the site is still a hole in the ground. New Orleans with corruption as far as the eye can see and political zeros as a power base looks hopeless. What we saw when all them black folks were stuck in New Orleans was the fact that at least a third of the population is below the poverty line and much of the rest is barely above it. A city of strip clubs, soggy bars, whores and their pimps, plus tourists to fleece is not likely to find the leadership to recover. There's much more, hope you link to it.

Brothers Judd has some good stuff up today. And it looks like there are a few (very few) screamers re-evaluating the Federal response. Like I said in a prior post, every time the MSM starts to pile on somebody I begin to suspect a cover up of what really happened. Then the always reliable Junkyard Dog has great stuff including the Russert trashing of Mayor Nagin; the attempt by the Democratic Party to pocket some change on the disaster; the permenent confiscation of firearms by the "rescuers", ("Second Amendment? We don't need no Second Amendment,")and more.

ROSSET STRIKES AGAIN, and I mean really strikes. She "found" a leaked UN memo on how to deflect the Volker Report.
Volcker’s report comes at a difficult time for the U.N., where other recent scandals have included two Russian U.N. officials — one of them the head of the U.N.’s own budget-oversight committee — indicted in a Manhattan federal court on bribery and money-laundering charges; sex scandals among U.N. peacekeepers in West Africa; financial misconduct by Ukrainian peacekeepers in Lebanon, and assorted other cases of alleged waste, fraud, and larceny, all overseen by a secretary-general who next week plans to host a combination 60th-anniversary party for the U.N. and a reform pow-wow attended by more than 170 heads of state.
Really good and really pathetic.

And Steven Jobs strikes again. Apple stock will go even higher. His famous view of the computer business that you have to have a "killer ap" is clear once again, only it looks like Apple has several of them......
The new ROKR E1 phone from Apple, Motorola and Cingular Wireless is more than worthy of the build-up. A combination of a phone and an iPod, it offers a lot of younger folks the instant ability to consolidate the arsenal of essential portable devices.

For any gadget that seeks to replace a phone to succeed, the first requirement is that it include a good phone. The ROKR passes this test with flying colors. Even if it didn't contain an iPod, the ROKR would be a very nice mobile phone of the brick rather than flip phone variety. It feels solid. Its buttons are large and click firmly upon being pressed. Most noticeably, its display is absolutely gorgeous, which is not the case with all Motorola mobile phones.
As a tri-band phone operating on the GSM standard, the ROKR will work not just in the United States but in much of Europe.
What will happen to Apple when Jobs dies?

JEB BUSH FOR HURRICANE CZAR

The folks in Florida,
who ought to know a thing or two about hurricane preparedness, are blasting Mississippi and Louisiana politicos, police, and other so-called emergency agencies (Be sure you read the link). It is said that all of them were phoning their counterparts in both states about what to do but not only did nobody give a shit, neither state would allow outsiders to help before the storm and only Mississippi willingly allowed Florida help right after it. The two themes underlying all analysis of the disaster are that the one guy who could have rallied everyone together and who totally knows his shit is Jeb Bush, the hated by all Lefties governor of Florida, the president's brother and the guy who has been in charge of Florida's hurricane planning for two years. The second theme is the total breakdown in communications because all they had was cell phones, land lines, and megaphones. Read it, and see who is at fault; then ask yourself why our esteemed leader did not put his brother in charge. Many commentators are reluctantly echoing this. Every local is going to move Heaven and Earth to blame Bush and the Feds, but as is usual with this clueless White House, they don't counter the hits with facts but just lie there like some Uncle Tom and take the kicks in the face. BTW, be sure you check Malkin for the latest on fraudulent hits by the MSM, another thing the White House can't seem to get a handle on. The latest hits are not "spin" but outright fabrications.

So much traffic to the Ranger Jar Head site that it got blown down. Be sure you check it in a few days because it is worth it in every way. I've had it up as a reference link for some time but very few of you clicked to it, and I assume very few clicked to it from other sites either.

A huge, but comprehensive examination of the current MSM smear campaign aginst Bush, the GOP, and the Feds. As usual they are lying, but the lies are the ones the public wants to believe. Newsweek is the worst but the dog pile will continue. Link tip courtesy of Instapundit for many of you who have stopped reading him or in case you've already been there..

Why you need to care about the law suit Louisiana is preparing against the insurance companies in an effort to force them to pay for flood damage for customers who refused to purchase Federal Flood Insurance. If the insurance companies have to pay, they will go broke. I used to sell casualty insurance. I tried to sell flood insurance to every customer I ever had, and every other agent tried to sell Federal flood insurance to every customer they ever had because it meant extra commission. Most of the homeowners refused the coverage, but every agent on the planet told the customers that mudslides, dam breaks, and flood damage was NOT covered. If these Louisiana scumbags, who knew dam well they were not insured for flood damage prevail in a Southern Court, home insurance will become so expensive that nobody will be able to own a home.

This is a big big deal. Pay attention. No insurance company in their right mind would write flood insurance in New Orleans, a city that floods every time a woman cries and is built below sea level. Know this about insurance: the company writing your policy almost never assumes the risk. They pass it on to what are known as re-insurers, huge companies that in turn package the risk into bonds and re-sell them in the bond market. The main reason this works is that all read the policies, know what is covered and not covered, and then assume part of the risk. The entire insurance structure, including the bond markets, will collapse if these fucking free loaders prevail.

HORROR STORY MXXVIII

Marjorie Kay Courtney. Published here....

GUARDSMEN FROM MISSISSIPPI DENIED LEAVE TO FIND AND HELP FAMILIES

The story on Drudge of Mississippi National Guardsment being refused leave to go back to Mississippi has no genisis as a news story. Instead it is a posting on a web page, Here. Smells to me.

It is now posted
(4:47 AM) by the Ft. Worth Star Telegram HERE. This report is based on emails and phone calls from soldiers. True or not, this is today's horror story and the ---- snore, wheeze --- White House has neither confirmed nor denied.

WaPost has a long piece just up. Certainly looks like it's true since named high ranking officers are being quoted. Registration required. Try this one it's a link from Google News. Click on second link "Mississippi troops are refused leave to help families."
Scores of Mississippi National Guard troops in Iraq who lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina have been refused even 15-day leaves to aid their displaced families, told by commanders that there were too few U.S. troops in Iraq to spare them, according to members of the Mississippi Guard.

About 600 members of the Mississippi Guard's 155th Brigade Combat Team, posted south of Baghdad in the area known as the "Triangle of Death" for the frequency of insurgent attacks, live in the parts of southern Mississippi and southeast Louisiana hit hardest by Katrina, Maj. Neil F. Murphy Jr., a spokesman with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, said by e-mail Saturday. The brigade is attached to the Expeditionary Force.

Guard members and relatives said in e-mail or telephone interviews that virtually all the approximately 300 soldiers of 155th Brigade's B and C companies had their homes destroyed or severely damaged in the hurricane.
I assume this will be cause one on the tube all day...... And rightly so. White House statement to follow, in days.....When they wake up; scheduled for eight o'clock next Spring.

These guys already came home

Today is 9/11 in case you forgot, rangerjarhead has lots of these posted. Still pisses me off.....

"Eric Thompson, who worked on the 77th floor of the south tower, went to a conference room window after the first jet hit. He was shocked when a man came to a north tower window and leapt from a few floors above the fire. Thompson looked the man in the face. He saw his tie flapping in the wind. He watched the man's body strike the pavement below. "There was no human resemblance whatsoever," Thompson says." This happens to be a terrific site if you haven't ever been there, take a look.

Vomit report: California is actually likely to grant tax subsidies to motion picture production. These ego centric pricks who make as much as 100mil per picture, actors who get 20mil up front, plus the insane union wage structure taking my earnings so they can continue their profligate ways is the Democrats in action. Democrats control our legislature and the entertainment (movie, music, art) industry wants a subsidy so the Democrats will oblige. What the hell, the big hitters will give most of it back to the party through donations.

OMFG, NEW YORK TIMES NAILS IT

An example of how good the New York Times CAN be is here as John Tierney spreads the blame game from the bottom (our legislative genius class) all the way up to God. Congress appropiated money to the Army Corps of Engineers to build picnic tables, theatres, and a waste water treatment plant in---get ready--the Nevada desert.

Then, in another example of what the MSM could do if they weren't a biased bunch of shitheads, check out this one in the WaPo (requires cumbersome registration but you know how to get around that). WaPo mentions that the el porko $194 million deepening project for the Port of Iberia flunked a Corps cost-benefit analysis, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) tucked language into an emergency Iraq spending bill ordering the agency to redo its calculations---Senate code word for do it or we'll fix it so your career ends in an Iraq Terrorst hostage situation. So guess what??? Unnecessary dredging is covered --- here's hoping sombody dredges up the pork as at least an unindicted co-conspirator.

Little early but an awful lot of reports are indicating Katrina damage far below the wild estimates thrown out by our disaster experts. Deaths in New Orleans will be nowhere near the 10,000 speculated; less than 5,000, and perhaps as low as a few hundred. The property damage, when you consider the entire Katrina swath, is also a lot lower than initial speculation, perhaps as low as $60bil. Grain traffic on the Mississippi is flowing at 100%, oil is flowing at 70%, but the refineries are still not up to max.
AIR Worldwide Corp., a risk-modeling firm based in Boston, has estimated insured losses in a range of $17 billion to $25 billion. Another risk-modeling firm, Eqecat Inc., which is based in Oakland, Calif., has projections of $14 billion to $22 billion.
Now that heads are beginning to clear we will find a lot of opposition to rebuilding New Orleans on tax dollars. It is a disaster forever; sinking by the year it will never be a match for either the Mississippi or the occasional category four. Building other places will give the environwhacks plenty to sue about. And a pal of mine who is a toxin researcher for an oil firm says that because it is nearly impossible to dry out soil in super humid Louisiana, it may be a six months before it is safe to live there. E-coli is like those atomic things with half lives ranging from two days to six months. You can bet the hate America enviros will find the brand new six year variety so they can sue. Suprisingly, toxins have have lives of a few minutes to a couple of days. Lead is a bitch because it can last nearly forever, so look for Greenies to find lead everywhere.

For a PERFECT example of slanting news be sure to go HERE and read Patterico's point by point exposure of a Los Angeles Times propaganda/phony news "story.

BTW: On a much more serious note; after watching some of Pitt losing to Northern Ohio I'm hedging all bets on Notre Dame vs Michigan. Look for blow out city because Notre Dame beat a really shitty team in Pitt. (posted hours and hours before the actual slaughter). I'm hedging by betting the "overs". My original bet was for Notre Dame to cover the 7 points. That money is down the fucking tubes.

The concert: on every conceivable channel droned on and on and on. I don't know what it was supposed to be other than "feel good" shit for the performers. What a downer. Socially Conscious songs, preaching monologues, and just plain darkness is supposed to get us to cough up money I suppose. Well, the networks sure did their share of pissing money away. I couldn't help but think while channel surfing between games and concert that the refugees would have been far better off had everyone, including the networks, just contributed cash instead of preening before America; or more precisely the America without a team in the pennant races or a high school kid not playing football or playing in a band on the traditional Friday Night High School Football game.

The BET had their own telethon and donated $1mil to the relief effort. Missed it. But not worry, MTV kept their spaced out audience out in space.....

My hunch of the night: when all the MSM libs pile on one single person I look for the people who they ignore, assuming they want to cover up whatever sins their darlings may have committed. FEMA? Will we ever find out how fucked up they really were? Have you read anything in the MSM about Governess Blanco or Mayor Blackie? How about the New Orleans police? Oh, I forgot, they are Democrats and the FEMA guy is a Republican. That explains it. Major Garrett (his report still not posted on the worthless FOX Website) has done some top notch reporting and appeared on FOX this afternoon. He is reporting the direct blocking of the city of New Orleans by Blanco's police thugs thus keeping all aid out of the storm ravaged area, and the incompetence of the Mayor as the real main reasons for problems in New Orleans.

But don't forget the envirowhacks beginning but not ending with Save Our Wetlands (SOWL) who fought for years to stop the Army Corps of Engineers from building a lock device that would have stopped almost all flooding from the lake. SOWL as you will see if you link there are total nuts who believe everything bad about Bush and the GOP, allege that 9/11 was a U.S. plot, and other stuff. Professor Bainbridge has more including...get ready to crap...an LA Times piece that actually reveals the extent of the law suits stopping the improvements of levees and locks.

For those of us
who thought we "won" the battle to keep the hate America Left out of the Twin Towers Museum, think again. Not only are they back in force but they are rubbing everyone's nose in their hatred of America by staging a hate fest at Ground Zero this week end. Go here and read up...

AND THIS picture is all over the web, if you haven't seen it...... And it's FEMA's fault. Again. At least that is what the Left will have us believe. From Blindmanphoto and it shows the planning skills of Mayor Nero.

These two guys (captain's Quarters) and Junkyard are all over this, but in case you didn't notice, the shape of the 9/11 memorial is a crescent, the world recognized symbol of Islam. Raise a stink about this one, another sell out to cowardice, terrorism, and CAIR. Don't give them one dime. Late Add: Michelle has much much more. There is nothing that the extreme Left won't try to hijack.

And this is probably what New Orleans is REALLY like; a bunch of guys doing what they do and doing it magnificently .... Link From DuToit. Long letter from a National Guardsman who is actually there....

NFL opener: Totally boring, a string of awful commercials interrupted by some game or other. I'm a fanatic and just can't watch it anymore.

BUSHO MAGNIFICO

For those of us who thought Bush did all he could
, he didn't. He, along with the other "leaders" was also afraid to act. There is a little known law called the Insurrection Act. Here are a few sub-sections that absoultely applied to Governess Blanco's pathetic indeciveness:
332. Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State or Territory by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

333 Interference with State and Federal law

The President, by using the militia or the armed forces, or both, or by any other means, shall take such measures as he considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy, if it—
(1) so hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or
(2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.
In any situation covered by clause (1), the State shall be considered to have denied the equal protection of the laws secured by the Constitution.

334. Proclamation to
disperse

Whenever the President considers it necessary to use the militia or the armed forces under this chapter, he shall, by proclamation, immediately order the insurgents to disperse and retire peaceably to their abodes within a limited time.
Up to you to decide if Bush acted or sat on his ass along with the rest of them. My POV: He and his totally clueless White House Staff was paralyzed, afraid of what the press might say.

Very late add: NYT has a very good (for once) over view of the challenges facing all parts of the Bush Administration. There is a serious flaw in the Patriot Act in that it doesn't spell out any authority for the Feds to take control of a local situation and just move in. But as the Governess wandered around in her Clinton Advisor mode it was clear that Bush needed to take the political risk of basically removing a WOMAN member of a MSM darling political party, and they decided the risk wasn't worth it. I think this means that all of us, in our zeal to lash our political opponents, have made it next to impossible for an Administration of one party to oust a governor or mayor of another party in times of crises. Now, with the Left screaming bloody murder, will Congress be able to upgrade the Patriot Act? Any bets? Oh, and don't forget the race hustlers. Can you imagine the hate filled press conferences if Bush has ousted both the Black Mayor and Black Police Chief? Thinking the entire thing through, I may have behaved like Bush too. It would have been political suicide because the MSM would have taken the side of the "poor woman" and exploited Blacks.

Sometimes, if you don't catch all of FOX News you miss something pretty good, and you can count on FOX to keep anything good off their website. Major Garrett, one of their reporters, broke a story on the Hugh Hewett radio show about the Red Cross and Salvation Army being denied access to New Orleans because Governess Blanco's state Homeland Security people said "we don't want those people hanging around here." The transcript is here.

Blast from the past: to President Bush when he offered to take over the evacuation of New Orleans: "I need 24 hours to think about it..."
-------Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco
Check the Insurrection post above... I say Bush had authority to act and didn't (couldn't).

THE BAD NEWS FROM IRAQ IS THAT THE GOOD NEWS MAY NOT BE SO GOOD AFTER ALL

Things are calming down in Iraq, not necessarily as good a thing as you may think. I wrote here a few times about the Iraqi Army Wolf Brigade and their growing reputation for being brave, tough, and ruthless. I've also warned repeatedly that we may be training the best army of thugs ever unleashed in the Middle East and our trained police may turn out equally ruthless. So try this from a major piece of at American Spectator, hardly a Left Wing hate mag.
What continues to be whispered, and what I have reported here once or twice, is the claim that the Iraqi Army is killing hundreds of the terrorists whom they do arrest. No trials. No niceties. Just a quick shot in the head. I can neither confirm nor refute this persistent report. But, I hear it so often that I do tend to believe something along those lines is happening. The victims of the Army killings (if they are happening) are the former Saddam loyalists who form the core of the terrorist groups.
I, and many others, have stated many times that in an area with at least three thousand years of ruthlessness, nice democratic court systems would be looked upon as weakness to be exploited; that the only way to control terrorists is to terrorize them. It's happening. The piece by John Connly Walsh blasts the shit out of the bad reporting (non reporting) by all concerned....
What is also remarkable about all the talk of Iraqi Army atrocities is that not a soul in the media has reported a word about it. This is the scandal of what passes in Iraq for news gathering and reporting. Since this place is so dangerous, the media quite literally stay hunkered down in the trenches.
He also notes the lack of reporting in Baghdad because all the reporters want to hide out and not get killed. Good piece. Go there. He also points out how the AP has become a propaganda piece for Terrorists......

Then read his prior column about the two guys making a difference over there, and of course since they are doing a great job one of them has been "rotated" back to the states.

9/8/2005

But we already knew that. Didn't we?
Environmentalist activists were responsible for spiking a plan that may have saved New Orleans. Decades ago, the Green Left – pursuing its agenda of valuing wetlands and topographical “diversity” over human life – sued to prevent the Army Corps of Engineers from building floodgates that would have prevented significant flooding that resulted from Hurricane Katrina.
Apparently Sean Hannity had a guy on his radio show that shared similar tales. Front Page has the entire piece which pretty well lays out the Green agenda that had been widely reported at the time. Army engineers wanted to specifically block any possibility of Lake Pontchartrain flowing into New Orleans. There is blame to go around the entire Left, including judges who let the envronuts run wild.

Babe Claudia lays into the Oil for Food report over at NRO. Calling the report "not promising" and apparently whitewashing the esteemed Great Leader, Kofi:
“The Secretary-General — any Secretary-General — has not been chosen for his managerial or his administrative skills, nor has he been provided with a structure conducive to strong executive control and oversight.” In other words, as the preface also states, although the U.N. charter “designates the Secretary-General as Chief Administrative Officer,” the Volcker committee believes his real role has become that of “chief diplomatic and political agent of the United Nations.”

That leaves us with a secretary-general who is apparently excused from competent management, but also failed to alert the world to such vital political matters as Saddam’s attempts to corrupt the U.N.’s own Security Council via Oil-for-Food deals — information obvious from records the U.N. kept secret from the public, but not from Annan.
It's a long article but the first question that came into my mind is the futility of appointing these commissions. This is a Hillary type expose' of criminals already in jail, contaminated medical supplies already destroyed, and other uselessness. Interesting article, but dry as a bone baked by the desert sands.

OK, You were right----Katrina Victims to Get $2K Debit Cards (AP) I think I just turned Norway on giving them any more money

USTA MAKES US WATCH WOMEN'S TENNIS AND MAKES SURE MOST OF US MISSED THE MATCH WE WANTED TO SEE

U.S. Open mens---if you missed it you missed it. Jesus, a great match that the young gun just couldn't pull off. If you tuned in early you had a dreadful women's match featuring oh so slow Lindsay Davenport (and some Russian babe who couldn't serve) that the USTA tried to jam down our throats. The real match was probably the end of Agassi, his last great winning match, but is it the beginning of Blake? I don't know. Blake was younger, quicker, faster, and hit the ball harder. And still lost because.... ??? And of course the tennis ruling class made sure nobody on the East Coast who works for a living saw it since it didn't end til nearly 2:15AM. But we got to see women's (ho ho that's rich) tennis. What shit. If you still think that ever so slow base line playing women are remotely as good as men you have to be a feminazi moron. I say let them play in the dark so nobody can see how fucking bad they are.

One of the more odious consequences of Governess Blanco and Mayor Nagin and their utter failures may be the near repeal of the Posse Comitatus Laws. Everybody better be up for this one: Do we want the military used as a police force with all their deadly capabilities when scumbags like Blanco and Nagin have reared their ugly heads? Do we want Strykers cruising down the streets shooting at looters with their enormous firepower because local Law Enforcement is corrupt? Wake up everyone because this will be proposed. A good overview of both the law and its deterioration over time is here.

Very good (awful) phony Red Cross solicitation in the emails. Go here, Patterico has the goods. Spread the word...... Problem is, Red Cross itself is soliciting by email.

LATEST: O.J. Simpson temporarily set aside his search for the real killer of his wife Nicole and is searching for the "real Disaster Plan" in New Orleans.

Tennis tonight could be a classic. The old champ ---Agassi-- who is way to old to win vs the young gun ---Blake --- who may be too young. The kid has all the tools Andy Roddick doesn't have. Including a total babe for a girl friend. I've been noticing that tennis guys all get dinosaur babes. It couldn't be the money, could it? USA starting at 7 Eastern....but Open Leadership is so dense they might put it on at 4 or even 9.

Late Add: 10 EDT or later is what it is. Total assholes. We on the Left Coast can stay up to watch it only if it's great, most people on the East Coast will have to miss it. Tennis ever catch on? Not while these assholes are responsible for scheduling. See, the PC morons decided that we HAVE to watch a womens match between Lindsay Davenport (is that a typical phony tennis name or not?) and some Russian nobody ever heard of. The way it's going the Men's Match might actually make on by 8 Eastern.

Very late add: it seems that nobody in Louisiana has the authority to declare a mandatory evac. According to the U.S. Consitution it can't be done either, only people with prior warrants can be evicted from their homes. In order to a forceably evacuate an individual, that person must present a clear and present danger to all; examples would be gun fire and shit. Rampant disease isn't enough. So these pricks who decided not to leave are going to cost us more millions. Blanco has refused to issue order. Period.

In still another example of New Orleans incompetence that we all have to pay for, the Chief of Police (they actually have one?) has decided that the absolutely final mandatory evacuaton order will not be enforced. I'm real close to donating nothing more. I have to bite my brain and say that a lot of people need help. And they deserve it. We will be paying the med bills for these slimeballs for months. And that stupid bitch governess cried, actually cried, instead of sending out the National Guard. The big lesson here is that Mayoral Elections are really important; elections for governor ditto. And I keep thinking, "they shot Huey Long didn' they?" but that is bad. Bad boy, Howard. No pussy for two days.

A lot of people are praising TRIBES over at eject eject. My take is that I've heard it all before, told in a much shorter space, and I am totally unmoved by it. The totally obvious told to the perfectly dense. Not an original thought in the entire piece. If you want to go over there and read either what you already know or have already decided is bullshit, be my guest. And is it ever loooooooonnnnggggg. Never say in a hundred words what you can say perfectly well in 5,000.

Poor people are just rich people that God got pissed at......
Take that one Volkoh......

BLUE STATE COMPASSION ON DISPLAY, REPUBLICAN BIGOTRY DITTO

Blue State refusal to help Katrina victims is disgusting. I didn't know about that until I started reading around again. Some of their actions seem to relate to the fact that Louisiana and Mississippi are Red States and deserve nothing. If true, it's really disgusting. In Redder than Red California, their legislature showed their compassion for Katrina victims by passing a gay marriage bill instead. BUT, now sit down: Blue State Massachusetts and their governor Mitt Romney are the exception to the Blue State indifference as they imported 2.500 refugees --- whoopsie, Romney is a piece of shit Republican; something must be wrong. It's Lefties who are compassionate and Republicans the rigid pricks. The MSM will keep reminding you in case you forget.

Getting back to reality: Air America is getting as smelly as New Orleans water. Al Franken himself is deeply involved in the scam. In fact every time he opens his mouth he gets deeper...... Michelle has most of it... Equalizer has more of it.

Everybody's jumping on FEMA for sending a plane to Charleston WVa instead of Carolina. It could have been the pilot you know, after all it is the pilot who decides where to go.

Very bad news over at FOX as it looks like Malone is ready to take it over only to be stopped by the Saudis. The Saudis? Yeah, the Saudi's have a lot of influence over there. A lot, if they want to use it.

Dr. Demarche is back
and has a very interesting piece regarding the Left massing for a blame the U.S. for Katrina assault, it's all caused by Global Warming. He was at a Lefty gathering and observed hearing the Lefty barrage:
This was all being said in a room not two miles from workshops in which the locals burn used tires to fire their kilns and heat their workshops. Ever smelled a burning tire, or seen the smoke those suckers throw off? Of course you haven't- you live in an industrialized society.
Demarche is a working diplomat who writes anonymously on the web.

What pisses me off today? The tons of tax dollars being wasted picking up fucking dogs from New Orleans. Next, I'm still pissed about spending the tax money picking up the morons who refused an evacuation order.

What's pissing a lot of other people off today? The tons of welfare bums from New Orleans swamping their communities. Easy guys, just wait til they start stealing and killing. The New York Times and the rest of the Left will claim it's the (fill in the blank), but you can bet no one will be blaming the criminals who are doing what they have always done.

What SHOULD piss you off the most today? The fact that it was the newly constructed levees that busted in New Orleans, not the old ones. This leads one to suspect corruption in the contracting and building. Another triumph for the Mayor. Junkyard is breaking it as I write. Link there, it's well worth the read.

Why don't I link to charities to aid Katrina victims? I figure if you haven't donated by now you're just a prick and what will you see here to change you? United Way and Salvation Army, plus Red Cross can use some dough.

And if you haven't read this NRO piece you are missing one of the best pieces around. Proof piles up about the responsibility of both the Mayor and the Governess. They had a plan. They didn't have the decisiveness necessary to carry it out. Both knew the plan they had wouldn't save the lives of the poor. The Governess is the real bad actor in all this. She may stand for charges, and that is no shit. BTW, all knew that the Super Dome would not hold up BECAUSE IT FAILED BEFORE. Be sure you read.

Times-Picayune paper knew that the city and state's plan amounted to telling the poor "You're on your own," then turned to fix blame on the federal government when the crisis actually arrived. I have pulled their link down because they are joined with the corruption in the state and are blaming Washington D.C. Just another third rate rag among the other third rate rags.

As the WSJ joins in fixing most blame on New Orleans locals and the Governess you can be sure the rest of the media will turn up the fake heat on Bush. Nothing you haven't read before if you've been here and other blogs but interesting none the less
The actions and inactions of Gov. Blanco and Mayor Nagin are a national disgrace due to their failure to implement the previously established evacuation plans of the state and city
Good but not nearly as good as the aforementioned NRO piece, which is required reading.

9/6/2005

Am I the only one who finds Roger L Simon a hypocritical Hollywood phony? If you want to see the penultimate fraud check out this piece which he stole in total after announcing that as an artist and writer he supports copyright. Pajama media? Pajama brain is more like it.

O'Reilley pretty well sums up the Katrina transgressions here....

The truth is this. Governor Blanco of Louisiana did have a disaster plan in place, did have enough state police and National Guard to secure a city the size of New Orleans, the plan had been rehearsed with the dopey mayor but didn't include the evacuation of the 150,000 people they knew couldn't evacuate by themselves. Blanco did not push for federal help soon enough. President Bush was 24 hours too slow in reacting to the disaster. Why? I don't know. And the head of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, seemed clueless for days. The worst IMHO is that Mayor Nagin was a day and a half late in issuing the evac order and then didn't back it up. Result is that the taxpayers are still paying to "rescue" a bunch of morons who wouldn't leave.

But Front Page has best current piece which lays out the actual "plan" and how it wasn't followed, even vaguely.....
all “Authority to issue evacuations of elements of the population is vested in the Mayor.” The document specifically states, “The person responsible for recognition of hurricane related preparation needs and for the issuance of an evacuation order is the Mayor of the City of New Orleans.”
Later on it points out that
FEMA Director Mike Brown began moving federal resources into New Orleans two days before the storm hit. Currently, some 8,500 active duty troops are serving in New Orleans. The chaotic situation created by Mayor Nagin’s herding people into the Superdome, without adequate provisions for the long haul, with the resultant murder, rape, and looting a byproduct of poor, or non-existent, planning. Governor Blanco also deserves blame for not calling in the National Guard to get the situation in hand earlier.
It is loaded with links, the actual "plan" that neither the esteemed governess Blanco nor the Black and Beautiful Mayor Nagin had the presence of mind to follow. Both of them panicked and lost their nerve. Read it, it's good.

FIRST THE CROOKS, THEN THE LAWYERS

Prediction:
the scumbag lawyers will paralyze reconstruction in New Orleans. First, they will paralyze all construction because of the "toxic ooze", then they will sue over every landmark, then Blacks will sue to get Black contractors all the jobs possible, and finally they will sue both the city and the state for negligence hoping to get their hands on the U.S. tax dollars that will flood the state. Unless Congress acts, and how can they since the Democrats are surrogates for the trial lawyers, this could get even worse.

And Lew Rockwell is beginning to get it too..... The Wetlands (swamp) preservation/restoration excuse for lawsuits are boundless as is the grab for tax dollars.

What pisses me off today? Those fucking shitheads who didn't evacuate costing us about $100,000 per rescue.

Markets: as reports continue to come in that the port of New Orleans could be up and running by Friday, all grain prices are rebounding and oil product prices declining. No way rates will rise either. Congress, which seems unable to do anything, is "talking" about dropping the Federal Gasoline tax and removing the "boutique" gasoline "for a while." My bet: the envirowhacks will never move, they don't care if blue collar people starve. Port of New Orleans is opening as we speak. Barges have sunk in the river and must be removed.

Economy: No question there will be a building boom. But wait til the lawyers file suit after suit to "save" buildings, a process that will paralyze reconstruction and perhaps kill New Orleans. Our elites will piss and moan about the loss of fine restaurants.

Lawyers: will sue everyone and line their pockets. Reconstructioin may not happen as fast as we hope, and don't forget that the Democratic party is a virtual surrogate for the trial lawyers. The sewage and bodies are going to create havoc. Scientists at LSU are testing the "water" and are finding hundreds of times more e-coli than "normal." Stand by on this one.

Crude: down from $71 and change to four cents under $66, at $65.96.

Unleaded gas off twelve cents. Still over $2. The most serious problem is natural gas which is near all time highs. Worse, is heating oil also near all time highs.

Holy Shit! 1400 plus buses were available for evacuation, including transit buses. In othe words there were more than enough to transport 125,000 people out of town in one single run. And of course this is all Bush's fault. Factually this figure would pack buses and the Blacks would have screamed racism, so there would have to have been two trips for many buses. But there were more than enough.

More Evidence of Rampant Racism: Virtually all the rescuers are (gasp)...white. Demands from many on the Left to give Blacks jobs at double minimum wage to kiss babies and drive garbage trucks.

Note: get ready for some real lefty shit because a majority of the "refugees" say they don't want to leave the AstroDome. Not surprising for a group of people not willing to do anything even before the flood. Now they've got what they've always wanted: government food, government housing, and government health care.

And you thought it was satire
: When I said that Congress would investigate Katrina with a 9/11 Commission. As Hillary Clinton calls for a 9/11 Commission Katrina Hearing the only thing that seems inaccurate is that Her Slimeyness is not calling for the commisson to be chaired by Jamie Goreleck. She is calling for New Orleans Mayor Nadal and Louisanna Governor Blanco to chair. Replicans are holding out for FEMA head Brown. Look for a real brawl over this one.

And look for "consumer groups" (code word for communist) to explode with rage over the closing of 128 WalMart Stores. As many as 18 will remain closed cutting off low priced merchandise to the poor. Waaaaa waaa.

9/5/2005

45 years ago this month, James Meredith became the first Black ever admitted to the University of Mississippi. It took the courts, 20,000 U.S. troops, and the National Guard to wedge him in. During the riots that preceeded his admission, 160 marshals were wounded (28 by gunfire) and two bystanders were killed.

Today almost 45 years later, there is only one white who starts for the Ole Miss football team. Times they have been changin'.

Schultz, with far too much time on his hands, links to two editorials in the New York Times of a few weeks ago that attacks ANY FUNDING of the levees around New Orleans..... You have to scroll down to near the bottom.

BLACKS WANT MONEY THEY CAN CONTROL, NOT MONEY FROM THE RED CROSS THAT WHITEY CONTROLS

A cynical supposition unsuported by any facts, but what else are we to believe?
The latest whine-accusation made within a "press conference" held by some of the usual racist suspects: Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif, Elijah Cummings, D-Md.,Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Mich, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill. and others wailed loudly that the term "refugee" was racist and that the response to the flooding was slow because the victims were Black. This comes after the phony charges regarding the National Guard being ordered to open fire on Black people, the phony baloney screaming about captions on pictures (actual facts here), the stupid accusations and statements on TV by moron rapper Kanye West ("I know the government administers AIDS").

I suspect these moronic and incendiary remarks must have a purpose. These people are desperately trying to alienate white people. Get whites to dislike them enough to cut off charitable giving.

So under the "follow the money" rule here is my unfounded supposition: these establishment Blacks see a chance to make big money on this Katrina thing if only...if only they can get the charities out of the game and get the government into it. They cannot control private charity money. They cannot leverage them like they leverage the government. They can't blackmail them the way they extort corporations. The hated white people run the Red Cross, United Way, Salvation Army and so on and they cannot be bullied. What the Black power brokers want is government grants and handouts that go through THEM so they can take their usual vig off the top and pass the rest along to those who beg or those who are their pals. They build up power by controlling the distribution of money.

It's either that, or all these Blacks are as stupid as many have suspected all along.

I don't know. Just my take.

SuperDome horror: seven year old girl raped.....DuToit links to some horror stories being reported around the world BUT NOT HERE, NOT WITH OUR PC MSM....

Assume the water is not safe to drink in Mississippi......

Take a look at this site.
Very interesting but the guy presents some racial stuff in an inappropriate way (I find V-Dare mostly racist shit). Still, he has good stuff and good links to other good stuff.

DEM 145 BUSSES COULD HAVE GOT THE 250,000 REFUGEES OUT OF HARMS WAY IN JUST 17 DAYS

Note: latest bus count, which includes rapid transit buses is: 1,400 plus; plenty to get 125,000 people out in one run.

The school bus myth: I know, 400 145 school busses set aside to evacuate New Orleans residents just sat there and people died. People like Malkin think that all the mayor had to do was call in the 400 145 bus drivers and things could have rolled.

There is a difference between driving kids to school over city streets and driving refugees over hurricane ravaged roads. The training for this type of driving is intense and requires a different license (in most places, maybe Louisiana allows learner's permits for all I know). Can you see the line of scumbag lawyers just waiting to sue over the use of untrained drivers if there was the inevitable accident?

So the busses sat because....

OK. 400 145 school busses seating 50 (school bus limit) means that 20,000 7,250 people out of 250,000 could have been transported to......... Where? Nobody had any place planned ahead of time in which refugees could be taken. Let us suppose that somebody figured that 100 miles to the North might do it. How long would it take to cover the 100 miles through highways clogged with passenger cars headed in the same direction? From what I've seen of the creeping traffic I'd say eight hours would be minimum. OK, so the hundred miles back to New Orleans could be covered in two hours, which means that drivers have been driving for ten hours. Allowing them to drive another ten right away would almost guarantee terrible accidents (and law suits) so there would have to be another 400 145 trained drivers at the ready.

It doesn't take a math genius to figure out that 400 145 busses could transfer 250,000 people 100 miles---a moronic assumption---in 17 plus days of 24 hour per day driving. So that settles that. The best of the forecasters (Loy) had New Orleans as a potential target four days before it hit. The Mayor is such a moron that he bought and set aside the busses in the first place. Late email informs me that there were only 200 buses. So 12 days. WTF. And how cities like Baton Rouge could possibly absorb a quarter million people.....

Later Add:
Sondrak has exact count of busses at 145. So reduce the above figures to 17 days......

NEW ORLEANS STEALS OUR DONATIONS RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR NOSES

You're going to love this one. The totally bankrupt city defiantly announced today that they are offering five-day vacations - and even trips to Las Vegas - to the police, firefighters and city emergency workers and their families; on our fucking dime. Our donations are going straight into the pockets of the politicians of Louisiana.

Reading the "blogosphere" (God how I hate that word) one cannot escape the fact that we "get it" and the MSM does not. All of you who travel though my humble portal read at least ten to fifteen others as well. All of us, tens of thousands of us, know the failure in New Orleans is one of colossal corruption and the inevitable accompanying incompetence that goes with it. The buck passing goes from the Board of Education members who deserted their posts through the Mayor and the governor and rests finally in Senator Landrieu's corrupt purse who, as a patriotic political criminal from Louisiana, has threatened to punch the President in the face if he dares criticize the criminal syndicates that run both the state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans. Everybody must blame the Feds. Must, or they will have to face the music themselves.

And the music they fear facing is a funeral dirge for thousands killed by the criminals who man the helm of that political refuse dump of a state. Criminals can be counted on to steal money, steal money, and pretend they actually do some work. Prostitution is work, ain't it? Keeping those stupid women in line is work, ain't it; it's like pimps have a right to live too. And you don't know what work is until you gun some old bastard down for getting out of line and then have to pay off every asshole in town to keep things quiet.

I think we all get it. Now.

But the MSM is on message, which means attack Bush and blame him at all costs. Why? Well the locals are all Democrats and therefore must be left Liberals. Sure, like the Mafia thugs were patriots during the war, when in fact the Federal government paid off Mafia leaders to keep the ports open and prevent their unions from striking in exchange for carte blanche to the crime syndicates. The current MSM message is even carried by Tim Russert on the oh so influential Meet the Press as was on display yesterday when he lobbed set ups to the political class of Louisiana as if they were actually honest politicians. The MSM hopes to guide us into the canyon of their choosing where they hope to kill all blame for the local pols in Mississippi and Louisiana and shift it to Bush.

Shhh, don’t talk about the worst school system in America. Don’t mention the highest murder rate in the country; the shocking stat that only one out of four people accused of murder is ever prosecuted in New Orleans; the fact that the police department is so corrupt that the Federal government had to take it over a few years ago. And as if to underscore the “stand by your man” ethos of the criminal class the totally bankrupt city defiantly announced today that they are offering five-day vacations - and even trips to Las Vegas - to the police, firefighters and city emergency workers and their families; on our fucking dime. Our donations are going straight into the pockets of the politicians of Louisiana.

Today's a holiday. Have a good one. BTW POWER LINE has a terrific piece today.

SUPPOSE

Suppose.....You were raised in a town principally populated by people connected with the arts: painting, music (both classical and modern), sculpting, selling and showing of art, small business, real estate offices, stock brokerages, insurance offices, doctors, lawyers, skilled labor, good schools, small police force with little to do because the crime rate is very low, and where the biggest problem is the ocean pollution caused by your own system of septic tanks instead of sewers.

Suppose there was a disaster in your artsy fartsy urban paradise; every home destroyed and under water and you were forcibly transplanted with thousands of your societal peers to a refugee center where you were all crammed in together with nothing to do and noplace to go. No money. No jobs. Cut off from everyone. What do you think would happen? Would you turn to crime, rape, murder, and other activities? Or would you begin to paint, write poetry, form little music groups playing hand made instruments and stuff, keep diaries of your experiences and wait for things to sort out? Most likely.

But suppose

You were raised in a town where corruption was a way of life? Where the police are on the take and murder is routinely overlooked; in fact you live in a town in which most murderers get off -- only 1 in 4 are convicted -- it is a place where 42 percent of cases involving serious crimes since 2002 have been dropped by prosecutors; a place where violence is so prevalent that the middle class long ago stopped reporting crimes to the corrupt police and the murder rate was the highest in the country, so high it is called the Murder Capital of the United States; an urban Paradise where you bribe public officials to get what you want, bribe union officials to get jobs, and bribe cops to beat traffic tickets and avoid compliane with other laws. A town loaded with prostitutes and their pimps all of whom pay protection; a town where prostitution and pimping are glorified by song and T-Shirt slogans. A town where rape is a right of passage for young males, and getting drunk is a way of life. In fact, public drunkenness is a lifestyle looked upon with admiration in the nation’s press and your town holds a yearly forty day binge that attracts more than two million drunks each and every year. Suppose this urban paradise also has a public educational system that is one of the worst in the United States? Suppose you live in a town that elects public officials on the basis of race and where new cops must be residents, a code for race based hiring?

Suppose there was a disaster in your criminal urban paradise and you were forcibly transplanted with thousands of your societal peers to a place where you were all crammed in together with nothing to do and noplace to go. No money. No jobs. Plenty to steal. And especially plenty of women to have sex with, whether they wanted to or not.

What would you do? Honestly lay around all day every day writing poetry and painting pictures til somebody handed you something new? Or would you begin to look for opportunities like you had where you came from?

Look for the crime rate in Houston and other refugee cities to soar to heights never before seen.

Houston, you've got a problem.

U.S. Open Tennis: pardon me but I just cannot for the life of me get excited about a sport where the players have first names like Layton, Andy, Taylor, Robin, and Andre.

Fucking "Robin?" Jesus.

USC: No pass rush against a team that didn't have one person who could start for The Trojans. No pass rush exposes corners that might not be all that good. Number One with a question mark. Maybe two.

UCLA: I had this team picked as a sleeping giant. Wrong. Sleeping gnat is more like it. No defense at all against a team that shouldn't have anyone who could start for UCLA but obviously does.

Oklahoma: I've said it before and I say it again: the Big Twelve is not a strong conference. Their championship team has been destroyed in two consecutive bowl games. Destroyed. What does that tell you. And Stoops may not be the coach everyone has thought.

Notre Dame: big big surprise unless they beat up a very bad Pittsburgh team. A distinct possibility. But they have to be watched.

The rest: hard to tell when teams open against girls flag teams. Wait til after next week.

WORRIED ABOUT LOOTING? YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET

FOX is roasting Michael Brown, the supposed head of FEMA. This guy is truly clueless and another horrible Bush appointment. Michael Brown makes Norman Minetta look like an outstanding agency chief. Right Wing fanatic Michelle lays into this slob complete with links. Brown is dodging everything. Bush is praising him, proving once again that he can't fire anybody. Michael Brown should be shot, right after the Mayor, the N.O. chief of so-called police, and anybody else we feel like shooting.

"Ten billion dollars (in Federal Aid) are about to pass into the sticky hands of politicians in the No. 1 and No. 3 most corrupt states in America. Worried about looting? You ain't seen nothing yet." Daily News.....

Just a few of a hundred very good observations posted by people who know their shit:
"There are good reasons why there are NO large scale evacuation plans for any metropolitan are in this country. You simply CANNOT plan that sort of thing. Really, Really bright people have tried, and they keep realizing it DOES NOT WORK."

(Re; evacs by bus) "Drivers cannot go 24 hours straight without substantially degrading passenger safety. Granted, there are times when you have to push a limit. And they already pushed it and then some. But I'll tell you this: If I had a driver on the road 16 hours straight without a break and he had an accident, and someone was killed, I'd probably get relieved of command, along with my first sergeant, and the support platoon leader and support platoon sergeant."

"Thousands of Louisiana residents vow to die before accepting charity from Texas..."

(Referring to the Hurricane Charley warnings in 2004) "Even before the storm hit, the president declared four counties disaster areas to speed federal money to victims. But that quick response fueled suspicion that he is using disaster politics to help his campaign in one of the most critical battleground states, a notion the president dismissed Sunday."
There is a ton more stuff over at Iraq the Model, all of it thought provoking. You may modify your views somewhat after you've read the entire page. In my case I reduced the number of people I want shot and increased the number I want impaled on sticks wrapped with barbed wire. But then I've always been a softy.

Latest on New Orleans preparedness: In a city known for floods, the police department had only three boats. It gets better, only one of them was useable......

Many of the "refugees" are people who had cars, owned homes, but refused to leave. Now we are supposed to feel sorry for them and give them money.

There ARE good N.O. cops. Many have been up for two days helping to resuce people and actually fending off criminal gangs so helicopters could land.

Latest from the Left: Goody goody, Rehnquist is dead. Now we get to assassinate the characters of two Repubican judges at once.

A word or three about United Way.

Lots of us remember the terrible waste of donations after 9/11 as United Way simply gave money to things like orchestras and art museums instead of helping the victims of 9/11. Now that pressure has been applied, expecially by FOX's cowboy, O'Reilley, the United Way has been straightened out and is doing the things they are actually capable of doing, which are gathering small local groups that work one on one with people. Now that the Red Cross has done the big stuff, the refugees need some individual help with emotional stress that natrually occurs when you have lost absolutely everything. Kids who see their parents fall apart fall apart too and in their cases they really need help quickly. The Refugees need employment help and maybe some retraining. The United Way is stationed almost everywhere and you might consider forgiving their past transgressions and donate to another large group that can spread money around to where it is needed. The money you give will be earmarked for Hurricane Relief. Those of you near the swath of Katrina and who want to volunteer, the United Way now has volunteer centers for you HERE. Check them out.

And remember Matthew 6:3. Do not let Glenn Reynolds know you gave anything.....
Give, but don't brag about it.

Maxed out Babe has a good roundup of some stuff like, Hyatt guests getting to the head of the line for evacuation......

Great piece on New Orleans and their history of criminality......
Criminals have ruled New Orleans for some time, convincing many members of the middle class, long before the hurricane, that the city was unlivable. In 1994, New Orleans was the murder capital of America. It had 421 murders that year. Criminologists predicted 300 murders this year, a projection that now looks quite conservative.
And then this one:
New Orleans has one of the highest murder rates in the country. By mid-August of this year, 192 murders had been committed in New Orleans, "nearly 10 times the national average," reported the Associated Press. Gunfire is so common in New Orleans -- and criminals so fierce -- that when university researchers conducted an experiment last year in which they had cops fire 700 blank rounds in a neighborhood on a random afternoon "no one called to report the gunfire," reported AP.
In short, this is a city run by criminals. It coddles and glorifies the criminal culture. Do you really expect a criminal culture to do things like research the number of people too poor to evacuate in case of disaster. Do you expect a bunch of criminals to devise plans to evacuate in case of emergency? Do you expect the criminal government to take Homeland Security money and not stick it in their pockets? Let's close our eyes and rebuilt it.

Congressional committee named to investigate New Orleans disaster. Jamie Gorelick to chair. Has full congressional support. Expected to focus on Iran, Haliburton, and steroid use by New Orleans officials.

ONLY TAX MONEY WANTED

Race baiting to hurt donations? I bet it will.

"When African-Americans were caught stealing in New Orleans, they were called looters. However when whites were caught, they were just feeding their families." A complete lie that nobody can find anyone saying but uttered often enough by the usual suspects becomes "truth." Blacks will say this every day til every Black believes it. A complete researching of this statement can be found here. Fotos taken by different photographers and captioned by differing news services. In one case the white people were observed in chest deep water with others and debris was floating around, the assumption was made that the items were "found." The phototographer who took the picture of the Blacks "looting" actually saw the Blacks looting.

"National Guard ordered to fire on Blacks." Another lie told enough times to become truth.

I will donate again next week when I have some buks but not with the good will I had at the beginning of this week. It's as if every mediocre Black (meaning all of them in politics and media) is spending every waking moment offending as many whites as possible in order to fullfil their own self filfilling race victim philosophy. What this self appointed leadership really seems to want is tax money for themselves so they can administer it, meaning sticking as much in their own pockets as possible and handing the rest out to their pals. They don't want charities they don't control doing anything. A weekend of all this racist shit ought to do it. Nothing quite works like, "Hey, white asshole. Give me some of your racist money." And trust me, it will never be enough for them. Never.

The Left attack, and they are attacking viciously, now includes this one: New Orleans is the result of small government. It is only large government that can change the country, react to large natural disasters, and squash the big business profiteers who caused the Katrina tragedy in the first place. This one is rising too: New Orleans is resting on a chemical land dump that should be condemned and the city should be rebuilt somewhere else, the chemical industry shut down or made to adhere to DNC environmental demands, and if the new city is rebuilt it should become a Federal City like D.C.

That will make us all feel good.

GOOD MAYORS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN GOOD PRESIDENTS

When you get time from the tube, beach, and family get togethers this holiday weekend you might sit down and think for a while about what New Orleans had better teach all of us.

First, it starts at the bottom.

We need good mayors more than we need good presidents. Good mayors are those with the brains to prepare for disaster. Where do you put refugees? How many people are without resources to evacuate and how do you evacuate them? If roads are destroyed? If rail and air infrastructure are destroyed? How bad is the local police department? Are they the most corrupt in region, and if they are can they be relied upon in an emergency? (I think N.O. shows us that they cannot.) How will Homeland Security grants made to assure emergency communication be spent? (The Brain in N.O. spent said money on cell phones instead of battery powered short wave radios). Are there adequate back up supplies available? Does the Mayor have the tools to force people to evacuate, if not why not? Where do they evacuate to?

The most vivid recollection of mayoral competence I have in my mind is the line of ambulances stretching for a mile or more that was parked and ready in New York as the Twin Towers were burning. I thought then that the Mayor or somebody had done a hell of a job of planning. Note that everyone evacuating was directed to the still standing bridges and that busses were also ready.

The blame for most of what went wrong in New Orleans starts with the Mayor, elected because he was black and not because he might be competent. The people of N.O. are as responsible as anyone, but far be it for any PC media or government committee to actually point the finger where it should be pointed. It looks like the finger is pointing in the direction of the nearest white person, the elected governor herself, a Democrat that the Democrat media doesn't want accused. That means blame Bush. He should have done the counting, planned for all local disaster relief, and whatever else can be heaped upon him.

It starts at the bottom. With the Mayor. The race baiting by Blacks is really going to compromise financial donations eventually. Whites are being attacked for helping. The victims are all black? Well I guess that's because the Blacks refused to evacuate when ordered. It is also obvious that the poor in the effected areas are all black. So, this proves racism? It does to the Al Sharpton crowd and let's face it, the Al Sharpton crowd is seeking to get money out of this. Had the hurricane hit the poor areas of Appalachia the victims would have been white, had it hit Chinatown the victims would have been Asian.

JunkyardBlog and lots of other bloggers are shining the light on this lousy mayor and the criminally neglegent local pols.

Paglia's pot of bile boils over onto the floor over at the Independent. The Pag, almost always interesting as well as undisciplined, has nothing to say this time other than blather away before doing a numbing segue to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (credits include Without Evidence (1995) and Playing God (1997) two films that obviously inspired Jolie to spout her vapid opinions over at the UN. I guess the Beverly Hills High graduate (no major) got appointed "Good Will Ambassador to the UN" as another one of Bush's genius moves. Now we're all supposed to be grateful that she took time out from baby shopping in Africa -- or was it Russia --- to vault in front of the first TV camera pointed her way to give us the benefit of her brain power. She is shown at right trying to decide which baby should get her millions or should she force Brad Pitt make the baby his heir.

Heah kum da Race Hustlers----it was a white hurricane dat beat up Black People. Some jerk rapper named Kanye West went off the deep end in a PBS "fund raiser" for Katrina Relief. The stupid bastard said things like
National Guardsmen were given the unfair order to shoot at African-Americans on the streets of New Orleans.

When African-Americans were caught stealing in New Orleans, they were called looters. However when whites were caught, they were just feeding their families.
(Note: Another "Civil Rights Activist" on O'Reilley earlier in the evening said the same thing and O'Reilley defied him to find such a sound bite. The guy just grinned stupidly. ( Actual statements here.)
West then declared "George Bush doesn't care about black people."
One thing that Blacks do better than anybody is Public Suicide by Stupidity. Co-performers Harry Connick Junior, Tim McGraw, and Aaron Neville are not supposed to have done anything but sing. Total Funds raised on this TV Show haven't been announced. The show was supposedly taped by NBC

Late Add: I caught part of the "show" on CNBC as I surfed during halftime of the Utah-Arizona game. NBC should be ashamed. It was a horrible show, more like those pathetic begathons on PBS than anything else. Aaron Neville, one of my all time faves, may have hit melodic senility as he destroyed Amazing Grace like he was an androgynist atheist from outer space. The game was good so I didn't catch Kayne West. I understand he was cut from the West Coast feed. Luckily nobody watched the moron so donations may be only slightly hurt, but the continuing racist rants WILL hurt donations.

Markets Making money off the disaster.....don't even try. Here's my tale when Cherynobel blew. I quickly looked up Kiev in an encyclopedia and discovered that the area was THE pig producing area in the Soviet Union. So I immediately went long live hogs figuring that the Russians would have to buy uncontaminated pork. Smart, but dumb. I never figured that the Commies in the Kremlin would hide the fact that they had radioactive pork from their own people. They did, dumped cancer guaranteed pork on their own people, and I had to bail.

Playing any disaster in order to make money is fraught with unknowns and God will punish you for sure if you try.

A word about the only real stock show on TV: Mad Money with Jim Cramer on CNBC at 3PM Pacific. This guy is the best. He really tells it like it is, especially for the smaller investor. Do not use him as a tout, because investing while ignorant is the worst thing you can do. But he advised last night to use IBD's New America, exactly what I've been telling you for over a year. Only in the new companies with new product and no competition can you hope to make real money. I urge you to watch him every night for a couple of weeks (come on, FOX is a waste of time) and see what it takes to be a pro. He also says that the Wall Street Journal won't make you any money ever, something I've been telling you for a year also.

If you want to invest and make money, use IBD, O'Niel's instructions, O'Niel's books are the only tools you will need to get rich in the stock market. But it takes work, and if you just want to gaze at the tube and let somebody tell you when to buy and when to sell you will lose your ass.

Do not fixate on Katrina, New Orleans, Bush, corruption in the south etc. those things will not make you any money......

IT'S THE MAYOR, STUPID

The lady doth protest too much, methinks---Will Shakespeare---Hamlet

While the jerk mayor of New Orleans screams like a stuck pig one may ask, "What the dickens didst thou doest to prepare the city for disaster?" ---Howard ---Oraculations

The answer to the above query is "nothing." This jerk is screaming real loud to a more than willing media in order to divert attention from his incompetence. He had nothing in place, no evacuation plans, nothing. So while I and others rush to judgement on Bush and the Feds, the first piece of maggot puke is the Mayor himself. The first responsibility of any local leader is to prepare for disaster. He did zippo. The bucks stops for at least an hour or two at the Mayor and his big mouth.

This untreated sewage should have known and planned for the 125,000 residents who could not evacuate due to no car and poverty.

He should have known that the bars on Bourbon Street were still serving drinks as late as an hour before Katrina hit and closed them ten hours before.

This bum should have informed everyone each week of the danger posed by the likelihood of flooding as well as the known weakness of the dikes

This lower than whale shit mayor is criminally liable for all the deaths in New Orleans. This waste product was ELECTED by the dopes in New Orleans who must bear the brunt of the responsibility of his incompetence. This decaying corpse did nothing to end the well known corruption of the New Orleans Police Department and it should be no surprise that their criminality expressed itself in looting.

So the state government was not informed that 125,000 people were too poor to evacuate, and while the governor should have been prodding him, how much prodding is necessary to get the moron to do his job?

This takes no responsibility off the slow Federal response because Homeland Security is supposed to be ready, but how ready could they be with 75% of the National Guard in Iraq? (Stand corrected: by actual count there is 12.5% of the NG in Iraq)

There is blame to go around, but most of it is on the big mouth Mayor, his corrupt police department, and his slugs in New Orleans government.

Late Add: 12:30 PDT, the talk shows are all over this one as I drove home....

This further observation of the corruption in New Orleans courtesy of Schultz
New Orleans has one of the highest murder rates in the country. By mid-August of this year, 192 murders had been committed in New Orleans, "nearly 10 times the national average," reported the Associated Press. Gunfire is so common in New Orleans -- and criminals so fierce -- that when university researchers conducted an experiment last year in which they had cops fire 700 blank rounds in a neighborhood on a random afternoon "no one called to report the gunfire," reported AP. ... Like riotous Los Angeles since the 1960s, New Orleans has been a wasteland of politically correct dysfunction for decades. --
And none are illegals. Are they?????

WHEN YOUR LEFT HAND KNOWS WHAT YOUR RIGHT HAND IS DOING, YOU ARE PHONY

Talk about exploiting Katrina for profit, the blogs are as bad (or worse) as the rest. The disgusting displays over at Reynolds with all these different blogs posting their own pet charities to which Reynold's sychopants are supposed to go to, contribute, and then post (brag about) contributions on another Reynolds pet site, are disgusting examples of "traffic building" by the blogs involved. Fuck you, Reynolds. I join with a ton of other bloggers with conscience, not in this for money, fame, or notoriety to register my deeply felt "fuck you." I also have contempt for the bloggers involved in this phony stunt.

All any of us bloggers need to do is post a charity on our sites and suggest why we think it best. Period. I'm getting a lot of email and a few comments (I've had to shut down because of self serving spam) regarding Reynold's disgusting and self serving charity hustling. Many of the posted "charities" are nothing more than local churches incapable of delivering anything anywhere outside their counties. Pet shelters are also included.

Like I said before, if you didn't donate to the Red Cross (the largest and most effective in huge disasters), the Salvation Army (much less effective doing large scale relief), or one or two others who can't be as effective in these situations as this, WTF are you waiting for? Did I forget to say, "fuck you, Glenn"?

I am assuming all of you who drop by here donated days ago and will continue to support the main efforts, no matter how you feel about Bush, the leadership, or the quality of government leadership. The only hope the victims have is us.......

BTW, for those of you living near the swath of Katrina's wrath who want to donate your time, the most important contribution we can make, go to the FEMA web site and follow the arrows to nowhere. As far as I can see the sites FEMA directs you to have zero volunteer efforts going. Do not go to the moronic site called NVOAD which is supposed to be posting volunteer sites but has absolutely nothing. These government sites are another disgusting example of your tax dollars being pissed away by incompetents appointed by "you know who."

Some blogs are actually collecting money on line and then forwarding it to some charity or other; are you guys out of your minds? Just give, for Christs's sake. Does everything have to have a fucking corporate label? Remember that Pay Pal charges for transfers to blogs and then charities. Stop it. Stop Reynolds before he kills again.

I refer you here to Matthew 6:3.... But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does meaning just give and fuck the tax bennies for doing so....... And don't stand up and brag about it.

Priorities, stupid.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - National Guard troops from Louisiana and other Gulf states will not be pulled out of Iraq ahead of schedule despite the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, the U.S. command said Thursday.
Fuck the USA, straight from Bush.

Chrenkoff has a list of Lefties already blaming Bush and only Bush complete with quotes. The usual suspects ---Boston Globe, KOS, RFK, and the Muslims--- makes for an educational read...... Does anybody believe anything these people write anymore?

View from inside New Orleans....
"At some point, people in charge have got to come to their senses and realize that anarchy has reached the point beyond which order can be restored through civilized means and now must be restored at the point of gun by people willing to pull the trigger."
From MetroBlogger inside New Orleans. Main link is on the left. Does anybody think Bush has the balls to do it? Does anyone in D.C. have the balls? Not while the MSM is already bashing them.

THE SHOE FITS, US

The Associated Press gets it about right:
WASHINGTON (AP) - At every turn, political leaders failed Katrina's victims. They didn't strengthen the levees. They ceded the streets to marauding looters. They left dead bodies to rot or bloat. Thousands suffered or died for lack of water, food and hope. Who's at fault?

There's plenty of blame to go around - the White House, Congress, federal agencies, local governments, police and even residents of the Gulf Coast who refused orders to evacuate. But all the finger-pointing misses the point: Politicians and the people they lead too often ignore danger signs until a crisis hits.

It wasn't a secret that levees built to keep New Orleans from flooding could not withstand a major hurricane, but government leaders never found the money to fully shore up the network of earthen, steel and concrete barriers. (Note: a published study by the Army Corps of Engineers stated clearly that it would take thirty years to build levees strong enough to withstand a category four hurricane)

Both the Bush and Clinton administrations proposed budgets that low-balled the needs. Local politicians grabbed whatever money they could and declared victory. And the public didn't exactly demand tax increases to pay for flood-control and hurricane-protection projects.

Just last year, the Army Corps of Engineers sought $105 million for hurricane and flood programs in New Orleans. The White House slashed the request to about $40 million. Congress finally approved $42.2 million, less than half of the agency's request.

Yet the lawmakers and Bush agreed to a $286.4 billion pork-laden highway bill that included more than 6,000 pet projects for lawmakers. Congress spent money on dust control for Arkansas roads, a warehouse on the Erie Canal and a $231 million bridge to a small, uninhabited Alaskan island.

How could Washington spend $231 million on a bridge to nowhere - and not find $42 million for hurricane and flood projects in New Orleans? It's a matter of power and politics.

Alaska is represented by Republican Rep. Don Young, chairman of the House Transportation Committee, and Republican Sen. Ted Stevens, a senior member of the all-important Senate Appropriations Committee. Louisiana's delegation holds far less sway.

Once the hurricane hit, relief trickled into the Gulf Coast. Even Federal Emergency Management Agency director Michael Brown, whose agency is in charge of disaster response, pronounced the initial results unacceptable.

The hurricane was the first major test of FEMA since it became part of the Homeland Security Department, a massive new bureaucracy that many feared would make the well-respected FEMA another sluggish federal agency.

Looting soon broke out as local police stood by. Some police didn't want to stop people from getting badly needed food and water. Others seemed to be overwhelmed. Thousands of National Guard troops were ordered to the Gulf Coast, but their ranks have been drastically thinned by the war in Iraq.

On top of all this, Katrina is one of the worst natural disasters ever to hit the United States. The best leaders running the most efficient agencies would have been sharply challenged.

"Look at all they've had to deal with," former President Clinton told CNN shortly after joining former President Bush on a fundraising campaign for hurricane relief. "I'm telling you, nobody every thought it would happen like this."

That's not true. Experts had predicted for years that a major hurricane would eventually hit New Orleans, swamping the levees and filling the bowl-shaped city with polluted water. The politicians are doing what they do in time of crisis - shifting the blame.

"The truth will speak for itself," Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., said of potential lapses by government. Later, her office blamed the White House for budget cuts.

If it's not the Republicans' fault, perhaps some in Washington would like to blame New Orleans itself. House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., questioned whether a city that lies below sea level should be rebuilt. "That doesn't make sense to me," he said.

But for anybody living - or dying - in the devastated region, there are far too many villains to name.

"We're out here like pure animals. We don't have help," the Rev. Issac Clark, 68, said outside the New Orleans Convention Center.

Robin Lovin, ethics professor at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, said it's too convenient to blame one branch of government when they are all, at some level, failing people. From Watergate to Clinton's impeachment, governmental institutions have disappointed the public.

"Bush, Congress, the mayor - each of them are symptoms of a bigger problem, that we don't have accountability for disasters or challenges of this scale," Lovin said. "That's all the public wants in trying times - accountability."

Thus, Americans are doing what people do when government lets them down - they're turning to each other. Donations are pouring into charities. Internet sites are being used to find relatives. Residents of far-off states are opening their homes to victims.

The community spirit is reminiscent of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. So is the second-guessing. It will happen again after the next crisis. You've heard the warnings: a cataclysmic California earthquake, another terrorist strike, a flu pandemic, a nuclear plant meltdown, a tsunami, the failure to address mounting U.S. debt - and on and on.

Will the public and its leaders be better prepared next time?
This is before the media spin and the politcal spin. Our entire political class of both parties failed. BUT WHO ELECTED THEM KNOWING THEY WERE LYING MOST OF THE TIME? IT IS WE WHO FAILED OURSELVES.....

Warning:
tell all your friends and family, particularly the old folks, not to donate to any charity calling you on the phone. Any call is a scam. They will say the are The Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, anything in order to get your credit card. By far the worst are the scammers who phone you and then come and pick up a check. Another thing our brilliant leadership isn't telling us......

A last note on the chaos: I have a friend who is not a regular engineer but who did stay at a Holliday Inn last night, tell me that the way to handle the flooding is to dynamite lots of the levee so that the water level in both New Orleans and the lake are the same. He also told me that such a solution would cause anyone who did it his job because the Lefty press would jump all over it. I didn't post it but now that the water levels have been equalized the levees are being repaired.

INEXCUSEABLE

Airdrop the fucking supplies, asshole.....
I finally talked to a friend in Mississippi today. His phone had just been turned on but he and his family are without edible food, no water, no a/c and no lights. I cannot believe that GWB is such a slut that he can't arrange for air drops of water, portable toilets, and those military meals. But he can't. He has no clue. A tale of near total incompetence and improper prioritization. I can't stand to watch the misery on TV any longer, the misery that is increasingly caused by the inept Bush appointees in various places. Air drop the fucking supplies asshole.

Late Add: (45 minutes later) My friend called me on my cell phone to say that his power is now on. I asked about air drops and he started cursing. He said the entire neighborhood (he lives outside of Hattiesburg) would lynch Bush if he showed up because everybody is asking the same thing. Jet fighters are flying around using up gas but no help anywhere. He says the highway 20 is rumored to be open to the east which means food and stuff will be coming up from South Florida (his joke). He is concerned that the food may not get as far south as his home. He is a (no longer) staunch Republican and he isn't going to forget the lack of courage by the military in chickening out over one gunshot, the lack of direction to the military, and the total absence of any National Guard. BTW when the power went on so did his a/c; having that was better than food. There is one gas station pumping gas and that is where he is headed along with a thousand other residents. But food is now the issue. Think, all it would take is for the brain damaged Bush crew to load up a single C-5 Galaxy, which my friend says is the largest transport in the world, one that is capable of handling enough food to feed New Orleans in one load, and just air drop stuff. I looked up the Galaxy and holy shit. But why waste a plane like that saving Americans?

EVEN LATER ADD: My friend says that some food is arriving BUT NO FUCKING WATER, if you can believe it. But at least they can all now boil the bad stuff.

FACING THE TRUTH: Most of the reason for the chaos in New Orleans and elsewhere is happening because the National Guard is in Iraq. We have nobody to protect US. We only have enough to protect Iraqis. I think it's time to say "fuck you, Iraq" and get enough guys home to control things. It is in no way excuseable to have no portable toilets for people, to have no drinking water dropped from the air for people, to rely on the Red Cross to do what the National Guard should be doing. Bush should, and will, bear the responsibility for not acting, for not having the ability to act because of resources stretched too thin, and for his robotic behavior which seems aimed more at photo ops than actual action. Totally absurd to abandon those people at the Dome in New Orleans. I'm a Republican but I'm not a fucking moron. I don't place blame on budget cutting and land development and things that took place over the past few years other than to put the National Guard in places where they don't really belong to fight a war that was not planned for. Depressed at TV News shots? You bet. Angry? You bet even more. This is an inept president. Period.

Next: photographs of Bush flying in a helicopter to Beloxi to place bets at the casinos.

Bookmark this here thingy and use it on a day when you are deliriously too happy and in danger of being thrown into the squirrel pit for the hopelessly giddy. It's Jane Fonda's horrific bio, and I thought I knew how bad she is. Nobody knows how bad she is til you read this long long bio of a hate America Hollywhore....

If you have kept your wallet in your pocket til this weekend so you could join other bloggers in "helping," rest comfortably knowing that your stupid delay has cost lives just so you could pretend that the "blogosphere" is the best place to contibute. I am not a part of that "great community" for the obvious reason that "bloggers" have become pretentious assholes equal to MSM and politicians. If you need directions on where to contribute you are too stupid to live...... Red Cross

Let's Give Cancer Patients Flu Shots

Just how really moronic are we bloggers? Just check the list of really stupid charities being recommended at the increasingly irrelevent Reynolds. If you would donate hurricane relief money to fucking dogs and cats I hope you aren't among those who read my stuff. I have observed before that our contributions should be to the big boys this time because only they have the infrastructure to move large quantities of aid somewhere quickly and more or less efficiently. Donating to the tiny charities is like making sure a person needing expensive treatment for cancer gets a flu shot. The local Red Cross in FL is asking for donations of socks and clean underwear, but remember the locals here are only a few hundred miles from the disaster. There is a large socks and underwear container in a parking lot here that is filling to capacity very fast.

The complete lack of air drops of portable toilets, military food, and just plain transmitters so people can communicate will be the stuff of Bush bashing for six months. It's Iraq, stupid. If it weren't for Iraq (fill in the blank). BTW, Bush is such a far cry from Giuliani in this time of crises as to be absurd. Having his picture taken flying in a plane over New Orleans wasting thousands of gallons of gasoline is insultingly stupid and the sign of a guy who doesn't have a clue. Hour by hour briefing is what we need. Hour by hour phonyness is what we are getting. Rudy baby, where are you?
