After years and years of scanning the employment opportunities ads for the one that will say, "Lay Around and Make Big Money" I finally fell into one and until the Feds walk in and bust us I will be working and not blogging.

MARKETS A lesson on how fucking awful everyone on Wall Street is when handling client money can be observed by looking at a Krispy Kream Doughnut chart. The clearest of sell signals occurred in late June of 02 and you should have hit the road. IBD named KKD one of their Hot 100's back in 2000 and gave a clear buy signal a month or so later. The stock climbed $25 til the sell signal.

Why would a brokerage firm or broker not get you out way back then? Fear. Anybody getting hit at this late date is just out to lunch. Again, IBD is the only place to go for both education and information about stocks.

In general the market is very nervous. This may be because all the political partisans are scared shitless and are cancelling each other out by playing it safe. As I noted here before, people who are for Bush feel he's going to lose and people for Kerry feel Kerry is going to lose. Not a confident market. Don't fuck with it during the week before Labor Day and unless your ducks are ALL in a row be sure you miss the chance to go long or short. There is always a next time. And remember: volume, volume, volume; when there ain't none you got zilch.

Politics I know what you know. The Swiftie's ads have been dynamite and the latest book to attract attention is called Stolen Valor (actually an old book for researchers til now) that details everyone's medals in Vietnam hangs Kerry even further out to dry. Let's be honest here: Kerry is not a coward. He did not run from the sound of the gun, but instead got just near enough to feather his own nest with embellished reports of his own bravery and obviously faked his first Purple Heart. If you've had a chance to see those boring TV ads featuring movie stars for Kerry, you will realize how effective the "truth told well" can be. Keep in mind there is a distinction between truth and fact. I have been in Ohio for a few days and let me tell you people are very disappointed with Kerry; disappointed as opposed to angry. Let's all see how this plays out.

Bye bye and thanks for reading me these past couple of years.

The Rain in Maine can really be a pain....but I have news.....

Bush confessed to War Crimes back in 1972, New York Times set to report in a bombshell Special Edition....The Times will reveal that Bush testified against his fellow National Guard draft dodgers before a secret Senate hearing in July of 1972. In a voice charged with emotion Bush Jr. testified to beastiality, that air national guardsmen routinely twisted citizens into knots, and that they squeezed the testicles of local people. The Times has learned that these acts were committed against U.S. Citizens unlike the acts committed by Kerry which were against a bunch of armed and vicious Communists.

Bush claims he testified to he and his pals screwing a bunch of the local ugly pigs in town, not bestiality; that the townspeople got "bent out of shape" over a few drinking parties held in motels, and that he and his friends busted the balls of the local town officials. The White House also said that the purpose of the hearing was whether or not the Air National Guard should be allowed to install a couple of "high end" whore houses in Alabama for Air National Guard use.

The Kerry campaigning stands by their charges. Looks bad for Bush.....

VACATION TIL AFTER LABOR DAY

Very late add to my comment below regarding the ease with which a determined liar can obtain an undeserved medal: It may well be that heavy research and documentation is required NOW to get a Silver Star, such was not the case in either Korea or Vietnam. In both "wars" the battle fields were confused and shifting, small battles took place all over, and nobody was too interested in checking anything. Admiral Lehman, the guy supporting the Kerry Silver Star, doesn't want to look like a fool, but he signed the documents without knowing jack shit, the stories could have been made up, and could have come from dead guys. Jury is still out.

Ali has a very good piece up right now on Sadr and his "supporters" outside of Najaf. In a nutshell, many are clerics afraid of losing their mantle of holiness if clerics ared deposed, while many more are just unemployable losers. Good piece.

And Allah, the all knowing, has a killer piece up too on women's sports in Mullahville. Sample observation
The Khomeinist version of the hijab, invented in the 1970s and now popular in many countries, including the United States, covers a woman's entire body but allows her face and hands to be exposed. Hijab theoreticians agree on one claim: a woman's hair emanates dangerous rays that could drive men wild with sexual lust and thus undermine social peace.
So that explains shaved pussies, I knew something was driving me wild with lust but I just thought it was my evil nature. Thank God it is all the fault of those evil bitches who are dying to have sex with me. Dangerous rays that that come from women's hair drive me wild with lust covers it. Now what comes from them tits? Dangerous gasses? Call your local Imam.

The NBA has been exposed for the showboating assholes they really are. Driving in for insane "Holy Picture lay ups" for fans and TV have nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with "me me me." That not one professional basketball player can hit an outside shot or intermediate jumper shows everyone what a bunch of semi-talented jerks they all are. Teamwork? Them? Shoot? Shoot? Naw, send Iverson into the middle and then dish to somebody else driving the middle. The NBA (Nothing But Assholes) has been shown up, first by the Larry Brown coached Detroit Pistons, and now by the rest of the world. These clowns couldn't earn money anywhere else but here, which is a good thing. These guys are essentially unemployable low IQ freaks with nothing to offer anyone outside of their clown show.

Michael Ledeen asks: So what ever happened to the Bush doctrine, anyway? And, doctrine or no doctrine, will the Western world really wait until Iran has the atomic bomb before doing anything? Ledeen assumes Bush ever had a doctrine or a plan or a clue about the society we attacked.

It brings back a very unpleasant memory. Back in the mid-Eighties a Lebanese Christian leader stuck his head out of a trench and said "the Western world should either support us, or change its name." It's HERE on NRO if you haven't read it. He quotes my bud, "hammorabi."

On the other hand my favorite writer around, Victor Davis Hanson, has this to say:
one can argue that it's striking that after a mere three years the United States has liberated 50 million and implemented democratic reform in place of what were the two most fascistic governments in the world — all without another 9/11 mass murder.
It's another terrific piece.

MSM is finally reporting the Swiftboat Vets, BUT almost all of them side with Kerry and some call the Vets outright liars. Go to Google News for a ton of references. None that I saw mentioned the Cambodia over Christmas lie and all that I saw simply went over the shooting of the VC without mentioning that Kerry shot him in the back while the (armed?)kid was running away. As I said HERE a guy who knows how to beat the system who is not a career guy can get a medal or two that are not deserved. By any interpretation of "conspicuous bravery" shooting somebody in the back ain't particularly brave (while it can be necessary) and conspicuously brave it just flat ain't. If you "know somebody" high up and if you are an officer who went to the "right" school you can get a silver star, sometimes. How many other guys got a Silver Star for shooting somebody in the back?

In cleaning out my hard drive I stumbled on this 1980s essay, lifted from something or other and sent to me by somebody inside the Army. I saved it for the portions listed below and because it describes the Arab tactics of fighting that we now see in Iraq.
culture does need to be taken into account. Indeed, awareness of prior mistakes should make it possible to assess the role of cultural factors in warfare. John Keegan, the eminent historian of warfare, argues that culture is a prime determinant of the nature of warfare. In contrast to the usual manner of European warfare, which he terms "face to face," Keegan depicts the early Arab armies in the Islamic era as masters of evasion, delay, and indirection. Examining Arab warfare in this century leads to the conclusion that the Arabs remain more successful in insurgent, or political, warfare — what T. E. Lawrence termed "winning wars without battles." Even the much- lauded Egyptian crossing of the Suez in 1973 at its core entailed a masterful deception plan. It may well be that these seemingly permanent attributes result from a culture that engenders subtlety, indirection, and dissimulation (lying--me)in personal relationships. Along these lines, Kenneth Pollock concludes his exhaustive study of Arab military effectiveness by noting that "certain patterns of behavior fostered by the dominant Arab culture were the most important factors contributing to the limited military effectiveness of Arab armies and air forces from 1945 to 1991." These attributes included over-centralization, discouraging initiative, lack of flexibility, manipulation of information, and the discouragement of leadership at the junior officer level. The barrage of criticism leveled at Samuel Huntington's notion of a "clash of civilizations" in no way lessens the vital point he made — that however much the grouping of peoples by religion and culture rather than political or economic divisions offends academics who propound a world defined by class, race, and gender, it is a reality, one not diminished by modern communications...(negating all the current liberal fads)
The essay also spells out why Arab leaders NEED tribal conflicts among the governed.....
First, the well-known lack of trust among Arabs in anyone outside their own families adversely affects offensive operations. In a culture in which almost every sphere of human endeavor, including business and social relationships, is based on a family structure, this basic mistrust of others is particularly costly in the stress of battle. Offensive action, at base, consists of fire and maneuver. The maneuver element must be confident that supporting units or arms are providing covering fire. If there is a lack of trust in that support, getting troops moving forward against dug-in defenders is possible only by officers getting out front and leading, something that has not been a characteristic of Arab leadership. (Exceptions to this pattern are limited to elite units, which throughout the Arab world have the same duty — to protect the regime rather than the country.) • Second, the complex mosaic system of peoples creates additional problems for training, as rulers in the Middle East make use of the sectarian and tribal loyalties to maintain power. The `Alawi minority controls Syria, east bankers control Jordan, Sunnis control Iraq, and Nejdis control Saudi Arabia. This has direct implications for the military, where sectarian considerations affect assignments and promotions. Some minorities (such the Circassians in Jordan or the Druze in Syria) tie their well-being to the ruling elite and perform critical protection roles; others (such as the Shi`a of Iraq) are excluded from the officer corps. In any case, the careful assignment of officers based on sectarian considerations works against assignments based on merit....
Just so you know that building an Iraqi army composed of different tribes and SEXES goes against thousands of years of so-called culture. Just look at the first meeting of the Iraq Assembly this AM with hundreds of screaming morons demanding their turf. There is no concept of democracy there and the so-caloled leadership will do what they can to see that it doesn't happen. A further observation from this essay goes like this:
In any case, the careful assignment of officers based on sectarian considerations works against assignments based on merit
The essay concludes with the following observations: First, the Soviets had a lot of success building Arab armies because both Russian and Arab cultures operate on class, believing that underlings with knowledge are dangerous and 2. because Russian culture is as paranoid as are Arabs always fearful of plots from below.
It would be difficult to exaggerate the cultural gulf separating American and Arab military cultures. In every significant area, American military advisors find students who enthusiastically take in their lessons and then resolutely fail to apply them. The culture they return to — the culture of their own armies in their own countries — defeats the intentions with which they took leave of their American instructors. Arab officers are not concerned about the welfare and safety of their men. The Arab military mind does not encourage initiative on the part of junior officers, or any officers for that matter. Responsibility is avoided and deflected, not sought and assumed. Political paranoia and operational hermeticism, rather than openness and team effort, are the rules of advancement (and survival) in the Arab military establishments. These are not issues of genetics, of course, but matters of historical and political culture.
Don't be surprised if the Iraqi "army" fucks up in Najaf. It is a lead pipe cinch that they will be useless when we leave.

When newspapers lie the lies spread to all pages including the wine pages as this link to Bill Quick will show

MSM continues to black out the Swiftboat story but everyone who drives and listens to talk radio knows all about it, at least here in LA. I don't know how we can escape the conclusion that there is a conspiracy here. How else to explain it?

Wanna see more UN triumphs? Go HERE
Then go HERE What the UN has done is mass refugees into one spot and then abandoned them so that their enemies can come in and slaughter them. The UN is where John Kerry wants to take us. There are more gory pictures there too but none worse than this one with the following "story".
A woman covers the body of a child Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, who was killed during an attack Friday Aug. 13 2004 in a refugee camp in Gatumba, Burundi, which housed Congolese ethnicTutsis. Dozens of attackers raided a U.N. refugee camp in western Burundi, shooting and hacking to death at least 180 people, witnesses and local officials said Saturday. A Burundian Hutu rebel faction claimed responsibility for the attack late Friday near the Congolese border, saying its fighters were in pursuit of Burundian soldiers who fled to the camp from a nearby army position.
Probably not enough bribe money to UN officials to get involved.

Simon has a long post about lying, Kerry, and Bush's religion that is interesting reading but in my view misses the so-called "religion" of Bush. Bush was by all accounts an alcoholic well into his thirties. After his life became a mess (failed businesses and perhaps a failing marriage, together with no purpose) he joined AA and cleaned himself up "one day at a time." Those of us who have either cleaned up or had a family member who needed it and so on know that fighting that gorilla is a bitch. What AA demands is that you own up to the fact that you are an alcoholic and that your LIFE has become unmanageable (Note: your LIFE has become unmanageble). That you are powerless over alcohol. Then you turn to God for help. Within this context you learn that lying is the root symptom, if not the cause. Stop lying and you develop a new set of friends who don't lie, who are generally honest, and run their lives around these principals. You learn that everybody is NOT corrupt, not liars, not cheating on their spouses, and so on. And surprise surprise you are better off telling the truth and helping others. You learn that truth is what really exists; lies are invented.

One of the problems with Twelve Step People (AA, NA and so on) is that they learn to "turn it over"; meaning that you turn things over to God and that things will work out to the better purpose. I think that is Bush's failing as a president. I don't think you can just "turn it over" when you are dealing with Satan. When people are out to destroy you, fighting and turning it over beats just turning it over every time. I think Bush is honest but far too kind to people who fuck up and should be fired, like the shithead who told the NYT about the al Qaeda mole. I say fire the prick and let him turn it over to God.

Truth is often welded to danger, and it most certainly is in this war with Islamofascism. Is it possible to tell the truth, get re-elected, AND win a war deep inside Muslim territory? Bush seems to prefer silence and I think it is costing him dearly both at home and in Iraq. But with politics the supply of truth always exceeds the demand for it. We prefer to have our prejudices confirmed, not challenged. It is a serious failing of a democracy.

At any rate, that is my take.

What do we KNOW about Kerry?
1. We know he lied about being in Cambodia over Christmas 1968, and used this lie to manipulate senators, the public and the press when he was making some political moves.
2, He didn't know who was President in 1968 (he thought it was Nixon).
3, We now know that he shot a VC in the back while the guy running away. He received a Silver Star for this. Or was it a Bronze Star? The citations don't exist and the medal authorization(s) were signed by two Admirals who were nowhere near the action.
4. The Kerry campaign is very confused and is still developing "a storyline."

So why am I not totally pissed? Because I never read or watch MSM. I watch sports, FOX, and read on the web. I watch movies on TV and some of the history shit. I'm not going to ruin my life by staying constantly pissed off. I think that if you choose to read me you are also getting your news from the same unreliable and irresponsible sources and are a menace to life as we know it.

To those of you with no military experience who wonder just "how the fuck does a guy fake medals?" a little enlightenment. Notice all officers, even the women who have been nowhere and done nothing, have six rows of medals. How do they get them? They put in for them. I have 2.5 rows of ribbons. They include several generic battle zone medals, two unit commendation medals, a medal for serving in some fucking hole with 200 guys and only one whorehouse (standing in line for two hours for a piece of ass deserves something besides a dose of the clap and loss of self esteem), and one for staying out of trouble (a clerical error). Guys who want to grease the system go to the head clerk and grease the fucker. It is relatively easy to do a month or so after a battle when people are more glad to be alive than be suspicious. One of my friends who I served with for every minute of my military career starting ion boot camp "proved" a point by getting himself a bronze star for a battle that never took place. Niether of us were career guys, I don't know that he would have dared pull that stunt if he was staying in. It seems that Kerry did a lot of brave shit that everybody else did, no more and no less, but he knew how to play the system for maximum personal gain. That's who he is.

BTW: The biggest moron on TV is on display on NBC Olympics. The stupid bitch was praising the Saudis. Still wondering? Why it's the high rated Katie Couric, the one all women love because.....I guess because they're all stupid too.

LATER BTW:
I had the women's vollyball game between Germany and Cuba on TV early this AM, did a bunch of stuff outside, drove to the market etc. and two hours later I returned to see the fucking game was still on. Wonder why NBC does tape delay?

Hollywood Accounting: If you've ever been around gamblers, and by gamblers I mean the people who really make their money doing it, you will hear the old bromide "never chase your losses." It means that once you have lost a certain amount get up and go to the beach because you can always play a new game tomorrow. I'm reminded of that whenever I see ads for a movie that is hopelessly done. Manchurian Candidate is a horrible loser, grossing less than $50 mil after three weeks, yet the ads continue full bore. Why? Well my bet is that some relative within the Paramount structure is being fed shareholder money. Somebody, or some company, advertising agency, or time buyer, will be allowed to make a killing off of a movie that is toast. This happens all the time in Hollywood and Wall Street, neither of which ever tires of roping in the unwary. An investment house of cards might be rescued by one last mooch. A collapsing movie might suddenly be "turned around" by some miracle.

The difference between gamblers and the Hollywood crowd is that gamblers are always playing with their own money while Hollywood and Wall Street are always getting rich playing with yours.

Negotiations in Najaf mean Bush is Toast-------I will join in the chorus of fuck you let's get the fuck out of there if Saddr is allowed to live. How many Americans have died? How many wounded? How much has this cost? It's about time we imposed OUR way of life upon the Muslims, not risking our soldiers lives having their way being imposed upon us. What is so special about Najaf? It's ten more bullshit Muslim stories The cemetary is the burial ground for hundreds of famous clerics and even Saddam had trouble there. Here is how he handled it:
Before the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran, Najaf was the most important center of study for Shia religious leaders. However, Saddam Hussein ordered mass arrests and the expulsion of senior clerics, giving the Iranian seminary in the city of Qom the opportunity to take over the religious leadership of the Shias.
Khomeini made Najaf his home stomping grounds for 12 years. Saddr wants to becvome the tip top Muslim piece of shit. Saddam kicked everybody out and they all moved to Qom in Iran, which now houses 40,000 pissed off clerics. Qom may now face a challenge over the concept of something called the Velayat-e-Faqih - the God-given authority for a top religious leader to oversee secular in the absence of the Prophet Mohammad and infallible imams (this is who Saddr wants to be). The Najaf school does not interpret the Velayat-e-Faqih as meaning the direct intevention of religion in politics. The Najaf seminary's view of the Velayat-e-Faqih is that of a supervisor and adviser. The Qom school believes the opposite, with Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, officially considered as the highest religious authority of the world's Shias. Qom sees the direct involvement of clerics in state ruling and executive affairs as their legitimate right and moral obligation. This is what Iran is trying to send into Iraq, and Saddr is their guy. Bush has to kill the cocksucker or he loses.

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: News blackout in LA extends only as far as our local paper, the justifiably scorned Los Angeles Times. The Swiftboat story isn't there. This in spite of the fact that it the only topic of talk radio when I'm driving to work these past few mornings. I'd wax hot about this but Captain's Quarters has the best story and links I've seen. Go there if you didn't link from Reynolds. The fact that the London papers are doing a better job than any of ours makes me wonder if Bush has a chance. The liberal attack is nationwide and is done by blackout as much as attack journalism. I'd say if you aren't reading the web, you are misinformed.

Al Qaeda terror intel updated as early as this Spring, according to a White House link printed in the New York Times, the same rag that wrecked the intel sweep by publishing a deep background story from the moronic Bush White House. I think that they agreed to give this one some page time to make up for it. Just bullshit. The intel is solid. Were they going to act?

More Oil for Food, this time in MSM. When the report landed in the United Nations' Iraq sanctions committee, the clearinghouse for all contracts with Iraq, it caused only a few ripples of consternation. There was no action, diplomats said, not even a formal meeting on the allegations.
Since the fall of Mr. Hussein, the oil-for-food program has received far more scrutiny than it ever did during its six years of operation.
So starts the New York Times telling all of us what we have known for at least a year. Naturally they didn't credit Claudia Rosett, the only reporter who wrote on the story for more than a year. Next for The Times: "Russians to build wall between East and West Berlin."

More Swiftboat: many vets are rallying around Kerry
Kerry "always led from the front," Medeiros said. "He was always the first one off (the boat). He was just dedicated, and he wanted to accomplish something."
Good piece from the Oakland Tribune. In essence many of the crew are blasting the Swiftboat expose' as pure politics. The interviewee also clarifies the killing of the "VC teenager" thusly:
On the day of the now-famous incident, Medeiros said the swiftboat, PCF-94, was heading upriver when it ran into an ambush. Rockets were flying out of the jungle, and Kerry "made a decision to put the boats in and get these guys," Medeiros said. Kerry's boat happened to hit the shore right in front of an enemy soldier holding a grenade launcher. The soldier started running, maybe to get enough distance to be able to fire his weapon at the boat, Medeiros said.

Kerry's forward gunner managed to hit the guerrilla, who appeared to be a teenager, according to reports on the incident. Although he was hit in the leg, the guerrilla kept running with his weapon, which could have done serious damage to the boat and the sailors on board. Medeiros remembers Kerry jumping off the boat to give chase.

"I saw him running down this trail after this guy, and I followed him," Medeiros said. "Just as I rounded a corner behind him, (Kerry) shot the guy."
This ain't over by a long shot and we all have to hold judgment til all the info is in. But, this defense of Kerry's actions is damaging to him: You don't get a medal for shooting somebody in the back, and this is what is behind the controversy over this incident.

Revenge News Flash: Jilted boyfriend Paul Clarke took revenge on his ex-lover by posting a video of them having sex on the internet.

Business cards with the website address were handed out at Cara Whitehouse's 21st birthday party by an unknown man and put on the windscreens of all cars at the venue.

Her neighbours and work friends were also sent details.

The Bush stupidity watch Vol 30, Chap 44: Can you believe that it was the White House that leaked the name of of the Al-Qaeda computer hacker. This leak to the super Left New York Times is worse than stupid. This paper actually wants al Qaeda to succeed and this leak has totally blown all our intel, as well as Brit intel, all to hell. We and the Brits were in the act of rounding up the whole Al-Qaeda gang. We had a mole (read my posts on spying) who was helping us. The New York Times tipped it off. What the fuck do these assholes over at the White House expect? The White House AND the New York Times sabotaged a major sting. Again nobody will be fired and Bush stumbles along. It IS Bush's fault.

Market: The rally yesterday had nothing to do with the Fed. A ton of longs on margin got got hit with margin calls last week and finally had to dump on Monday (nobody who knows their shit makes a margin call) sending the market to hell, or almost there. Yesterday, the smart guys who were holding back and not margined up to their asses bought back in. The markeet is still technically weak. Stay the fuck away.

Now that I've come out for Bush I still can't get over how stupid the Republicans are. I thought I'd get an elepant logo and display it. I go to rnc.org and can find zero. These jerkoffs don't get it. They want GOP bloggers who toe the party line only. That ain't me. The entire party has no clue about communicating and I think this is a factor all of us ought to consider as this election gets closer. The Bush White House is horrible and the RNC is every bit as bad. So I guess that my vote is more against Kerry than for the collection of brain dead clowns at the top of the Party.

The GOP decided never to comment on Farenheit 9-11 and it grossed $100 mil. The Democrats decided to attack "Unfit for Command", the authors, the TV stations that dared to air their advertising and guess what? The book is number one on Amazon. And it isn't even out yet. The "chiors" in this country will support anything that confirms their preconceptions. The thing about a book that is different from a movie is that books have always provoked debate while movies rarely do. A script never tells the whole story; a movie is the visual images on the screen. So while the Left won't read the book, the quotes from the book will be all over the media. And the stupid law suits will just sell more books.

For those of you with a shit list, you can contact the bin Ladin assassination team at www.killthefuckers.com or on their 800 number in Islamabad. You have to pay double if you want a Muslim taken care of. There's a two for one deal on all Republicans. Republican women will be killed or raped for free if you have one of their coupons.

The Left PC crowd has a litmus test for the head of the CIA. Either go along with the 9/11 Commisson or no job. This is what has put us where we are today. I am against another layer of bureaucracy as are many in the country. The questions on abortion, gun control, and environmentalism come next.

I have disconnected Site Meter because it was slowing down connection time by a factor of about a minute. Those of you who have similar problems, and most of you do, just get rid of it. Sure makes things faster.

Democracy in any Muslim land will be opposed to the death as it is in parts of Iraq right now. Reason? They look to the West where separation of church and state, freedom of speech, and freedom in general is resulting in an abandonment of Christianity. Any freedom is their enemy. Fuck them.

Amber Fry news: The "massage therapist" job description known everywhere in the USA as hooker is now being depicted as a victim of "seduction" by that oh so clever Mr. Lacy Peterson. What shit. The first date seduction probably went ,"Do you want to fuck in the car or your apartment?" Three kids by two different men and puts out on the first date is standard proceedure for her. Just didn't work out. Two low lifes meet, fuck, and there is a mysterious death. Who gives a fuck? Everybody gives a fuck. I wouldn't fuck that chick unless it was in total darkness so I couln't see her ugly face.

8/10/2004

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: Today is Amber Fry Day. Does anything else matter?

Yes it does. This latest piece on Daniel Pipes website complete with links lays out the Saudi Secret funding of "speakers", college speeches, and others who secretly carry the Saudi torch for money.

Now that we have first hand experience with Iraq's shias does anybody wonder why Saddam kept slaughtering them?

And then there's this: The ever reliable New York Times reports: New Al Qaeda leaders emerging. Of course the rag is eager to trash the War on Terror and Bush. Those of you who read my essay We Have Viral Terrorism aren't surprised. Another piece is here too.

Now Kerry is in favor of the Iraq war, would have voted for it without WMDs.
Bush, whose administration cited the weapons and alleged terrorist links to justify the war, challenged the Democratic presidential nominee on Friday at a campaign rally in Stratham, N.H., to tell voters whether intelligence disclosures since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 would have altered his position on the war. ''My opponent hasn't answered the question of whether, knowing what we know now, he would have supported going into Iraq," Bush said. ''The American people deserve a clear yes-or-no answer."
So Kerry answered, and boy is this cool or what? And from the DNC mouthpiece the New York Times owned Boston Globe.
John F. Kerry for the first time yesterday said he still would have voted to give President Bush the authority to go to war in Iraq, even if he had known in October 2002 that US intelligence was flawed, that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction, and that there was no connection between Saddam Hussein and the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
But then voted not to fund it??? His criticism of no body armor for our troops or bad weapons doesn't make any sense. He was on the intel oversight committee and sat on his ass.

So why vote for him at all? While his war position is one I can clearly support, I'd have to be a Bush hater to respect the guy. It's really a lesson in public reactions when we see the stink being raised over the lie Kerry has been spinning about being in Cambodia when he clearly could not have been. Gardner quoted in this New York Post piece says:
The anti-Kerry veterans say a large sign along the river at the border warned against entry and that a large landing craft was stationed there "to ensure that no one could cross the border."
He could not have been across that blockade and had to know he could not have crossed it without knowing it and by directly disobeying orders. I think people are suddenly finding reasons NOT to vote for Kerry, not just because of the Cambodian tissue of lies but these atop all the others. For some far more damaging quotes go here. It is just too much. Michael Moore, the New York Times, moveon.org, the slime balls from Hollywood, and the many other DNC liars are helping to do Kerry in. It just seems like every Left charge against Bush has been proven false, not by Bush and his communications dunce team, but by events.

Bush didn't lead us into war for oil or any other bogus reason.
He tried to use the UN, France and Germany but failed, mainly because of France's oil interests with Saddam. Just as France is now letting the slaughter in the Sudan take place because they have oil contracts with the Arabs there.
Negotiations were clearly impossible as the EU/Britain vs Iran "talks??" have shown.
Joe Wilson is the liar, not Bush.
Clinton is responsible for North Korea having nukes.
Clarke has proven to be every bit as slimy as the old Clinton gang, seemingly angry only because his recommendations were not followed.
Michael Moore is simply the latest in the long line of cinematic propagandists, and the least talented; Eisenstein, Goebbels, Reifenstahl, together with writers like Brecht, Odetts, and the rest of the commies were far better.
The Media Elite gangbang is backfiring.
Abu Grahaib is proving to be just a bunch of local MPs going over the edge.
The "War on Terror" is clearly going our way.

And on and on. So, where's the meat in the Left campaign? Socialized Medicine, nationalizing the drug companies, abortion on demand, gun control, control of job exportation (without a plan), the creation of ten million jobs (doing what?), combined with snappy Hollywood slogans, bogus concerts, and propaganda movies (Manchurian Candidate) don't cut it. I am now going to both work and vote for Bush. I'll still try to be honest when looking at some of the things Bush has or hasn't done but there is no way I can respect Kerry. No way.

All the latest terrorist arrests are phony! That is the unanimous view of the Democratic Left at one of my work places. The more I talk with liberals the more I realize that nothing will ever change their minds. The "War on Terror" is a fake, the arrests in Albany were entrapment of innocents, and the terrorists in general are an Israili problem. Polarization? Naw.

Sports bitch of the week month is here

Sadr must be given synthesis. Kill him.

Kerry and Combodia. As a guy who was in many places because I just was on board, I guarantee you that nobody ever KNOWS where the fuck they are in the Military. This would be just another zero mistake except Kerry has made both his service and what he did while in Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign. He wasn't a general. He was a fucking Lt. who went "up river" and who knows where he was? How the hell can anyone tell exactly where he was? This should not be a subject of campaign "debate" but Kerry has only himself to blame. And did you catch his snotty wife at the Grand Canyon? It's like she can't stand him.

THE I'M FULL OF IT---Sunday Special----The (gag vomit) Los Angeles Times "says" on the FOX Sunday Show that they printed the fact that the Homeland Security Department told everyone that the terrorist plans data was mostly four years old, but nobody else reported it. I cop to nobody, but the Bush White House is proven once again to have no clue whatsoever regarding communication. Inexcusable AGAIN. HOWEVER a search of the LA Times website reveals no such story anywhere. Maybe it was in Dunesberry.

Of more concern is (are) the arrests of some big time terrorist "masterminds." If the Army War College essay, which I brought to you in more or less plain English, if these essays are accurate these arrests will do next to nothing. If there is central planning and direction these arrests could really damage a major terror network. But most intel people think the self replicating cells will shrug all this off and come back. What may never take place again are these long range plans that take years to develop. Time is not on their side. They must act much faster and that means they are always vulnerable. These arrests really are significant.

Meanwhile down in the lower depths, another word for the DNC, the smear attack on the Swiftboat Vets is about to begin.
The proposed attacks are personal; credit records, divorce records and so on. My bet: this will backfire on Kerry.

Let us now praise COLLATERAL a movie that just flat does it. The bad? First ten minutes are very slow as it shows the boring boring life of the cabbie. A boring life that is ripped apart when hit man Cruise picks that perticular cab and the movie goes off the launch pad for a ride into the LA night and the subconscious. The pre-ending is Hollywood Summer movies. But in between this is crackling stuff. Two characters, a hit man who talks like an art critic and a cabbie (Foxx) who has fantasies instead of dreams, riding through the LA night that Mann paints in ever changing shades using street lights, headlights, and neon signs in every foreign language you can imagine. It's an LA where a dead man can ride a train for six hours before anyone notices he's dead and not sleeping. We experience the cold as ice hit man Cruise taking down his targets while the terrified cabbie has his fantasy life held before him to examine. Their dialogue is right out of Sartre and Kierkegaard; William Falkner and Raymond Chandler when all were at their very best. The questions in this bizarre drive through the night of reality and subconscience revolve around "Who are you, really? I mean who the fuck are you? Why are you on this earth? You didn't get sick when 6,000 people died in Rawanda last year so how can you be upset over one death of one guy you don't even know?" And that is just for starters. This is a must see movie. director/writer Michael Mann and Tom Cruise at the tops of their great games, and Jamie Foxx is simply marvelous. See this movie if you don't see another one this summer. BTW in a typical existential ending the question of "Who are you, really?" is answered. Or is it? Wow. This is talent on display.

BTW there is only one other movie I can recall that deals with the "who are you, really?" in a violence metaphor like this. It's a very old movie you cannot find anywhere called "Hard Contract" (1969) with Lee Remick, James Coburn, and Sterling Hayden which is not available in stores but only for sale on the web. Written and directed by Lee Pogostin it made no money, but again uses a hit man and an innocent (the knockout Lee Remick) to spin a great yarn. Lost its ass because it didn't have the Summer Movie ending. A great rental if you can find it but it is very talky so you have to be into that.

WE HAVE VIRAL TERRORISM -- TAKE A LOOK

Note: This is all three essays published in one spot. for archival purposes. Published because everyone seems to be asking "How do these home grown terrorsts form cells?"

PART ONE: A friend emailed me a rather confidential document that used huge words I had never heard of because they were military jargon. I have attempted a translation that all of us can understand. By the time all parts are on line, you will understand more clearly why we have failed to kill terrorism so far, and what we have to do to eliminate their food. Very Late Add: the original document is now posted by the Army War College. Badly written and filled with complex language.

Here's how terrorism is working today. This is why the FBI and CIA failed to grasp the situation at first, the much maligned Tenant did understand it but by the time he did Congress refused to listen to him. I guarantee everyone that we will all come to realize that he was right, that our government as then structured, and is still structured, cannot stop terrorism cells because we have not understood exactly what they are, and that we are dealing with a headless blob. The terrorist "network" is composed of virus like cells and, like a virus, they just "appear" or emerge (called "emergence") with no seeming reason. They self organize, replicate themselves, get stronger each and every time they come in contact with another individual, split into more and more strains that cannot be slain the way the last cell was slain, and have no center. Bin Laden is no more than a figurehead, Zarkawi can be killed and it will make no difference. There is a way to deal with them but first we have to understand the actual nature of this beast. We have a virus.

Looking at Muslim terrorism through a relatively new lens called the Complexity Theory, a method of investigation and structure discovered in science for the study and elimination of viruses, passed through to business, and now being used by the U.S. Military, it is possible to see how this new terrorism "self-organizes" without organizing, gets stronger, stays strong , and changes (adapts) when attacked. Eliminating one or two cells has all the effect of popping a zit on the face of a teenager. Pop one and two more appear the next morning.

The five fundamental elements of self-organizing networks are adaptation, correlation (connected by complimentary relationship), coupling, aggregation (collecting new members from a similar cell) and self reproduction. As each agent is added the group gets stronger and will further evolve. Each agent within the group will change too because of the nature of this self organized blob and other self organized blobs.

In science we see that all viral strains are "self organized". They just "emerge" seemingly from nothing. Their elements of self-organization enable a complex network of viral cells (or terrorist cells) to spontaneously seek opportunities to spread and adapt in the face of adversity to form more virulent strains. Adaptation is spontaneous. Terror cells behave like viruses so that innovation emerges from the people within the cell rather than a single directing intelligence.

Hierarchical organizations (our government, military, business, and us) can never be as resilient as complex networks, because the power of complex networks resides not within its leadership or a few capabilities, but within its ability to spontaneously adapt to changes in the surrounding environment. We can see this on display right now in Iraq. We have seen it in the attacks on the USS Cole and the Twin Towers. We now defend our ships so no ships are attacked. We now defend our tall buildings so no tall buildings have been attacked, yet.

The first step in the formation of a Terror Cell is called emergence. How did an ordinary friendship between Muhammad Atta and two other foreign students in Hamburg in the mid to later 90's result in the terrorist cells that pulled off 9/11? Although neither they nor the mosque they attended were known for extremist views, these students were nonetheless drawn together by their increasing disenchantment with the West in general and the US in particular. They met with other U.S. hating Muslim men in an ever-widening circle of acquaintances, which eventually led them to a German-Syrian named Muhammad Heydar Zammer (another virus floating around) who was active in Islamic extremist groups since 1980; this addition made them stronger. About this same time, the terrorists Ramzi Yousef and the Abu Saif group were planning to place timed explosives on passenger airliners bound for the US and use airliners as weapons to fly into the World Trade Center and the CIA headquarters. Yousef discussed his ideas with his uncle Khalid Shaihk Muhammad who was associated with al Qaeda. The ideas and concepts for a massive attack on the US using airliners were now emerging among various terrorist groups, and Muhammad Atif, a key associate of Osama bin Laden, studied the idea and discussed it with bin Laden. Note that the so-called mastermind did not think it up. Thinking the concept had merit, they communicated the idea (gleaned from others) and provided various resource contacts to several other associates around the globe including Khalid Shaihk Mohammad. About the same time in 1997, through a wide web of acquaintances, Mohammed met with Atta and Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called 20th hijacker. Coupled with Muhammad and armed with this new idea and some financial and technical contacts, Atta and his associates emerged from a small group of disenchanted university students into a terrorist cell. In total, the plot expanded to include three cells of 19 hijackers with members originating from seven different countries. All but two of the hijackers had no previous associations with religious extremism or terrorist organizations. Tenet lamented that 17 of the 19 plotters were "absolutely clean" and all of us have trashed him without the understanding of "how it works." The 9/11 terrorist cell was not created or directed by a central node or hierarchical apparatus. Instead, the entities within the network were coupled together by loose informal associations forming "mutually dependant" interrelationships with an ever-widening group of like-minded Muslims. Simply stated, the 9/11 cells emerged from the bottom-up.

This is how these cells come into being. They simply emerge from a cesspool of mosques, colleges, and chance meetings. They meet with others and sometimes their similar hates unite them into a common purpose. They will find help from other cells and others will join. Each step of the way each cell becomes stronger as a result of contact or addition of others. Stress, failures, being attacked all cause changes within a cell (adaptability like a virus adapts to drugs) which also add strength They are not directed by a leadership. Their interrelationships create novel behavior, meaning group "A" will not behave like any other group and other groups will also be novel. The addition of each person also supplies additional energy (a dynamic) so that their purpose becomes more obsessive and focused. In other words 9/11 terrorists cells "emerged" from what seems like nothing into the terror cells of 9/11 from a bunch of guys from different places who thought alike and had the same goals. This is key. There was no central organization. It was "self organized" and was resilient. George Tenant realized this early on but nobody in Congress wants to listen to him because they are wedded to an outdated principal, that of the hierarchal structure like a pyramid, a nation state, an American business. Our government is now about to add to an ineffectual heirarchy by appointing a single intel Czar. Congress is posturing and fighting the last five wars as usual. So are you and I without knowing it.

Part Two: In part one I established that current terror groups are both independent and interdependent depending on when it suits them; that they seemingly emerge from "nothing"; that they gather strength from contact with other cells and individuals, and they adapt. This does not mean that every terrorist cell is doing the same thing. It simply means that when a cell needs some help it will find it somewhere among the other cells. This is why we call it a "terror network", and at times it certainly can be one.

The State Department reported that al Qaeda has coupled with at least twenty-eight other Islamic terrorist organizations centered in more than a dozen different countries forming a global aggregation of Islamic anti-American terrorism. Al Qaeda has long been established with terrorist groups worldwide including the Philippine based Abu Sayyaf, the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, and the Indonesian Laskar Jihad. We in the USA see only the pyramid structure of al Qaeda as a possibility. Within these cells of the network the interrelationships between these groups constantly change. There is not now and never has been a leader.

While Tenant was routinely blasted by press, the 9-11 Commission, and politicians in general for his views, they are views shared by almost all intelligence services around the world. As one French intelligence analyst lamented, "if you have a good knowledge of the network today, it is not operational tomorrow". Another terrorist expert described the network as "a constantly changing virus that is impossible to totally grasp or destroy." A previous associate of bin Laden observed that al Qaeda was not as well organized or orchestrated as some would believe, but rather bin Laden directly controlled only a very small group around him, and outside of that were "tens of thousands who are sympathetic and arranged themselves in small groups in a very loose network." He further observed that these small groups and other terrorist organizations "didn't belong to him [bin Laden] like in a pyramidal type of structure." In other words even the bin Laden inner circle has told us how they work but our politicians and press don't want to believe it. Our government continues to "fight" the war using the hierarchal structure that has proven ineffective for the task.

Knocking out a single cell means nothing. Knocking out ten means nothing. If a drug kills a thousand virus cells in your body today we know there will be ten thousand more tomorrow morning that will be resistant to the drug that killed the thousand. Do you seriously think that the FBI will be able to pull another sting operation against a mosque as they did in Albany, New York? No chance. They have already adapted. That drug won't work a second time.

The elements of self-organization are also apparent in al Qaeda's financial apparatus. The Council on Foreign Relations report on terrorist financing concluded that al Qaeda is built upon layers of redundant, diverse and constantly changing financial sources that are incredibly difficult to identify and defeat. Money to support bin Laden's terrorist strategy comes from legitimate corporations, individual donations, charitable organizations, profit making terrorist front corporations and criminal enterprises to name but a few sources. Many individuals and corporations donate funds to Muslim charities unaware that funds are illicitly siphoned to support terrorist activities. Terrorist cells and agents are encouraged to seek financial independence and cultivate autonomous forms of income. Al Qaeda's sources of income spans the spectrum from tightly coupled al Qaeda front corporations to loosely coupled individual donors.

The elements of self-organization are probably most easily seen in the 9/11 plot. When the need preference of the Hamburg students intersected those of Bin Laden and other terrorist groups the process of aggregation (getting people from other cells) began. The need for resources and training coupled the hijackers to Khalid Shaihk Mohammad, which facilitated the aggregation process by enabling relationships with al Qaeda. The coupling with al Qaeda facilitated further meta- aggregation with various functional capabilities including financial, technical and training capabilities. These interdependencies exhibited a variety of tight, moderate and loose coupling. The agents within the Hamburg cell exhibited a high degree of tight coupling, as evidenced by the detailed planning and close coordination required to execute the highjackings. Emphasizing the close synchronization of the 9/11 attacks, George Tenet concluded this terrorist attack was unique in the high degree of professional and detailed coordination. The 9/11 attackers were only moderately coupled with bin Laden and al Qaeda. Although al Qaeda provided technical and logistical support, neither bin Laden nor his close associates directly controlled the operation from Afghanistan. Many within bin Laden's closest circle of associates were never made aware of the plot. The hijacker's innovation and adaptation in overcoming many challenges suggest they operated with a large degree of independence and were only moderately coupled with bin Laden. The hijacker's interaction with financial and training support demonstrated loose coupling. The sources of this support could and did change as required without consequence to the hijackers. The loose coupling ensured multi-way chains to complete their tasks. Although highly dependent on this support, the hijackers were not dependent on a single source. The cell was not directed by supporting agents or al Qaeda's leaders but rather enabled by them. Following the attacks of September 11, al Qaeda's capability was significantly degraded by attacks from the United States and its allies. However, Complexity Theory informs us that complex networks are resilient and will survive attacks on its constituent parts. And it not only survived but became stronger, changed appearances as well as tactics.

There is a seemingly endless supply of angry Muslims willing to become a part of a cell and go on the attack. All are motivated by the usual: U.S. get out of Saudi Arabia (now done), U.S. get out of Iraq, hatred of the Jews, hatred of the West and Western values, etc., etc. etc. The list of Muslim resentment at their "plight" can fill a book. The political structures of their countries add fuel to this fire since all are dictatorships of one kind or another.

Terrorist cells become weakest when they concentrate or mass as they have done in Iraq where U.S. forces slaughter hundreds each week. Once concentrated they run out of their food, meaning they can no longer reproduce themselves. They just get fatter as more and more young and untrained Muslims run to join them. The situation when viewed from the eyes of young Muslims is one of hopelessness for their futures as they watch the weekly slaughter continue. When operating in cells they still can drive a car loaded with explosives into a crowds, plant a roadside bomb, or send a kid with a backpack full of dynamite into a hotel.

Part Three: So far we have analogized terror cells with viral cells to explain the "emergence", gathering together individuals and people from other cells to make them stronger, the "networking" that helps hide them and make them fit, and how they can split into several cells for attack. All without leadership from outside the cell. We have seen that plans developed by one cell become the improved plans of other cells until one or three of them actually "does it."

So how can we win? People are not viruses. We think, we react, we are sorry or angry at losses. The "food" that continually fuels the "emergence" of cells are the millions of angry Muslim males ready to die. The Arab honor/shame dialectic and the two thousand year old tradition of the power/challenge dialectic (SAME LINKS) makes it nearly impossible to eliminate the ancient ways of gaining power. The term "dialectic" assumes that somewhere along the line of conflict a "synthesis" will happen (peace for a few minutes) and then the dialectic (struggle) will start all over again. The talk of "solution" which always revolves around removing the "causes" like Israeli-Palestinian peace, poverty, alternative choices for young men, democracy and blah blah blah, are ideas that just don't work over there.

We must not confuse terrorist cells with armed insurrections where "terrorists" mass into large groups. That is where we can kill them as we killed more than 300 in Sadr City and Najaf over the past few days. We can handle them by killing them in central locations. They gather so they can die with honor like Muslim men rather than live in the shame of (fill in the blanks). As this is written Saddr is currently employing a dialectic by attacking and then whining for peace and then attacking again replaying the millenniums old power-challenge dialectic. The solution to his imposed dialectic is to kill him. That is synthesis. Then you kill the next one. Finally they will get the picture. The Israelis have employed the tactic of killing every Hamas leader as he shows his head. The overall strategy is to cause inter power block warfare among Palestinians who in turn may tire of their own terrorism turned upon them. It appears to work, but keep in mind these are not cells but armies of insurgents massed together.

But what about the cells? Is it possible to weaken them by taking out the influential people in mosques, caves, and big city slums the world over? That is our strategy right now, but it is the nature of these things that leaders reproduce. Are we faced with active terror cells forever? Will they ever run out of martyrs? We can make it so dangerous that "living the life" becomes almost certain death advertised widely so that only the most obsessive and violent want to join. Short of change in the very guts of the Muslim religion I think that they will continue to plan and grow. Iran is more than willing to export all forms of terror as is Syria and many other regimes in the area. The elimination of these regimes can help, but only if replaced by representative governments. That work.

At least the analysis of cells and networks using the Complexity Theory brings it into a better focus and understanding for us. Knowing how they suddenly "emerge" from a group of friends joined in a feeling of hate, propagate, and launch attacks can help us all. Eventually they may have no more tools to use. I doubt that they can ever again use an airplane to attack. Until we find a way to find hidden explosives inside trucks and cars this tool will be used. I understand that the Israelis have a device that can spot roadside bombs so that this tactic may become obsolete. Once the implements of mass terror are removed the cells may become an anachronism. I think it is all we can hope for. Late Add: The arrests of big time terrorist "leaders" together will all their long term plans will have the effect of eliminating those long developing plans. Since they will have to be more secretive and have to act quicker on any plans they may have we have to assume that a major blow has been struck.

Kerry style diplomacy fails. Again. Twice. The New York Times does its level best to blame Bush for the EU led "diplomatic effort" to disarm Iran. (If you don't get rid of those awful atomic bombs the civilized world will just hate you) So while the oil criminals of Eurabia sit shaking in their boots it is now up to us fucking cowboys to "do something" unilaterally. I swear to God if our country was not at risk I'd be for letting Iran atomize the whole continent. Anyway the Leftist slant is at the above link. And instead of "blaming" Clinton for the situation they NYT interviews Clinton experts for advice to sit on our asses again...
But other experts, including former Clinton administration officials, caution (don't hurt me) that while covert efforts have been tried in the past, both the Iranian and North Korean programs are increasingly self-sufficient, largely thanks to the aid they received from the network built by Abdul Qadeer Khan, the former leader of the Pakistani bomb program. "It's a much harder thing to accomplish today," said one senior American intelligence official, "than it would have been in the 90's." (And whose fault is that? The New York Timers will never talk.)
Then it's the UN in full flower in the Sudan, so while Kerry style diplomacy is in the main show ring the slaughter continues. And don't think these thugs don't know about our election campaign. With Kerry shaking in his boots before adoring crowds of gutless wonders they know Bush won't dare do anything. Who gives a shit if tens of thousands are slaughtered, the U.S. isn't threatened so there we sit.

I submit that the U.S. is threatened. Threatened by the amorality of doing nothing while millions are starved by Mugabe and tens of thousands are slaughtered in the Sudan. This attitude becomes our morality. God put us on this earth to mind our own business (make money, get high, get laid) and only help people when the world's thugs say it is OK. If they don't say it's OK then they hate us. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights make us the most dangerous nation ever put on this earth. The very existence of those documents makes us "cowboys". Cowboys of the conscience of the world. Once we abandon our mission we will die. Many think the decay is altready happening and cannot be reversed. If so, get out your burkas girls, you won't have to worry about abortion any more. And all you "men" out there can throw away your razors 'cause beards will be mandatory.

It IS our business. It's who we are.

Election Factors: sometimes we forget the simple stuff. You know, like keep your eye on the ball, be in shape to play, and don't forget volume and trend in the markets. Nobody seems to be paying attention to the investor class and the Religious so-called Right, two huge voting blocks. I think it is safe to say that people who are religious will go for Bush (4,000,000 did not vote in 2000) but how will the investor class go? If they see Kerry as a threat to markets by raising the dividend tax, corporate taxes that will diminish dividends, or anti-business policies this class could go for Bush in self defense. Homosexual marriage, gun ownership rights, and all code words for same will rally the troops to the GOP. Abortion is suddenly a non-issue as women focus on things that actually impact their lives right now and in the future. Look for code words on these issues because Bush MUST hold the above classes in order to win. The GOP wins without black support, the NAACP has made it OK for the GOP to ignore them, and the GOP can safely ignore them. Both candidates are more than willing to risk our national security in order to pander to the Mexican vote so this is a wash. Keep your eyes on the simple stuff, it is where the election will be won or lost.

The Swiftboat guys are under attack by the Left Boston Globe (owned by the NYT) and sent out this letter to all TV stations:. WARNING: This link to the actual affidavit is in that fucking PDF and makes me wonder if they want all that many peoople to read it.
The Kerry Campaign has continued its effort to prevent our voice from being heard. You were presented with an article from Kerry's hometown newspaper, The Boston Globe, written by Michael Kranish, Kerry's biographer, claiming that Captain Elliott had withdrawn his affidavit and disavowed the ad. This is totally false.

Enclosed is Captain Elliott's affidavit executed this morning after the false Globe story. Captain Elliott affirms his original affidavit; affirms his ad statement; and adds additional detail. In the ad, Captain Elliott says that Kerry was not honest about his service in Vietnam. This is indisputably true.

The use of a surprise false article to strike pending ads represents a new low in ambush journalism.
Go HERE for Bill Quick's POV which sums up my outrage that a paid writer for The Kerry campaign is also paid by the Globe to "report" on same. And go HERE for a pretty thorough discussion ( Link via Simon). However, the new affidavit backs off a teeny weenie bit from my too quick scanning preconception of what the ad says. The contention that Kerry shot a fleeing VC teenager in the back. Elliot never saw the incident and relies solely on the battlefield description which says Kerry and others were firing on an armed and fleeing VC. The Goddam thing is filed in PDF so it is impossible to copy and publish. Go HERE for Daily Pundit "outing" the Kerry remark that had he been Bush when reading to the kids he'd have immediately rose and told the kids "The President of the United States has something to do. In reality he sat on his ass in stunned silence for 45 minutes along with the rest of the Senators before they all fled the building.

Markets and Economy
EEEEEKKKKKK!!!!!!!

While I thought the jobs numbers would be lower than expectations, I didn't expect this. I said earlier in the week that I thought the market would drop because in the data I use ( trend and volume) this market was clearly pointing down, not a climate where I would invest no matter what. It's my experience that when a market is weak nothing can stop the fall and anything can trigger it. Conversely when the market is strong nothing can derail it

Is it as simple as that? Yes. You must never ignore the major indexes and the volume there. Down on high volume, horrible; down on light volume encouraging. Same for the way up: up on light volume is not very good and on high volume it's dam good.

You can blame this on both Putin and the pessimism about the election. It is very strange. Most of the people I know who are for Bush think Kerry is going to win while most of those for Kerry think Bush will win. This means that everyone expects the worst, something not measured in polls. Only in conversations.

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: Laci Peterson committed suicide....
Kobe Bryant tongue prints found on victim's vagina.....
FBI arrests Richard Jewell in Lori Hacking murder.....

The Viet Nam vets hit piece is very tough and we won't know the inside of that one for a few days. You can bet the Left Wing press will be all over it. Very suspicious that these "Vets" could come up with the scratch to put out that very sophisticated ad. The Left will (rightly) look for the source bankrolled it. If it was the GOP, watch out. A vicious ad that won't swing a single vote as it stand right now, but could backfire and destroy the president. Just like the moveon.org Hitler shit backfired on the Democrats. UNLESS charges like murdering a loin cloth clad teen are true. Then it is "holy shit." This atomic ad and book will either sink Bush or Kerry. People like Hannity and Limbaugh will not let this one vanish. We all had to know that the Michael Moore crockumentary would not go unanswered. The difference now is that the DNC is threatening everyone who runs the ad and these threats raise an interesting question: why? The Limbaugh take is worth reading a must read
John O'Neill is part of the group. He's been out there for a number of years trying to tell the other side of the Kerry story, but if this situation were reversed, you know damn well the New York Times would have found these guys on their own, if they were trying to discredit Bush, and there would be heroic profiles of them all over the newspaper for weeks. But what are we going to get now? Are we going to get the New York Times trashing these heroes in this ad? Are we going to get the mainstream, pro-Kerry media trashing the guys in this ad? You know, it's one thing for the media and the left to go after the so-called "chicken hawks."
The Swiftboat website is HERE and goes into some detail. This deserves demands our attention.

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: The terror arrests in New York at a mosque is a new development which only means that no more terrorist activity will be planned or carried out within mosques in the U.S. (see next post). They will simply meet and plan somewhere else.

EVERYONE at work is now talking NFL. Nobody is talking politics. Computers were accessing NFL sked instead of porn. It's that time of year. John who?

Moveon.org AKA George Soros and his $15bil is responsible for launching the Springsteen agit-prop tour. Never in my lifetime have we seen this. You'd have to go back to the 1930s depression to see the so-called arts politicized to the same extent. Kerry is now being trashed mercilessly by the appearance of the Tommy Franks book (supposedly really good) and the TV ad by the Viet Nam Vets. I don't think there was a time in my drug filled youth when I ever thought my pop idols knew jack shit about politics. I just screwed to their music. I doubt if times have changed. "I'm voting for Kerry because Bruce told me to," just doesn't reverb with me. Neither does "Kerry the Chickenshit." I think our task is to filter out the bullshit and focus on the issues. Whatever they are????. We knew the Bush is Hitler ads would breed response and now it's happening.

Oil prices came down slightly. Keep in mind that while the Saudis are adding only 2% to their production that in the supply/demand equation 2% is huge. The Financial Times does its usual shoddy job this AM. As I've said many times, that paper is simply the mouth organ for Brit financial interests. Believe nothing you read there without checking it out.

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: Can't blog til this PM but if you haven't read this piece from PIPES, it's a must read.....

So is this from Kim duToit. Eliot Spitzer, the AG of New York, is a menace to free speech, freedom, and is dangerous as hell. Just because your pet pit bull nails a burglar doesn't mean you should let it roam the street unleashed. Kim more or less lets all of us know what the guy is up to, including threatening the Republicans over what they say at their convention. A scary guy.

Terror Alert: another example of the pathetic Administration Communication skills(?). Without a clue without even an idea of what to say. Were it not for the times there is no way Bush would have a chance. God, what slugs.

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: Many of you may not know that a large source of Kerry money is coming from the Iranian mullah connection. These connections have been exposed before but now one of the main publishers of the info is being sued by a Kerry surrogate in an attempt to shut the website down. Go here for details. The Democrats cuddling up with those Iranian scumbags is a serious matter and could result in the deaths of even more innocents there while Kerry gets close to the French and Germans. The stench is eye watering.

THE REALLY IMPORTANT NEWS? Here in LA nobody is talking about anything other than the Dodgers getting rid of their best players in the middle of a pennant race while they are 22 of 29 and leading the league by 3 games. People with Ph.Ds in molecular biology are using 8th grade cuss words. This is like the Red Sox getting rid of Ruth because the owner was strapped for cash. The new owner here is not only in debt, but defaulting on same. His purchase of the Dodgers was heavily leveraged with loans. He is at least two months in default (to the tune of $460, 000) on a piece of property in South Boston. Kerry and Bush are off everyone's radar screen. Unemployment? Fuck that, who cares? Terror attacks? Fundamentalist Christians are willing to join al Qaeda if a terrorst plot against the Dodger owner is in the works. A salary dump to bail out another mega-millionaire ain't sitting well with anybody. One of the best defensive catchers and best hitting catchers in the league is gone and to be replaced by some janitor who will work for $8 per hour plus tips. People are totally pissed and this could damage one of the best franchises in sports. At least USC still as a football team here and their players are too dumb to graduate. These are the important things in life, so how bad can anything be.

An emailer has provided me with some of the most interesting research results into terrorism I've ever seen. Very hard to understand and I'm working on it, the reason for light posting today and perhaps tomorrow. I've read it a few times, filled with huge words but I think many will think much more highly of Tenet in five years than we do now. The answer to the question: how did a chance meeting between two Muslim students in Hamburg result in the 9/11 attack?, is very interesting and supplies an answer to what we face.

ONCE AGAIN BUSH APPOINTEES SCREW UP

Headline says terror info is old, story tells a different tale. Washington Post gets deeper and flat says the info is three years old
Intelligence officials said that the remarkably detailed information about the surveillance -- which included logs of pedestrian traffic and notes on the types of explosives that might work best against each target -- was evaluated in light of general intelligence reports received this summer indicating that al Qaeda hopes to strike a U.S. target before the November presidential elections.

Several officials also said that much of the information compiled by terrorist operatives about the buildings in Washington, New York and Newark was obtained through the Internet or other "open sources" available to the general public, including some floor plans.
I was suspicious yesterday, another example of the "Bush Team" totally fucking up, best case, or pulling an election stunt worst case.

MOVIES: I am currently working in an office with as diverse a crew as you can imagine, other than no dummies. Their movie reviews are as follows: 1. "The Village" "I thought I'd kill myself during the first hour before it got really good." 2. "Bourne etc." an on the cheap directing effort; close ups of noses, then lips, then head, then fists, interrupted once in a while by chases; OK. 3. "Manchurian Candidate"---nobody saw it and nobody is planning on going, they heard it was shit. 4. "I Robot"---just OK, most heard it wasn't worth the $8. Nobody is seeing anything else, more confirmation that the top movies are doing well and everything else is losing money. The Hollywood reports of rising grosses in a rising ticket price environment is the usual bullshit parotted by their supine media slugs needing star interviews to keep their useless jobs. Check the costs plus marketing and you see that one bad movie can kill the grosses of two others.

Friday's jobs numbers may cause market to fall. Why? The "anal-yists," tired of being wrong, have predicted a rise in new jobs by 230,000; a huge number. 175,000 is more like it but lots of these guys just have to be on the bandwagon. Fuel prices are hurting growth but manufacturing is going gangbusters with 14 straight months of growth, the longest reported growth since the early 70s (bad news for Kerry???).

Notes on a Zig Zag paper: I just can't buy the story that one guy carried all the secret plans on one computer. This is more than likely a plant designed to see what our responses are.

The story about puppet movie ridiculing the War on Terror also seems like the typical Hollywood Publicity stunt. The so-called creators are hardly Hollywood Left.

Iran making it easier for sex change operations explains the Democrats cozying up with the "liberal" mullahs in that kleptocracy. Nothing more liberal than sexual discovery.

THE BATTLE LINES BECOME DISTINCT

The election will be a final battle which will determine if the old elites will regain their power. Lined up against the GOP and Bush are: all the unions, all the entertainment mega millions and power, all the newspapers and TV networks other than FOX, all of academia, teachers, blacks, and the Left business elites on Park Avenue and Beverly Hills.

The news media is a potent force, a force than can determine what the public may see as issues by where they place their stories or what stories they run at all. The New York Times and LA Times blacking out trousergate as one example. The Hollywood Left makes DNC movies like the Manchurian Candidate (a box office loser) that hide the message within a story. They make TV shows which more and more contain Bush Bashing within their dialogue. And the money. The money.

This election is truly a battle between what people on the Right consider the "old tired Left" and the "New Conservatism." The old tired Left is composed of philosophical socialists and communists who are determined to "level the playing field" by taxing the rich out of all money earned over a certain pre-determined figure (to be actually determined after they win) and nearly exempting all others from paying tax at all. The Conservatives want to allow markets to determine winners and losers and by definition there are always more relative losers than winners. The winners are always resented by most of the losers, so by inference if you can rally the country's losers you can win an election. Nothing can calm the endless rage of a burning envy; keep them hating and you can win. I once played in Julius Caesar and I've always remembered the line,
"Such men as he be never at heart's ease while they behold a greater (man) than themselves, and therefore are they very dangerous."
Old Shakespeare had them spotted, knowing that once rallied into a mob the envious have heads but no brains and are easily led. The French Revolution with the attendant Terror and Guillotine can attest to that.

Edwards is very able to make life's losers feel there is no way to become a winner. The task facing Kerry/Edwards in this regard is to convince a majority that there is no hope for success, that the deck has been stacked against them by the successful in a game they are required by citizenship to play, a tactic he used in court to make hundreds of millions of dollars. He will proclaim to the less successful that they are pre-ordained to forever to play a losing hand against a bunch of crooks out to steal their money. These victims are required by circumstance to furnish their labor to the winners in exchange for the lowest possible wage, sure in the knowledge that they will be rewarded with not so much as a single moment in the sunshine of success for their entire lives. No nice clothes, no nice cars, no homes, no health care, only a forever in shitty apartments living paycheck to paycheck, their kids in horrible schools, with not so much as the right to a doctor. The solution to their bleak future is to somehow get money from the rich. Government can do that through taxation and entitlement programs. No need for the losers to feel guilty because they are entitled to the money stolen from them by the successful people. The Democrats will boil the pot of voter discontent til the scum within gathers to the top so they can harvest the votes necessary to win an election. He and Kerry will quietly spread the doctrine that democracy guarantees the equality of conditions, not equality of opportunity. Blacks, many Hispanics, all the Indians, handicapped, gay and lesbian, plus feminists will unite as usual under this sacred banner of the professional loser, the only question being how much company they will have.

Bush's task is to rally the troops to patriotism; that life offers plenty of opportunity for success for everyone willing to work for it. That we have the greatest country on the face of the earth with the only Constitution guaranteeing them the absolute right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No other country on the face of the earth has as a part of their constitution the absolute right to pursue happiness; no government can make rules as to what happiness is, can be, or should be. The Happiness we are guaranteed the right to pursue is entirely up to us. He has to convince us that he is fair, that his vision is for fairness and not special interests. He is going to be challenged by the pension looting that has taken place on his watch without him lifting a finger to stop it, about medical care and the maldistribution of its benefits, and if Kerry is smart he will be attacked for his failure until late in the game to staff the SEC with people who cared about criminal activity in the business community. He has allowed high paying jobs to go overseas only to be replaced by lower paying jobs and Bush is going to have to show something different if he hopes to win.

The war in Iraq is where this election will be won or lost. The reactionary mob has already formed, welded together by their white hot hatred of the Vietnam era and now recalling their hate some fifty years later. Not only do they hate Bush and everything he represents (Christians, business, the military, and so on). They want out and they want out right now. They do not want to recognize that Democracy is on trial as never before. Europe isn't worried and Europe is where civilization is real and honest. Nothing is worth fighting for "away from home." Wait til the enemy has penetrated the gates and when that happens it is soon enough to fight. The fact that the enemy has already penetrated the gates on 9/11 is old news, a secret Jewish conspiracy, a plan co- sponsored by Bush, or something to be handled by local police. There is no threat right now. It is in this debate that Kerry has a peculiar edge. An edge because everyone on the Left believes he will get out of Iraq on the double quick if elected. It makes no difference what he says. It's what he really means that counts and he means he will get us out of Iraq. This makes him free to argue any case because "what he really means" he cannot say to a bunch of fundamentalist Christians and radical Right Wingers and hope to win. It will be Bush's task to "explain the war" something he has failed miserably to do. Bush will have to go to the wall and tell everyone about French and German mendacity lying so they could hang on to oil contracts inside one of the most vicious regimes of the 20th century. He will have to convince us that what was happening in Iraq was our business and had to be handled. The Claudia Rosett story in the Weekly Standard about oil for food links to Osama bin Laden may be true and if it is Bush can roast Kerry on that grill til he's charred black. .

Manchurian Candidate major box office disappointment and cannot even finish better than 3rd spot on opening weekend. Word is probably out that this is strictly a propaganda movie for the Left. Also the plot is absurd as it was on the in the original which also was a box office nothing even with Frank Sinatra.

KERRY SPEECH PART TWO

PART ONE IS HERE Time and space prevented me from "fisking" the most outlandish of the Kerry military proposals; that of doubling the size of our Special Forces. This is too absurd to even comment upon since only ten percent of young males can even qualify for the training with any hope of completing it. Will he lower standards? Most likely with this crowd, because completely unqualified women will be suddenly qualified. Here is a sample of the training: Most professional athletes cannot make it through the course. Pretty Boy body builders have no chance nor do the street thugs from our cities. Only very high IQ strong, quick, high pain threshhold men can make it. Til the John Kerry liberals feminize it. Remember these guys HAVE to be volunteers. The thousands of elite college draft dodgers who could get through training won't apply. Too busy working for Kerry. Oh, one more thing: each training day is 19.6 hours which translates into five hours sleep per nite. A clear violation of OSHA rules and of women's needs. I think it is safe to say that Special Forces already has all the men in the U.S. who can qualify. Details of training are here.

Markets and Economy
CAREFUL STRANGER

The used car prices for SUVs have plummeted to serious levels. People who buy used cars cannot afford the fuel costs. This means the auto companies that have been making a killing on SUV sales are going to be hurt badly. New buyers are trading in and when they find out how little their current SUVs are worth many are unlikely to buy new ones. The rich can afford to put $100 per week into gasoline but most normal people cannot. Will this affect the markets? Yes. Hybrids are coming but slowly.

I did not short oil on Monday as I wanted to because I got no real signals. Took every bit of trading experience I have to lay off. As a side issue, Putin has almost killed all investment in Russia with his handling of the "oil criminals." There is no way to improve their delivery system without huge foreign investment, and this source of money has literally dried up. They may go back to the old days and seize weak countries with lots of oil.

The market in general? We are building a whole new set of techs, new trading range, a downside bias right now, and I THINK the market is wary of a Kerry win and investors are becoming defensive. NASDAQ still has too many spec longs and has to shake these people out.

Again, if your stocks look OK don't dump them but pay close attention to your stops and sell signals. I'm not a buyer in this climate.

The fabled 9-11 Commission looked only where they wanted to look, surprise surprise. One of the few reporters who actually report, the living legend Claudia Rosett reports
A 9/11 Commission spokesman confirms that the commission did not request Oil-for-Food documentation from the U.N., and none was offered.
The piece is largely speculative but 9-11 should have at least looked at it.
That same day, February 23, 1998, Osama bin Laden published his "Kill the Americans" fatwa. An intriguing feature of this fatwa was its prominent mention of Iraq, not just once, but four times. Analysts at the CIA and elsewhere have long propounded the theory that secular Saddam and religious Osama would not have wanted to work together. But Saddam's secular style seemed to bother bin Laden not a whit.

Spent two days with friends and family and talked and listened to at least forty people. Without exception the main topic was illegals. The same would not hold true in Washington, natch. Everyone was asking the same questions: who benefits?, won't Americans take the jobs if the wages are decent?, if sixty people can shut down the border it means that Bush is violating the law and lying to us, isn't that so? Here in SoCal there is no other topic. I'm sure the same is true thoughout the Southwest.

One other point about Charlize Theron and the apple bong. Does she look better HERE, or does she look better HERE? Enquiring minds want to know.
