It's official: New Orleans is Bush's fault, he cut the funding to zero for research on the vulnerability of New Orleans to hurricane damage, drained funding meant for flood control to the war in Iraq; his additional cuts at the beginning of this year (for a total reduction in funding of 44.2 percent since 2001 and who was president in 2001?) and forced the New Orleans district of the Corps to impose a hiring freeze. The Senate had debated adding funds for fixing New Orleans' levees, but it was too late. Bush is also responsibe for turning wetlands over to developers, and it is the wetlands that prevents flooding. Trust me, when the press gets through with this one it will all be blamed on Bush, the Republicans, and we cretin types on the Right. Good old Sidney Blumenthal (remember him???), writing for that America loving journal "Der Spiegel," joins RFK in the left assault just days after the hurricane and these guys will have no trouble finding liberal media to be their ventriliquistic dummies for their dialogue of the extreme Left. Writing for the German press virtually guarantees no German aid for us unless we agree to the Koyoto protocols. Thanx Sidney. Thanks RFK. BTW, good ol' Sid also writes for the aways balanced Guardian too.

Michelle gets it right about MS-13 street gangs. Just remember, it all started in LA with our city council preventing police from so much as touching a hispanic minority....
Last year, area law enforcement officials issued a warning that MS-13 was planning to ambush Montgomery Count, Md., cops during service calls. In June, I obtained leaked unclassified intelligence from the Federal Bureau of Investigations-Norfolk, Va., division reporting on a similar gang order issued in the Tidewater, Va., area: "Reporting by a reliable Norfolk source indicates MS-13 members are planning to randomly attack local law enforcement officers in the Tidewater area. Threats of this nature have been termed by gang members as "green light" notices. Green light notices have continued to increase, prompting the Virginia Gang Association to issue warnings to law enforcement in Virginia and the surrounding states…
Thanks George Bush, bye bye Republicans.....

We are within a day of hearing an outcry over the National Guard being in Iraq instead of New Orleans. The following report
Looting on Tchoupitoulas Street
By Michael Perlstein
Staff writer

Looting in New Orleans was so widespread Wednesday that police were forced to prioritize their overwhelmed enforcement effort.

Winn-Dixie's Riverside Market Place on Tchoupitoulas Street was breached in the morning by foragers who broke through a metal security door. Eight police officers in marked cruisers made it to the parking lot by noon, but they had a more pressing problem than people walking off with food and liquor.

The officers were rushing to a break-in next door at the Sports Authority, desperate to secure the store's stockpile of guns and ammunition.

"I think we ran them off before they got any of it," said the commanding officer at the scene. The cops secured the store with heavy plywood before moving on to other emergencies.
Part of a Picayune story. Cops are trying to do what it will take an army to do. Bye bye Iraq.....or it's bye bye USA

Reynolds is getting so full of shit he has to blow his nose with toilet paper. Posting a list of 15 charities is a case in point. The Red Cross, for all it's past transgressions, is the only outfit capable of handling a crises of this magnitude. I'm a major Salvation Army fan (they saved my ass twice), but they don't have the massive equipment that this situation requires. Semis filled with food, tractor trailers filled with water, and similar large vehicles will be needed. I urge you to avoid the fringe charaties that normally fill small local needs and send priests and rabbis together with well meaning do-gooders to do a job professionals need to do. This is big. We need to go with "big" to help in a meaningful way. There has never been anything this big since our country was formed.

While we all look to Katrina, lest we forget Able Danger. Weldon has another witness who will swear that records were destroyed on orders from the Clinton Administration. Records destroyed? No way! That would be illegal.

Robert F. Kennedy proves himself to be the slimeball's slimeball as he blames the governor of Mississippi for the Hurricane. Of course the only place low enough to post such shit is Huffington. Jesus Christ, is this what the Left is about to do? Possibly. When you go to the funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq to do a slimy demonstration anything is possible for you. I refuse to link.

Some economic impacts I haven't seen in other places.

Ags: New Orleans is basically the only port of entry and exit for every farm product. The grains are already down pretty hard today because we can't sell them if we can't ship them. Sugar crop is ruined so that may be a good thing if we don't have to pay three times the world price for our own subsidized sugar and get to buy it at the world price---delivered to Frisco or LA. You are going to see almost no fruit outside of the growing areas because there is no fuel for the trains, none for the trucks, and none for the planes.

Airlines will be in huge trouble because of flight cancellations. Transport in general is going to be killed: trucks, rail, and air.

The economy is going to be hit very very hard in retailing, WalMart may not re-open 300 of its stores, but in general there won't be all that much to sell with New Orleans closed down and all the PC assholes not wanting those dirty ships with their dirty employees hanging around. Frisco and Seattle will take up some slack---Long Beach is always at capacity---but New York with their corrupt unions and governments long ago lost all shipping.

Not all bad. The rebuilding will employ tens of thousands and these guys will funnel money back into the economy fast. There will be a crises in insurance because a loss like this cannot be good for business---the rise in rates may be as much as 50% which is horrible for home building. Truck manufacturing will boom.

The government may have to step in, and when they do the PC bean counters will want to control all business they can. The lawyers are already sniffing their biggest pay off ever and Congress may have to step in and stop them.

The porn biz will be OK as will the drug biz. Movies are toast but they were heading that way anyway.

Keeping track of donations for hurricane relief that those generous foreign countries contribute to us cheapskates:

France: middle finger
Germany: two middle fingers
Holland: an ice skate
Spain: two sombreros
Italy: a Mafia Don to raise some money locally
Russia: a paper bag containing enriched U-235 that we can sell
Japan: a partridge in a bonsai tree
Denmark: some hot porno we can re-sell
Sweden: a Viking ship so we can navigate the Mississippi River
Norway: another lecture on giving, this time it's why they won't give anything in order to teach us a lesson in generosity.
UN: $150 million a month. That is what we have to pay them in order to receive $200 million

I'll update this monthly

FOXNews is officially a member of the MSM. Their huricane coverage is total shit, completely ignoring the civil war aspect in New Orleans and a few other areas. MSNBC, believe it or not, is at least conveying (in the usual PC way) what is happening. New Orleans Picayne (link on left) still has best coverage...... We really can't depend on any MSM to tell us the total truth anymore, and FOXNews has to be included in that.....

White looters running wild in New Orleans, exclusive to Los Angeles Times.......

Employment opportunity: anyone who takes pictures of white people looting in New Orleans please call New York Times or NBC. We will accept your word for the accuracy of the pictures......

As I stated in my post yesterday, Bush is going to pay for his lack of focus on this storm and aftermath. In spite of the Los Angeles Times coverup (a diverse cross section of races involved in New Orleans violence) the New Orleans Times Picayune has the gory details, but remains PC acting as if this is an integrated rebellion. We've got a Black rebellion on our hands down there, and I think they reflect Black attitudes across the country. Make them a permanent link so you can refer there, the only place so far as I know that is telling the truth.

FOR ALL BAMBI HATERS OUT THERE

Great pix of Bambi after escape attempt from Abu Grahib......

Still a Bunch of Assholes After All These Years

After I posted the below piece I tried to donate to the Red Cross. An emailer let me know there was a slight "problem" with the Red Cross.

Late Add: OK, OK, the Red Cross is a bunch of fucking assholes. Their link won't accept any credit cards because they are experiencing "technical difficulties." If you phone them you get a recording informing you of "technical etc". Fucking assholes. Real fucking assholes. Even worse, you cannot erase your cc info. I hate to tell you all this.

Much later Add: It's working now. Still......makes me wonder. I donated.

If you guys need some blogging carnival to contribute some money to the Red Cross or Salvation Army right now, you have my contempt. This, an email from the Red Cross....
Thousands of desperate families are taking refuge from Hurricane Katrina in more than 230 Red Cross shelters in the affected areas.

# American Red Cross is launching the largest mobilization of resources for a single natural disaster in our history.
# We’re preparing 500,000 hot meals a day to serve to survivors who have no where else to turn.
# Several hundred emergency vehicles and thousands of ARC staff and volunteers have been deployed from around the country for immediate emergency assistance.

Red Cross disaster response teams are deploying to the hardest hit communities to distribute drinking water and other supplies to victims who were unable to flee from Katrina.

Contributions are urgently needed to support the Red Cross
Go here and cough up ten bucks or so. Please, don't wait to join some self serving "blogger" movement to contribute. And as far as our resentment of the Red Cross actions after 9/11, hell you just have to trust that they cleaned it up. Please give, and give right now.

Let's see, there is no power in New Orleans and southern Mississippi so Reynolds is telling everyone what a good job the radio stations are doing keeping everyone informed......????????? No power, no radios Glenn. I suppose a few cars in the hinterlands can pick up some info... And how many escapees from homes with only their clothes have a portable radio with batteries? The cops can't talk to each other, the rescue crews can't either, and only short wave radios with generator power work.

"What an asshole," is the term most heard in South Florida today. It comes from GOP country and directed at President Bush. While at least a third of the country is really hit hard by Katrina, Bush decides to talk about Iraq. "Why ain't thare no planes droppin' stuff for people?" "Why ain't planes droppin'water?" The Republicans are going to pay big time for once again failing to communicate every hour on the hour to the people---remember them---and stuff on trucks instead of planes is going to be talked about. Talk in many places about all the planes being in Iraq when they are needed here. Trust me, Bush's complete lack of communication skills is a big topic here. God only knows what they are saying in Biloxi and New Orleans. I get the feeling that he has to run everything by somebody before speaking about anything. And still not releasing the oil reserves is too stupid to believe. It makes no difference if the oil can be delivered and refined, people need to know that help will come.

The Republicans have been in power too long. Don't worry, this response will end it. The man has no clue. Face it.

Just as I'm sending this an AP flash is reporting rioting and murder by blacks in New Orleans. All you had to do was see the pictures of the looting to know it was Blacks again. The AP is also reporting murder and mayhem at the Dome. By morning you're going to have another Black triumph. Can't send any more because I'm using a laptop with a low battery.....BTW the always PC LA Times reports it like it is "diversity in action." Whites, Asians, Hispanics, a few Arabs, and just a touch of Blacks. Jesus, even in crises they can't tell the truth.....

Quickie from vacation in Florida:

1. Katrina damage here is much worse than being reported. While it is random, the flooding has wrecked homes and small businesses; the highways are in bad shape too. The locals are estimating a billion plus.

2. I've commented many times on this blog about the foreign buying of real estate in this country forcing prices up in the West and the Northwest. I posted in Driveby in Paradise the fact that Europeans owned a great deal of Pebble Beach and more than a little of Carmel-by-the-Sea. This ownership of desireable property drives median prices beyond the $2 million mark, ruins the schools because the out of towners don't give a shit about the local schools so they deteriorate, and they don't care about improvements like roads and sewers. Will this bubble burst? No, not until the EU economies tank; the Japanese had bought up Pebble Beach in the 80's and had to dump in the early 90s because they didn't have the money.

VACATION TIL SEPT 4TH---(delayed one day because of hurricane) but whatever you do, read Michael Yon's piece. Holy shit, it's a novel in two pages.....

If any of you need to go to blog sites to get hurricane info I say GET A LIFE. What you need is a job so you can get $200 to buy a TV. Michelle has a totally redundent series of posts about things you should have known about hours ago. Like if this stuff is news your meds should by adjusted.....

THE AM I FIT TO BE PRESIDENT QUIZ:

A hurricane bears down on the oil producing gulf of Mexico. So far, 500,000 bbls of oil production per day has been shut down. It could go as high as a million bbls. per day. As president you would:
(a) Announce that you will release from the Strategic Reserves an amount per day equal to the amount lost so that energy prices won't go to the moon.
(b) Give a speech about Iraq
(c) Give a speech about the awful terrorists

If you answered (a) you don't get to be president
If you answered (b) or (c) you get to be president and know that you will prepare a speech about the damage to New Orleans and that ten billion dollars in Federal money will be spent. The Strategic Reserves are not on the table.

The White House is totally brain dead. If we took Iraq completely off the table, Bush would still be awful. FYI there are fifteen refineries of various capacities on the gulf COAST. There are twenty more within 200 miles of the coast in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. It looks like as many as twenty refineries could be threatened, but only three or four of the twenty would be hit by the hurricane. It is unlikely that any refineries will be down for more than a few days; loss of electric power might shut down a few more.

"I'm still paying for that lunch I had at the student union thirty five years ago," said the man who had two mortgages on his house, the second taken to "pay off" his credit card debt.

There are a number of pieces being run in various media this weekend saying how "smart" it is to second mortgage your way to a better life style than you could otherwise afford. The "smart" people do not have dead equity in a house. Get the money out as prices rise. The "smart" people are all doing it. If you were only "smart" you would mortgage to the hilt.

What these people don't say is that the "smart" people are investment savvy, can leverage debt in ten directions, and have any exposure hedged. The "smart" people have millions; us dopes have hundreds of thousands in real estate values. How do you hedge a mortgage on a house? Well if you are only paying 2% and T-Bills are paying 4% what do you do? Well suppose RE collapses and all the seconds are suddenly unsecured by current real estate prices? I suggest to you that the smart (a) loan(s) was secured by stock, (b) these guys can short the shit out of stocks (if RE collapses stocks will too), (c) and they can short REITs (RE investment trusts).

For the rest of us, the argument is totally bogus. You cannot borrow your way to wealth because eventually you will have to pay the borrowed money back, meaning all that "old" credit card debt is gone so you can run up new debt, not realizing that the old cc debt is not really paid off, it has just been transferred to your second mortgage payments. The only way this kind of "borrowing" makes sense is if you intend to "walk away" from your $300K home that you have "borrowed" another $200K on when the market goes south. Well you better read your second mortgage. You will find out that second mortgages are almost always recourse loans---meaning the lender has recourse in collecting---he can take your car(s), boat, bank accounts, jewelery and whatever other assets you have laying around including your future paychecks.

How "smart" is it to borrow more money to pay back the money you already borrowed on credit cards? In other words you can't pay your current debts so you borrow more money figuring you will then live "within" your income---tear up your credit cards and use only debit cards. OK, if you have counselling and both your AND your wife agree to discipline yourselves; talk to each other before buying ANYTHING, pay for the ANYTHING with cash, then it might be OK.

If you can easily make the two payments and you actually eliminate the cc debt---and other debt---and really use no credit cards in the future, a second can make sense. It also may make sense if you are financially solvent and want a second to buy another home. It doesn't make sense if you intend to buy stocks with it unless you really know your shit.

If this is a RE bubble all those seconds become risky in the bond markets.

More on Able Danger, PowerLine thinks there may be something to the Chinese/Clinton reason to cover it up. There is not only money, but technology transfers from our super patriotic corporations to the Chinese too. Could explain the bi-partisan effort to cover everything up. Could be saying a prayer as the tornado hits too.

BTW we just flew past New Orleans (sort of) and that hurricane coming looks bad ass as hell.....

From an airplane high above the clouds: I'm using someone's laptop that has "wireless" and stuff so here's nothing. Direct quote: Rome is the dirtiest series I've seen yet on HBO. I can't wait. But...but...but...it's also the most boring, pretentious, educational series ever. On Slate. I'm in first class (don't ask) and there are a couple of Hollyweirdos across the aisle and we spoke for a minute or three. Sharp sharp guys. But they don't get it, they really don't get it. I asked about the box office slump and their responses included--stupid audiences unable to grasp subtlety, short attention spans so that plot construction has to be simplistic and therefore repetitive, too much computerized fake graphics (at least they got that right) and high costs---neither of them thought they were overpaid---of the technical help. When I asked about putting the war on terror on screen, both of them acted like I didn't get it either. The war, and Bush, could not be excused and it was the duty of artists to show this to the public..... Both are going to Florida to plot a movie shoot to be done in Right to Work state of North Carolina so they could do it without IATSE crews. That's why I buried myself into this lap top. BTW Kaus has both the fourth Atta, the second Weldon, the second Amir, and the solution to Able Danger. But very seriously folks, Front Page has a terrific overview of Able Danger and the Gorelick memo.....
"We believe that it is prudent to establish a set of instructions that will more clearly separate the counterintelligence investigation from the more limited, but continued, criminal investigations. These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation."
This was put in to stop any investigation of the Chinese donations to the Clinton re-election campaign. Then there is this little gem:
Felzenberg now contends that no reference to Able Danger’s findings were incorporated into the Commission’s final report because it was “not consistent with what the Commission knew about Mohamed Atta’s whereabouts before the attacks.” In short, the Commission believes that Atta was not in Prague on April 9, 2001 but rather in Florida – basing this assertion on records showing that Atta’s cell phone was used in Florida that day. No proof exists, however, that Atta was the one actually using the cell phone.
No shit, Sherlock. Nobody but Atta can use Atta's phone??? It's very hard to believe that every member of the committee conspired to cover this stuff up, but as things unfold what else are all us morons to conclude? Read the piece, it is not only thorough but thought provoking. More and more Gorelick looks like the heavy in this, for the reason that she seems hell bent on covering up any conduct by the Clinotonistas in government.

I am listing Seraphic Secret as a blog of the week, even though I really don't respect anyone who censors criticism of Israel (and profanity, which is whatever he says it is).

His claim to fame (or victimhood) is that he's a Republican film writer in Hollywood. So I'll list him just so you can drop by and see what he says. He is NOT my cup of tea. Just another crypto fascist posing as a liberal Republican. All these ex-liberal Democrats are full of shit. They are still liberal Democrats, but because they are Jewish they see the war in Iraq as their war too. Being a Republican in Hollywood doesn't mean shit to me. It's like being a slut in a whorehouse..... In other words you do what the rest of them do only you don't charge for it.

Another Able Danger guys steps up to the plate.....
A third person has now come forward to verify claims made by a military intelligence unit that a year before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, it had information showing that lead hijacker Mohamed Atta (search) and other terrorists were identified as being in the United States.

J.D. Smith, a defense contractor who claims he worked on the technical side of the unit, code-named "Able Danger" (search), told reporters Friday that he helped gather open-source information (search), reported on government spending and helped generate charts associated with the unit's work. Able Danger was set up in the 1990s to track Al Qaeda activity worldwide.

"I am absolutely positive that he [Atta] was on our chart among other pictures and ties that we were doing mainly based upon [terror] cells in New York City," Smith said.
FOX is credited with breaking story first.

Holy Shit! Another Hollywood Republican writer has a blog. Read his stuff. Has to ruin your day so read it at nite......

Not only that, the test showed that compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 99% on Scientific

You scored higher than 99% on Interpersonal

So fuck you. Test is from the Schultz page.

No blogging today, but FOX military analysts say we are fucking up. Here's how to fix it. State, CIA both have thirty day rotations--30 DAY. How can you spy in thirty days? How can you impliment policy in thirty days. Military leadership is beholden to political interests instead of winning. Change at the top of the military and they named Marine General James L. Jones as a killer and the guy who should run things. Go after Syria and Iran sources of bombs and terrorists. Implicit in their remarks was that Rumsfeld should go, but when queried they denied it. Bottom line: we're losing and it's because of the leadership. Interesting too was a statement that we had too many soldiers in armored vehicles and not enough on the ground where they can make contact with real people. And as usual with those assholes at FOX there is nothing on their website about what they said.

The most always interesting Brothers Judd has a thought provoking post up this AM. Should you care to read it, be sure you go to the comment section on this piece because it is even more interesting than the post.......

ISLAMIC STATE FOR IRAQ

What did we expect? There is NO WAY any Muslim can embrace Democracy as we know it. Iraq has a thousand year history of despotisms BEFORE the Muslims took over. The differences between Suni and Shia are as deep as you can imagine too. I think it's time Bush simply told Iraq that it is their choice to either return to Muslim despotism, in which case we're gone like the pharoes. and we will bomb them back to the stone age if they become a terror sponsor. They can choose to become a true Democracy---which will change to an Islamic state the second we leave---that we will support.
The culture of Iraq goes back thousands of years before Europe. Most refer to Iraq as the actual birthplace of civilization itself. But what is their culture? Is it Islamic? Now it is, but what was it before Mohammed? Who were the original Iraqis and what influences from way back when still obtain there? It can be said that they invented the farm collective, a necessity because of the flooding of Tigress and Euphrates Rivers. The Iraqis were known as Sumerians. Sumerians invented writing, double entry accounting, private property (even the King was held to contracts); they invented both the wheel and the plow, as well as the first mathematics system (based on 60). Their society was "matriarchal" meaning women had rights. They, not the much later Arabs or Greeks, invented banking. It was the ancient Iraqis and not the Greeks who invented the long narrative, they wrote stories down; their most famous narrative includes Noah building a boat to save himself and civilization from a flood, before the Jews and before the Bible. They invented an alphabet and the first calendars. We know they invented bureaucracy and that they had a yearning for some order. We know they had arts, statues, tall buildings called ziggurats, and that they traded with others.
The rest of the post is HERE. This is a tribal society held from slitting each other's throats by Islam.

ABLE ETC.

This is getting to be a soap opera, and Weldon did not just shoot off his mouth without some real testimony. I'm just assuming he also has evidence that he is sitting on too. It is more than strange that the Pentagon has "lost" the documentation as has the Committee. Lost info is worse than having damming info that might be explained away. All us conspiracy guys just have to leap on this one. The people who don't believe in conspiracies and coverups are too busy buying shares in Enron to get involved.
By PHILIP SHENON WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 - An active-duty Navy captain has become the second military officer to come forward publicly to say that a secret defense intelligence program tagged the ringleader of the Sept. 11 attacks as a possible terrorist more than a year before the attacks.
The officer, Scott J. Phillpott, said in a statement today that he could not discuss details of the military program, which was called Able Danger, but confirmed that its analysts had identified the Sept. 11 ringleader, Mohamed Atta, by name by early 2000. "My story is consistent," said Captain Phillpott, who managed the program for the Pentagon's Special Operations Command. "Atta was identified by Able Danger by January-February of 2000."
And yes, I was wrong when I opined that it seemed that Able Danger was becoming another "Burkett" type of story.

Able Danger Alert: Kaus has found the third Atta, and perhaps a fourth..... He's sort of kidding, but only sort of.

NOT SO FAST! The new Google is a Beta.....if you don't know what Beta means in computer speak then don't even think about downloading it yet.

Very good, and scary, piece at Counterterrorism. Take a read......

A word or three regarding Intelligent Design vs evolution. Doesn't it seem rather strange to you that the people on the "pretend Intelligent Design doesn't exist" side are the same people who have no problem accepting the Ten Dimensions of String Theory or the simultaneous splitting of two particles two million miles from each other as in quantum physics? Just asking. For a long time I accepted the explanation for the cause of rain as "the great dog in the sky lifts his leg....", I mean talk about an elegant theory, but then I was told by my science teacher that I'd also have to believe that a mirror image of that dog way out in space also lifted his leg....... Get my drift?

Camile Paglia is back, verbose as ever and interesting too. She's for Hillary, Capitalism, and socialized medicine. And feminism. And she says, "The humanities are ruined, and the universities full of crooks. Art in America is neglected, coddled, and buried under chatter. The right looks down on artists; the left looks down on everyone." Tell us how you really feel, Camile.
Forty percent of a paycheck over there (Europe) is taken by the government. The government does everything. People rely on the government to do everything. And I do believe there is a slow decline in creativity that is observable in Europe over the last 40 years.
You can find the entire long interview, did I mention that it is long?, HERE.

A SHIRIA CONSTITUTION FOR IRAQ?

Before I left, this very late add from the AP: BAGHDAD, Iraq - Hours before a midnight deadline, Shiites and Kurds reached an agreement Monday on a draft constitution and were trying to persuade Sunni Arabs to go along with their compromises, officials said. Hope this makes all that appears below, moot.
Big stink-----about to erupt over the supposed "constitution" for Iraq. The root of it all is the Muslim religion, no matter how it is presented. The Muslim religion being the official religion means "no women need apply." It also means that Shria Law will obtain over civil law and the constitution itself. The Kurds want to reserve the right to split--a real possibility---and keep the northern oil. It's the Muslim religion. Period. A sure recipe for an Islamic State hostile to the U.S.

So far only Austin Bay, and some Egyptian blogs are out front on this. No word yet from the Iraqi blogs. Late add: Iraq the Model has a piece up. The Constitution without shiria law is toast, meaning the constitution will not be implimented.

Worse, is the announcement by the terrorists that they will kill every member of the Iraqi congress, everyone who registers to vote, everyone who votes, and everybody who collaborates in the process. Democracy is the work of man, shiria law the work of Allah so Democracy must be eliminated. Daily Times, Pakistan:
BAGHDAD: US concessions to Islamists on the role of religion in Iraqi law marked a turn in talks on a constitution, negotiators said on Saturday, as they raced to meet a 48-hour deadline under intense US pressure to clinch a deal.

US diplomats, who have insisted the constitution must enshrine ideals of equal rights and democracy, declined comment.
VOA reports worse, if that's possible
they were nearing agreement on a Shi'ite demand to enshrine Islam as the only source of legislation. Kurdish officials said they still oppose the move.

But negotiators say the United States may be prepared to drop its objections to having Islam as the sole basis of a new Iraqi government.

Saturday's talks also focused on granting self-determination to Iraqi Kurds.
This is just the beginning. I'm posting this on Sunday @5PM before the sure avalanche of commentary. Our guys are dead for this? And Condi Rice backs it? A total sell out if true.

Can't blog Monday at all. Dentist.

WOULD WALT WHITMAN STAY IN THE PALESTINE HOTEL?

It works this way with me: a thought flashes through my brain at the speed of light and before I can do anything with this stroke of genius it's gone; society is deprived of the product of my great mind. I don't know how many thoughts are wasted each day; ten per? Twenty? I don't know. But every once in a while one of those lost and gone forever thoughts return from the intergalactic blackness of thoughtsuckingness and I grasp it.

That happened yesterday.

While switching ball games I happened to catch some dopey woman reporter defend the bogus dispatches from Iraq as exactly what we should expect; "it’s so dangerous there a reporter can’t leave the Palestine Hotel"; "they’ll get killed; they are frightened." She said this with that practiced sincere smile on her face that all female "reporters" seem to learn in all the right places; she said it as if reporting from the safety of the Palestine Hotel was perfectly normal. The only thing a reporter could do.

It's true that Hotel Bulletin reporting is the only thing that reporters who graduate from the prestigious journalism schools and fed a diet of left wing books and journals for four years can do. The universities are good at teaching cowardice and demanding students conform to the latest Lefy fad. Students are educated to think courage is sneaking around Washington bars picking up the latest dirt on some Republican politico or surfing the net for old slander that can be quoted in the next column.

Was it always this way?

Believe it or not, there have been reporters in the past who had the balls to get out of the Palestine Hotels of their era and risk their lives to report. No matter the risk, those guys gave us the news and sometimes they died doing it. Starting with that 16 year old kid in the Revolutionary War, Robert Penn Martin, the one who kept a daily diary that was published later and has become the main source for every historian who writes about that war. That kid walked from the woods of Maine to Boston so he could join up. He didn't go to the right schools," he graduated from the fourth grade" which meant he wasn't smart enough to find a hotel in New York or Philadelphia in which to hide throughout the war even if he had wanted safe haven.

And then there's the guy who wrote this one:

Adieu, dear comrade!
Your mission is fulfill’d—but I, more warlike,
Myself, and this contentious soul of mine,
Still on our own campaigning bound,
Through untried roads, with ambushes, opponents lined,
Through many a sharp defeat and many a crisis—often baffled,
Here marching, ever marching on, a war fight out—aye here,
To fiercer, weightier battles give expression....

------Walt Whitman

Written by someone who spent the Civil War war in a Palestine Hotel? Hell no, but Walt Whitman had the balls to report from the front during the Civil War. He had the guts to risk leaving his Palestine Hotel, the guts to spend the years from 1847 to 1855 writing twelve poems that he published himself, and the guts to write Leaves of Grass.

And how about this one: "Survival, with honor, that outmoded and all-important word, is as difficult as ever and as all-important to a writer. Those who do not last are always more beloved since no one has to see them in their long, dull unrelenting no-quarter-given-and-no-quarter-received, fights that they make to do something as they believe it should be done before they die. Those who die or quit early and easy and with every good reason are preferred because they are understandable and human. Failure and well-disguised cowardice are more human and more beloved......

----Ernest Hemingway

"Failure and well-disguised cowardice" is a suit that drapes about the reporters from the Palestine Hotel like a tailor made suit. Hemingway, the guy who wrote a few books in his time, reported from the trenches during WWI and wrote from the hills of Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Hemingway would have shot the gutless pricks who hang out in the Palestine Hotel. Hemingway would have told the truth or died typing.

And you don’t describe the feeling of a war this way from some posh hotel bar: "If you go long enough without a bath, even the fleas will leave you alone..." as Ernie Pyle explained it several times a week during WWII. Ernie Pyle wouldn’t have written a word in or about the Palestine Hotel. Ernie was killed by a Japanese sniper but no Jap sniper could kill what he wrote.

So it is in this war, the one not inside the Palestine Hotel, the one our guys are fighting (and winning by the way), the one Big Media has decided not to tell us about. The one we aren't allowed to learn about. But there are a few guys with balls who tell the truth. One of them, Michael Yon writes:
The operation has begun. The Commander of Deuce Four, LTC Erik Kurilla, was shot three times in combat yesterday in front of my eyes. Despite being seriously wounded, LTC Kurilla immediately rejoined the intense and close-quarter fight that ended in hand-to-hand combat. LTC Kurilla continued to direct his men until a medic gave him morphine and the men took him away.
The paragraph above appeared in a blog called, Michael Yon, who is one of the guys who didn't go to the right schools and naturally can't get a job anywhere in MSM. Michael, like Walt Whitman before him, has the balls to just write it and live off our purchases of his output. Another blog called In the Red Zone written by Michael Vincent was telling us the truth. Vincent was killed in some shithole somewhere in Iraq by some tire head who thinks democracy is a sin against God.

A truth is being reported all the time by a guy named Major K who posts:
He was not grazed on the side, he was shot through the center of his neck. SGT C. already knew at the time that his unit was under attack by a sniper. As his men came to get him out of the line of fire he warned them to stay back. He knew that one of them could be next, and he was unwilling to put his men at risk. Well, they just wouldn't have it, and came forward anyway, pulling him back to a covered position where they administered first-aid and prepared to evacuate him. Luckily, no one else was hit that day. SGT C. was evacuated to the Military Hospital in the Green zone where he was pronounced the luckiest man in Iraq. The sniper's bullet had passed through his neck and throat with an absolute minimum of damage. It missed his carotid artery, jugular vein, spine, and spinal cord by millimeters. He was offered the opportunity to fly to Germany and probably then on to the US to recuperate by the medical staff. He turned it down. He wanted to get back to his men and his brothers in Charlie Company.
The Iraq reporters, a synonym these days for cowards, slink through each day inside the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad pretending they are doing their job. Unfortunately their equally gutless bosses proudly strut around the chic bars in New York and Washington D.C. always having time for the next TV interview, telling everyone who will listen about how much guts it takes to challenge that prick Bush every day. Each morning they vomit out the latest from the Palestine Hotel and wonder why circulation has fallen 9%......

Al-Qaeda Court: We Will Kill Anyone Who Makes Himself Partner to Allah and Drafts a Constitution
Orders from on high: In an attempt to prevent the Iraqi constitution committee from submitting its draft, Al-Qaeda in Iraq has posted threats on Islamist forums warning to harm those involved in drafting the constitution, and those who support them. The constitution, it says, is an act of heresy, and those who act to implement it are infidels who must be killed. Zarqawi has a philosophy, of sorts. There are things created by God and things created by man. The things created by God are sacred and must be protected at all costs. The things created by man are evil and must be destroyed. Democracy has been created by man. Democracy must be destroyed. Go to Memri for the full monte.........
Accordingly, the Shari'a Court of Al-Qaeda in Iraq has decided to fight the drafters of the constitution and those who promote it, and to strike at the centers of the [planned] referendum. The Shari'a Court calls upon people who have gone astray, following the dissenters and those who have erred, to distance themselves from the centers of the heretical elections – because these will constitute a legitimate target for the fire of the Jihad fighters…"
Go to Memri and read all of it.

THE LEAST ARTICULATE PRESIDENT OF OUR TIMES WILL NOT ALLOW OTHERS TO EXPLAIN THE WAR

A principal reason for MSM mis-reporting? The fucking army itself. From my own experience these upper level military guys are total assholes when it comes to anything other than their specialty. They have a "censor it" predisposition. The result? They release stuff to MSM in a blast release and are surprised when they get it wrong. Among the mismanagements of this war (and they are too many to count) is the brain dead Bush Administration's inability to articulate anything. This incompetence is passed along to the Military, the one organization that should have nothing to do with communicating. Read Michael Yon today for a first hand view of the stupid policies of the army brass , and be prepared to get very angry.
Often I am asked to withhold information due to the immediate sensitivty. And so, I never release the slightest hint. But then somebody in Baghdad--three steps removed from the action here in Mosul-- releases it to CNN and the rest of the world. What is seen on television and in the papers is practically always inaccurate, or is at least poorly framed. But I rarely waste a breath trying to correct the information. It's too late. Life is busy here.
When I was in the service part of the upper level brass spent their time barring movies from the base, barring certain books from the bases, and in some areas barring every paper but the Stars and Stripes; and sometimes we didn't get even that. Now in their zeal to control reporting they have totally lost control of it. Yon points out that many of our successes are triumphs. Triumphs of technology, down and dirty fighting, and luck (ya gotta have luck). Bush is the least articulate president since Coolidge (Did I see Coolidge? No, but my son did.), and it is pathetic. If you can't explain the war in a single sentence you don't belong on the job. Bush is a shitty president. Face it. When you read Yon today I think you'll agree.
For example, our soldiers capture or kill top terror figures in Mosul routinely. Sometimes in stunning operations that display split-second timing. The "higher ups" often say, almost reflexively, that they don't want the enemy to know about these kills or captures.

Sounds reasonable. But whether soldiers sleek through dark allies with silenced weapons, slipping over walls with padded ladders, snatching sleeping terrorists from their beds before they can fully waken; or, whether they engage in a gunfight at a busy intersection and drag terrorists from behind the wheels of their cars--these are not anonymous men. Families notice when daddy's gone missing.
And we don't want the stupid American public to get information we don't deem appropriate.
Every one, even a "higher up" deserves the benefit of the doubt, and should be entitled to one mistake. But how many times, and how many major stories have to be mangled into meaninglessness before someone connects the cables and lets the information flow in a direction other than down the mainstream media drain?
It comes from the top, wherever that is.

Want a peek at what some of the Freeom Fighters or Minutemen are doing in Iraq these days? Can't wait for the Hollywood movie, can you? Source: (Austin Bay Blog):

Interrogator:

“Tell me how many rape and kidnapping operations were carried out. My information says that the kidnapped women were university students or daughters of famous people. You raped them and got money for it, and if they were not slaughtered afterwards…. Did this really happen?”
Abed: “Yes, it did.”

Interrogator: “Who would carry out these operations?”

Abed: “Abu Sajjad.”

Interrogator: “Your superior?”

Abed: “Yes.”

The entire interrogation includes murder, rape and murder, revenge killings and so on carried out by several groups within Iraq. The guy also raped a family member.

THE TRAITOR, MATT LAUER, GETS HIS

There's a ton of bloggers commenting on Matt Lauer's attempt to sandbag a solder in Iraq, trying to get him to say what LWM wanted. Here's the whole thing, taken down from Rush because he always takes everything down fast:
RUSH: The last hour I mentioned to you that it was fabulous what happened on the Today Show today. It was a classic example of a reporter asking a question of somebody and assuming there's going to be an answer, but getting one he's totally unprepared for. It happened to our old buddy Matt Lauer on the Today Show today. He's in Iraq, and he talked to a couple of soldiers over there. One of them he spoke to was Army Captain Sherman Powell, and he said, "Now, don't get me wrong, I think you guys are probably telling me the truth about how well it's going to over here, but there might be a lot of people at home wondering how that could be possible, how could it possibly be going well here with the conditions you're facing and with the insurgent attacks that you're facing, so what would you say to those people who were doubtful that morale can be that high here?"

CAPTAIN SHERMAN POWELL: Well, sir, I tell you if I got my news from the newspapers also I'd be pretty depressed as well.

LAUER: What don't you think is being correctly portrayed?

CAPTAIN SHERMAN POWELL: Sir, I know it's hard to get out and get on the ground and report the news, and I understand that, and I appreciate that fact, but for those of us who actually have a chance to go out and go on patrols and meet the Iraqi army and Iraqi police and go on patrols with them, we are very satisfied with the way things are going here, and we are confident that if we're allowed to finish the job we started, we'll be very proud of it, and our country will be proud of us for doing it.

RUSH: You know, I cannot stand up and cheer loud enough for these guys. This is the same story that we get whenever one of them returns and calls us on this program. Has it not struck you as strange, folks, this little apparent contradiction in this country, we have all kinds of Democrats and liberals, the squatters in Crawford, Texas, that are -- oh, and, by the way, speaking of this, Cindy Sheehan is mad, she's mad that the media is showing up in such numbers and destroying the original intent of her protest. She's all upset about it, which just proves the point that I have been saying all along, that the media is simply using her the same way they used Bill Burkett, the same way they use all these other people to try to drive a chink into Bush's armor and they end up exploiting these people, and it's just classic. Here in this country, on our own soil, you have people who are doing their best to run down the US military, to make morale bad.

That's one of the objectives. We talked about it all week. These are miserable, angry people and they become happy by spreading their misery to others. They enjoy making other people feel unhappy and miserable and put them on edge. They're purposely trying to run down the morale, they're purposely trying to create circumstances in the minds of Americans where we can't win this, and we shouldn't win this, and we shouldn't even be there. It's the whole point of trying to recast what's going on in Iraq today as the same thing that happened in Vietnam, and yet when we hear from people who are there, when we hear from the men and women in uniform, when they come back, all we hear are the same things we just heard captain Powell say. And let me play this for you again, because this is a classic. I mean, Lauer just set himself up here and didn't know what was coming. These guys first are telling Lauer how high the morale is, and how excited they are about the mission, and how proud they are of their country and how proud of their own success they are. And Lauer says, "Well, don't get me wrong, I mean I think you guys are probably telling me the truth." Now, what is this mean? I think you guys are probably telling me the truth? We talked yesterday about this attitude that reporters seem to have, their attitude of arrogance and superiority, that only the things they believe are obvious to everybody. I don't think you're lying. I don't think you're lying to me. Oh, I do think the military would lie because I think your bosses would tell you to lie. I think your commanders would tell you to lie to us.

When it comes to the institutions of this country, it's fascinating to me that the military is always held under suspicion. And it's always assumed that members of the military will lie. Bill Clinton, of course, never would lie. But if he did lie, we marveled at how good a liar he was. We marveled at how clever he was in being able to spin people, and we called him a great politician for being able to lie so well. But with the US military, we don't believe what you're saying. You're just being put up to say this. Don't get me wrong. I mean, I think you guys are probably telling me the truth, but there might be a lot of people at home who are wondering how that could be possible with the conditions you're facing, and with the insurgent attacks that you are facing. Why do those people think that, what is it that they are seeing? Don't forget, my friends, that it was just this week that the editor of the Tampa Tribune or St. Peter -- whatever the paper was over there, called the AP and said, "Hey, I'm getting e-mails from all kinds of people saying there's great news in Iraq that we're not reporting," and the AP boss in New York said, "Well, yeah, yeah, but our people really don't leave the hotel." I mean, it's obvious that there is no intent to report some of the good news. It's obvious the intent is to cast doubt, to dampen morale, but it is failing. The rest of the question is, "What would you say to those people at home who are doubtful that your morale can be this high?" What would you say to people who think you're lying? (Replaying of Powell and Lauer sound bite.) Damn right about that. Most of this country will be anyway.
I cannot tell you, I get goose bumps when I hear these people talk this way. Thank God for them. And it just infuriates me that they are immediately suspects when they say things like this, but yet a bunch of squatters in a ditch in Texas are considered to be holier-than-thou truth-tellers. And I'm sure it irritates you the same way. I got another great answer here. Lauer then said, "Well, there's been some reports in the media lately -- and I'm going to get your feathers ruffled here, I'm sure in a second -- the expectations now are starting to be lowered for what would be success here in Iraq. How would you feel about US forces being withdrawn before -- see, you're shaking your head, I can see it -- before the insurgency is defeated?"

CAPTAIN SHERMAN POWELL: Well, sir, I would just tell you, and for the people who are listening back at home, that we appreciate the support we've gotten from them so far, and soldiers will do anything when they know they have good leadership and they have the support from the people back at home, and as long as we continue to have confidence that we are supported and people have our back, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

RUSH: Captain Sherman Powell in Iraq today talking to Matt Lauer and of course the enemies of our military know full well that they can affect the morale which is precisely what they are trying to do. Happy, happy, happy to see it's not working.

ABLE DANGER PROBABLY ILLEGAL

In response to hits on me about the Army spying on Americans, here's a couple:
"POSSE COMITATUS ACT" (18 USC 1385): A Reconstruction Era criminal law proscribing use of Army (later, Air Force) to "execute the laws" except where expressly authorized by Constitution or Congress. Limit on use of military for civilian law enforcement also applies to Navy by regulation. Dec '81 additional laws were enacted (codified 10 USC 371-78) clarifying permissible military assistance to civilian law enforcement agencies--including the Coast Guard--especially in combating drug smuggling into the United States. Posse Comitatus clarifications emphasize supportive and technical assistance (e.g., use of facilities, vessels, aircraft, intelligence, tech aid, surveillance, etc.) while generally prohibiting direct participation of DoD personnel in law enforcement (e.g., search, seizure, and arrests).
The late interpretation is
DOD) Prohibits search, seizure, or arrest powers to US military personnel. Amended in 1981 under Public Law 97-86 to permit increased Department of Defense support of drug interdiction and other law enforcement activities. (Title 18, "Use of Army and Air Force as Posse Comitatus" - United States Code, Section 1385)
The President can get around this act by specific order. The Army can engage in certain domestic spying when controlled by the FBIThere is also this
Sec. 1385. - Use of Army and Air Force as posse comitatus----Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.
So if the president specifically ordered the Able Danger, or the FBI directly authorized it, the activity was not legal. Almost all opinions say that the DoD can only assist local law enforcement.....

Illegals sneak into country and then steal our property, and it's legal---
70-acre property about two miles from the border is being given to two immigrants whom the group caught trying to enter the United States illegally.

The land transfer is being made to satisfy judgments in a lawsuit in which the immigrants had said that Casey Nethercott, the owner of the ranch and a former leader of the vigilante group Ranch Rescue, had harmed them.
The rest is in the NYT, and of course they blame the American.

You could do a hell of a lot worse than hitting The Brothers Judd once a week. I miss him sometimes but without fanfare, foul language (moi???), or attack dog writing he hits a lot of stuff that is under the radar....

THEY STILL HATE RONNIE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

I had heard about this before but could not get a site from search engines. Today The Brothers Judd has the entire article. It is about a screening of the 1964 movie, The Killers, which featured Ronald Reagan in his last starring role. It details the Left Hollywood audience booing, making remarks, and cheering when he was killed. Take some meds and read the fucking thing.

Cindy's radical followers, my POV.
I think she is attracting a part of the Democratic Left that is basically powerless, stripped of numbers, and politically impotent--nationally, not in California---so Cindy is their chance at fifteen minutes. Her foul language, her equally foul accusations about Bush and our country isn't going to attract anybody but the LWM---Left Wing Media---who blindly hate Bush and will attach themselves to anyone, no matter how low, who attacks him. Any Democrat who wants to win nationally cannot afford to be seen with her, alive or dead. The latest nut case from Minnesota, where the Left is the most radical in the U.S., who is supporting her has nothing to lose.

This is just one more MSM sideshow that everyone seems tired of.

Claudia's baaaaak and she will make you think Putin, Enron, and honesty. If you don't start to think about Russia giving Iran reactors, doing a "war games" with China, having Godonlyknows how much enriched U-235 supposedly laying around, and partnering with Iraq in the oil for food program, then nothing will.

THEY MADE A PLAN, IT WORKED, NOW THEY'RE GOING BROKE

Drudge links to this column in the commie lefty scumbag LA Weekly, a free paper in LA that actually publishes some very good stuff once in a while.

In a what goes around comes around deja vu all over again piece of irony, all the major newspapers, led by the Tribune companies, made a conscious decision ten years ago to aim their product strictly at the high income liberals in the big cities and freeze out the working slobs with no money. The theory, which worked like a charm, was that high end advertisers like Saks, Tiffany's, Ritz Carlton, and the movies wanted to reach the people with the most money to spend. When taking a family to a movie costs $60 it makes movies high end.

Now, it turns out that movie goers are 18 to 39 and they think papers are for birds to shit on, not to read. Retailers have merged so there aren't nearly as many of them, hence not as many ads. The automobile business wants to dictate news content. Since the audience for movies is in a demographic the papers aren't interested in reaching----perhaps til this morning---the movies will cut way back on advertising.

These Ivy League MBAs can be too smart.

HATE TO TELL YOU THIS, BUT ANGEL DANGER WAS A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE

Able Danger clearly violated the law: and that is probably the reason nobody wanted to touch their output with a ten foot pole. Angel Danger was an ARMY unit spying on U.S. Citizens. Period. End of Story. Any and all evidence they obtained would not be admissible in any court in the land. It is precisely this type of domestic spying that the "walls" were designed to prevent. I don't have any more to say, no seven paragraph ramble, no blah blah blah or but but but. The American Military cannot spy on American citizens (unless in concert with the FBI). But they did it anyway.

I assume somebody will wake up to this in a week or so. Meanwhile, you read it here first.

Consensus opinion on Able Danger from FOXNews here
Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer (search), a military intelligence specialist who worked on a secret pre-Sept. 11 investigative unit called Able Danger (search), has gone on the record, telling FOX News that he personally briefed staffers with the Sept. 11 commission in October 2003 about Mohamed Atta.

A statement from the commission — formally known as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States — said that three staffers attended the meeting, but none, including Executive Director Phil Zelikow, remembers Shaffer mentioning Atta.
Shaffer insists he told Zelikow and Zelikow refused to meet with him claiming he had all the info he needed.

This is going to get really sexy......

The committee? Nobody can figure out how these people thought they could get away with this. It's clear from the whistle blower that they lied when they said nobody told them specifics.

AIR AMERICA SWINDLE FOR DUMMIES

Michelle has a long post up that sort of details what seems to be a package of undecipherable legalese and corporate gobldy gook. Unfortunately this kind of transaction is all too common, and only because I have some training in figuring out quarterly statements, financial statements, and other corporate shit, I know exactly what this is about. To put it as simply as possible....

1. You are a car mechanic. I sell you a car with defective breaks and don't tell you because you didn't ask. The only thing is that a car mechanic will always ask, so if the mechanic buys the defective car anyway, something stinks. Why? Well let's say he buys the car from his brother who not only owes the original car dealer, but a bank that he lied to so he could get even more money. He owes more on the car than the car is worth.

2. The buyer (mechanic) now attempts to cover up the deal so he doesn't have to pay the bank and the dealer. How? He forms a Limited Liability Corporation with the hisself as head and then the LLC buys the car from hisself for a promisary note.

That is the normal swindle. These guys took it very far down the line by borrowing from a charity they never intended to pay back and then formed another LLC in order to hide it further.

Now this would never fool anyone who seriously looked at the final company. But it is designed to fool regulators, cops, and dopes they hope to borrow more money from so long as nobody looks too close. This type of game is done all the time.

To sum it up: you make the transactions as complex as possible so nobody can figure out what is going on. The only purpose is to avoid paying any debtor anything while keeping the asset (car).

BOY DO I LOOK STUPID: For some reason I had the word "angel" in my head instead of "able" when posting about "Able Danger". Sorry. No excuses other than bad drugs, lack of sleep, and a girl friend who thinks oral sex is yelling at lesbians......

LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE: PIC OF BUSH KISSING SHEEHAN ON CHEEK

Pic of Bush kissing Sheehan on the cheek in 2004 over at WND. She has her own website and pulled this picture down once she went on rampage. This will make the MSM promptly at eight o'clock next summer...........

Able Danger: Catherine Herridge at FOXNews Channel now owns this story. There are more details every twenty or so minutes. If you want to keep up don't read blogs, turn on the TV. The FOX web site, as usual, is still showing last night's news break. Why have a website if it is twelve hours behind the news story that FOX broke?

Deleted balance of this posting because for some reason I posted it as "Angel Danger" and naturally I couldn't search for story. Thanx for heads up from comments.......

And on a slow news day Modern Drunkard has this......

ABLE DANGER LOOKING REAL

I said way back here that Able Danger had zippo unless Weldon's sources stepped forward...............well one has. Link to video. But this source doesn't name Atta. It's getting closer and closer to Jamie Gorelik. The original story was on the early FOXNews....
Lt.

A statement from the commission — formally known as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (search) — said that three staffers attended the meeting, but none, including Executive Director Phil Zelicow, remembers Shaffer mentioning Atta.
Then further down in the interview
"I'm told confidently by the person who moved the material over, that the 9/11 commission received two briefcase-sized containers of documents. I can tell you for a fact that would not be one-twentieth of the information that Able Danger consisted of during the time we spent" investigating, Shaffer said.

Shaffer said in the late summer of 2000, he tried three times to set up meetings between the FBI's Washington field office and officials with Able Danger who believed the information about Atta should be shared with domestic law enforcement.

Michael Mason, head of the FBI field office, said it's possible the meetings were arranged, but that cannot be verified by any means.
NOW it gets interesting. Looks like the Pentagon is covering up too.
Late Add: Kaus is all over this too. But FOX broke it.....

Washington Times says it's Pentagon fear of backlash

Hitch Strikes Again:
The United States is awash in human rights groups, feminist organizations, ecological foundations, and committees for the rights of minorities. How come there is not a huge voluntary effort to help and to publicize the efforts to find the hundreds of thousands of "missing" Iraqis, to support Iraqi women's battle against fundamentalists, to assist in the recuperation of the marsh Arab wetlands, and to underwrite the struggle of the Kurds, the largest stateless people in the Middle East? Is Abu Ghraib really the only subject that interests our humanitarians?
Read his piece here.

A new military blogger with 18 yrs in and smokin' says the body armor all of them have now is the best ever and the press is manufacturing the "no body armor" story. Check the guy out. The site is called: Six More Months.

And the intel guy reminds us of the difference between Intelligence and History. A new (to me) blog and worth reading all his entries. It's like reacting to the airline hijackings of 9/11 is history; preparing for a terror hit using gasoline tankers from info gleaned from a reliable source is intelligence.

EVEN WITHOUT MEDIA, 75% OF AMERICANS WANTED TO STOP THE WAR AGAINST JAPAN

Whenever the body count of Americans gets too high Americans will not support wars. Even in 1945 after the defeat of Germany, 75% of the country was opposed to the never ending slaughter of American boys.

In respect for VJ Day, the History Channel has been running an excellent series of programming. One segment (I can't watch all of all of them) really woke me up. I've posted here many times about the horrible casualties in the Pacific caused by the Japanese determination to fight to the last man, a determination that caused total annihilation of each and every Japanese defense force on every Pacific island as we moved toward Japan gory island by gory island. Our losses were about one quarter of theirs, but bloody bloody bloody nonetheless. I also related here the letter from an emailer who related family and neighbor horror at the picture of the dead at Tarawa that appeared on the cover of Life Magazine. It seems that there was some secret polling in January and February of 1945 done by the War Department that showed Americans wanted the war in the Pacific stopped by a margin of 75% to 25%. The strategy of the Japanese general staff was to cause so many casualties on invading Americans that we would lose the will to fight. Remember, the media was totally behind the war and there was no negativity, but the GIs coming home with photographs for everyone to see and coming home in coffins had shaken the entire country. The horrendous losses on Iwo Jima and Okinawa finally awakened America to the true costs of continuing the war. Had we not dropped the bomb we might have had to make a deal with the Japanese which would have allowed their army to try war criminals, supervise all disarmament, and forbid American troops from entering Japan. At the time of the A-Bomb drop, the Navy, totally convinced that the loss of American life in an invasion of Japan would approach one million, was on record as opposing a landing on the Japanese mainland; the Navy was so against an invasion of Japan that Nimitz, the commander of the Pacific theater, was going to openly oppose it. Many in the Pentagon were horrified at the number of civilian casualties we were causing by the firebombing of Japanese cities and a few others were in various shades of not wanting to go. Only Marshall, the architect of the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe, and the Army General Staff was totally committed to the invasion, and even advocated the use of poison gas on the Japanese.

The dropping of the A-bombs combined with the Soviet invasions of Manchuria and China ended all the speculation, but all of us has a limit. A democracy will only tolerate losses of their sons and daughters for so long. This time we have the media totally against the war. Last night both MSNBC and CNN ran feature after feature of mothers who have lost their sons in Iraq. We may be at the point right now, largely manufactured by a hate America Left, that seems to be close to a majority.

We’ll have to see.

Maxed Out has some pretty good info on Angel Danger and the "coverup." Like the general who created Angel suddenly doesn't remember it.......

I was wrong. My observations on the movie, The Great Raid were based on a screening I saw in a screening room in Hollywood. What I did not realize was that there are two versions of the movie, one for TV and other markets and one for us. I am told that the horrors of the Japanese treatment of our prisoners is in the theatrical release. The stupid romantic interest is still in. Nobody from Miramax mentioned that at the screening.

AN EIGHTH GRADE PRIMER ON "DUH BOMB AND YELLOWCAKE"

Without joking around, how hard is it to make a simple atomic bomb like the kind that blew Hiroshima away? Well it turns out that it’s not that hard. The only thing that’s hard is what they call “enriching” the uranium.

What does “enriched” mean? Ya gotta enrich it because all by itself uranium is only good for getting watches to glow in the dark. To make it ready to explode you have to get out the bad stuff from the ore. Enriching uranium means subtraction. You take the mined uranium and separate out the U-235, which is the stuff that you can blow up. U-235 is less than 1% of the mined uranium. When we first enriched uranium back in the 40s we needed tons of uranium at Oak Ridge in order to separate out enough U-235 for six bombs. It is this process that, while difficult, makes the rest easy.

When uranium is sifted, which means removing the non usable U-238 from the uranium so that you increase the proportion of U-235 in the mix, you will eventually have enough to make a bomb. Now you keep “enriching” the uranium until the proportion of U-235 in the mix approaches 20%—this is up from 1%. It’s at this point that some terrorist can actually have a real bomb that will go off, but the damage will be limited to destroying a city block or so and killing most of the people therein. So with a 20% U-235 mix you have increased the “fissionability” of the uranium by 20 times, the absolute minimum for a bomb. The more you “enrich” the uranium—have more U-235 is in the mix---the less you need in order to make a bomb. The amount enriched in military bombs is 90% U-235 to 10% uranium.¹

So job one is to get your hands on some already enriched uranium—the 90% kind--- so you don’t have to fuck around doing the job yourself. There are roughly two thousand tons of enriched uranium (U-235) stored around the world and Russia is the “mother lode.” Nobody knows how much highly enriched uranium is just laying around in various places inside Russia.

So let’s talk about stealing the U-235, because once you have stolen U-235 making the bomb is like falling out of bed. A bomb like the Hiroshima bomb just requires a couple of clumps of U-235 separated by a copper tube and when one clump is shot or dropped through the tube so that it lands on the other clump of U-235 (called the “gun” method) you have a big boom. In fact the explosion is so certain that this type of bomb was never so much as tested before we dropped it back in 1945. This is the type bomb we fear that small terrorist groups might get their hands on. Great animated graphic is here.

The other kind of bomb, or the real deal, uses plutonium (the one dropped on Nagasaki). Now let’s look at current events and yellowcake. Do you know what yellowcake is? I didn’t, and just assumed it was really bad shit that could do something or other awesome somewhere. Cutting to the chase: Yellowcake is an enriched byproduct of uranium mining which can easily be processed into plutonium that in turn can be made into a bomb. Yellowcake is important. It can make plutonium without expensive reactors and shit.

BUT Plutonium is a monster waiting to be turned loose. It is so radioactive---far more so than uranium—that just handling it can be quickly fatal. For the same reason, it makes radiation detectors go wild. Here’s what’s important; detonating plutonium requires a complex bomb design with multiple explosive charges timed to exquisite precision. In other words an advanced nuclear program is required to use it.

This is why the Joe Wilson Niger trip was so important. The purpose of his trip—to see if Iraq had tried to buy yellowcake----was crucial in finding out if Iraq had a sophisticated nuclear program. Handling plutonium is strictly for the big boys. In order for anyone to use yellowcake they’d have to have an ultra-secure place to separate out the plutonium and then make the resulting bomb. Joe Wilson really fucked us by not making certain the yellowcake was not sold, or that Iraq wasn’t trying to buy it. Sending Wilson was a major fuck up by the entire Bush Administration. Can you see how angry people in both the White House and the Defense Department are that this guy was sent on one of the most sensitive missions imaginable by his fucking wife inside the CIA? I’d have outed the bitch too, only I’d have followed it up by sending her into deepest Gangrapeistan without a cell phone.

Anyway, take plutonium off the table in so far as terrorists actually handling it. Everyone figures that terrorists will use enriched uranium and power plants are the source of enriched uranium is the civilian world. There are about 130 reactors powered by enriched uranium operating in more than 40 countries all of whom have enriched uranium just hanging around. It’s laying there. But typically the reactor operates on two percent U 235 (not the 90% weapons grade). So the U-235 laying around power plants is useless to terrorists.

Let us take a look at how a nothing country, or a bunch of terrorists operating within a friendly country can make a simple bomb when only “peaceful” nuclear tools are available. The first step in building an atomic U-235 bomb is to process reactor fuel—typically a uranium-aluminum alloy —into pure uranium. You can use nitric acid, which is cheap and available even in high-school labs. Even a terrorist chemist would cut up the fuel and dissolve it in a vat of boiling acid, then use an organic compound to isolate the uranium. The ideal compound for this is tributyl phosphate (TBP), although other compounds may also do the job. TBP has commercial uses, such as the production of plastics and ink, which might provide cover for a terrorist country ordering large quantities (probably in the hundreds of gallons.). Iran has a chemical industry and can probably make all they need.

If all goes well, the TBP should attach itself to the uranium and, like oil and water, separate from the acid. You stir, and you have TBP and uranium floating on top. The bottom is acid and aluminum. So you basically just skim [the top] off and all that’s left is to wash away the TBP. Given uranium’s low radioactivity, this work could be done in lab coats and goggles in a small warehouse. Then you just enrich away.

The process of privately building a crude bomb is made even easier by the fact that—unlike formal state-run nuclear programs which are typically held to strict safety standards—terrorists can afford to make mistakes ("Hey Abdul, be careful, we don't want to hurt the fucking Jew neighbors."). A bomb made from 100 pounds of 90 percent highly enriched (stolen) uranium could deliver an explosive yield of about 10 kilotons, or slightly less than the force of the 1945 Hiroshima blast. A smaller blast would occur if the uranium were of a lower enrichment grade or if the cannon (or drop) misfired because of design flaws. Even a one-kiloton explosion would level a city block, killing everyone in the vicinity and igniting huge fires. Radiation would kill perhaps thousands more. Mass panic would ensue. In other words, even a relative dud would be an absolute catastrophe.

This is why everyone is so worried about the enriched U-235 laying around all over. If you have that, you basically have a bomb. Every terrorist worth a dam is trying to buy some.

Now let’s talk about Iran, what are they doing? They can easily make weapons grade plutonium from “peaceful” reactors shipped to them by our pal, Putin. There is a myth that weapons grade plutonium cannot be made from "peaceful" ractors. A detailed debunking of that myth can be found HERE.

A great way of enriching uranium used to be the use of cyclotrons. A snitch from Iran claims they have forty of them hidden underground and ready to use right now. BUT this is very old technology. We abandoned them in 1982 and the French shitcanned them in 1986. It strains credulity to believe Iran will use such ancient and complicated technology. The new things are gaseous diffusion and centrifuge enrichment. Russia and Pakistan use the latter method.

So what is Iran doing? Chain reactions have to be controlled. Heavy water and graphite are used to do this. Do they have heavy water? Highly unlikely. An emailer corrected me on this. Iran is in the process of building a heavy water facility out in the open in a place called Arak just south of Teheran, and it is a place that can be taken out. They seem to have had trouble finishing it because construction seems to have stopped in March 2004, and then continued early this year. For all intents and purposes it is finished. A very ominous development. Thanx for the heads up. Everybody pretty well knows that they are going for the gusto. Do they want to make as much U-235 as possible? Sure. But plutonium (a man made element) can be made locally. This is where the peaceful reactors for “electricity” come in. Reactors make plutonium. And trust me, you can easily convert what is processed in a peaceful reactor into plutonium that can be used in the bomb. That’s why everyone is so afraid. The Axis of Weasels ain’t negotiating with Iran because they think peaceful use is in the cards.

So in an eighth grade way, that is the situation.

¹ One pound of highly enriched uranium as used in a nuclear bomb is equal to something on the order of a million gallons of gasoline. When you consider that a pound of uranium is smaller than a baseball and a million gallons of gasoline would fill a cube that is 50 feet per side (50 feet is as tall as a five-story building), you can get an idea of the amount of energy available in just a little bit of U-235. That’s why exploding 100 pounds of U-235 can level any known city. Figure ten pounds for killer portable bomb.

CAREFUL ON ABLE DANGER: Congressman Weldon has a reputation for being a crank and shooting from the hip without facts to back him up. Case in point: Schavio, he said as a doctor that she was conscious, a diagnoses he made by watching her on TV; parts of his accusation is clearly wrong---Atta did not stay at the same hotel in Jersey for a year---Weldon has him some place he clearly wasn't---none of his sources are stepping forward--- and so on. Weldon may be absolutely correct, but his sources must step up to the plate. For stuff backing up SOME os what Weldon has said go here... Also there is an interview on FOXNews that tends to back Weldon up a little bit. These sources must step up to the plate....
Late Add: Malkin is now urging caution too, in a late add to her post (scroll down to bottom) and she was one of the first to jump on board. All we say is stop and think.;

NEW YORK TIMES LOSES ITS LABEL AS THE PAPER OF RECORD

There is a huge upside to the NYT blackout of the Air America scandal. Editorials are appearing all over the country blasting the Air America management, the Boys and Girls management, and some of them mentioning the Big News blackout. The really constructive thing in all this for the rest of us is that finally the smaller papers who sign on with the NYT news service and just print everything without bothering to look, will now bother to look. Many of them use Associated Press feeds too, and the AP wrote a story on the story Friday. Just this AM there are 58 (and counting) news stories about Air America. The NY Times just may have lost the pervasive "paper of record" aura they have worn for the better part of a century and Middle America may get the real news in their papers, at last.

CINDY SHEEHAN IS THE ONE EXPLOITING HER SON'S DEATH

Late add: This AM she blames Israel for the Mid East
wars. Wants Jews out of Palestine.

OK, I'm sorry you lost your son but.....

Poor Cindy has a long record of affiliation with extreme left groups and causes, along with her angry pals (pictured). Here's a small sample of her socialist and anti-American organizations: International ANSWER, Code Pink, the National Lawyers Guild, the International Socialist Organization, Socialist Organizer, the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement (which hails convicted cop-killers as “political prisoners”) and so on. She has been connected with the people who call the liberation of Iraq an occupation, call the U.S. a terrorist organization, and worse.

It's time for me to stop pretending that she is being exploited. She is an extreme leftist who is doing the exploiting of her sons death. Before he was killed she was saying things like,
“Our country has been overtaken by murderous thugs....gangsters who lust after fortunes and power.”
If that doesn't move you then try this one
“As soft-spoken and sincere-sounding as Paul Wolfowitz is, is there yet any sane adult in this country whose skin does not crawl when this murderous liar opens his mouth and speaks?”
This is who the MSM is lionizing. For a complete dossier go to Front Page and link away. Cindy Sheehan is a piece of shit who has lost a son.

WHEW! GLAD THAT'S OVER

9/11 Commission says there were no documents supporting Weldon's charges regarding Able Danger. There were no corroborating videotapes, no signed confessions, and Jamie Gorelick searched the archives for hours trying to find something that would back up these disgusting allegations ............Developing

ABLE DANGER COVER UP BIGGER THAN LEWINSKY, BUT ARE BLOW JOBS REALLY LESS IMPORTANT THAN NATIONAL SECURITY?

"Hey America.… do you remember the strange actions of President Clinton’s national security adviser Sandy Berger during the 9/11 Commission investigation when he removed highly classified terrorism documents that should have been turned over to that independent commission? Did you ever wonder what Berger was attempting to hide and even more importantly, why? Did you also wonder why, even though he committed a felony, he received nothing more than a slap on the wrist while various political and intelligence officials played down his actions, wanting them to disappear as quickly as possible? It appears that we just might have discovered the answers to these and other troubling questions: Able Danger."
So begins a major piece that all of us should read over at NORTHEAST INTELLIGENCE. More
1. Our intelligence was dead-on accurate, but was not acted upon
2. ...they “were directed to take those 3M yellow stickers and place them over the faces of Atta and the other terrorists and pretend they didn’t exist.”
3. Mohammed Atta possessed a “green card” at the time. Under the rules of the Clinton Justice Department, lawyers working for Special Operations decided that anyone holding a green card had to be granted essentially the same legal protections as any U.S. citizen. They did not want to recommend that the FBI go after someone holding a green card......
4. Mohammed Atta's affiliation with a Qaeda terrorism cell in the United States was known within the Defense Department by mid-2000 but was not acted upon. Further and after the fact, the 9-11 Commission was reportedly never told about Able Danger or its findings. (We now know this is false)
5. "Sandy" Berger, who served as Clinton's national security adviser for all of President's Clinton’s second term, was caught removing documents from the national Archives – the very same documents that should have been turned over to the independent commission probing the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.

There's lots more there. Remember, Sandy Berger was allowed to "walk" for committing a felony, a felony that may have amounted to treason. Gorelik should be charged. Bush will continue the coverup and this must be looked at. Reno and Gorelik are responsible. Reno and Gorelik were covering for the Clintons. Sandy Berger risked his entire futute when he stole those documents. This is more Clinton slime. I hope you go over there and read all they have up.

The 9/11 Commission covered up the truth. They lied to us. Just to protect the Clintons? Want to bet the brain dead Republicans will do their duty? Well, it's kind of hard when there are Indian Tribes to sack and elections to rig, but they may pretend.

Saturday Goodie
A newlywed couple had been debating the purchase of a new auto for the wife forweeks. He advised her to get a sturdy van that would transport the large family that he was hoping for. She wanted a fast little sports car so she could zip through traffic around town. They were at an impasse.

"Look!" she said. "My birthday is coming up. Just keep in mind that I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in 4 seconds or less. Why don't you just surprise me."

So for her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale.

What they're saying:

Don Surber: The New York Times today ran five corrections on its coverage of John Roberts. Read his whole site, he covers the sexism of the Left too......
American Spectator: Cindy Sheehan has now been squatting in a roadside ditch near President Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch since August 6. And every day more aging hippies, professional grievance-mongers, and underemployed liberal arts majors show up with their backpacks and banjos to join her.
Michelle Malkin: tons of shit about Able Danger; good place to go to start linking. The Blame America Building at the 9/11 site may not happen.; Air America Round up; And the great GOP sleaze that can (will) wreck the Republican Party if it isn't dealt with.
Clarity and Resove: "Satan! You horrible, racist, islamophobic hatemonger. Muslims are the real victims." Go there for the latest Muslim hustle.
Northeast Intelligence: In my professional opinion, the words and actions taken by these lawyers were the beginning of a literal, real-world cover-up which would result in the deaths of 2,819 innocent human beings. The best look at Able Danger.
Belmont Club: A must read on new IED defenses for Iraq
Jihad Watch:.... neither side seems concerned about the stipulation that no law can be made that contradicts Islamic law.
LAPD Wife: Soon-to-be-released video game called "25 to Life." Here's a short description: "25 to Life" allows players to attack police with an arsenal including guns, Molotov cocktails, broken bottles and baseball bats. When weapons fail, players can use civilians as human shields. The game even lets players choose gang colors and create personalized graffiti tags.
No Pasaran: Unemployment among the under-25s in France stands at 23.3 per cent, and 40 per cent of 18-30 year-olds describe their financial state as "difficult".
Para Pundit:...the Saudis have exaggerated the size of their oil reserves and cannot increase production.
Schultz: Has an hysterical link to Scientology spoof.
Bad Jocks: Unidentified 13 year old male walking behind convicted child molester (the hot looking) Pamela Rogers.... "I'll wait for you baby! I'll only be 15 and a half when you get out. I'll still be young!"

GOP FREE ENTERPRISE=REAL EXPENSIVE ENTERPRISE

The GOP is about to fall into the abyss unless Republicans clean this up.....

Michelle
is focused on Air America but she had a link within a sentence that reveals a GOP scandal that is about hundreds of millions being stolen, not hundreds of thousands. It will make Air America look like a playground game. This is going to explode eventually and basically destroy the Republicans unless they act and shut this thing down. The Washington Post has most of the goods and then the Weekly Standard spelled it out too. It’s all about robbing Indian tribes that also own gambling casinos, sweatshops in the Marianas where slaves are brought in from China to make clothing that is then marked “made in the USA;” rigged elections in Texas, and looting of other businesses.

Cutting to the chase (actually there is no chase; cutting to the snooze) Republican BIG SHOTS, Jack Abramoff, Ralph Reed, Grover Norquist, and Michael Scanlon have discovered how to loot all the Indian tribes that have casino gambling. Worse----if that is possible----several of the tribes they “helped” are now broke because the fees they paid these Republican operatives broke them. Tom Delay is deeply involved too. Once the fees are collected the "gang of four" find a Republican Congressman to attach a rider to a shitty little bill on the floor in order to fulfill their obligations.

John McCain is slowly conducting hearings on the looting of Indian Tribes giving Tom Delay some time to get out of Dodge, but with every reporter in Washington in full possession of the facts you can bet this huge scandal will not go away.

My guess is that the Republicans have about four months until it will be too late. The Republican Revolution is over. Read the Weekly Standard expose’ HERE.

Late Add: Malkin is now running a major piece. GOP better solve this because the New York Times is ready to launch a full court press. Remember the Masters Golf thing (Agusta National) over women, Abu Grahib, and the continuing focus on things Right? My bet is that the GOP itself is ass deep in this thing, but............so are a hell of a lot of Democrats.

ABLE DANGER---WTF?

Very Late Add: Rush was all over this story early this AM. The NY Post has much of the story. It seems much of what I have below is correct: the main villian is Gorelik, BUT Reno may be even worse. BOTH are Hillary appointees. Mary Jo White, the New York prosecutor, had warned the White House TWICE about the walls and the danger they posed. BUT THE REAL VILLIAN IS: You and me for our PC and for allowing this PC to obtain in all our government actions, screenings, and dialogue. NY Post has most of it.

Hunch 273: look to Hillary, Gorelik, and the White House too.
How to explain the bizarre omission of the early (1776) tip that Atta and the boys were hanging out and ready to roll? The cover up of the info leads to at least ONE possible conclusion, and that is the name that pops up everywhere: Jamie Gorelik. This is one of the worst Clinton appointments on almost every level. Now it turns out that she was actually Hillary's appointment. It was Hillary's desire to place so-called "walls" between all government agencies whereby they were forbidden to share information, no matter how important to the security of the United States. Her hard and fast rules were allegedly being obeyed. Gorelik implimented the policies, with a vengence. It must also be noted that these "walls" began with the Church Commission in the 70's in response to clear violations of citizen rights at the time. They were built higher and higher, but when Gorelik entered the mix they grew higher and thicker and woe to the person who violated the walls; meaning their careers would be over.

Is it really possible that the entire 9/11 Commission deliberately left out the Able Danger Report to cover up one lousy woman out of ten or twenty? (Yes, because Gorelik was a member of the Committee as well as a FOB ie; Friend of Bill) Is it possible that a committee dominated by Republicans would cover up the raging incompetence of a Democratic Administration? And an obviously horrible Appointment?

First, let us all remember how Bush did everything in his power not to name a commission at all, and when it was named he underfunded it. Why????? WTF? What was it he was afraid would be discovered? More later.

WTF #2: I just have to stop my Right Wing brain for a second and ponder. Who were the Republicans on the Committee who needed Able Danger swept under the rug? Who were those commissioners again?

Tom Kean (R, NJ), former governor of arguably the most corrupt state in the union. His connections look like a liberal darling's Who's Who.
He headed the American delegation to the UN Conference on Youth in Thailand, served as vice chairman of the American delegation to the World Conference on Women in Beijing; and served as a member of the President's Initiative on Race. He also served on the National Endowment for Democracy. He is chair of the Newark Alliance and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and former chair of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Educate America, and the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation.
So, a total RINO, basically a member of the east coast liberal establishment who had no agenda to support anything Republican. But would he actually cover up? If you can remember his attack on all us peasants regarding our criticism of the Commission when he basically said we were all too stupid to know what was going on and to shut up. There is an odor there.

The behavior of Lee Hamilton (D IN) cannot be explained by RINOism, crony liberalism, or anything else. Is he senile? Easily led? This guy is a card carrying centerist, and you would call him slightly to the Right of center on abortion to the Left ot it on special rights for Blacks. But there is nothing there to indicate that he'd engage in a cover up..

Fred Fielding is as pedigreed a Republican as you can imagine, serving GOP presidents from Ford through Bush One.

Next we have Slade Gorton (R WA) another clear Republican. After him, there is former Secretary of the Navy, John F. Lehman a pure Republican and his credentials cannot be challenged. Then we have a blue blood conservative, Timothy J. Roemer. Last, we have James R. Thompson (R-IL) was former governor and has a sterling track record of going after corruption while in Illinois. He was the first head of Homeland Security.

But on the Left there is el Clintonista Magnifico , the Left attack dog himself: Richard Ben-Veniste. This guy had one agenda only and it wasn't to make America safe from terrorist attack. His sole purpose was to keep Clinton clean at all costs. He had been chief of the Watergate Task Force of the Watergate Special Prosecutor's Office from 1973 to 1975 in which capacity we can assume he did anything and everything to hang Richard Nixon; after all it was Nixon who was most responsible for nailing Democratic Left Darling and Russian spy, Alger Hill, or was it Hiss? Veniste was chief counsel (minority) of the Senate Whitewater Committee, and did everything and anything to keep the Clintons from going to jail. He is a top lawyer with a big big rep for being tenacious and tough. His style is always attack. It follows that he would move Heaven and earth to keep Hillary appointee, Jamie Gorelik, out of the soup as job one.

Then we have Jamie herself. She made her liberal bones as vice chair of the nearly totally corrupt Fannie Mae; it was on her watch that they were rolling profits forward and backward to cover up the fact that they had made too many bad loans. She had also been deputy attorney general of the United States and before that she had been general counsel of the Department of Defense. So she had been in one of the departments responsible for some of the intel failures and as a part of the Justice Department under Hillary there was at least tangential involvement in national security. Gorelik is connected everywhere.

Lastly there was Bob Kerrey (D NE). A doctrinaire liberal but no indication that he was dishonest, on the contrary everything about him indicates independence.

So what we are left with is an attempt to cover up Jamie Gorelek/Hillary Clinton/Bill Clinton responsibilities in the intel mess prior to 9/11.

And it just turns out that when Able Danger is factored into the mix, there was no failure with our basic intel at all. The failure was in the rules set up by Hillary appointee Jamie Gorelik. Period. Now if we include Gorelik bud, document stealer extrodinaire Sandy Berger in the mix we really have something.

This is very very weird. Could it have been a simple error? By everyone? I can't see error by either Gorelik or Ben-Veniste. Both had to be at least knowledgeable about the exclusion of Able Danger, a story that would tar the Clintons forever.

At least let's hope so.

But then how do you explain the roll over by the Republicans on the Committee? I'll buy Atwater being in his dotage and Kean certainly seems like a person white water rafting in a leaking canoe, but Thompson? Lehman?

And then there is the White House and Bush fighting like hell against a Commission being formed. Is it possible that the White House had the Able Danger report too and just ignored it?

Lots to think about.

References: Captains Quarters, Just One Minute, long long long link here, and Maxed Out Mama can lead you to lots.

So, now that I've had my piece---keep in mind that I'm lining up facts to fit my scenario. There is not a shred of evidence that this info was covered up by the committee. There is absolute evidence that this information was buried by staff. Was the staff directed to cover it up? Taa daa..... Oh, and what was Sandy Berger sticking into his sock????

Heather MacDonald has a decent piece in National Review about racial profiling that has one good paragraph
The relationship between being a Muslim terrorist and being a Muslim is more than a statistical fact, it is a logical tautology. By definition, all Muslim terrorists are Muslims. If Colbert King and the rest of the political elites don't like this association, they should take their complaint to Osama bin Laden. Until Osama, in deference to Americans' delicate sensibilities regarding certain minority populations, calls on Jews and Lutherans to join the Islamic jihad against Americans, the police are going to have to work with what he's given them.
What Heather and others criticizing Black hostility toward the police deliberatly fail to mention in their pieces is that a hell of a lot of Black Americans hate this country and wouldn't give a dam if the whole place blew up. In fact they'd help blow it up.

The penultimate AARP hit piece is HERE.....

FULL COURT PRESS BY THE HOLLYWOOD LEFT MAY DOOM US IN IRAQ

Plot: “Munich.” Steven Spielberg directs this film about the aftermath of the 1972 Olympic terror attacks that killed eleven Israeli athletes. Munich’s screenplay is written by playwrite Tony Kushner ("Angels in America"), who has been quoted as saying: “I think the founding of the state of Israel was for the Jewish people a historical, moral, political calamity … I wish modern Israel hadn’t been born.” Now this is a Jew saying all this. A Jew, maybe THE Jew---Spielberg---is turning against Israel and America.

And so on. For a rundown on the onslaught of hate Bush, hate Amerca Hollywood output with appropriate pix. Go HERE for the post and a great site.

This onslaught of major Hollywood star studded Leftist propaganda will end the Iraq war and may end us as a meaningful world power. Check out the link. It's a shocker. There is a full court press by the Left and they absolutely control the media. The solution is presented on the site as well. My only contradiction here is that movies with an opposing point of view will never make it out of the current Hollywood and no star will appear.

Think about all this. Original referral from Malkin. Below is the poster from an upcoming Hate America pix called Jarhead."Welcome to the Suck???" Houston, we have a problem. Be absolutely sure you check out the entire site. He is one of the good guys. Clink on the pic above for a blow up.....

Remember an asshole named Shinseki? The general who got canned because he said it would take a minimum of 250,000 troops to pacify Iraq? I thought so.

Latest Race Hustle----mayoral candidate says he suffers from Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome.....

Blockbuster bleeding Red Ink, blames rotten Hollywood movies nobody wants to see.

MSM slobbers all over the grieving mom, Cindy Sheehan, who is loudly proclaiming her grief because her son was "murdered" by President Bush. They do this without a conscience while blacking out the story of Air America. Sheehan is funded by all the usual suspects on the Left (Cindy is now starring on Michael Moore's web site. Only go there if you like to get sick,) who are always ready to pimp for anybody who might make Bush look bad. My only comment here is that it is magic of a sort when EVERY MSM outlet is all over this story, and none of them are so much as whispering about Air America. The phony Democrats in Congress issued a well publicized "letter" warning Bush not to have her arrested, as if she was ever in danger of being arrested, and the MSM blares that too. Meanwhile, the State of Washington has forced all state employees to join a union many of them don't want to join; Democrat state governments are robbing us of our rights in California (Arnold is only governor, all the rest of the State is Democratic), they are doing their best to rob everyone other than hard left liberals of their right to vote in Michigan, and guys like Michael Yon write pieces from Iraq that, if not for blogs, would appear in thin air and nowhere else.

The Arts
The Right just looooovvvves a movie shot for ten cents
and starring people you've never heard of. Why does the Right love it? Naturally because it covers a Red State subject and supposedly raises a movie into the our soldiers are not war criminals class. The Raid, a story about the 1945 raid behind Japanese lines that rescued 500 nearly starved U.S. prisoners in the Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp in the Phillippines, should have been told before and has been (Great Excape and so on). The movie we get now has penny ante special effects, primitive photography, and color balance that makes most scenes all brown. This is the PC story for the Right and is getting good, not great, reviews from all the Lefties who write reviews. Naturally we will be spared scenes of the Japanese eating prisoners alive, Japanese using prisoners for bayonet practice, prisoners having gasoline dumped over them and set on fire to much laughter from the Japanese guards. In short we will not see any scene that might show us why the Atomic Bomb was dropped. Miramax doesn't want to offend the wonderful people who ate our soldiers alive when it suited them, raped 80,000 women in Nanking, and tossed babies into the air and let them land on their bayonets; telling us stuff like that is "bad for business." The Raid, R rated because we don't want kids to know our soldiers are terrific people, is a great tale told as cheaply as possible and done as well as cash limitations can allow. I hate to tell you this, but you might want to wait til it goes to video. Compared to battle scenes in the latest Hollywood offerings, this is bland bland stuff. Oh and there is a romantic interest tossed in that is absurd.

I'm not featuring Air America because others are all over it. However, today Captains Quarters has dug up some very good history and I urge you to link to it HERE. One thing people are not talking about with all the duplicate ownership are the letters LLC. They stand for Limited Liability Corporation. A lot of people think this will shield them from responsibility. Wrong. Criminal actions will be prosecuted and the corporate veil can be shredded by regulators. Very thorough legal explanations are HERE. Michelle is acting as sort of a clearing house for links too. Bottom Line: with Big Media absolutely engaged in a cover up it will be the knowledgeable blogs that will bring this thing forward.

THE ABORTION INDUSTRY HAS BECOME A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS

Proof that Bloggers are not the place to get news.
Actually posted early in the evening of Tuesday 8/9; changed so it could appear first item.

The NARAL TV ad accusing Judge Roberts of filing a legal brief in support of the abortion clinic bombing is a vicious lie, but you all know that. What you might not realize is the size of the TWO HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR PLUS Abortion Industry. It is the profits from this industry that is fueling the anti-abortion slime and that pays directly for this ad and ads like it. The WSJ has a must read editorial today, part of which quotes a speech that Orin Hatch made during the Pricilla Owen hearings, and here is just a sample
I fear the opposition to Justice Owen from the abortion lobby is not at all about abortion rights, because abortion rights are affected by a mere notice statute. The opposition to Justice Owen is not really about abortion rights, it is about abortion profits. Simply put, the abortion industry is opposed to parental notice laws because parental notice laws place a hurdle between them and the profits from the abortion clients--not the girls who come to them but the adult men who pay for these abortions. These adult men, whose average age rises the younger the girl is, are eager not to be disclosed to parents, sometimes living down the street. . . . At nearly one million abortions per year, the abortion industry is as big as any corporate interest that lobbies in Washington. They not only ignore the rights of parents, they also protect sexual offenders and statutory rapists.
Read it. No media coverage at all of the speech. No blog coverage either. Only one paper, Newsday, owned by the Tribune Companies, ran the story. NOBODY PICKED IT UP. So those of you who think the bloggers are the real news source, think again.

There's a real disaster happening right before our eyes, and of course no MSM coverage. I refer to the complete absense of accusations, innuendos, smears, and connections to drug dealers on all the "gossip" blogs. As lately as two weeks ago they were brimming with gay outings, orgies, lesbian stars getting it on with their dogs, and other really interesting stuff. Could it be that many stars hired lawyers, a-la-Tom Cruise, and served them all with cease and desist orders? Even the Post's Page Six is tame. Oh well, Bad Jocks dot com is still in the game thanx to tons of high school girls getting it on with their male and female teachers and coaches. And, and, the high school football star who has to wear an ankle bracelet to practice as he awaits trial on five felonies, Thai gamblers forcing their wives into prostitution to pay off gambling debts, Man Spends Two Weeks With Padlock on His Genitals and much much more. Thank God for our sports heroes or we'd have nothing.

I don't know about you, but every time I see one of those BP (British Petroleum) ads with the slobbering envirowhiners telling us that the trees and stuff is what is important to them I go for the remote.......

I always assume that all of you who read me also read a lot of my links. If that is NOT the case I urge you to link to Michael Yon today. He's in the middle of things and is dam good.
Flash burns from bombs are deadly. I’ve seen it many times: anything exposed is fried in an instant. Skin and flesh just peel-off. The super-hot flashes also melt contact lenses to eyeballs before people can blink......The blast in an explosion opens the eyelids, fusing the melted contacts to the eyeballs. Smart soldiers don’t wear contacts in combat, but others often do.
Like I said, he's in the middle of things and this post is mesmerizing reading.

NARAL's ads against Judge Roberts are flat out lies. Every site in the known universe is all over it, so I'll pass with a simple "GFY Naral......" For info, this is as good a place as any to start. Patterico led off yesterday, as did Power Line.......... OI'Reilley did a soft show with one of those "balanced" interviews he seems to be doing now. Yawn......

GRANOLA HEADS AND TERRORISM

Michelle links to a story out of Oregon that ridicules the possibility that terrorist Haroon Aswat could have been building a terrorist training camp in the town of Bly. I know a lot about Oregon and their attitudes. They are so insulated from the rest of the U.S. that they won't even buy things from outside of Oregon. I used to sell farm impliments and supplies over the phone and they would rather pay retail to their local store than save hundreds and hundreds of dollars, not to mention the waste of hours hauling the stuff back to their farms and businesses, or waiting a month for the local yokel to get whatever it is they want. They are arrogantly insulated. A person interviewed says about the terrorist,
"Ridiculous," Marilyn Thomas, who runs the Pit Stop convenience store in Bly, a tiny ranching community in the high desert of south-central Oregon, said Monday in a telephone interview. "I'm from Chicago, where I didn't even know my neighbors. Here they know what you're going to do before you do it. And if you don't do it, they get mad."
I'm from a town so small that the city limit signs were back to back; no traffic light, no post office, and one cop. Small towns are not places where people are open. On the contrary, the people let you know only what they want to let you know and they mistrust and actively dislike outsiders. Look at all the meth labs and pot farms; look at the Ted Kucinskis, abortion clinc bombers like Eric Rudolph, and all the child kidnappers hiding in them. Small towns are exactly where a training facility like this can exist. The rest of the country calls people in Oregon "Granola Heads," meaning the farthest out Lefties you can imagine; isolated spotted owl licking environuts who are contemptuous of everyone else. Many cities and towns in Oregon have openly refused to enforce the Patriot Act. Many more are openly "sanctuary cities." Portland has become the crime capital of the Northwest, the sanctuary where all the LA gangsters go when things get too hot for them down here in La La Land. They are now moving into Granola Head Central" Eugene, home of U of O that has now become slightly uncomfortable.

Oregon deserves the worst. Our problem with Oregon is that they think that it's perfectly alright to export their terrorist product to the rest of us.

Short note on shuttle: four of us sitting around and watching the landing, and as the vehicle slowed and stopped one of the guys said, "I bet the liberals just hate this." I changed to MSNBC and sure enough the woman was saying, ...."this was a successful mission BUT we must remember the malfunction of the tiles..." I switched back to FOX. Every success is bad news to the Left no matter what area the success encompasses. They wanted to see failure and death. That's who they are.

There is a pretty good blog called The Anchoress that has one thing that confuses me. When you try to make a comment there it gets flagged as spam for further censorship. I am finding that more and more bloggers have whatever it is that Anchoress has. I have a new rule: fuck everybody who flags comments. If you don't want them take the comments option off your blog posts.

For those of you not bored out of your skulls about the slanted rants and outright fiction in the LA Times, Patterico has another disgusting example for you

IRAN NOW---AMERICA 200 YEARS AGO

Let’s pretend: it’s 1805 and the United States has just come out of a revolution, survived a counter revolution, established once and for all our right to exist with all the world’s major powers: France, Spain, and England. We are independent.

Then the three powers decide that they don’t want us manufacturing any guns with spiraling barrels—called rifling—because their use presents a grave danger to themselves and the millions of hostile Indians on our borders. Guns that are rifled are far more accurate than regular muskets and have a killing range of 200 yards. An army equipped with rifles would be a danger to everyone and the “great powers” have decided that they are too expensive to manufacture for mass use.

What do you think President Jefferson would have told them? Do you seriously think that the three major powers who have already been kicked out of a lot of America could mount another expensive and potentially ruinous war? Haven't we already fought to be masters of our own destiny?

Which brings us to Iran. They are an independent country, one that we regard as a thugocracy, a potential menace to everyone, and virutally a terrorist state. Does what we think of them make any difference to them? No. They have a right as an independent nation to do what they want to do. And they will.

What can we do, besides kill everyone in the country? Not a fucking thing. Should we blockade the Gulf of Hormuz in order to block any ships from Iranian ports, we will only succeed in blocking oil shipments FROM the ports. We cannot cut them off because China will continue to help them build their Atomic arsenal. They have friends all over the Middle East and those friends will be delirious when a Muslim country has the bomb.

Now, as to the length of time before they will have a bomb. The time it takes to extract 235 from Uranium varies. It depends. It’s still not easy to extract enough U235 to make even one bomb, much less a lot of them. However, North Korea is now so far along in their development that they can make three bombs per month. Iran can buy either North Korean technology or their bombs.

Iran is ten years away only if we consider that they don’t have the technology to produce them. Yet. I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.

Late Add: emailer John G. let's me know a little something about extracting fissionable materials from "peaceful" power purposes. The post mentions that President Carter actually has experience in nuclear physics, and when he was president commissioned a committee to look at "peaceful" projects.
Carter finally commissioned a study and ordered a nuclear warhead to be constructed from Plutonium from commercial Light Water Reactors like the ones in use in Japan. That warhead was built and successfully tested under the Nevada Test Site where all US nuclear weapons tests are carried out. Light water reactor Pu is less optimal and the yield of the bomb was smaller than that of normal nuclear warheads but it certainly worked. Based on this knowledge the US government then discouraged both nuclear reprocessing and Fast Breeder Reactors in the US.
What the emailer is saying is that all the talk about peaceful purpose nuclear development is bogus. It has been proven that the technology CAN be used to build a bomb. There is a very long thread discussing this both pro and con. Scientists both agree and disagree with the above paragraph.

TURKEY MOVES CLOSER TO TERRORISTS. MY READERS SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED

Al Qaeda is publishing a mag openly in Istanbul. I reported before the war started that the Prime Minister of Turkey (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) was a hard line Islamist and could only be trusted to turn Turkey into an Islamist state. He is tight with a super radical former leader of Turkey, Necmettin Erbakan, the last time he led the country (with 22% of the vote) he installed mosques paid for by the government, urged foreign terrorists to incite Turkish youth into attacking the U.S. and so on. The current president is a stealth Necmettin who has no more intention of joining the EU than he has of becoming a Catholic. MEMRI reports
The weekly political magazine Tempo and some major Turkish daily newspapers such as Milliyet, Aksam and Cumhuriyet have reported that the Islamist Turkish terrorist organization "Great East Islamic Raiders Front" ( IBDA-C)(2) began publishing a new weekly magazine named 'Kaide,' which openly praises Al-Qaida and idolizes Osama bin Laden. The Kaide magazine, which looks like an Al-Qaida bulletin and publishes all their announcements, is published legally in Istanbul and is sold in all the newsstands in Turkey. (tip LGF)
This is THE worst possible news. Turkey would dearly love to wipe the Kurds off the face of the earth and are massed on the border eager to do so. Watch out, because this is really serious. They control all the water going to Iraq and most of it that goes to Syria and Lebanon. From my old post:
The current leader of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is well known as a Muslim firebrand (now says that is all in the past) AND he has too close ties with Necmettin Erbakan, a hard line Islamist and former PM who was kicked out. When Erbakan was last leading the country he did the following: signed agreements with terrorist Lybia and Iran, established a religious school system to turn out Islamic radicals, had plans to build mosques with public monies, infiltrated the government with hard line Muslim fundamentalists, allowed the Iranian ambassador to Turkey to call on Turkish young people to take up arms against the United States; and other less odious practices.
Later blog with more info is HERE. You will know it's all over if the government permits college women to wear scarves (hadj) which are still banned at the universities. Keep your eyes open. The girls want to wear the hadj to demonstrate their allegiance to Islam and it is reported that many are wearing wigs instead as a show of support.

Post that talked about water is here Some excerpts of a very long piece:
Which brings us one more time to Iraq, home to the non homogeneous population of Kurds, Sunnis, and Shias who actually hate each other. A country where 40% of the young males are unemployed, where respect for established institutions, other than Muslim, does not exist, and an economy that manufactures nothing, grows barely enough food to feed the population, and has no service sector at all. Most important: Turkey now controls all their water supply and can cut them off in a nano-second. Their economy is oil and potential tourism. The Muslim religion demands Shiria law obtain in the country over civil law, they are intolerant of any free expression that challenges Muslim orthodoxy– Salman Rushdie is once again on death watch and our government pretends the execution of the Coptic Christians in Jersey is not a terrorist execution—and women in the work force? fuhgedaboudit.

Iraq is not a country. It is a map creation by the Brits and Frogs, a quickie so they could divvy up territory and get on with the sacking of colonies. There is no Iraq. At best there are three homogenous groups there that on their own could get along so long as all left the Kurds alone, or if the Kurds left them alone. The Kurds are not only the huge majority in Northern Iraq, they are a huge majority in southern Turkey, a threat to the Turkish government every day. Not only there, but they exist in great numbers in Iran and Syria. They are a constant threat everywhere because they were never a part of the maps laid out by the Colonial Powers. They were ignored as if they didn’t exist. They now smuggle goods across invisible borders with all countries in the area. Turkey has now dammed the Euphrates river as well as most others and is days away from controlling ALL the water entering Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon, which means that The Big Dog in the area is Turkey.
Trouble is brewing.

The American Spectator has pretty well nailed the Roberts thing. Go there, it's short and sweet. And while you are over there read this thread on Darwin vs Intelligent Design. There's some people on both sides that are a lot smarter than I thought (I know, consider the source).
- Quoted: "If we wrote a program to run on a supercomputer that would generate random strings 22 characters long, and our supercomputer could run through a trillion tries every second, the odds would still be against producing this exact sequence by chance in 20 billion years. The fact that it's very improbable to produce this precise sequence by chance is another way of saying, in information theory, that it is highly complex."

You are making the same mistake Fermi made about cyclotrons generating enough enriched U235 in our lifetime. If a single computer was used (or cyclotron), yes. But what if I used 10 billion computers? Can I not deliver that permutation within but a couple of years? I think you have to answer yes. When you consider that in nature, cells don't live in singularity, but in the trillions each possible of developing a minute flaw during mitosis then change can come about rapidly.
Like I said, really good stuff.

I told you The Anchoress has more to offer than just a Faith site. Well today she has found a major shift at the LA Times. They actually call the situation in Iraq better than at any time since......

And Simmons is running a week long rebuttal to the NYT disgusting trashing of our troops in the piece, "Where are the War Heros?" He's featuring one per day.

And I don't think Jane Galt is worth a paper bag full of horse shit or that Ann Althouse has anything to write about that is of use to anyone over the third grade. Totten, has things to say once in a while so long as he can squeeze what he thinks into 10,000 words or more. So they are filling in while Reynolds is gone, and check the long winded crap over there

Just because some actual reporters are actually reporting new stories that MSM won't touch, I am coining a new title for them....SMALL CREEK MEDIA and they will be posted over on the Link part.

This pic is too good, over at Radio Equalizer as part of a new revelation about "you know who." BTW, if Al Franken paid his drug connection with a check on Friday he may be sleeping with the fishies....... (via Malkin)

IT'S BIGGER THAN AIR AMERICA, VIRGINIA

While all the bloggers dance around an even bigger issue than Air America; namely the wholesale corruption in virtually EVERY charity on the planet, Michelle touches on it today. Check her out because other bloggers with nothing to do but hunt down leads are checking in with some goodies. AND small town dailies are joining bit by bit. I think that the MSM's ties to the Democratic Party is a huge part of the problem. Behind almost every free loading charity and NGO is a big shot liberal or his wife. I mean that's what liberals do, isn't it? Take other people's money and give it to somebody in "need." And if the somebody in need is another Democrat who can't get back from Tahiti on time......

BTW, Michelle's link to Hot Line isn't as good as this one. But if you are a cheater you get what you deserve anyway.

Who said this: “I will always love you no matter how many skinny whores you adopt children with.” Radar hits below the belt on everyone, HERE.

Could Wedding Crashers actually be THIS funny?

And can Dukes be anything but endless eye candy?

Notice how all the usual MSM slugs are suddenly admitting that Jose Conseco's book (no, I'm not on the take from Amazon) exposing massive drug use in baseball---the same book that they trashed--- are now admitting his charges are true....BUT the motives of the book are "beyond the pale." I'd just speculate that the sloppy reporting (what? Sloppy Reporting?) and downright celebrity ass kissing kept the MSM from reporting what was obvious long ago. Guys who report to Spring Training thirty pounds heavier the year before ain't using Bowflex. MSM is corrupt right down to the Sports Sections, surprise surprise. We've seen the last 60 homer season for one hell of a long time because guys that weigh 180 to 200 can't hit like 250 pounders for an entire season. Now I wonder how long the NFL can consider the horde of 300 pound plus linemen normal guys who work out a lot?

AND AND AND No other than James Carville is saying that Judith Miller is the core source of the Plame leak. But you heard it here first, before Kaus published the same. Late Add at 1PM PDT: NewsMax has it all including quotes from the Imus show and Carville. Better than Air America's drug connections.....

8/7/2005

The latest smear on Roberts? He's gay. Go here for a list of Left websites that are after him. And surprise sur-fucking-prize, Wonkette leads the hyenas to the smear.

My post on the bombing of Hiroshima etc. mentioned the Rape of Nanking. An emailer sent me this link to pictures of it. Warning! It is truly ghastly. And Nanking was just one of hundreds of places where the innocent Japanese showed their stuff.

In case you aren't surfing today, take time and visit Sister Toldjah, and The Anchoress. They really nail things. Sister talks about why the MSM is ignoring the Air America story and I think she has nailed it. Anchoress has this neat little post regarding the EU ban on cleavage. Her bet is that covering up is simply another way of kissing ass with Muslims.

Shit, two more women who can think? WTF is happening? Oh well, when my mind is strained I can always go to a porn site or watch a game.

And I'm taking the late Steven Vincent's advice re: words matter. From now on I will refer to "Paramilitary Death Squads" instead of "insurgents" "guerillas" and whatever else I've been using; and I'll start using "liberation" instead of any other noun I've been using. I will not stop using words like shithead, I mean nothing quite says it like shithead.....unless it's the word "liberal."

Facts? We don't need no stinking facts. Especially when lawyers can make us millions. Slate on Themerasol and the lack of any link whatsoever to autism. Imus and a few other celebs like Robert Kennedy are running point for trial lawyers.

ONE WAY IRAQ IS LIKE VIETNAM

The refusal of the Bush Administration to go into Syria and Iran is directly responsible for nearly every death in Iraq. The Johnson crew would not go into either China or Cambodia either which meant there was an unending supply of both weapons and troops into Vietnam. Right now the same is happening and the sources are Iran and Syria, with a major assist from the Saudis. Every time an IED kills one of our guys we should drop one in Syria or Iran. We won't. Our guys die. We will lose. The planning for this "liberation" was horrible. Period. It is silly to pretend otherwise. Pretty soon you are going to see signs popping up that ask: "What Would Hillary Do?" This guy Bush won't stop Mexicans either. A really shit president.

BYE BYE CHRISTIAN RIGHT

The piece over at LGF: U.S. Presbyterians target companies linked with Israel will splinter the Christian Right/GOP alliance once and for all. Many "Christian" denominations were at the core of the old KKK that hated Jews as much as Blacks. Make no mistake, this is a big deal politically. Big. Right Wing has further takes. It seems like a lot of Protestant "religions" are also going after any company doing business with Israel. The only parts of Christianity who are in Israel's corner are the "evangelicals" and the Catholic Church. And like "Right Wing," I'm not a member of any of those churches going after Israel so what to do? I think you might see how it is that anti-Semitism has taken hold in our University system; it has broad support in the Protestant community.

But as long as the Dems attack Bush for being physically fit (Steyn suggests appointing a "Running Czar"), pretending he has cut education funding (fact: it has increased 50% under Bush), insisting they support "our soldiers in Iraq" while doing their very best to stab them all in the back, anti-Semitic Protestants won't cause trouble in the Democratic or Republican Parties.

"HIROSHIMA MEMORIALS:" ELITE SCHOOLS TEACH US TO HATE OURSELVES

We're supposed to feel some kind of guilt
for killing people who actually ate our prisoners alive, raped the women of Nanking for eighty straight days, and performed acts of barbarity in Asia not seen since the days of Genghis Kahn. They don't teach about things like this at the "right" places; Harvard, Stanford, or even high schools anymore. They teach that we, the ones who were eaten alive, are the bad guys.

While our Left and the Japanese population demonstrate against our use of the A-Bomb on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war in 1945, attacks which killed around 200,000 people, let’s look at what we did to win the war. Had we had to invade Japan and fight, we would have lost a million young men and the Japanese would have lost twenty million if the prior statistics held.

Japanese war crimes fill volumes. It is estimated that they slaughtered 350,000 in Nanking.

They did it the old fashioned way, one at a time. They tossed babies into the air and let them land on fixed bayonets; marched people into the river and used them for targets; gathered small crowds together doused them with gasoline and set them on fire and laughed while they burned alive; and others they just hacked to death (above). Link to pix of the Rape is HERE. Nobody knows how many they slaughtered in Singapore, but the minimum number cited is 50,000. There was a place called Slaughter Beach, another called Canji (not the infamous prison) where not only were civilians shot in mass, but the Japanese bound people hand and foot, took them out to the middle of the bay, threw them over and then used them for target practice. The Bataan Death March in which at least 10,000 U.S. troops were murdered, usually by the old custom of beheading; 60,000 survivors died in the prison camp later. How about the slaughter of 100,000 civilians in Manilla in 1945? Have you heard the one about the Japanese troops eating American prisoners alive? They did. Even worse HERE. So let's slobber all over ourselves for the A-Bomb. Then there is the horror of the Japanese prison camps where prisoners starved to death by the tens of thousands or died on the slave labor rail building enterprises.

There isn’t a prisoner who didn’t believe that the Japanese intended to murder them all was it not for the Atomic Bomb. Not only were a million American lives saved through not having to invade Japan, but if the casualty ratio held it means that at a minimum, 20 million Japanese would have been killed as well. Japanese deaths on Okinawa were 100,000 soldiers and 100,000 civilians–who fought to the last woman and man---while our losses were 20,000 (highest in the war). Saipan casualties were 3,700 American dead and 61,000 Japanese dead including civilians fighting to the last man.

The civilian population of Japan would have fought to the last man standing, a practice they had already shown on both Saipan and Okinawa where once they had run out of ammunition civilians jumped off cliffs with their babies clutched to their bosoms rather than surrender. And for first person recollection? Try this one:
“In Fukuoka, a truck drove up to army headquarters, collected B-29 crewmen who had been shot down over Japan and drove them to a lonely field, where one by one a lieutenant chopped off their heads with his sword.

They were not the first to die in this manner. The Japanese had beheaded dozens of airmen and used others for bayonet and archery practice. They'd locked them in animal cages and tied them to posts for passers by to torment them (the poor civilians in Hiroshima). They'd burned them alive, buried them alive, dissected them alive and cooked and eaten their body parts. Such atrocities were not confined to wars end nor even to military prisoners. From the very first day of its 14 year war, wherever it went on the continent of Asia or in the Pacific, Imperial Japan had worked and starved and tortured its captives to death.

'We discussed it a lot', recalled Warren Morris, then a B-29 pilot in the 313th Wing on Tinian. 'We wondered whether to bail out or not, because the word we had was that they were executing our fliers....oh, we talked about that. We knew they were killing prisoners.”
The professors will call you a racist if you bring things like this up in the Ivy League....... Our Holy Left would rather have had a million young Americans and twenty million Japanese die than use a weapon to end it fast. What they also say is that America deserved to lose another million. That the war was unjust. Our guys deserved to be eaten alive.

Let’s hear it for our lousy lousy Left.

No Pasaran has a broader piece HERE. Including the point that the Atomic bombs had nothing to do with the Japanese surrender. Only the Emporer was moved by them. The Army wanted to fight. Most history tells us it was the Russians getting into the war that had more to do with Japan surrendering. Mark Steyn has a few things to say too.

SPITZER GETS AIR AMERICA ......

Eliot Spitzer asks Air America to pick up the soap.....
New York AG to investigate the loans from whomever to whoever. Nothing on MSM this AM. Link to Malkin

Claudia strikes again, and this time it's Volker. Rosett says he's hiding documents and intends to blame the U.S. for a lot of the damages. Many of us said Volker was in the sack with Kofi before this started. Now he's going to make us look like the bad guys. Kofi? He gets off scott free.

This starts out as one of the usual female mommy bullshit, but then it logically links to how to handle multi-culturalism. A good read at Maxed Out.

And guess who the rocker is in this pic over at Socialite. I had to look it up. If you haven't started taking drugs yet, this is sure to keep you on orange juice. Hint: "No, it's not Mary Tyler Moore.

BASIC TERRORISM, PAGE ONE

2. When subways stop only all suspicious looking males for searches, here are your instructions:
A. Find stupid young woman (they are all stupid so it shouldn't be hard)
B. Pretend you like her (if you and she like each other it's even better)
C. Take her to the subway with you.
D. Before you get there give her your suitcase with the atomic bomb inside.
E. Looking as suspicious as possible attempt to get past security without being checked.
F. Make sure they stop you and search you while the girl goes by with the suitcase and waits for you on the platform.
G. Once you get past the search, join the stupid girl on the platform and take the suitcase from her.
H. Blow up New York once your train starts.
I. If you feel real good that day you can pretend to the girl that you left something in the apartment and ask her to get it for you. If she refuses don't kill her, just let her join you on the subway.

I only mention this stuff because terrorist fighter John Walker Lynde was from Marin County and white as the driven snow. And if I was a terrorist I'd follow the directions exactly and beat a racially profiled search system.

I hope all of you have been going to the links to reporters who get off their asses and report from the boonies (Vincent was killed for it). Many of them have wondered at the escapability of the terrorists and their vehicles after being filled with hot lead. Michael Yon, just a guy doing some observations, made more than one comment that our ammo was no good as he observed both terrorists and their Toyotas getting away. DuToit, a guy who really knows his shit about guns and ammo, lays out the problem right here. He says it is being fixed. Let's see, um three years and almost 2,000 deaths later.

NO MORE SOFT TARGETS FOR THE REPUBLICANS

EVEN the Left runs from the New York Times. Yesterday I posted that the closing down of the vicious hard left sites was not good for the GOP because their closings remove soft targets. I think this was proven this morning when Bob Beckel, a really big time Democratic operative, appeared on FOX and ran from the New York Times like they were a pack of skunks. He blasted the NYT for going after the kids, implied that the Washinton Post as an equal offender by trashing the clothing worn by Robert's kids, and he even praised Roberts character. Michelle Malkin, the pit bull matréde who was on the show so she could eat him alive, was left looking like a dope because she had nowhere to go. Even Rush is going to find it hard to attack them pretty soon.

"The times they are a'changing," as somebody sung a long time ago. We will see the Democrats massing at the center within a month. Even now they act like Jane Fonda is invisible.

This is a new ballgame and the decade of trashing luxury enjoyed by the GOP is over.

WHO ME? NAW, COHEN DID IT

It's Official: Air America got none of the Gloria Wise funds. Cohen got it all, stole it all, and he is a criminal. That is what the Left is saying, and what the Left is saying Air America is saying. Meanwhile a Google search this AM shows ZERO MSM coverage.
So, Fox joins a smear campaign against Air America, bringing it to the MSM (mainstream media), even going so far as to say, as if positively true, that the "money was used for Air America operations." But, of course, that's the heart of the smear. If this is between Cohen and the boys and girls club, obviously, Air America isn't harmed. If Air America can be accused of using money intended for poor little boys and girls, whether, in the end that's true or not, its reputation will be harmed, and that's precisely what this is all about.
And boys and girls Lefty says that unless it can be shown that Air America ever got the money and used it, there ain't no there there.

BUT, the money WAS placed in Air America accounts (Piquant). The only question that supposedly remains is "was it used?" If it wasn't, why wasn't it just paid back? Michelle has a long long long list of questions thought up by Bob Johnson of Right Talk, and they are good but leading.

HELP, THE NEW YORK TIMES NEEDS A SHIELD LAW

Times and Robert's adopted kiddies: Isn't soliciting the commission of a crime (breaking into sealed court records) a crime?

And these pricks want a shield law?

CLICK HERE TO HONOR STEVEN VINCENT

Front Page has an excellent overview of what Vincent had been writing about. The fact that he was murdered validates what he wrote, in spades.

I BLAME THE REPUBLICANS FOR THE NEW YORK TIMES SLIME ADOPTION INVESTIGATION

Give the NYT the Stalin Journalism Prize for their investigation of Judge Robert's adoptions, and be done with it. Put the brats in a re-education camp and give them to Rosie O'Donnel. Don't worry, the stupid Republicans won't say anything.

Some literate types on the web with degrees in absolutely everything that shouldn't count for anything are calling the New York Times fishing expedition into Judge Robert's adoption records things like: disgusting, dispicable, dishonorable, contemptable, abominable, excreable, loathsome, evil, sordid, and fucking shitty.

I could say mother fucker a million times---and have---over The NYT slimy investigation of Judge Robert's adopted kids. But where are the sleep walking Republicans on this? Do they have to do a focus group to stand for something. Can Bush stand to stop tending those cloned cows long enough to pay attention to what is being done to his nominee? No wonder the Republicans almost lost a seat in Ohio yesterday; I wish they'd lost the goddam thing. These attacks, first by the Washington Post about his wife's clothing, and now about his adopted kids should not be allowed to stand for even a minute. The Left is low but something has to be said for stupid people who just take it without fighting back, especially when they have the money and muscle to do so. NYT? I don't read it and don't knowingly support companies that advertise in it. If Stalin still gave prizes they'd be going for their ninth straight.

14 KILLED IN IRAQ AND BUSH TALKS ABOUT INTELLIGENT DESIGN

Intelligent Design
is a philosophy bolstered by faith alone. Evolution is a science bolstered by an enclyclopedia of facts that lack only the links from ape to man to complete. Intelligent Design does not belong in science classes that use experimental proofs, conjecture based on logical extensions, and mathematical proofs. It belongs in philosophy, comparative religion, or even history. I don't believe that science classes or math classes treat things like string theory and quantum mechanics as solutions to everything, but instead theories that are well advanced and have many proofs not confirmed by experiments. My opinion is that as math gets deeper and deeper we may actually find an intelligent design (unified field theory). Who knows? But Intelligent Design in a science class? How about Thetans from Scientology creating the earth? Or the more than 500 Hindu gods doing their shit? Or all the American Indian rain gods? No, leave Intelligent Design in philosophy. Now about 14 guys from Ohio killed in Iraq? Unintelligent design

The Left implodes, bad news for the GOP? According to O'Reilley on FOX and a piece in the New York Post, Soros is closing down his Left hate spot. This means that both Air America and Soros' bludgeon are down leaving only Kos and Democratic Underground (which from the looks of it has already folded). And check Kos lately, he sounds positively reasonable; I'll bet he starts weeding out his comments section soon. Why bad for Republicans? Nothing evil left to shoot at. You can bet that the really big money on the Left saw disaster so long as these hate sites remained as banners for the party. They will be more focused now, directed from the top (Hillary???).

And the trouble for the GOP cannot be any more obvious than the narrow victory in the Ohio House race in a district that is 73% Republican. Worse, the Republicans did not show up. I'm sure the horrible slaughter of our soldiers and marines in Iraq--which Bush said bubkis about-- had more than a little something to do with it, but this was dam near a loss for a seat the Republicans have controlled for 40 years. Now even FOX is all over the corruption in Iraq. Their in house "experts" basically said that we are losing because of the corruption and inability to stop the insurgency True to form, FOXnews.com excludes everything that they aired on the subject. The site is one of the worst of all the news sites on the web and seems more interested in excluding stories than including them.

SUBWAYS FOR LIBERALS

Great idea for the poor liberals of NY who are forced into having their packages searched before boarding a subway. Two subway trains to everywhere. Pictured above left is their favorite from the Dinkins era, and still preserved by the ACLU in their Museum of Freedom. Pictured below it is the liberal's favorite subway decor. Blow it up to see the "art" on the back wall of car. Liberals should be allowed to bring any and all packages, suitcases, backpacks, and boxes aboard these cars. It's only right.

Tied up with work today so no blogging. If you have nothing to do and have never read Steven Vincent in the Red Zone, go here and do it......

AND FOURTEEN OF OUR GUYS GET KILLED IN ONE DAYB

AS IF THAT WEREN'T ENOUGH, Get truly ready to shit your pants. This blogsite details how the new and improved Iraq police are manhandling people, torturing people, and turning into thugs. Is this kid lying? I doubt it. Sometimes people telling the truth just are. The only suspicious thing to me is the perfect grammar. The main thing that bothers me is that this duplicates the detailed activities of the Wolf Brigade that is well documented all over the place now and the reports by the now murdered Steven Vincent. I'm going to run this by some of the Iraq blogs we all trust and see what they say......stay tuned....Late add: nobody has returned my emails. And no wonder, it looks like reporter/writer Steven Vincent was murdered over this piece in the New York Times that spelled out the same corruption that this kid says is going on. You can also read this which was his last blog entry. We have blown it and every one of our guys who is killed is a total waste. We all better start reading from actual reporters who actually go out of their posh hotels in Baghdad to get stories--all three of them. Go here for an index of Vincent's NRO pieces. And you can buy his book--In the Red Zone--- from the usual suspects. I haven't read it but I'm going to buy a copy today.

I stumbled upon a PDF file listing all the civilian deaths in Iraq, their causes, who did it, who the victims were and so on. The only thing left out is the number of terrorsts killed. The entire file is HERE.

Many Iraqis have agendas, scores to settle, bribes to accept and so on. Also, from other sources now on the web it seems that the New Iraqi Police are thugs out to rob everyone, take bribes, and so on. Then there is this (link via Michelle) to a piece by the now murdered Vincent, part of which is below:
Not that I didn't know anything about Basra-style corruption. In our travels across the city, Layla and I have fielded ceaseless complaints of extortion, protection rackets, employment featherbedding, nepotism, bid rigging, influence-peddling--it's impossible to talk to Basra businesspeople and not hear such woes. Mention, for example, the province's Governing Council and contractors will grimace, close their eyes and shake their heads. (One GC member oversaw a multi-million project to extend a street in downtown Basra; a year has gone by and so far no extension--meanwhile, the politician now lives in a $5 million home near the British Embassy.)
See my Bakshsh post of long ago about the thousand year tradition of bakshish, a bribery that goes from top to bottom of every Muslim society.
Bakshish is the curse and if we can't stop it, no economy can roll.

Whether you call it mordida (the bite), un pot-de-vin, or just bribery, nowhere on the planet is it as universal as in Middle East. There, under the term "bakshish", it controls every form of business or government service. You cannot get a job without bakshish, roads don't get built, you can't sell so much as a date on the street without bakshish.

Buy stock? Oh no! A powerful person (or people)simply takes 10% of the stock and agrees to pay for the stock when the accrued dividends match the stock price at time of "purchase"; in addition he gets a seat on the board of directors PLUS a salary. In exchange, the business won't have tariff problems, labor problems, or any problems. Judges take money from both sides and routinely rule in favor of the biggest bribe (he keeps both bribes); hospitals have two sections, one for the people who have paid a bribe and one for those who have not.

Hospital doctors are the ones who paid the most in bribes to the government guy in charge of hospitals, business executives are where they are only because of bakshish, army officers, artists whose works are shown, and so on, pay bakshish. It seeps into every facet of society. This has been going on for thousands of years. When you pair bakshish with the "shame/honor" of the society at large you have hell on earth. Any criticism of a doctor puts shame on the doctor. To regain his "honor" he will go to the guy above him, the one to whom he paid bakshish in order to get his job in the first place, and the guy above him will go after the complainer and perhaps put him in jail. Nobody cares if the patient dies....unless the patient had paid bakshish to somebody much higher than either of them, etc., etc., etc.

It is a nightmare because any complaint is shame. Praise is honor. Everyone walks the line of shame, honor, bribery. Naturally everybody lies in that society. It is the only way a man can stay alive. The main reason everyone comments on the extreme politeness of Arabs is that every word is measured in honor/shame/bakshish. Who are you really? This is who I am (pretend). This food is good (because I might be killed). Everyone honors everyone and lies like hell to get what they may want. If your son wants a government job and goes to your tribal leader to ask for one the tribal leader cannot say "no", because a "no" would shame both his family and his position as leader of the tribe. He has to "see what I can do". Then he may have to go to the head of another tribe who works in the correct section of the government. Haggling is done. If the government guy already "owes" a favor then the deal can be done relatively quickly, perhaps for a consideration later. Otherwise a deal must be made so that nobody is shamed. The unqualified kid becomes an official for the right consideration and everybody has honor. The parents of the kid "owes", the kid "owes", the tribal leader looks strong, the father of the kid looks like a strong parent and so on. It is a society built on lies.

Right now we are in a place where the Saudi family tells Americans one story and a completely different one to the Arabs on TV at home. This is normal. Nothing wrong with it. What is really going on? Honor is going on. The Arab people know what was told to Americans and by telling the opposite story to them on TV the Saud family shows "honor" by both lying to the Americans and getting away with it. But suppose the Saudis told us the truth and lied to their own people? That's OK too, the Saud prince shows he can conduct smart business. The Saudis may have made a secret deal with Powell by telling Powell that they would have to lie to their people but that they are telling the truth to Powell.

Get it? Arabs lose wars because their generals are only there because of bakshish. Their scientists are there for the same reason. There is not one aspect of their lives where competence is the criteria for position. Period.

Except for Terrorists, that is one part of life where killing is the only criteria.
We're winning? Winning what?

IF YOU HOME SCHOOL your kids, go HERE. DuToit has a product that can help the hell out of you.

Oh, BTW---I listened to Air America for thirty minutes or so yesterday. It was the first time I had the time. I got news for you: they are boring. One of the main reasons for the success of both Limbaugh and Hannity is that they cut their teeth in radio. They know what works. They know dead air kills. They know that they have to SOUND interested in what they are saying even if they are not. They know all about the upward inflection at the end of sentences. They also know how to pre-script a spontaneous program. Night clubs and TV shots ain't radio and it really shows. They are dead asses. Period. Gore TV? Don't get it on my cable system but it sounds like they intend to make a buck.

WAKE UP! AIR AMERICA REALLY IS BEGINNING TO STINK

Michelle really gets deep into the Air America situation today. The current management did not initiate the original looting of the charities HOWEVER she breaks it down to

1. Charities were caught by the City.
2, City cut off funding the charities pending investigation.
3. Outsiders quickly came in to "rescue" the guilty charities.
4. It turns out that the chief of the charities also was head of Air America. The chief just looted the charity (and used forged signatures to do it) and poured the money into Air America. Then looted half of that money for himself.
5. Air America sold to new owners "who supposedly didn't know." We are to believe they did no due diligence. They did. Why they bought Air America? Read on.
5. It turns out that the new owners of Air America knew about the robbery of the charities and had already agreed to pay them back "over time."
6. Dispite the knowledge of the charity lootings, the new owners didn't tell the city.

For the balance, which is the usual corporate slight of hand, political self interest, cross ownerships, race hustler hypocrisy, and East Coast Democratic politics, please read Michelle. BUT it goes a hell of a lot deeper and wider because there is an MSM coverup about other "liberals" stealing money, advocating cop killing on the radio, and the firing of conservative talk host Michael Graham. Please go to Radio Equalizer, there's a lot of reading but I think we all have to do it.

AIR AMERICA NON SCANDAL, SO FAR

If you are wondering
why I haven't joined the feeding frenzy on the "blogosphere" regarding the so-called scandal at Air America it's because as of this writing there is no timeline on which to convict. MSM is silent because they don't want to be sued. Bloggers are libel proof because most have no money. Hannity and Limbaugh haven't touched this story because they DO have deep pockets and have to have actual facts before they shoot off their mouths.

FOX is only main stream irritant, (total audience for news is 2.5 million--MSM has 30 mil), the Washington Times, NY Sun and Post are strictly minor league.

A big reason for the non-coverage may be the obvious hole in the story which is (are) the dates of these transactions. You have to have a coherent time line and so far there is no indication that the performers knew anything or that the new owners are guilty of anything other than terrible due dilligence (or no due dilligence). If the money was stolen on the prior ownership's watch, then the current owners are liable in the legal sense and will have to pay it back AND sue Cohen to get their money back. Or it must be shown that the new owners knew that the books had been cooked to cover up the stolen money, and why the hell would smart guys do such a thing?. Somewhere somehow something has to be shown that the transaction took place under this management. So far there is bubkis, nada, and zilch. Don't get carried away on this, yet.

The "OUT OF IRAQ CAUCUS"---who are they? Shhhhh, don't tell but, they are the Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party-----

Supported by the usual Hard Left suspects--- People's Weekly, World International Labor Communications Association, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA)---and the (let's face it) Communist wing of the Democratic Party and led by Maxine Waters. This is a partial list in addition to Maxine....

Rep. Neil Abercrombie, Rep. Xavier Becerra, Rep. Corrine Brown, Rep. Julia Carson, Rep. Donna Christensen, Rep. John Conyers, Rep. William Delahunt, Rep. Lloyd Doggett, Rep. Sam Farr, Rep. Chaka Fattah, Rep. Raul Grijalva, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, Rep. Rush Holt, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Shelia Jackson - Lee, Rep. John Lewis, Rep. James McGovern, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Rep. Jim Moran, Rep. Grace Napolitano, Rep. Eleanor Holmes-Norton, Rep. John Olver, Rep. Major Owens, Rep. Donald Payne, Rep. Nick Rahall, Rep. Charles Rangel, Rep. Janice Schakowsky, Rep. Bobby Scott, Rep. Jose Serrano, Rep. John Tierney

Claimed
membership is 61 and right now they are touring the Hard Left meetings around the country. The fact that a majority are also members of The Congressional Black Caucus cannot be ignored. These names are hard to come by because nobody is publishing them. Remember, they are all Democrats. The list is growing. For the list AND links to the backgrounds of members go here. Keep in mind that they are not being identified anywhere so this list may vanish. And no, the Commie McKinney is not on the list, yet.

AWARD FOR BEST EMAIL OF THE YEAR

Here's a prime example of "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" supposedly offered by an English professor from the University of Phoenix. One day he split the class up into pairs and where possible the pairs were mail and female. He gave them the following assignment. One of them would write the first paragraph of a story and send it to their partner. The partner would then add a paragraph and send everything back. This process would continue til both agreed the story was completed. The professor was to receive a copy of each email. They would be graded. Here's a classic....

At first, Laurie couldn't decide which kind of tea she wanted. The chamomile, which used to be her favorite for lazy evenings at home, now reminded her too much of Carl, who once said, in happier times, that he liked chamomile. But she felt she must now, at all costs, keep her mind off Carl. His possessiveness was suffocating, and if she thought about him too much her asthma started acting up again. So chamomile was out of the question.

(second paragraph by Gary) Meanwhile, Advance Sergeant Carl Harris, leader of the attack squadron now in orbit over Skylon 4, had more important things to think about than the neuroses of an air-headed asthmatic bimbo named Laurie with whom he had spent one sweaty night over a year ago. "A.S. Harris to Geostation 17," he said into his transgalactic communicator. "Polar orbit established. No sign of resistance so far..." But before he could sign off a bluish particle beam flashed out of nowhere and blasted a hole through his ship's cargo bay. The jolt from the direct hit sent him flying out of his seat and across the cockpit.

(Rebecca’s response paragraph) He bumped his head and died almost immediately, but not before he felt one last pang of regret for psychically brutalizing the one woman who had ever had feelings for him. Soon afterwards, Earth stopped its pointless hostilities towards the peaceful farmers of Skylon 4. "Congress Passes Law Permanently Abolishing War and Space Travel," Laurie read in her newspaper one morning. The news simultaneously excited her and bored her. She stared out the window, dreaming of her youth, when the days had passed unhurriedly and carefree, with no newspaper to read, no television to distract her from her sense of innocent wonder at all the beautiful things around her. "Why must one lose one's innocence to become a woman?" she pondered wistfully.

(Gary’s second response paragraph) Little did she know, but she had less than 10 seconds to live. Thousands of miles above the city, the Anu'udrian mothership launched the first of its lithium fusion missiles. The dim-witted wimpy peaceniks who pushed the Unilateral Aerospace disarmament Treaty through the Congress had left Earth a defenseless target for the hostile alien empires who were determined to destroy the human race. Within two hours after the passage of the treaty the Anu'udrian ships were on course for Earth, carrying enough firepower to pulverize the entire planet. With no one to stop them, they swiftly initiated their diabolical plan. The lithium fusion missile entered the atmosphere unimpeded. The President, in his top-secret mobile submarine headquarters on the ocean floor off the coast of Guam, felt the inconceivably massive explosion, which vaporized poor, stupid Laurie.

(Rebecca’s response) This is absurd. I refuse to continue this mockery of literature. My writing partner is a violent, chauvinistic semi-literate adolescent.

(Gary’s Response) Yeah? Well, my writing partner is a self-centered tedious neurotic whose attempts at writing are the literary equivalent of Valium. "Oh, shall I have chamomile tea? Or shall I have some other sort of F--KING TEA??? Oh no, what am I to do? I'm such an air headed bimbo who reads too many Danielle Steele novels!"

(Rebecca’s Response) Asshole.

(Gary’s Response) Bitch

(Rebecca’s) F__K YOU - YOU NEANDERTHAL!

(Gary) Go drink some tea - whore.

(TEACHER) A+ - I really liked this one.

HOLLYWOOD SLUMP--IT'S THE TALENT, STUPID

If she fights when her clothes you are mussing
What are clothes? Much ado about nussing
Brush up your Shakespeare
And they'll all kow-tow

(Cole Porter---Kiss Me Kate--1948)

Arts:
PBS screws up musical comedy--so does Hollywood
and some proof that the Hollywood slump is caused by the second rate talent that dominates the business.

I am not a balls out fan of the American Musical. With exceptions---Singin' in the Rain---I have always found them hopelessly contrived, populated by idiotic characters, and most of the music is mainly mediocre---look at TNT movies for proof. But for proof that some of the stuff was great, look at Annie Get Your Gun. Annie had nine (yes, 9) hit songs and three number ones including the show biz anthem There's No Business Like Show Business. When you count the movie musicals---most were absolute shit---I admit that things with Fred Astaire, Mario Lanza, Gene Kelly, had their moments and those moments were when those stars were performing. We all agree that Rogers and Hammerstein and a bunch of others wrote lots of good stuff---if you could stand most of the plots. A lot of the music, taken song by song, has become American Standard. Beautiful stuff.

Which brings me to PBS and the special they ran about Richard Rogers. Rogers has produced a body of work that would stagger the normal team of writers. Literally a hundred HIT songs. For some reason PBS put on a Rogers tribute show and populated it with some of the least talented people in show business, people who proceeded to ruin almost every song. Why?

I'll get to that in a second. But first, talk about ruining every song.....

I rented It's De-Lovely, a supposed musical revolving around the life of Cole Porter. What is presented is a homosexual problem drama with some of Cole Porter's songs, all of them done badly. The main things that stick in my mind about this strictly homosexual psuedo-drama;
Porter's supposedly sympathetic wife wife is his procuror of male companionship.
Porter spends all his spare time pursuing other men;
he mates with all leading men in his shows.
Then we come to this sorry cast of (we assume) homosexual men who ruin song after song. Taking just one, Begin the Beguine, a great tune and song that the De-Lovely "talent" strangled. Beguine is a number showcased brilliantly by at least TWO sensational recordings, one of them an acknowledged classic by Artie Shaw, (start listening at the two minute mark) a guy who made his rep with a stomping soaring big band version of the Porter music that is still played, in fact it became such a hit that it superseded anything that any band had ever had; the other version was by Frank Sinatra who cut one of his classic super-swinging recordings, one that is also still played. All of us have heard both recordings.

Why not do a version that was popular? For all the music.

Because the purpose of the movie is an agenda using Porter music as a cover, not entertainment, there was never an attempt by the producers to purely entertain. It's a part of the AGENDA for "artists" to show things in the USA as gay. With that purpose in mind, the movie presents a Beguine version so awful and so depressing that one can't imagine the song ever being a hit for anybody. And so it goes throughout the entire movie, one that presents songs that Ella Fitzgerald---for one---has done so well that her versions are the standard.

I am not a Cole Porter fan. I think most of his songs stink (Go HERE for a list and tell me you know more than 15 of them). I acknowledge that tons of song writers think he was the best. As if being clever rather than being emotionally honest is "best."

"I would go to hell f'ya,
or even Philadel- f'ya"
or
"If she says your behavior is heinous,
Kick her right in the Coriolanus"

But aside from the cleverness in some of his song lyrics, I don't think Porter is more than a pimple on Richard Rogers' ass. Or Berlin's. Or Mercer's. Or Dorothy Field's. And so on.

De-Lovely was never meant to be anything other than a validation of homosexuality, both the lifestyle and the sex of it. Hollywood is gay and it is the art community agendas that are dominating all music and drama today. Their agenda is to present the past as degenerate and give us a contrived and hopeless today. The men are weak and swishy; the women masculine and sexless; the resulting product is not fun, not engaging, and not very good.

The PBS presentation of Rogers music was awful. Nobody in it would have ever been cast in the original Broadway productions. PBS gave us an empty Richard Rogers, one they had castrated. It was as if everything Rogers wrote was mediocre and PBS had to struggle to present it as if it was high art. Why? How did the Rogers estate let this happen? I don't know, but South Pacific was not a show for drag queens.

One more blast at De-Lovely, if that movie was a manufactured product the producers would be sued for Consumer Fraud for their advertising. Fluff, hot air, contrived personal relationships, and a living example of why Hollywood is in a slump, one they cannot pull out of because the slump is caused by the second rate talent that dominates the business.
